Name: Kazanari "Kaz" Xiaolong
Age: 17
Power: Kaz possesses the ability to channel energy in order to cast magic. However, he this doesn't mean he's an exceptional mage or even a good one. If one were to put him on a scale of 1-100/lowest to highest to judge overall knowledge, he'd rank a good 12 or so. Although, if one takes into account his talent as a specialist in a particular school, he'd be more along the lines of a 35-45, but only under certain conditions.
Onmyodo ArtsOnmyodo, meaning The Way of Yin and Yang, is essentially Far Eastern spellcasting - a mixture of natural science and occultism incorporating elements from such teachings as Chinese philosophies, Taoism, Buddhism, and Shintoism.
-Shikigami Exertion: The art of creating a being similar to a familiar out of paper. Depending on the amount of time put into its creation and the quality, a shikigami can be anything from a single-action suicide bomber to something closer to a sentient being. They last until destroyed by an outside force or the caster cutting off energy to sustain them. Additionally, one can use shikigami in rituals, but while the effect would most likely be more powerful, it would take much longer to set up, comparing shikigami familiars and a shikigami ritual to a pistol and a rocket launcher would be an apt comparison.
-Shenfu and Fuwen: Paper talismans with the latter written on them and oriental magic writing, respectively. The former is technically nothing more than regular paper with special writing on it, but it acts as a medium to store magical energy for later use. Meanwhile, the latter can be inscribed on anything solid enough for a more instant effect.
Material TransmutationEssentially it's just types of magic that interfere with the properties of an object, nothing more nothing less.
-Alteration: Quite simply the ability to give an object a property or effect that it originally didn’t have.
-Reinforcement: The ability to analyze the structural composition of an object, and increase its effectiveness. Similar to the above, but only dealing with properties or effects an object already has. An example would be increasing the sharpness of a knife, the nourishment of food, or in the case of a living creature, physical strength and durability. However, this particular technique is perhaps the most taxing to use, since it's the same as adding something to an object that is already complete and if you botch it, you screw up your object, probably permanently.
Appearance: Kazanari stands at an average height of 5'8", and is little bit underweight, weighing in at 132lbs. He has red eyes, messy, neck-length dark-purplish hair going gray/white, and skin that's quite pale due to side effects of overusing 'borrowed magic' (you'll see what I mean by this later on). He doesn't really have a distinct color of choice for attire, and his favoured fashion is pretty uninspired, being just plain pants and zip-up jackets with sneakers.

Bio: Kazanari's a half-Chinese, half-Japanese (or whatever the equivalent is in this RP) young 'patchwork mage' from a lineage of Onmyoji. His mother had died some time after childbirth and his father was a third rate mage who got himself killed pursuing the Art. His father had been lucky enough to be born into a relatively old lineage with plenty of tricks, but unlucky enough to be born without exceptional talent and thusly passed up for inheritance of all the decent secrets. In spite of this, his father had decided to try making it on his own, taking what knowledge he could gather in time and booking shit out of the area only to die for a chance to revitalize a dying craft. In a few ways Kaz himself could be called a similar existence, born to a family with a long line of mages yet unexceptional and easily passed over for someone more qualified. However, his mother's side aunt, a 'medicine woman' whom he was sent to after the death of his father, had recieved some of his father's research notes (with the rest being sent over to his father's side uncle) and came across an interesting theory of his: 'Magic Transplantation', a type of 'spiritual surgery' developed in the earlier days of his father's work but quickly discarded after being deemed useless to him.
The process was horrifically painful, to say the least. Having one's soul rended open in order to engrave your deceased father's capacity for magic onto it, and then resealed once more tends to have that type of feeling. The surgery left his body much weaker than before, but what he lost in physical durability, he gained in magical capacity. After the success of the transplantation, his aunt had decided it would be worth it to teach this kid something as to not waste all that time and suffering. He was put through a strict training regimen, every day he'd have to actualize a spell, and every time he failed he had to do it again. The same went for his archery training, a supplement for when magic wouldn't be effective enough. Then, after all that effort, he'd be put to mundane work, usually running around delivering packages to people or cooking, to help pay the bills or just for convenience, respectively. And so he trained and trained, and worked and worked until finally he was let out into the world on his own at age 16.
Kazanari mostly spent his days wandering about the countryside, taking up simple work that could be completed quickly with short hours, small pay. While he wasn't living in any kind of extravagance, he made decent pay and had enough free time to practice his craft - and use it practically by hunting down those who would threaten the safety of others. It was around the end of the previous RP when he came across a certain Jacob Lightwood on one of these hunts, both going after the same thing. Once that was all done and over with, the older, more skilled male made an offer to the younger, less skilled male: an apprenticeship-esque partnership. Jacob would teach Kaz some stuff, not necessarily magic related, and Kaz would return the favor by acting as an assistant to do menial tasks and act as a second gun in the field.
Equipment:-Equipment Belt. To keep the rest of the shit on the list in.
-All the Paper. Sticky notes, note pads, origami, toilet, etc.
all of it.
-Cellular Phone. Because they're convenient.
-
Blood-Ink Pen, a rather unassuming looking pen that writes with ink mixed with blood used to write out Fuwen. The blood, or really any body fluid but blood works the best, acts as a conduit to actualize the effects of the symbol written.
-Swiss Army Knife, because sometimes you can't find a pen.
Before anyone asks, yes I did run the latter part of the Bio through Arara.
