Age: 15
Year (in school): Sophomore
Appearance:
From the first time someone looks at Glen, they might see a troublemaker. He's wiry and has eyes that always seem to be shifty, whether or not he actually is. He's on the notably short side, only 5'2”. He likes wearing clothing with pockets, going so far as to actually sew pockets into clothing that he likes if that clothing doesn't have pockets. Inside the pockets, he always seems to have odds and ends of all kinds, and he always seems to have gum on hand. Glen's eyes are heterochromatic, his left eye is blue while the right is hazel. His hair is brown, kept short and clean. He wears generally heavier clothing and tends to dislike the cooler weather, much preferring the warmer climates of his home state.
Ability / Power / Creature:
Reflection – Glen can interact with stable reflections (Mirrors, mostly) in ways that most people can't. Where most people find solid glass in the way, such a barrier doesn't exist for Glen. This allows him to do a few interesting things.
The first thing he can do is pull his reflection out. Both share an empathic link, and any harm inflicted on one reflects onto the other, just on the opposite side. It is hard to tell the difference between the two, as Glen is ambidextrous and has few telling marks on his body that would give away that one of the two is a reflection. If one reflection learns something, the other seems to get it at the same rate – as such, he has on more than one occasion sent his reflection to class without any incident. Both he and his reflection are not necessarily separate beings – he likens it to having two bodies with a single mind between them. While Glen's reflection is in the “real” world, neither of them have reflections in any kind of mirror.
Glen is also capable of entering mirrors bodily. Doing so puts him into a “mirror realm”. It is hard to describe such an alien spot, but the use for it is pretty clear – he can emerge from other mirrors, or look through mirrors like windows. This leads to some good pranking, mostly.
Biography:
Glen has always been a troublemaker. He was raised in Arizona by his grandparents, having been taken from his parents by child protective services at the age of four. He loves his grandparents deeply, and he was always a good kid in school, at least academically. Socially, he was always the joker, the prankster, the constant annoyance, though he was never overtly mean to anyone. He made some friends and enemies, but always made good about staying out of real trouble.
In sixth grade, he tried to keep up his usual antics, but he attracted bullies that would try to pick on him because he was small and looked frail. Glen made a point of never confronting them if possible, but more than a few times he'd come home with a black eye. His grandpa told him that he'd have to stand up for himself, but Glen knew that he alone wouldn't be able to stare down a group.
When he was next cornered, he tried to do that. After being taunted, he growled, wishing he really had another person – and that other person came as his reflection turned and ripped itself from the mirror, terrifying the bullies. After a moment of brief confusion, the two Glens figured it out, and thought it was -awesome-. From then on, Glen found ways to keep out of trouble with the help of himself, and when trouble got too much, he knew how to get out of it with a quick jaunt through the mirror world.
He graduated middle school with top grades in everything except science, a subject that he just never found a decent appreciation for. He applied to Northwood Academy after doing a bit of research, and got in.
His first year was mostly uneventful, and he did his best to keep out of the trouble that stirred up near the end of the year with Natalie's death. He didn't know her, and was pretty sure he didn't know anyone she knew, and so it wasn't much of a weight on him when he went home for the summer.
Personality:
Glen is a generally somewhat nice guy. He's kind enough to people he's not familiar with, and he's clearly a pretty darn good student. People who he finds irritating or overly full of themselves, though, will find that he gets somewhat annoyed by that. This tends to lead to him inflicting pranks on them, usually involving mirrors, where his reflection is capable of doing things to scare people or otherwise cause havoc by allowing Glen to be in two places at once.
He's always happy to help people when he can, though, even in small ways. Tutoring or training, cheering someone up or lending a sympathetic ear, he'd go to fairly great lengths for people that he likes.
