PERSONAL SKILLSSee here for reference Rune Magic: B
The capacity to utilize the runic magecraft of Northern Europe. At this rank, Ferdiad is capable of utilizing the 18 original runes with proficiency, having trained under the warrior woman Scathach.
Battle Continuation: A
Makes it possible to fight even with deadly injuries and can remain alive so long as one does not receive a decisive fatal wound. Ferdiad fought for three days pierced with swords and missing various bones and chunks of flesh.
Warrior of the Ford: A
A skill representing Ferdiad's unparalleled capacity to stay in battle on fair grounds with his opponent in the situation of a single combat duel in proportion to how powerful they become in terms of physical power, martial prowess, and armament. No matter what Cu Chulainn was able to muster in every field of arms from darts to shields to spears to hard smiting swords, Ferdiad remained steadfast, losing naught an inch of ground against the mighty child of light. Even when Cu Chulainn entered his famed Riastrad in which state he was capable of slaughtering hundreds of men with utter ease where the might of phantasmal species was transfigured unto him, Ferdiad easily repelled him, giving no ground in single combat on the fated ford upon which they dueled for three days. At the rank of A, it is exceptionally difficult to defeat Ferdiad in single combat with mere physical power and martial prowess alone, as not even the famed Cu Chulainn was capable of doing so with his full arsenal of weaponry and power. The longer and more intensive a single engagement becomes, the stronger Ferdiad becomes. This skill is naturally complemented by the Battle Continuation skill.
NOBLE PHANTASMName: Trom
Type: Anti-Unit
Rank: D
Range: 1
Maximum number of targets: 1
The sword that Ferdiad utilized in the climax of the second day of the duel against Cu Chulainn. It was a powerful sword that smote opponents with heavy handed power, and managed to gouge out Cu Chulainn's shoulder bone. It held up against Cu Chulainn's crimson sword of light, a famed relic in Ireland, despite being part of Ferdiad's regular equipment. It is capable of generating powerful shockwaves of force that do not deal significant damage, but has significant area of effect and stopping force, easily usable as a shield to fend off against projectiles or break off an engagement. When a shockwave is applied to an attack, the blow is treated as rank up.
Description:
Name: Duel of the Desperate
Type: Anti - Unit
Rank: B+
Range: 1-10
Maximum number of targets: 1
Description:
A noble phantasm representing the legendary duel that Ferdiad is most known for, within which he was forced into combat through coercion, threats against pride, and enticing wealth. A duel marked by Ferdiad's desperation both to win for fame and wealth and for the prospect of facing his long friend Cu Chulainn and even renouncing their cherished friendship. It is a noble phantasm that forces a single combat duel with a designated target, acting in similar terms to the Ath n Gabla rune of the knights of the red branch. One challenged by Ferdiad cannot refuse combat, and in turn Ferdiad cannot retreat. Combat is, however, inherently unfavorable to Ferdiad as he cannot retreat and must relentlessly advance while the challenged one may employ any stealth or tactics as long as he or she engages Ferdiad and only Ferdiad in hostile action. Of course, outside interference is possible in this case, especially with an ally of the challenged one, but this noble phantasm negates the practicality of such interference as it did in Ferdiad's duel with Cu Chulainn, when Cu Chulainn in desperation against Ferdiad's unrelenting assault called upon his three fairy guardians to aid him, whereupon they were promptly slaughtered by Ferdiad by three single strikes. Any person or thing that attempts to interfere with the single combat enforced by this noble phantasm will immediately be struck by a rank down to every parameter while subsequently being susceptible to a powerful B+ ranked noble phantasm attack with high affinity against fae represented by a wreath of cracking red energy shrouding Ferdiad's sword with the conceptual ability to pass through all defenses. This secondary Fae slaying attack is only usable against the one that interferes in the duel as a means to inhibit the capacity of those to interfere for fear of death.
Name: Horned Skin of the Fir Domnann's Champion
Type: Anti - Unit(Self)
Rank: B+
Range: 1
Maximum number of targets: 1
Description:
The famed horned skin of Ferdiad was considered to be invincible, causing Ferdiad to be considered a warrior with but one match throughout all of Ireland. No weapons, whether they be hard smiting swords or swift arrows, could dent Ferdiad's skin, and only the mightiest warrior Cu Chulainn was capable of wounding Ferdiad. Even against Cu Chulainn, Ferdiad's horned skin remained impervious to any significant harm, fending off against any major wounds and causing the greatest of blows to be negated to a mere nuisance of a cut. Ferdiad can choose to utilize his horned skin or retract it to his fancy. When used, the horned skin emerges from Ferdiad's body as a thick layer of solid and thorny skin of a metallic obsidian shade laced with streaks of blood red crimson. The skin appears more to like armor than any biological substance, and covers all of Ferdiad's body. Any damage wrought to Ferdiad in this state has its capacity reduced to a fourth of its original power, with the another fourth of damage being reflected back to the attacker in either physical or magical form, depending on the attack's original type. The reflective damage is dealt through a curse inherent in Ferdiad's skin which is at B+ rank, so it may be negated by magic resistance of sufficient capacity. The armor can, however, be bypassed by conceptual attacks or blows that utilize power nearing the realm of authorities, making it a horrible defense against the likes of Gae Bolg. In addition, the armor does not negate the effects of attacks, merely their damage.
