Name:
Luther Reeves - Black Mamba
Side:
Tech
Sex:
Male
Age:
36
Race:
Cybernetic human, psionist
Appearance:
Luther is six feet and four inches tall and has a full silver-black cybernetic body, with a black visor for eyes. Often, most would assume that there is flesh behind the helmet, or at least a face. But in the case of Luther, his actual body is the cybernetic suit with only his actual brain within the suit being the only thing that makes him different than an android.
Personality:
Most people who come across Luther would never believe that he was a rather funny man. The look of being a full body cyborg intimidates some, and his position within the tech society makes others fearful of him. In reality however, Luther is easy going and a wise-crack, despite all he went through in his life. His that a positive frame of mind makes a positive type living, and he lives by it. That isn't to say that Luther isn't a serious person, in fact he can be quite dangerous at some points.
Anger is something that has gripped Luther for as long as he could remember. Although he can control his rage and will never go bursting in a rampage due to his self control, he feels it like a burning sensation in his chest - and although the fact he can't feel anything with his cybernetic body makes that phenomenon rather interesting in Luther's eyes. Luther is by no means someone who is easy to anger, but he becomes ruthless if someone manages to do it. Using his cold and calculating ways of his past, he tries to find ways to torture those who upset him in the most painful ways.
Luther is also a man who is cunning and will use whatever advantage he has to get what he wants. This of course requires loads of patience from his end, and although he despises it he has since learned the immense value of the virtue. To Luther, patience is only a tool, like his other weapons, and he utilizes it when it will benefit him the most, if it won't he discards of it. He is also quite deceptive, and although he is almost one hundred percent against lying, he will use half-truths and perceived truth in his favor.
Faction:
Federal Intelligence and Reconnaissance Agency
Biography:
Luther was born as a test tube baby in Union Station then discarded next to a dumpster shoot by his "mother" because of his dark skin complexion. It was Elane Reeves, a prostitute, who found Luther in the middle of nowhere within the station and pitying him, she took him in and adopted him as her son. As a child, Luther was as average as any other child save for the fact that other children don't usually witness the underworld of civilization with their own eyes, which he did. Murder was common where he lived, he would walk and see people getting shanked or shot and he would watch them bleed to death without any sense of pity. He would ask his mother about it and she would explain that it was the way of the world. People kill and the weak get killed. And it was that sentence, to Luther's mind, that saved him from becoming a sack of dead flesh. He would go out and pick fights with people older than him to prove he was strong, yet he would always get beaten up.
After two consecutive months of coming home with bruises, his mother signed him up to a class that taught self defense for children and it was there that Luther truly learned how to fight. His teacher before he began the first classed expressed clearly that if any of them were to fight outside of the building, they would be kicked from the program. Although Luther didn't quite like or agree with the teacher, he decided to comply in order to benefit from the training. After several years, the young boy found himself stronger and more agile. But training wasn't the only thing in his life, his mother had grown older and her income as a prostitute was diminishing, which forced Luther to go find work in order to support himself and his mother. But jobs were hard to come by for him. He had no formal education, he was black, and had no experience in any sort of work. Luther hit a stroke of luck however when a mobster offered him employment as a drugs dealer, and having no other option he took it. And the money flowed in like rivers, and soon Luther was able to support his mother whether she continued to work or not.
However, his mother became suspicious of his earnings and confronted him about it. He told her the truth, that he was a drug dealer for a local mobster, and although the money was good his mother still told him to quit it and to find an honest job. Luther didn't quite understand why his mother was stopping him especially since what she called an "honest job" payed far less than as a drug dealer, but he complied. On the surface at least. He searched for several months before he landed a job in a vehicular repair facility on the far side of the station and found that the job was harsh and annoying, but he continued with it if only to appease his mother, while also selling drugs on the side. While working in the facility, he made the mistake of trying to sell drugs to one of his fellow employees. A few days later, Luther found himself in a jail cell.
Then he was incarcerated without so much as a trial at the age of seventeen. They simply took him from the police station and dumped into a penitentiary, filed him into the system, then locked him in a cage. In that cage, the first things came to his mind was that he was weak. The strong overpowered and the weak suffered, it was the life that he learned in the slums of Union, and coming to terms with his weakness was not an easy thing for him. But he swallowed his pride, and used the solitary time within his prison to hone his body and make himself stronger and turn his body into a weapon. Day in and day out he worked on his body, challenging himself and ignoring his other inmates. That is until Marco entered the cell with him. Marco was a crazy individual, one moment he would be calm then the next he would go on a murderous rampage because someone spit on their right and not on their left. And yet, he somehow managed to befriend Marco and get on his good side, and Luther found out that he was the son of the most powerful mobster in Union, George Carleon.
The two remained cell mates until Luther was released whereby he was visited by a strange individual who handed him a phone, and on the other end was George. He asked about his son, even though Luther knew well enough he had eyes on his crazy kid, then he asked if he could work for him again, in a higher paying job. Luther made the fatal mistake of refusing George, and learned the hard way that the Carleon name was feared throughout Union because the man could get away with anything. A few days later, while Luther was walking to buy a pack of cigarettes, a black sack was suddenly dropped over his head and he was carried away by strong arms, and despite how hard he tried to fight, they kept a firm grip on him. He felt himself thrown into the trunk of a vehicle and after several hours he felt arms pull him out. He found himself in a remote place within the station and in front of him was his mother, her clothes in tatters and with a gun to her head; then George stepped into Luther's line of vision and explained to him that either he worked for him or he would watch his mother killed in front of his eyes. Defeated, Luther agreed and he watched horrified as his mother's brains spattered the steel floor of the station.
A hit man, his new employer explained to him, was what he was going to be. He would be trained by the best in the business the man promised him, and although power was staring Luther right in the face, he couldn't help but feel that it was wrong and tainted, but he had little choice so he took the offer. The training was harsh and lasted for half a year to get him acquainted with all sorts of firearms and weapons, with various fighting styles, and how to properly do recon and take out his targets quietly without causing a federal uproar. Several years into his job, he became one of the best hit men in the business and he grew in rank, and yet he was at a severe disadvantage compared to some of the other more well established hit men. He wasn't augmented, he had no cybernetics to aid in his job while others did and he decided that he would save his earnings until he could afford one, and a year and a half later, he went into a known workshop that offered augmentation for the crime world. When he got to the building however, he was approached by the feds and although he wanted to run, he noticed that a non distinct vehicle was at his flank as if waiting for him to flee. The agents confronted him and told him they were part of FIRA, and that they wanted his help in taking down George Carleon.
Luther laughed in their faces and made to walk away when one of the pair knocked him clean with one punch and shoved him into their vehicle. When Luther woke up he was in an interrogation room with the same pair sitting across from him with a tablet portfolio in their hands. They told him that if he didn't comply, they would not only have him put in prison, but in the most secure penitentiary that belonged to the Techs in a space station of its own. Seeing that he had no choice, he agreed to their demands and was released.
He spied for FIRA on George for several years, giving them all the information that they demanded from him. At the age of twenty seven, FIRA managed to get Carleon and incarcerate him in a maximum penitentiary outside of Union. Thinking that his time was done with both the mob and FIRA, Luther made plans to leave Union to another station when he was approached by his old friend, Marco. They talked for a while, then Marco revealed that he knew it was Luther that sold his father to the government. A heated argument ensued between the two for several minutes, then Luther told Marco that he was leaving and that he needn't worry about him bothering the mob family again. As he turned to head to the bay area, a bucket of acid was dropped on him, and he fell to the floor screaming in complete agony from the intense pain. He tried to do everything to make the pain stop, but it was like a constant fire that ate and dissolved his body; within a few minutes, his legs from knee down had become nothing more than red liquid and he felt himself slipping as blood pooled under him, then he passed out.
When he woke, Luther could feel nothing, and yet he somehow understood that his body was intact and that he could move it around, and he proved it by managing to move his fingers. He lifted his hand over his face and saw that it wasn't flesh that he was looking at, but metal. He noticed as well that it wasn't just his hand, but his entire body. Panic began setting within Luther until a nurse came to him and called in a doctor once she noticed he was conscious. A few moments later, Luther watched as a tall man with a white lab coat came into his room and took a seat next to him, and began explaining that his team tried to save as much of his organic tissue as they could, but all of it, save for his brain, was too damaged to repair, so they instead augmented his brain into a full cybernetic suit. Luther sat in silence for a while then asked how he was going to pay for it, and the doctor explained to him that FIRA had already paid the expenses for the operation.
It took Luther a few years to get completely used to his new body, and he found, despite its strangeness and the fact that he felt like he lost something of his identity, that the suit made him stronger, faster, and more agile than he could have ever hoped to be. And once his rehabilitation was done, two agents from FIRA approached him with a file saying that if he joined their ranks, his entire file would be wiped clean as if he never existed and that he would be able to get vengeance. The offer was almost too good to be true and he asked why FIRA had helped him out. They responded that their director was saw potential in him and that he would make a great asset; then Luther asked what the catch was, and they told him he was going to be an assassin for FIRA while at the same time not having to officially join them. Luther agreed after a while and they took him to a training facility where he would learn how to master maneuvering in his new body, while also learning how to use the various number of weapons that were hidden within it.
The training lasted two years, and by the end of it, he felt more comfortable in his new body than he did in his old one, preferring the cold metal shell rather to weak flesh, and the fact that he couldn't feel pain was an added bonus. Once the field agents cleared him for duty, he located where Marco had relocated his house, and took out the entire crime family leaving Marco for last. Luther noticed he had aged badly since they had last met and it was with pleasure that Luther plunged a katana into his heart.
