Your men begin their work, you delegate the engineers to act as heads and advisers to construction teams while the Wehrmacht assist. The latrines are quickly dug while wooden privacy walls are erected, its simple, but will give your men some sense of security as when they do their business, of you have implemented any sort of plumbing yet. Meanwhile the living quarters will also be made of wood, the grass uprooted for a simple dirt floor. You skimped a bit on civilian supplies but you have brought simple metal bunk-beds and communal lockers as furnishings. Also the foundations for the concrete and metal command post and motor pool are being laid out and construction will begin soon, for now the vehicles will remain in the open.
For defenses you don't expect the enemy to be using artillery or fire arms so you forgo the traditional trenches and foxholes in favor of the immediate construction of a metal watch tower and wooden palisades. Hans offers that the fixed guns need their own operating emplacements as well as the some surrounding grasslands to be cut or burned down(controlled of course) to provide a clean and unbroken line-of-sight, adds it to the queue.
You still have ample supplies so you don't immediately delegate workers to production. The generators will be held under tents while the motor-pool is constructed.
Herman does exemplary work directing engineers and soldiers alike, while the head of the SS Commandos, one Lt. Kaiser prepares his men to accompany you. Honestly, Kaiser is a respectable and formidable soldier, but his demeanor is opposite of yours, he is loud-mouthed and rather sadistic, but his skills are indispensable.

You elect to lead the SS scout party, there are some mumbles of "Wehrmacht brute," and "flat footed meat-head," but the Kaiser quickly shushes them as you approach. Its true you aren't the most subtle soldier, and would probably be more suited to open combat than a scouting party, but you press forward.
Fortunately there are no actual contacts in the surrounding area, but you find a abandoned stone tower in a state of disrepair. Its design is similar to Roman outposts in the frontier. Its a singular tower, surrounded by walls and with a building meant to be what you assume to be the living area. Your scout squad explores the ruin and finds nothing much. Broken steel longswords are on some racks, beyond repair. Some storage crates, missed by would-be bandits contain 5 sets of armor, the leather is a bit worn and frayed but, its intricately made, metal is layered upon each other and is reminscant of Roman legionair armor if it incorporated tradional medieval plate. These would be an excellent trophy for the Reich, but they are rather heavy and would impede progress.
>Carry the Armor with you and continue>Drop them off at base before returning>Radio for a pickup crew>Leave and come back for them later.
