Looks like we've got about four nations, if we don't get anymore what will fill the gaps between them?

I'll get all the rest of the land.

Hopefully we'll attract more players. If we don't, I'd suggest you expand your borders. I'll also fill out the rest of the space with pleeb-land (ungoverned peasants and brigands).

Also, I'm currently working on your vassals!

Would it be possible to make a kingdom of the dead, along with my own traits for them?

Well, that depends. What traits did you have in mind?

This would give the Jurans a distinct enemy.

It's only good trait would be a relentless and easily replaceable military that doesn't sleep, eat, or tire. But in return they wouldn't be able to produce next to anything or even be liked by the community at large. I mean who would trust a bunch of rotting stinking dead?

@Orcus

So it's mainly a Military Trait, then? I'm inclined to see where you're going with this! You may post an NS (that said, I cannot guarantee that I will accept the finished product - although I'm not saying that I won't!).

@Orcus So what's their angle? Are they just a dead army trying to murder all the fleshies? Or are they kind of like the T'Lan Imass from Malazan (I think it would be cool to go that route). I'd like to see what you've got but it seems like this gives the rest of the kingdoms of Seyan a casus belli and a cause to ally together against a common foe---which is good in the respect that we'll work together more easily, but might also take away from some of the cloak-and-dagger schemings that are oh so fun.

I think we definitely need to work in some antagonisms between the different nations because we'll have a lot more fun that way imo

Well i was thinking since magic in this universe is largely unpredictable, a incident in the study of magic led to what happened. Stripping a majority of the populace of self control and inhibitions, the more intelligent undead are leaders who have their own goals. So thus their goals ultimately depend on the leader. Some might see their gift of undeath as a gift of immortality and they desire to turn the world, others wish to consume it all, others might see it as a curse and wish to find a way to cure it.

Culture:
Religion-
The majority of people in Operian worship a pantheon of Gods and Godesses representing aspects in the world. This pantheon is refered to as The Vicarium or The Hall of Gods. There exist eight major Gods and Godesses in The Vicarium and four beings refered to as simply the Holy Elements. Twelve minor Gods and Godessess are worshipped as well but are only considered part of the lower Vicarium. It is believed that the new King or Queen is chosen by the first of the Gods, Gezma.

Royalty-
The Royalty of Operian are believe to have been chosen and ordained by the God Gezma. The passing of King to Prince or Princess is not done in Operian. Instead, a tournament is held five years after the King takes his Oath to The Vicarium. Warriors, politicians, merchants, and even children are invited to participate. The tournament is a test of wits, strength, and determination as the participants are put through ten trials to prove that they are chosen by Gezma to rule after the King passes away. When Izmand held the tournament ten years ago, the twelve year old twins Misha and Baelorn were announced to be the first Twin King and Queen rulers of Operian when they tripped their opponent in a fight and caused him to fall and crack his head on a stone, knocking him uncounscious.

Marriage-
Marriage in Operian is done outside and at night time only. It is essentially a ritual to the Godess Miriam, Mother of the Moon and Fertility. When a man wishes to marry a woman, they must spend an entire week offering animals and wheat to Miriam. If Miriam believes in their love, the two would be allowed to marry under the moon. Such a blessing would be interpreted by an oracle or a star-reader. No dowries are exchanged in marriages nor are parties held. Instead, the parties connect together as one family and combine their estates together. As such, many families in Operian are large.

Providencal-
Operian is a Kingdom with three providences. The providence of Kemin is home to Jueria, the capital of Operian. It runs along the north-south flowing river known as Tamist. Kemin is ruled over by the King of Operian himself and flourishes under his patronage. The second providence is that of Pimmin ruled by Duke Jirmin. It runs along the river of Hasig which connects directly to the Tamist further north of the river Kallisk. The kind Duke allows the peasents as much freedom as they require to do their jobs and as such Pimmin is the most industrial of the providences. The third providence was once a vassal of Operian known as Juriba and runs along the river of the Kallisk. Gerask is still ruled over by their Duchess Ulisse and is still mostly free to function however the Duchess sees fit.

Military:
The military of Operian is led by the High General Ricard Pixt and has a long standing history of fighting skirmishes rather than full on battles. The forces of Operian are smalled compared to most others but fight by ambushing their target in the dead of night and leaving few signs that they were there. Their navy is quite the same by attacking in dead of night and using the many reefs around the coast to trap enemy ships and blockade incoming supplies. The quick ships of Operian are often manned by the exact same soldiers of land who practice ambushes against larger foes. Horses are in short supply in Operian and, as such, calvary is nearly nonexistant in the military and are often used for carrying supplies when needed. The archers of Operian fire from the high hills and cliffs throughout the Kingdom when it is assaulted.

Economy:
The lands of Operian are mostly forests and rough hills and as such are not known for being great for farming. Much of Operian's economy relies on logging, fishing, and mining as an income. Hunters and pelt traders make a good sum of money as well but is minor compared to the other three functions in Operian. The Mountains of Ovet are rich in iron, gold, copper, and tin but mostly lacking in fine jewels such as emeralds, rubies, diamonds, and amethysts. Opals and topazes can be found occasionally when digging deeper into the mountain but this is rare.

Reputation:
The Kingdom of Operian is reputated to be a nation which strikes like a snake. It is rare for an enemy soldier to come back from battle alive when assaulting the lands of Operian. On the other hand, Operian soldiers aren't good at assaulting foreign lands. Some believe the Baelorn is as corrupt as a merchant prince while his sister Misha is out fighting wolves rather than preparing for Queenhood. It is even believed the Izmand's daughter Kotari if less like a princess and more like a general in battle when she sparring words with people. Some people would even say the Izmand's own wife is having a little action on the side with some sort of muse of her's.

History:
Operian was formed a mere six hundred years ago when the Kingdom of Loupist fell to a rebellion. Operian was the outcome of the rebellion and was formed by the King Higor. It was Higor who was chosen by Gezma to lead Operian and as such he continued on the tradition by performing a tournament to decide his heir. Early on in Operian's history, a few supporters of Loupist were still alive and tried to over thorw the Kingdom despite the fact that it was unsupported. Assassination attempts weren't rare for Higor and he had long grown use to the near constant attempt on his life. Higor tore down the town of Iman from Loupist's time and built over it Jueria and the temple to Gezma. The city of Jueria has been growing rapidly since then.

Operian had a rather peacful existence aside from all of that. The skirmishes by tribes north of Operian were easily repelled by Operian's army. Pirates were kept in check by the navy easily enough. Relations were amazing between Operian and their souther most neighbor Juriba. The only war Operian was every involved in was a massive band of sixty northern raiders which numbered in nearly hundred thousand soldiers. Their mostly organized assualt was slowed by the freezing cold of winter and broken apart by the small skirmish forces of Operian who easily set traps and used their large spy network to sow the seeds of dissent in the forces. Within months, nearly half of the forces deserted or were killed and the other half had nearly no moral and supplies. The war was over before spring came.

Relations with Juriba was prosperous not to long after that as it came to light the Operian was basically a protectorate of the small Juriba. It was proposed early on in their relationship that Juriba became a vassel of Operian. But, it wasn't until King Izmand's marriage to Princess Tamrie of Jurida that they became one. As a sign of their trust, Ulisse handed over Juriba and Tamrie over to Izmand. Izmand had an uneventful first few years of marriag until, a year after their marriage his daughter Kotari was born. But recent events have taken a turn for the worse as a terrible drought has left the country reeling on low supplies while merchants gorge themselves on imported meats and cheeses.

Misc:

Vassals of the Kingdom of Operian

House Jirmin
Ruled by Ormand Jirmin, Duke of Pimmin. The Duke is a kind old man of 65, known for his lenience with the peasantry. He is however not known for being brave or eager to do battle, having earned him the nickname “Duke Delay” among his less friendly acquaintances. The Duke lost his wife and children to sickness a few years ago, but his younger sister Sasha, 45, still lives.

The Jirmins are beloved and respected by their people, and are in turn loyal to the crown. They have never given cause for discord, although they have never really committed to any military campaign. There are rumors circulating about the Dukes sister Sasha, claiming she is heavily indebted to one of the more prominent merchant guilds.

House Ulisse
Ruled by Nadiege Ulisse, Duchess of Juriba. The Duchess is a woman of 55 years of age and is known all across the realm as a potent politician and ruler. Her family consists of her husband Jean, 56, and their two daughters Queen Tamrie Louzbain and her younger sister Sabine.

The Ulisses are known for their great independence. The Duchess is a hard woman with the needs of her people foremost in mind. They are loyal to the crown and have proven that loyalty many times, but some say that if push comes to shove the Duchess will choose Juriba over Operian.
