Who else is contesting the Zanjir Islands? Other then Tin?

Yamatai was, before Clocktower left. I wouldn't mind a slice myself, but Tin is my ally and KalMea isn't willing to risk harming relations

Not sure what you're thinking, Voltus, but maybe that could be what kicks off the drama.

Vereb's elves might enjoy more land, perhaps. Or Mihndar. Or, well, anyone but me...I guess. I'm just gonna piggy back on Tin Man till he wins, and then bring up some claim to a ]slice of the island for my support.

The Glorious People's Republic is insulted that you would think we would stoop to imperialism like those pig dog autocrats and capitalists.

However, the People's Republic does intend to use covert action to supply and arm Zanjir natives in their noble efforts of proletarian resistance against the Tin swine.

And then we may or may not operate said resistance behind the scenes when it comes to power.

So yes, we could be that spark.

Lol wat? Dafaq u talkin bout?

In other news, the release date of the IC has been much like Half Life 3: Highly anticipated and prepared for, but still not here.

If so, we need some people to get involved on your half, while me and others get in on Tin's half and it leads to a world war. That's what needs to happen, right?

And then we'll bomb them all?

I was planning on having the reds set a bomb off on both sides of the island, the two garrisons will blame each other and start fighting and the commits will use the infighting to smuggle in weapons and spark a revolution.

@ASTA

While I'm at it, any idea where you want to be?

Between Tiqsimuyu and the Hegemony.

Do note that all I require is a simple star to denote the position of my nation. I'm running a "bastion state" (a fictional title of my own engineering that details a city state of gargantuan size that is globally known for its secondary role as a dedicated military installation) that is home to 20,000,000 souls. Vigor City is its name.

The rest of the land that Vigor City resides within can be left unclaimed.

Inland or on one of the two coasts? I imagine you meant inland, but access to the sea would be important for trade (and is generally more hospitable for sustaining that many people, but that doesn't matter too much).

Inland. Vigor City doesn't have an army, navy, air force, or merchant marine, but is relatively self-sufficient save for food imports that it probably obtains from neighboring powers.

I'm going to keep it simple, because you're inevitably going to challenge me on this again and again until one of us accedes the point.

First and foremost, thing to remember here is that Eisenkreis, and the Hegemony as a whole, does not have either a naval force or an air force. That means that all of that money that your nation and others spend on such things, is instead funneled into the defensive perimeter and the ground forces. I like to think that out of all the nations in the RP, Eisenkreis has the most advanced armor units on the ground and the best funded military, but I don't like to use absolutes in those regards, doing so makes it seem as if other nations are arbitrarily lesser. That's something I prefer to avoid, and so I use more vague terms for my nation than definites, because I don't want to start conflict over something as trivial as what one person has over another. Back to the point at hand, without a naval force or air force, of course it stands to reason that the nation will have better defenses with the expanded budget, and that's something I will get around to detailing out. The "Iron-Ring" as it is referred to, is a name given to the ring of mountains surrounding the states originally comprising the Hegemony, and have been fortified against the outside world. Think of the beaches of Normandy, except completely surrounding the nation and beefed up AA. Can one or two planes get through if they're particularly daring? Possibly, can't say for sure. However, what I will say is that the radar stations in each fort will detect them long before they get into range, and the skies will go black with flakk. Think about it. This is a highly industrialized nation with nothing else to spend their military budget on other than regular advancements to their ground forces. To brave the Iron Ring is suicide at best.
Never said somebody would just risk it unless they have sufficiently large forces to back it up.
I just said it's brave to declare AA defenses will stop aircraft dead when this was the common issue.
Aircraft defenses had too little time in general for a single battery or entire columns take down the enemy's forces for certain.
Radar can help to prepare and automated systems can shorten the time to aim but in the end you have several or so seconds before the enemy craft passes your range.

Second, think of the cultural aspect for a moment. The founding moment of the nation was against an outside threat which sought to change them, and since that day, they have lived in paranoia that the same would happen again. Almost the entire core speaks only Eisenkreis, and those who speak both the native language and our equivalent to common, they are the elite nobility and merchants. Out of ~18million people, perhaps a thousand have taken the initiative to grace the other nations of the world with the time to learn their language. This is not only because of fierce national pride, but also because they simply don't want your nations to have a presence in theirs. Even foreigners who have been allowed into the nation are treated as less than second-class citizens, and dignitaries are strongly suggested to remain within the embassies unless under escort. I mean, even Marianna herself was, and still is, discriminated against due to her heritage being that of human/lindai, and she was royalty. To those men and women manning the battlements of the Iron Ring, it's not a matter of just missing one or two aircraft flying over head. It's a failure to their families, to their friends, to their people, and to everything that makes them who they are. This is a society of paranoia taken to zealous extremes, and if the Iron Ring was to ever fall, they would sooner destroy everything than allow a single trace of foreign rule into their country.
It's kind of related to your previous column but I mention it here.
Wow, I didn't know you have no aircraft. Thought you just didn't include them yet.
Is it an ideological reason or something else? Because without experience with aircrafts and numerous failures which lead to the development of better AA measures.
If you're an isolationist then it'll be difficult to even get foreigners from other nations to teach you.
Also, as I said "failures" are kind of a requirement to get decent AA. Trial and error.
So I suggest making this policy less absolute because it can get ridiculous.
Granted, there are probably worse things in nation backgrounds so excuse me that I got a little nitpicky here.

Anyways, since 1943 tech got green lit I suggest a solution for making your AA defense better.
Radar-guided rockets. They were pretty huge (bit larger than a V-1) but unlike AA-defenses they had a more decent range and enough explosives that even with their "slight" inaccuracy they could destroy an aircraft in perhaps one hit.
They're complex, requiring an entire control building on the ground, expensive (a huge missile per aircraft) but for your kind of nation these might work wonders.

You can go ahead and try to quote me all sorts of sources on the effectiveness of AA in WW2, but in the end, you have to realize that we aren't dealing with a scenario in WW2. We are dealing with a fantasy world with non-humans and humans living together, sometimes in harmony and sometimes not, and there are going to be differences between reality and this world. Eisenkreis was a nation born of paranoia and the fear of outside change, and everything they have done has been in the name of preventing that change, and even change as a whole. Invading or even attacking their nation is not going to be as simple as doing so to another nation. They will bring the very skies down upon anyone who tries, and turn the mountains red with blood. Conversely, don't really expect them to come and get you in your nation. Marianna can say the nation is at war with you, but really, until you bring the war to Eisenkreis, nothing will really happen unless Kzechverin puts the man-pants on.

And let's be honest here, what are they really going to do? Kzechverin is the 1400's Poland-Lithuania of the setting, complete with horses and Men-At-Arms. If it wasn't for their nobility and the sheer amount of mans they can raise for an army, they could be rolled over by anyone.
Of course this is fantasy. Battles won't be a simulation here or anything close to it.
I don't expect people to literally send down thousands of rockets and expect only 10 hits at best when they're lucky.
I want fun battles but I see nothing wrong with mentioning the realities during WW2.
You are free to dismiss many of them but they worth a thought. I also prefer "pop culture/media" representation of WW2 in the RP.
Of course with the various fantasy flavor we added to it.

<Snipped quote by Skepic>

No, I'm glad Alfhedil said something this time. I agreed with Willy Vereb once regarding jet planes, but he constantly points out every single detail of someone's nation and brings up reference after reference to things that don't come into this RP. It's extremely aggravating.

I almost left the RP entirely because of him, and he's never even argued with me personally. People like him take the fun out of everything. I wouldn't mind him if he didn't constantly challenge and argue with everyone. I mean, I really like his nation and writing style, I just hate when I have to scroll past a whole page of him arguing with people who just want to enjoy the roleplay for daring to do something that didn't happen in reality
What?
I certainly won't be the person you'd find arguing with if you make some midly unbelievable things. I have freakin' elves riding griffins and using a metal which would never exist even by modern world technology.
Did you see me arguing with Voltus_Ventus for his robotic horses? Or that the Avians use little girls with propellers on their legs wielding autocannons that would be nigh-unbearable even with solid footing?
I can mention more but the fact is that I take them as acceptable breaks from reality. This is a fantasy setting even if the time is 1940. I'm the loudest person to repeat it. So your complaint just caught me completely unprepared.
I don't think I did more than just mention some realities during WW2 as an interesting food for thought.
Even then these should't have been overbearing when I only bring them up for a pot or two.
If this alone made you nearly quit then I'm not sure what can I do.
I don't want any arguments and I actively avoided such topics prior.

@Voltus_Ventus I think I'm going to have to drop this, I thought I was ready for an NRP,but I'm finding myself very much overwhelmed by everything. My nation can be used as NPC one, and I'll answer any question's you have about it. Sorry about this, but it's just a bit too much for me right now.
I respect your decision but if you only consider quiting because you lack confidence in your skills then I say that's hardly a concern here.
I doubt this will be any different from the typical NRP. Just read the IC when it's going to be up and you'll see.
Until then you can check the other NRPs and decide if it's really up to your taste.
I repeat that ultimately it's your choice.

On a completely different note I have issues with coming up names for my stuff.
Mostly because the "elven language" from Tolkien/Forgotten Realms is rather limited and my alternative the Welsh is quite hurting on the eyes.
Perhaps I rely on Italian or French in the future.

I NEED SOMEONE WHO HAS NO ATTATCHMENTS TO TIN TO CLAIM THAT ISLAND!
I don't mind claiming that island, or at least parts of it.
Wait, which island are we talking about?
Well, never mind, so long they can be connected to Yllendthyr via air or the seas I'm happy to grab them.

BTW, it's so strange that I'm apparently the most populous nation in the game.
My 140+ million population was only for the mainland.
The colonies add a few dozen millions more.
I used real life comparisons from the WW2 era and even cut down on the numbers because elves don't reproduce that fast.
So it's strange to me.
Oh well, I can fix that number downwards if needed.
Alternatively I can give you a quick guess for the population of each nation. They won't be anything I force on people but can help to fix this issue.
I really don't want to be the biggest nation on the planet.

I was planning on having the reds set a bomb off on both sides of the island, the two garrisons will blame each other and start fighting and the commits will use the infighting to smuggle in weapons and spark a revolution.
Sounds like a fun idea.

Speaking of wars, how are alliances going?
Aside from Tin and Ventus I don't remember any of them brought up before.
Personally if possible I'd like an alliance with the Avalians of @Skepic. We already have a sorts of strategic agreement over the exchange of Kavuria for Mithril.

@Willy Vereb

Use the Welsh elven names from Runescape is what I'd do. King Iowerth is both impossible to pronounce and very elvy-looking, at least if you ask me.

Alternatively you could use Altmer names from the Elder Scrolls, as I've honestly been imagining your nation as the Aldmeri Dominion with airplanes and shiz. A land ruled by a bunch of uptight and racist high elves :P

And as for alliances, Tin has close ties with Ventium but KalMea is probably their more reliable ally. They're of course enemies with Avalia due to their history and the PRK due to to the spreading Communism thing.

@Voltus_Ventus

Like ten pages back when I asked what would happen you said you'd control Yamatai. So I figured we'd still have the island conflict between Yamatai and Tin, with Tin trying to drag their buddies into it and Yamatai just enjoying the fact that they don't even need buddies; half the world 'effing hates Tin and soukd be happy to help Yamatai.

But if you don't want to control Yamatai (which is understandable) we can have the PRK bring in weapons. I doubt it'd do much more than increase casualties and force Tin to send a bigger occupation force, but if Tin found out they'd go crazy.

Oh, and if you're looking for something early on to kickstart a huge conflict, I have another thing planned with somebody that will happen early on and cause a diplomatic and economic nightmare. It'll probably piss off at least three or four nations. I'll PM you the details.

Kataylabinsk will start the game with no alliances, as befitting what is largely a rogue nation in the land of old-time monarchies, but will almost immediately begin talking with Avalia and Hambria about forming them. I've already confirmed this with @Skepic but not @thegreenleafe yet.
