Fifty years ago, the world's supervillains organized themselves and almost over night slaughtered the majority of the Jusitce League and its offshoots. Led by General Zod, Vandal Savage, Lex Luthor and Ra's Al Ghul, the force of Supervillains were nearly unstoppable, finally united for one common goal. Using a hi-jacked Red Tornado, Luthor delivered the first blow as he disabled the Watchtower's environmental systems before sending the orbiting station plummeting to Earth. Those who survived the wreckage were met by a new Amazo. Themyscria was next hit as General Zod and his forces descended upon Paradise Island waging war with the Amazons. Team after team of the heroes forces were called in, reserve members, junior members only for each and everyone to be slaughtered as the supervillains exerted a dominance over their foes that had never been seen before. The League of Assassins descended upon Gotham while Wayne Manor was razed to the ground. Not wanting to miss out on the fun, the Joker detonated a dirty bomb reducing most of Gotham to rubble in a flash of light.

Metropolis was over run by Intergang, war breaking out in the streets as they moved to take the city. However Metallo had other ideas and tried to take the city as his own leading to his volatile Kryptonite heart being ruptured as the cyborg exploded taking most of the city with him. After a month of fighting, numerous trails of wreckage and most of the known world rendered inhospitable, the supervillains had taken over the world.

Throughout the battle, the world's military became more and more desperate as hero after hero died and city after city fell. Nuclear weapons were unleashed and while they did their job, more than not they just left behind smoking craters. Europe, Russia and Asia were lost to nuclear fallout. Australia was lost to rampant tides after half the moon was destroyed. Most of Canada was lost to a new ice age while the remainder was taken as part of the new world. Africa was set ablaze while South America was sunk below the surface by feuding Atlanteans. In the end, only the former United States of America remained having absorbed both Mexico and the habitable remains of Canada.

In a world without heroes, people live each day trying to get by despite the odds ever against them. But there are some who still cling to the days gone past, the days of superheroes when any second Superman would rise up from the ground and Batman would swing in. It is in these people that hope is reborn and fuels those who are done with being oppressed.
