As if a benevolent goddess had deigned to answer the prayers of the metal-encased slime, the silence was broken moments later.

Though considering the means by which this occurred, perhaps it would be better to say that this goddess was less "benevolent" and more "bored". Who could really know what goddesses were thinking?

"Yo. Yo. Yo."

The homunculus who had been among the first to awaken emanated the sound three times, each time in a different pitch, as if she were deciding on which one felt most natural.

Loosing a brief cough afterwards, she then began speaking again, electing to go with the second pitch.

"Hiya, how is everyone~? You all look kinda confused too, so I'm guessing none of you remember anything before this point in time either, riiiight? Those wonderfully dumb, slack-jawed expressions of yours are just screaming the truth~!"

"...well, except for mister armor over there, but I'm sure he's the same way."

Diana immediately launched into a stream of dialogue, as if needing to warm up her vocal chords by alternating the speed of her speech from slow to fast in a mad cascade.

"Well, if you do remember stuff and I'm the odd duck out then that'd probably be for the better. Bunch of people all waking up in a room with amnesia or something, like, really? Way too coincidental to be normal, which'd mean there'd be a cause for it, which means it wouldn't be standard, which means we probably have some shared factor or situation, and that'd all be really annoying."

"Bleh, whatever, we can get to discussing what we know and don't know after we're all nice and acquainted, right? I'm Diana, but you can call me Diana. Or Miss Diana, I guess, but just Diana works too. Let's all get along~"

Isa had just been about to say something, to break the silence between the other creatures, when one of them launched herself into a strange and somewhat annoying monolouge. Her pitch and tone and tempo changed constantly as she spoke, and Isa didn't like it.

"I find myself in a similar situation to you, Diana." Isa spoke slowly, calmly, not wanting to seem threatening to anyone, but not wanting to seem bubbly or immature as the girl, as Diana, had seemed to her. Isa walked closer to the statue that was in the center of the group, more so that they could see her than for her to see them.

Taking a breath, Isa made her tone lighter and tried to add a touch of kindness to her words. "I am Isa, by the way. I don't know who any of you are, but I suppose I should say that for some reason, I don't feel on edge around you. I may not remember the events that brought us together, but I trust my intuition. I dont think that any of us are meant to be enemies here."

While 2 others talked, Victor stared at the statue. It was likely that the others who were also staring at it had similar thoughts to each other, though their thoughts probably weren't the same as his own.

I wonder how much this is worth.

It was quite brilliant statue, actually. It was glowing and it was well made. It was probably magical, but there was no way he was taking it out of the cave by himself. With that said, he couldn't help but think about what he would get if he sold it, which was strange to a newly reformed body.

It was weird how the statue was surrounded by corpses, but it was weirder how he wanted to get a lot of gold. He wasn't sure why, but he really felt like he wanted a lot of money, like he couldn't live without it. The lust for gold nagged at his mind, and he couldn't hold explain it. It didn't feel like him to coop up his feelings, so he tried saying something.

His jaw fell open clumsily and a squeeky weeze emerged, somewhat reminiscent of human speech but intelligible. Something was stuck in his throat. He put his hand into his mouth and tried to clear his airway. When he pulled his hand out, it was covered in cobwebs.
Ew. Victor thought, coughing to clear out the remaining cobwebs.

"Ugh..." A voice said.
It was Victor's voice. His body's voice. It reminded him of a bad flute player's music. Probably what he should expect from a skeleton, really. But there was only one reason he tried to speak, one reason alone.
"Hey, anyone got some gold on them?" He said, adjusting his jawbone to speak better.

Vaul ran his tongue along the irregularities of his teeth, against the elastic resistance of his cheeks, and the unyielding quality of the roof of his mouth. Vigor was slowly returning to his body as he sat there on his comfy little rock, and finally he stood up after some time. Using his rather ornate staff as a walking stick, he stepped over the small underground stream in the dim light, managing not to wet the hem of his robes. It felt good to move, to relax and contract his muscles to construct a more or less steady gait. Eventually, he neared the figures clustered around the statue at the center of the temple.

His ears twitched as he caught the lamia whispering "Who is she? Why is it down here? Who am I and why am I here?" and at such a relatively far distance that he was surprised himself.

"Why indeed?" Vaul replied, as he came up behind her, more to catch her attention than to offer anything useful. His eyes had a strange glimmer about them as he eyed the scales of Alyona's serpentine tail, walking with close steps in a semicircle around her before stopping at her front.

"You're a snake down there..." he breathed out in genuine amazement, with a rather nonplussed expression on his face as the gravitas of the fact sunk in. "A snake starting from," he brought his eyes up to her midriff, "And then it's humanoid," then to her face, "Thereafter..."

The moment of silence hung thickly still in the air as he stared into her eyes, his face unreadable.

"Huh," concluded Vaul, failing to come up with anything more profound. "Isn't that something."

Alyona decided immediately that the girl that had spoken first, Diana, was quite annoying already. Maybe it was her voice or the way she changed the tone and tempo of her speech as she spoke, but it was grating on Alyona's nerves, so she ignored the girl for the time being.

However, it seemed best to introduce herself with this name that she somehow knew was hers. However, as Alyona prepared to speak, she was startled by a voice behind her. She lost her balance and almost fell over again, however managed to right herself before she could actually fall. To say Alyona was surprised would have been an understatement.

Vaul's astonishment and rather anticlimactic statement left Alyona off balance, figuratively. There were no words. Instead she shook off the daze after a moment and decided to introduce herself instead of pick up from his rather broken verbal observations. "Errr, hello, you can call me Alyona, and you are?"

"Vaul." He replied smoothly enough, tilting his chin up in an unnecessarily prissy manner, and living up to his body's elven nature. "I'd say it would be nice to meet you, but in such a dreary place," he gestured to a nearby skeleton, then to the other figures nearby, "And the fact that we all appear to be bewildered by the situation we're in, it would be rather inappropriate, don't you think?"

"I must say," he added, running his eyes down Alyona's half-serpentine figure again. "You have a very interesting physique."

He pursed his lips thereafter, and ran his tongue across their dry length to wet them.

"Nice to meetcha, Isa! Oh, and Mister Bones, sorry, I don't have any gold. Does that make me poor? Aw, I don't wanna be poor~" Diana hummed airily in reply, her tone having stabilized now after getting a feel for how to speak. At the reactions, or rather lack thereof, of the others who were present though, the mud doll's expression soured slightly.

"...boring. Come on, if Isa's in the same situation as me, I'm guessing you guys will be too, right~? And nobody wants to talk about that? Really? That's just plain disap-"

Diana cut herself off as she paused for a moment, her eyes narrowing slightly.

'...that's what that must be, right? Even if I don't truly remember, this body remembers so I can still remember. And this body is telling me that...'

Her eyes shifted back to the statue as she took a step forward, looking at it with a focus completely antithetical to her prior demeanor. '...let's see, then.' She recited to herself mentally, before making use of an ability that came to the forefront as easily as breathing: Detect Magic, initiate.

Isa had been listening to the various conversations, when the sudden stop of Diana's voice drew all of her attention back to the girl. She was simply standing there, looking at the statue. Isa followed her gaze up, to where the figure's face would have been, had it not been so weathered away. There doesn't seem to be any thing wring with-!

Isa's thought stopped as she saw a slight flicker over the statue's 'face', like the ripples of a pond after a stone has been skipped across the surface. Isa placed a hand on the base of the statue, and with the other she held the amulet around her neck. What am I doing... As soon as she asked herself the question, she knew the answer. That's right, I'm looking for the traces of magic in this statue. I might not be able to tell what type of magic, but I will sense it if there is any.

Alyona was unsure of how to respond to Vaul's rather upfront behavior. However, before she could responded to Vaul, Alyona noticed a strange presence in the room, not that of a person, but more like an aura. Magic? It seemed a feasible enough answer, and if she could sense magic, that must mean she can use magic...right? Well, why not give it a try?

The entire time, she failed to realize that her face had been contorting to match her thoughts. Now, she closed her eyes and tried to focus...on what? The aura? Sure. That seemed right. As she focused, she opened herself to a new sensation, one similar to the aura she was feeling in the room. Deciding to just hazard a guess, she tried to detect whatever in the room was giving off this 'feeling.' Well, here goes something, she whispered under her breath, "Detect."

When Alyona turned away and began to narrow her eyes at something, Vaul was compelled to follow her gaze. But before he could ask if there was something interesting with the statue, he felt a sensation: a buzz in the air, a prickle on his skin, and a mild heat within his chest as he stared at the sculpture. His lips parted mildly in realization at this strangely familiar yet unfamiliar feeling, and with an effortless motion, as if by instinct, he raised his staff a few inches, muttered a heavy whisper, and brought the pommel down to cast the spell.

"Detect Magic."

"No money? Bummer." Victor said, swinging his jaw back and forth.
It was a little loose and fun to play with, but it probably wouldn't do well to lose it so he slotted it back into place.

"I wonder if can find some money..." Victor muttered.
His lust for gold was truly odd, but he had nothing else to go on. Acting on his instincts, his surveyed the equipment of the others around the statue. Some of it seemed to be extremely valuable and Victor would've liked to have it.
No stealing, though. Victor thought. Stealing is rude. Hmm....

He turned his attention to the various corpses that hadn't gotten up. Perhaps he would find something of worth among the cadavers.
"Alrighty then," Victor said, walking over to the nearest un-moving corpse and rifling through its pockets.

Boris felt the energies move as the two other casters wove their spells, and decided that looking around in more than one way was a good idea, and reached for the currents with his small but rather sharp and strong mind, seeking the nature and sources of any magic in the nearby local. Fey magic didn't quite express itself in the same manner as the big-peoples magic did, but it served an identical function in many ways.

Oh dear... such clamorous beings, must they be so loud and obnoxious? Ooh... a greedy skeleton? This he had to mock. What could he possibly use gold for? Food and drink would be worthless to him, clothing pointless, and Boris was pretty sure the skeleton wasn't the vogue art collector type. He decided to play a trick on the old stack of bones, and pulled several small drops of water from the stream nearby, and used them to imitate flashes and glints of light, as the skeleton moved from corpse to corpse. After each flash of light, the drop of water would be dropped onto the floor where it slowly seeped into the ground and another was pulled from the stream to replace it. Boris chuckled to himself, disliking the high pitch of his voice, but expecting it from such a small frame. If the skeleton began following the trail of glints, he would wander in a around criss-crossing the same area though never returning to the same corpse twice.

"Oh?"

An airy smile crossed Diana's face as the result of her surveyance of the ambient magic in the room returned to her, information ingraining itself into her mind. Without another word, a pale hand of the homunculus reached out to pluck a small note off of the statue. After doing so, she emanated a slight giggle, as if awaiting the note to explode, or summon an eldritch abomination, or explode and then summon an eldritch abomination.

Well, you only live once. Or something. Derp charge ahoy.

"...what a joke. Someone here's got a sense of humor, that's nice~"

Speaking to herself but also speaking intentionally loudly as if to inform the others, she turned her eyes to the note with a raised eyebrow.

'Let's see what this has to say. I don't like being in the dark about this trash, not one bit.' She thought to herself as she trailed a finger along the note.

After a fraction of a second passed though, Diana raised an eyebrow. Even if she herself didn't recognize something of this nature, her body certainly did. '...huh, they really do have a sense of humor, leaving something completely useless like this here.' She thought to herself with a half-dissatisfied expression. "Bleh, that's disappointing."

Boris lost his train of thought as one of the creatures surrounding him, and the statue, picked up a note he had over looked. He released the spell manipulating the water droplets, and watched as the note was read... waiting to hear what was said. He knew it held magic in it's frail form, but not what purpose the magic served. When the note was not commented on for some time, Boris's curiosity got the better of him, and he jumped from the statues shoulder and flew to the wrist of the hand holding the note. There he landed lightly and began reading it for himself. It didn't occur to him that his current position might not be smiled upon by the owner the wrist he stood on.

Diana raised an eyebrow as she turned to the fairy that had chosen to sit on her wrist, her hand not touching the note moving to lightly pluck him off. Of course, anything too rough could kill the poor thing, so she was naturally careful.

"What are you trying to do, Mr. Fairy~?" She asked. "Personal space is important, y'know."

Of course, upon looking at the note, he would have naturally noticed that it was completely blank.

Irmo stepped around the homonculi after getting a look at the scroll from his perspective.
"Sso the scroll was blank. Thiss is a pity. Perhaps we should investigate that orb, no? As far as clues in this place go, that idol is all we have to go by. Unlesss you want to dig through the corpses. Does anyone object?"
The kobold approached the statue, waiting a brief moment for anyone to interject.

"Hmm... There's not much on these bodies..." Victor said.
Disappointing, really. He expected more, somewhat. Some of them looked like pretty good adventurers.

"What's this?" Victor said, suddenly noticing the trail of shiny things.
He walked slowly to a shining point and found that it was actually a puddle of water.
"Neat." Victor said. "It's like, light or something."

He began to follow the light, wondering where it led. He remained oblivious to the fact that it led him in circles.

Boris noted that the note appeared to be blank, and was about try and touch it to see if he could ind any hidden information when he plucked from his perch. Annoyed, Boris listened to the big people, they were always so touchy about space, as if the had made the space around them, or bought it for a high price, it confused Boris really, especially when the same beings had no problem crushing entire cities, sometimes even entire countries, of little people as if they didn't even exist in the first place.

How is it that personal space is worth more than forcibly moving an entire person? Or do I not count as a person for some reason? You either know good and well what I was doing or you're to stupid for me to bother attempting to explain it to you, with my luck it's the latter.

He mumbles the last phrase about his luck. He shifts focus as the kobold speaks up, asking about the orb. Kobolds were nice enough, they rarely messed with little folk. Granted that might be due to their affinity for living underground, and so were less likely to run into little folk, but Boris didn't care about that.

Be my guest Scaly; Skeley there is already digging through the dead.

"If you wanted to know what the note was, you could've asked me, Mr. Fairy~" Diana hummed before looking back at the paper with a dissatisfied expression. "Either way, no harm in explaining, seeing as its equally useless for all of us. Even if I don't remember "me", I remember "this". This here is a magic little database. It's built to store information, like a better version of a book. It could hold arcane secrets, could hold a recipe for pie, could hold a compendium of erotica, who really knows? Maybe it's blank and we can use it as a diary." She explained, before letting out a slight huff.

"Problem is, this requires a magical password to access it, and seeing as nobody else seems to remember anything either, that means we won't be able to guess it. Brute forcing past the password is practically impossible, and on top of that I can't tell if this is even blank or not, so for now it's useless." She stated, reaching around with the hand holding the note to deposit it in her Bag of Miscellaneous Goodies, nestled firmly within the folds of her blanket. "I'll hold onto it on the offchance we figure out the password, but unless there's something in here that could be the password, the odds of that are just barely above zero, so don't get optimistic. Maybe it's the sort of thing we won't find a way to access until we're about to fight the Demon Lord, I don't know."

"Hey, Mr. Gold n' Bones, has your searching turned up anything that looks like a password?" She called out, releasing Boris from her fingers. "Sorry about the rough handling, Mr. Fairy~" She said with a slight giggle, "Didn't mean to be rude, let's get along!"

Boris, glad to be free of the witch's claws, flew back to the statue, wondering if it held the password, whatever that was. Landing on the shoulder opposite his previous landing, and put one hand against the statues smooth face, trying to feel for anything magical from the weathered stone what kind of magic it held.

He hoped that being on the statue would prevent anyone else from grabbing him... He also noticed that the witch gave no reply to his question but still wanted be friends... She sounded rather like a fey herself, and he wondered if she had been made by one of the more powerful fey. They did such things occasionally, when they got bored, or wanted revenge on the big people for disturbing their smaller cousins. Boris wondered if any of the others even knew of the fey, the witch probably did, the skeleton and kobold might not though. The rest? hmmm, he wasn't sure yet about the others most of them hadn't said or done anything since waking up anyway, or at least he hadn't noticed them doing much of anything.
