It appeared that Ash did not like the suggestion of speeding their conversation up to get back to the coffee that he had already ordered.
"Not until we're done," hissed Ash, his eyes narrowing as he grabbed Curt's collar, "Not unt-" He paused, looking back at the door, then back at Curt, then the door again. "Stay here and don't get into trouble," Ash let go of his collar and and left the back room. Curtis had no idea what Ash was up to. Something had obviously occurred to shake him up, which is something that is quite out of the ordinary. Ash may be a bit of a hot-head but for the most part he always kept his cool. It was all part of his precious "I couldn't care less/fuck off" persona that he so lovingly created. However his thoughts were interrupted by Ash bursting back into the room.

"Here,"
Suddenly Curtis was holding the latte that he had ordered, and Ash had decided to bring a guest to their little backroom discussion. Crystal, the barista that had taken his order.
"Show us what you can do,"
"You're gonna have to be more specific than that."
"I know you can do something. Yormie wouldn't be int-" Ash was interrupted by his faithful companion making an appearance. Yormie was nice enough, for a reptile. Ash has owned Yormie for quite some time and the serpent was just now warming up to Curtis.
"The stupid snake wouldn't be so curious about you. Spill, what can you do?"
Ash allowed a flame to leap to life in the palm of his hand. Then in some bizarre display Ash formed the flame into some kind of god forsaken hat.
"Now share yours."
Crystal was obviously shocked by Ash's little show. Well....cat's out of the bag. Curtis thought to himself.
"Well, boys. This has been a very eventful evening. Thank you for showing me your magic trick. Unfortunately, I'm not interested in those things, mister magician."

She was trying to leave. Ash had just blown their secret wide open and the only other person that knows was just going to leave without saying anything. Curtis couldn't have that. He focused on the tiles on either side of the door, luckily they were ceramic. He tilted them all slightly upwards. Enough that the door wasn't going to open without a great deal of force, and hopefully no one would notice.
"Crystal. I know its hard to believe, but just listen. Ash and I aren't doing any kind of magicians." Curtis summoned a tile from the ground and had it float just about waist level. He sat his latte upon it. "Ash is convinced that you can do things like we can. Its fine if you can't, heaven knows that Ash has been wrong before, but we now have a problem. You now know what we do. If you are like us then I feel like its common courtesy that you share with us. If you aren't then that's fine too, however either way you aren't leaving until I feel like our secret is safe." Curtis picked his latte back up and slowly lowered the tile back into place, his eyes fixed on Crystal the entire time.

Michelle's eyes widened as she heard that he had jumped from the roof of the school, and she was starting to think that he must have a power like she herself did, because the kid seemed too normal, to be crazy and suicidal.

She then nodded happily at his reply to her almost forgotten question, of her phone call to work. Quickly she dialed the number and the phone rung.

On the other side of the phone call there was a phone ringing. It was in a big office building, at the second highest floor. It was in a private office, with important papers stacked neatly and family pictures on the walls. The man's office it was, was sitting back in his comfy leather chair with wheels and he was just finishing telling off a rookie traffic director. "I don't care if they say they'll call the police if their car doesn't get through the intersection when they want it to. By law we are doing our job and doing it right, so if they threaten the police again, you can damn well tell them that if they don't call the police themselves we sure as hell will." he growled.

The rookie, was just a young guy, new to the job and he wasn't used to his boss's gruff manor, "Y-yes of course, I will sir." He stuttered a little nervously as he replied and at his boss's subtle nod as permission to leave, the rookie almost ran back to his post.

Then the boss at last noticed that his phone was ringing, and he glared at it before picking it up, "Yes, Mason's Traffic Direction Services Office here, how can I help you?"

Michelle smiled sheepishly at hearing her boss's voice, and quickly explained that she couldn't come to work today because she had to take someone to the hospital and make sure they were ok.

"Your going to miss the whole shift, to take the person to the hospital, your sure that takes five hours?" Her boss asked cynically.

"Well I need to make sure he's okay and everything." Michelle explained.

Her boss stroked his mustaches a little frustrated, that he was down a person for the whole night, eventually though he relented, "Alright just make sure your here tomorrow, no excuses. Understand?"

"Crystal Clear, Sir." She replied with a happy tone in her voice.

"Alright, bye Michelle."

"Bye, Sir."

Michelle hung up the phone and then put it in her pocket as she turned back to Josh. "Thanks a lot, Josh, I think I saved myself getting fired at least with that phone call." She laughed cheerily.

"I guess we should head in to see the Doctor." She told Josh, and helped him enter the Hospital to find the Doctor. The entrance doors to the Hospital were motion sensor activated thankfully, and as they went down the hall to the reception desk to ask the brown haired receptionist where the doctor was, it turned out he was down the hall straight across from them, on the last door to the left. After a couple minutes they arrived at the door and Michelle knocked, a voice answered "Come in." When they stepped into the patient room where the doctor was dealing with his files, Michelle noticed that he was middle aged, probably about fortyish if she had to guess, blonde haired and blue eyed. After several minutes of waiting for him to look at them, he at last finished with his papers and addressed them. "What seems to be the problem?" he asked them.

Michelle quickly spoke up. "Well it's Josh here, he was in an accident and umm, yeah." She explained.

The doctor nodded as he turned to look at Josh, "Where are you injured?"

Now in the Doctors office josh grunted as he leaned against the cabnit infront of him "well Doc, my shoulder aching , my knee is in pain and I think I might have a slight concossion, happens when you fall off the school roof and onto the roof of someones car right?" he chuckled nervously. He never liked doctors, they always kinda creeped him out, but he would have to get this over with as quickly as possible " i think my shoulder is broken, really hurts" he said again, probably too fast for the doctor to understand let alone treat.

He glanced at Michelle for a second, then back to the Doctor "could you uh...do your thing?, with as little needles as possible?" he joked smiling. The Doctor raised an eyebrow to him.

Maybe not the best day ever but one of the best. He wonderd what his mother was doing right now. Probably cleaning or making dinner, I should call her. Josh reached into his pocket to find his cell phone smashed the screen mostly cracks and tiny peices of glass falling from it "great,' he tossed it into the garbage on the other side of the room, it landing with a thud. Reminding him of his fall onto the car.

It didn't take long to figure out what was going on with the ruckus in front of him. Apparently the guy on the ground managed to get hit by the girl in front of him, and the brash guy on the bike appeared to be a somewhat, possibly concerned citizen, or maybe just an agitated and inconvenienced citizen. Just as Justin was debating backing up and leaving that way he heard the bike guy shout at him, to take the other guy to the hospital. Immediately Justin was annoyed at the idea why the fuck should it be his responsibility to deal with this. In fact he was deeply irritated by bike guy, who did he think he was trying to command him to do something, at the very leas the could have asked politely, or you know if he was actually concerned about the guy's health, insist upon calling an ambulance.

Glancing back at the situation in front if him, he watched bike guy make his exit and the girl help the guy into her car. Sighing with relief Justin watched them begin to leave, he was happy he didn't have to deal with any such drama, not that he wouldn't have, but all in all it seemed like a hassle and in all honesty a waste if his evening. Shifting to drive he resumed on his path to the mall, with the wait and everything that had happened he found himself rather hungry.

After a drive that took a little longer than it should have, Justin pulled into the mall parking lot. He had taken a little longer route on his way just so he could drive a little longer and blare his music a bit more, so as to alleviate the frustration that he felt from his encounter with that guy on the bike, seriously the guy had unnaturally annoyed him. Now as he parked his van he noticed some kid trying to get his truck to work. It'd suck to be him Justin mused.

As he got out of his van and made his way towards the entrance of the mall he looked back at the truck, which was now ablaze. Pausing for a moment in pure astonishment he thought about how quickly the vehicle had apparently caught fire. Just then he noticed the guy check his pockets and then glance at the truck before walking over towards a light post. Slowly Justin began to walk towards the guy, while pulling out his phone and dialing 911. Getting next to the guy he pushed call and handed the phone towards the other teen. "You might want to ask for a fire truck or something."

Before Crystal could even lay a finger on the doorknob, she felt the ground move beneath her; the sudden motion causing her to slightly lose her balance. "Was that an earthquake?" She asked as she turned around to look at the both of them. The look on their faces answered her question. No.

"Crystal. I know its hard to believe, but just listen. Ash and I aren't doing any kind of magicians." This time, it was the guy named Curtis speaking to her; the nicer one between the two -- obviously. Crystal turned around, not wanting to hear anymore of this madness. She turned the doorknob and was ready to get out of there, but the door wouldn't budge. She slammed the door with her palm out of frustration. Looks like she didn't have a choice but to confront the situation instead of running from it.

Crystal turned around and slowly met his gaze. "Ash is convinced that you can do things like we can. Its fine if you can't, heaven knows that Ash has been wrong before, but we now have a problem. You now know what we do. If you are like us then I feel like its common courtesy that you share with us. If you aren't then that's fine too, however either way you aren't leaving until I feel like our secret is safe." Crystal stayed silent for almost a full minute, mentally debating with herself about the right thing she should do in this situation. A sigh escaped her lips, and she shrugged before leaning against the door. "This is nonsense. I never asked either of you to share your lovely secrets with me -- though I appreciate it. It's pretty cool." She said casually while making hand gestures. "But whether I have abilities like you or not, it is my choice if I should share it with you. Just like you made a choice to share yours." Crystal stood up straight and crossed her arms, trying her best not to glare at him. "Your secret is safe with me. If I break my word, you can easily hurt me, right? So why worry?" She asked him seriously without breaking eye contact. "Now I have a job to get back to. I'd appreciate it if you let me leave." This time, she looked at Ash. Knowing that if anyone was going to be stubborn about this, it would be him.

As calm and collected Crystal may have looked on the outside, deep inside, she had so many unanswered questions. Just who were they? For the first time in four years, she finally met others like her. She didn't know how to feel. Was she supposed to be happy or worried? Now she was certain that there were more like them out there. Just how many of them existed? So many thoughts and questions crossed her mind. She was starting feel uneasy about the whole thing. All of it was just too much to process in on night. A bad one, might she add. She needed at least a week or two to think about the whole thing. Or better, escape it.

Crystal was snapped out of her trance when she noticed a thin layer of fog starting to surround them. The temperature had drastically dropped, and a thin sheet of ice started to cover her palms beneath her leather gloves. Her eyes widened a little, and her breathing started to pick up the pace. She did her best to look calm and normal in front of the two, making sure she didn't give anything away. No, this can't be happening right now. Breathe. She took a deep breath and concentrated. The dry ice that covered her palms slowly went back to its gaseous form; the fog escaping from the openings of her gloves. She quickly turned around to hide them. She cleared her throat and reached for the doorknob, "I really have to go. Please." She told them with a serious tone in her voice -- and maybe a hint of desperation. Her hand started to fidget, and her heart started to beat rapidly. She swallowed down a lump in her throat, doing her best to calm herself.

The room got colder as seconds passed.

Ash's expression moved toward his default confident cocky smirk the moment that she asked if it were an earthquake. His brother had backed him up on this and her reaction was more than enough to tip him off on whether or not this was all new to her. If it was the other barista, she'd have jumped out of her skin twice over. This little ice queen hadn't even broken a sweat. Instead she was trying to play it cool. She seemed to be unaware that that was Ash's thing.

"This is nonsense. I never asked either of you to share your lovely secrets with me -- though I appreciate it. It's pretty cool, but whether I have abilities like you or not, it is my choice if I should share it with you. Just like you made a choice to share yours." Ash rolled his eyes at her, already deciding for her whether or not she'd show what she could do. He was already beginning to imagine how he'd kidnap her and demand from her all the information she had about these powers. In part, he wanted to know how he could get more or how he could amp his up to the next level. If she knew about powers, she'd probably know something, right? "Your secret is safe with me. If I break my word, you can easily hurt me, right? So why worry?" Ash looked back to his brother, his face blank, expressing clearly how disinterested he was in what she was saying. Like he'd be worried about her spilling his secret. She'd just look like a loony teenage brat trying to get attention. She was trying to get rid of them and it sure as hell wasn't going to work. At least, not on Ash. Stubborn was his middle name.

Well, James was his middle name, but Stubborn should have been.

She looked at him and announced that she was going to leave. If it weren't for the slightest bit of common decency, Ash had the idea in him to melt the lock and trap her in there with him and Curt. "Be on your way then," he motioned toward the door, having already decided that he'd nab her after her shift. He was patient enough for that. If it weren't for his power, he'd have noticed the sudden drop in temperature, but unlike the others in the room Ash was perpetually cruising at a pleasantly warm body temperature. If it wasn't for his breath suddenly becoming visible, he'd have assumed nothing was unusual. "Well, isn't that just interesting. Decided to bring something to show n' tell after all, huh?" Ash nearly laughed from the new excitement welling up in him. For a moment he looked to Curt and mouthed 'I fucking told you so'. She wasn't looking at either of them anymore, her gaze turned downward, internal. She was now battling with herself which would be a nice breather.

The trickling of fog upwards from her gloved hands caught his attention and he looked down, impulsively grabbing her hands and bringing them up to him. Unaware to his own body, a small trickle of smoke trailed out of his nostrils, his stomach oddly feeling warm. Well, if it kept him warm it'd have to do. "You too cold, Curt? You can hop on out. It's a little too balmy in here for myself. Might break a sweat soon." Ash said nonchalantly, fully aware of how cold it must have gotten by the sound of Curt's chattering teeth. To the girl, his hands would be hot like pavement on a sunny summer afternoon and to him, the frigid ice effects from her hand were nothing more than a dull bit of visuals. "So, you do something with ice then? Can't have you going out there if you're gonna freeze all the regulars. You're already turning dear ol Curtie into a Curtsicle." His eyes were now glowing like burning coals and the vein in his neck was glowing a deep red, growing brighter ever so slowly.

Curtis watched Crystal's reaction to being unable to leave.
I'd appreciate it if you let me leave."
Curtis was about to let her leave, but then he felt something. It was getting colder, and the temperature was dropping lower and lower. A small smile spread across his face. Ash was right. They had found someone like them.
"Well, isn't that just interesting. Decided to bring something to show n' tell after all, huh?"
For a moment he looked to Curt and mouthed 'I fucking told you so'. She wasn't looking at either of them anymore, her gaze turned downward, internal. She was now battling with herself which would be a nice breather.

Curtis was starting to get really cold. He could clearly see breath, and his teeth had involuntarily begun to chatter.
"You too cold, Curt? You can hop on out. It's a little too balmy in here for myself. Might break a sweat soon."
"So, you do something with ice then? Can't have you going out there if you're gonna freeze all the regulars. You're already turning dear ol Curtie into a Curtsicle."
He could see that Ash's powers were keeping him nice and toasty. Curtis didn't have that luxury.
"So Crystal can make things get cold. That's cool, pun intended." Curtis managed to get that out between chattering teeth. He took a long drink of his latte, hoping it would warm him up. It didn't work, it had already gone cold. "Now that you've shown us your trick it looks like we are all square. I'm gonna head back outside before I freeze to death. You two can continue to chat it up if you want to.

Curtis lowered the tiles barring the door as he made his way past Crystal. He stepped back into the cafe, closing the door behind him. The metal doorknob stuck to his hand for a moment. It was getting REALLY cold in there. The cafe hadn't gotten any busier in their absence, but the barista shot him a dirty look none the less. He returned it with a smile and a wave, he was to preoccupied to care about her. Curtis and Ash weren't alone in all this superpowered madness. It also proved that it wasn't genetic, as Crystal wasn't related to the twins in any way. However it wasn't all good news, it just raised more questions. How many more people like them were out there? How did they get their powers? Now that Crystal knew about the twins and the twins knew about her would she continue to serve Curtis his favorite coffee drinks? All these questions buzzed around Curtis's head when something caught his eye. Fog was beginning to seep out from under the backroom door.

Michelle watched the Doctor as he responded with simple answers to the listing of Josh's injuries. "Shoulder, ache rest it for a day. Knee you can use run of the mill, non prescription pain killer. The concussion, you should undergo an mri scan where you lay on a bed and then we slide you into a machine to see what is going on in your brain. See if you do have a concussion."

Michelle eyes widened in shock at the mention of the M.R.I. machine. Wasn't that a bit much? But then he was a medical professional so if anyone would know what was enough, it would be him. She then looked at Josh to see how he would take the news.

Josh sighed out of some medical related fear "alright better get this over with right?, when do I take this MRI?" he asked cautiously. He saw Michelle look at him, he turned to her and stuck his tongue out at her playfully, trying to hide his nervousness "after this we will head to my place, you can use my car while yours get repaired okay?" he said smiling, "and don't you say no".

School, it was Carson's bane and an utmost pain in his ass. If he wasn't such a lazy individual then there might be the slightest chance of him excelling and maybe even give him a chance at honor roll but since he was, the hope of that was null and void. Carson hadn't always been like this but it had started with a vengeance that his parents probably cursed every waking moment. It wasn't that he particularly hated everything about school, it was that it was particularly boring and he didn't have the mental capability of focusing on things that bored him. Carson wasn't even sure he had the mental capability of finishing the test they'd made him stay back to complete but now that he was escaping the brick building, he felt much better. It was just a lot nicer to be free and he could nearly breathe now, the day had possibilities but he had nothing scheduled so they just weren't really his possibilities.

Weighing his options hopefully, he decided that he couldn't really go wrong with the cafe. It wasn't a place he frequented much but it was a place he was familiar with and with his parents arguing avidly at home, it was a place he could hide in for a few hours. Maybe pester a few frequenters that he knew, maybe find a party to spend the rest of the night at. That was the initial plan anyway and far be it from him to stop himself from being an innovator and an idealist. Honestly, he could have gone anywhere to escape his parental figures and they're penchant for breathless yelling but his scattered friends all seemed to be doing something, as if he cared for their company anyhow. Every now a then he could handle the half-hearted banter between them and himself but a good lot of the time, they seemed to be out of it, so he supposed that he was better off trying to grab a coffee-shop friend.

The mall was always teeming with activity and that was what he liked, people, activity, noise. There was something about it that made him excited, brought out the best in him. It was a side of him that never showed itself in school, social and warm, ready to make quips at a moment's notice and eager to impress. He came off as kind of a lost soul in school, kind of just following the more popular brand of teens around and not really invested into anything. He was bored, irritated and kind of a killjoy until he was surrounded in positive activity, ample amounts of people and various social endeavors, it gave his wings room to stretch and it made him happy. That was all he'd ever really wanted, an escape to something pleasant. Walking to the cafe was easy, kept his mind from wandering to the things he was pushing backwards in it. Things like the party and the smiling child. Things he couldn't clear out.

Pulling the worn pack of mix-matched cigarettes from his pocket, he counted them over again and made a face. He was definitely getting low and trying to get cigarettes off of other people got ridiculous sometimes, but it kept him from having to ask his poor old mother to buy him anything. Shoving the crumpled pack back into his pocket, he headed towards the cafe and drew in a deep breath of the air, it calmed his nerves as he approached, already recognizing a face or two when he opened the door. People from the school were always worth it, they were familiar and familiar was good. Relaxing his shoulders, he made his way to one of the tables nearer to the door and sucked in a breath. The second breath wasn't as easy but it got a roguish grin out of him and that was enough, a game face could make him appear to be anyone. It made him feel calm.

He could see another boy in the cafe, one he definitely went to school with, one of those um twins, right? He'd seen this guy around like once or twice. Something with a C, like Curt, was it Curt? He furrowed his eyebrows when he realized he was grinning at some random guy in a cafe and glanced up at the ceiling instead, it took all he had not to start whistling in a very unassuming way. His peripheral vision caught fog seeping from beneath the door and nervousness settled over him but again, he was choosing to ignore the strange and swallowed thickly before glancing at the wall.

"What is going on with me?" a desperate mutter to himself at best, he drug his hand down his face and shook his head.

The Doctor looked between the two young people, Josh and Michelle as he finished talking to gauge their reactions to his words. The Medical Professional then noticed Michelle glance toward Josh with a worried face, and he was quick to say, "The M.R.I. scan itself is nothing to worry about, not even radiation. I know this because I have conducted hundreds of them without harming any of the patients."

Having finished speaking, Doc. turned to Josh in time to hear his questions. "Yes, getting the scan 'over with' is in your best interest and I can only have the M.R.I. scheduled an hour from now, as that is when Mr. Wayde, our Neurologist's schedule allows him to oversee the M.R.I scan...

Michelle nodded nervously, as she heard the doctor speak to them and explain all about the M.R.I. That it was necessary, and it was safe, even so, she still worried about how Josh would take the news, as she continued to look at him and crossed her fingers of her left hand behind her back as a silent sign of good luck for him.

Michelle smiled as Josh stuck his tongue out at her, and offered for her to go to his place later, even going as far as to lend her his car as a substitute while hers was at the Mechanics. It was such a nice offer, and it seemed to her that Josh wasn't bothered with the upcoming M.R.I. scan, a whole new experience of people looking at his brain, And he's not scared.

She was so impressed with him, that she hugged him without warning, and she altered the sound of her voice as she replied to him, "Josh, your a really awesome guy." she said in the soft voice that sounded very much like a weak wind, into his shoulder.

The Doctor noticed the two young people were having a hug and he decided to leave the room, "I'll just leave you two be for a minute, shall I?" He said a little awkardly, and then left without waiting for an answer, closing the door behind him.

A low humming filled the cafe as a girl with a long blonde braid walked in, the door subtly opening on its own. She donned a pair of old pink converse that she was quite notable for wearing often to school and over-sized hoodie over a pair of jean shorts. As she adjusted her grip the strip of a small backpack, she took a quick glance at the people around her and grinned. In a small town, one was bound to run into people from school just about everywhere one went. For some people, that was a bad thing. For Rosaline, it was a different story. She liked being around other people. She recognized two of them from school and recalled their names being Curtis and Carson. Rose smiled and waved at them. She didn't know them all too well but she had seen them around and they had seemed like nice people. She couldn't help but wonder what they would think of her if they knew what she could do.

It had been about two years since Rose had first discovered she was different. She had initially just dismissed it after the incident. However, the memory would surface in her thoughts often. It just hadn't made sense. How would a small girl like her throw three men to the floor without laying a finger on them? She gave up on trying to understand it eventually until one day, it happened again. When she had been lounging around on the couch watching TV, the remote by her hand had floated up on its own accord. At first she had stared at it in shock but with a simple thought it fell back to its spot. Of course, Rose just thought she was going insane or dreaming yet it would keep happening. Objects around her would levitate into the air at the most random of times. She soon discovered she could control it and began to finally accept that this was reality.

Nonetheless, Rose really had no idea what to make of it. She was unsure if she should have considered herself a freak or the most awesome person on the planet. Either way, she decided the best course of action was to keep it a secret... but that didn't mean she wasn't going to have fun with it. This past year, Rose had really started to get the hang of it. At first, she was reluctant to use the ability in public. It wasn't long before she realized that she could get away with using it and no one would notice. People tended not to notice small things and if they did, they brushed it off as their imagination. The fact of the matter was that most people were inattentive and completely oblivious to their surroundings.

"Hi there! I'd like an iced caramel latte please!"Rose greeted the barista cheerfully, taking her wallet out of her bag as she spoke. She idly allowed a straw to pop out of the holder near the register and into her hand without looking at it. The action was quick and unnoticeable to most onlookers. She paused in her actions when something peculiar caught her eye. Fog was seeping from the crack of a door in the back of the cafe. Maybe the freezer was acting up. She did a double take then followed the gaze of other people in the room. It seemed as if she was not the only one who noticed it but no one was really saying anything about it. "Someone should probably check that out."Rose finally decided to comment and pointed to the door.

Crystal removed her gloves and dropped them to the ground. She rubbed her hands together, hoping that if she got a better feel of them, maybe she'd gain more control of her powers. That was obviously not the case because removing them didn't change a thing. The temperature continued to drop and ice slowly blanketed the ceiling. She cussed mentally as she tried to figure a way out of this.

Crystal's train of thoughts broke when warm hands grabbed hers quite roughly. Heaps of fog seeped through her hands where he touched them. The heat felt hot enough to melt a huge chunk of ice in just a matter of seconds, but as seconds passed, it turned into the kind of warmth your blanket would give you on a winter night. In other words, it felt very comfortable. Crystal scowled; did she really just think that his hands were comfortable? The thought alone was outrageous. "Let me go." She pulled her hands away, giving up when she realized there was no way she could beat him in physical strength alone. "You too cold, Curt? You can hop on out. It's a little too balmy in here for myself. Might break a sweat soon." She turned her gaze towards Chris and noticed that his face was paling, and only then did she realize how cold the room had gotten. Her suppressed powers were leaking out of her like crazy, and it was turning the whole room into a freezer. She knew she had to get out of this place soon, but she could only do that once she successfully manages to get rid of this persistent fire-dude.

"So, you do something with ice then? Can't have you going out there if you're gonna freeze all the regulars. You're already turning dear ol Curtie into a Curtsicle." Crystal glared at him; her vibrant caribean blue eyes staring at his amber ones. It somehow looked like fire was dancing in his eyes, and she noticed the vein on his neck that slowly glowed bright red, as if lava was flowing through his veins. He must have really been enjoying all this. "Sorry hun, I don't know what you're talking about." She said with a challenging tone, refusing to break eye contact. A thin sheet of ice began to cover his hands, slowly running up to his forearms. She knew the coldness had no effect on him, but the glint of excitement in his eyes when he found out she was like him amused her. "So Crystal can make things get cold. That's cool, pun intended." Crystal couldn't help but roll her eyes at his joke. Curt left soon after and she was left alone with Ash, much to her distaste.

Thick fog surrounded them, and the ice that lay on his warm skin produced more as the ice slowly sublimated. It would be very harmful for anyone to enter this room and inhale all the carbon dioxide. Now she wondered if Ash was somehow immune to that; he did not look fazed by it -- which was a good thing. He was stubborn and annoying, but she surely didn't want him dead because of her. "Hope you've had enough of all these little tricks. I'm leaving." She said with a monotonic voice, clearly showing how uninterested she was about this whole thing. Crystal was a little bit worried about what she would do with the frozen stock room, but she was too stressed to think of a solution and decided she'd think about it later. Great. Just great. She breathed deeply, feeling very defeated.

Carson just barely caught the wave from the cute blonde before he glanced over to her, inadvertently putting himself in a position where he had to see the fog creeping from beneath the door again. The girl's response was a rational one and it nearly calmed him because of course, that's what a normal person would think. With the way he was jumping to peg everything as supernatural, one would think that he'd gone absolutely insane. It didn't have to have anything to do with the weird occurrence at the party, it was just a freezer acting up. It was something fixable. He had to start thinking rationally about these things, sometimes electrical appliances broke and sometimes they made big shows out of their smoking and sparking and it was going to be alright. He couldn't help the nervousness, the party had only been two days ago and that was the last time he'd showed his face at home.

The rumors had been funny, one depicting a dramatic scene of him screaming before running off into the night and crashing on the curb from exhaustion. False. One that said he ran off after the child mysteriously disappeared and spent the night on a bench like a common homeless man. True. He'd only expected as much with a clean reputation like his, people like Carson Graye didn't ditch parties, people like Carson Graye didn't sleep on benches and go a single day without changing his outfit. It wasn't something he did, it wasn't Carson Graye. He'd felt weird ever since the small child had appeared, ever since he'd realized he could do something, even if he didn't know exactly what.

His mother knew where he was, constantly calling him and telling him to come home before his dad threw one of his legendary fits but he doubted the older man cared much. He was generally busy working at the hospital and by the time he got home, there were screaming matches about how no one respected what he did for the family. There was no reason to despise his home life when his father wasn't home though. It was something in the air of the big house and the way his mother squirreled off to watch the ID channel instead of bothering to ask why her son reeked of booze.

It wasn't really much of a home anymore and he supposed that was the problem, he didn't want to be a part of it. He reminded his mother of his dad, and he understood why, a full head of red hair that curled at the ends naturally and high cheekbones and an aristocratic nose. He had the same handsome face, the same quick temper. He'd always had his mother's sky blue eyes though, her gentle crooked smile and her pale freckles gathered on the bridge of his nose. She rightfully saw more of his father in him but he liked to hold onto the qualities that set him apart.

It would have been easier to live out his days sleeping on the bench at the park, he'd just have to collect his clothes sometime without alerting his mother of his presence. It would be easy enough if he thought of the house as something silly, perhaps a castle that he had to ramshackle. He could make a game of it, maybe try to shimmy up the rain gutter or something. It would be a great test of just how ready he was to be on his own.

Shaking away from his thoughts, he offered the girl a lofty smile, tilted higher to one side than the other. It had an effect that nearly made him look kind of goofy. "Hey there, your name is Rose, right? I think I've seen you around." said easily before he glanced to the boy, he was almost positive he was named Curt or oh, Curtis. "Small town! You're Curtis. I know of you, kind of, vaguely but I can't say anyone knows me any better. Hey, I'm Carson Graye. Can't be too sure if I share a class with either of you but it's cool to see you either way. Get to see enough of our classmates though with this place being so tiny and all. Kind of just a matter of luck on who you run into. I wonder what's going on back there with the um, y'know fog, seems kind of funky. Gotta be a good reason, like full blown freezer meltdown or something." a soft laugh, a closer to his endless stream of words.

What was that?. Josh thought as he hugged her back. Her voice changed, maybe it was just the way the sound hit his ear. He ignored it as the doctor said something "no, don't worry Doc, I'll get ready to change." Josh stood up slowly, trying not to break the hug "I gotta change into the garment thing, maybe if your lucky you might get to see my bum". He joked Grabbing his Garment.

I wonder how mom is going to react to this? he thought.

The Doctor was already down the hall and in another patient's room and so he did not hear Josh call after him.

Michelle, raised her head from Josh's shoulder as he stood up. Then she heard him mention that he was going to change and she might get to see his bum. Her face went crimson, as she blushed. She gently released her arms from around him and politely explained, "I'll be outside, so you can change yourself in peace." She then exited the room, and stood in the hallway looking at the ceiling with her face still red.

It was an awkward situation for Michelle and she handled it best as she thought she could.

Curtis sat in the cafe, giddy with what him and Ash had just discovered. He sat in his booth looking back out into the crowd. There could easily be more of them out there. People who were given these gifts. Maybe they could find more, and find out exactly what caused them to gain these powers. Curtis noticed two more people enter the cafe. First a boy named Carson, Curtis recognized him from school and had heard about the party scene that seemed to revolve around the boy. The next person to enter was a blonde-headed girl. Curtis knew her from school, they were both seniors if he recalled correctly, he just couldn't place her name. Curtis watched as Carson eyed him and the girl went to order her drink, all the while fog continued to bellow out from under the back room. What the hell is going on in there. People are going to start noticing this. He nervously glanced back to the others in the cafe. However it was too late. The blonde headed girl pointed out the fog to others, and now everyone was looking at it.

Before Curtis could go back to Crystal and Ash and tell them to knock off whatever the hell it was they were doing Carson spoke up.
So the girl's name was Rose. Curtis took a quick mental note of that before turning his attention towards Carson. "Hey Carson! Yeah I don't know about that back room, I guess the freezer is out of whack. I'm here all the time and this is the first time I've seen this happen. I hope they get it fixed, I need my iced lattes! How's life been treating you?" Curtis was glad to have some company, but in the back of the mind he was still thinking about Ash and Crystal.

"Yep that's me!" Rose replied to Carson with a smile, blushing a little at the goofy smile he had given her. "I don't know if we have the same classes either but I see you in my lunch period all the time." She looked back at the fog then at them and shrugged, "As long as I get my coffee, I could care less. It's probably nothing. " Rose wasn't exactly sure on that. If she could make things fly into the air, who knew what else was possible? God if people knew, she'd be the town freak for sure. If someone else could do crazy stuff, she assumed that probably, like herself, he or she did not want others to know that.

"Has anyone tried knocking on the door?" Rose asked with a sigh. Oh wait. No one needs to. Rose realized. She tilted her head, focusing on the door knob. It jiggled a little on its own but Rose didn't think anyone would notice. It was locked. Why would the door be locked? She chewed on her lip. Could she get it open? She'd probably have to go look on the inside to see what was in there. Rose gazed around, looking for something that could be of use. Her gaze fell upon one of the people seated at the tables. He was hunched over his work, immersed in it. She supposed he wouldn't notice if the paper clip holding some of his papers together disappeared. She knew very well how to open a lock with one. It had came in handy whenever she had got grounded in her room and wanted to sneak out. However, could she do it without doing it physically and without anyone noticing? Rose wasn't sure why she wanted to go through all this trouble but she had a gut feeling that it could be important.

"I'll be right back. " Rose told Curtis and Carson abruptly. She headed over towards the women's bathrooms then hid behind the wall. She narrowed her eyes, focusing on the paper clip. It slowly began to inch off the man's paperwork. Come on, come on... It fell off the table and stopped midair finally. She carefully levitated it at ground level over to her and caught it in her hands. She glanced around to make sure no one was looking before beginning to bend it in the necessary shape.

"Well, honestly. It seems like I'm just avoiding trouble. Y'heard those rumors? Gnarly stuff." though the rumors hadn't been much of a problem, he'd been kind of amused by the whole scene. People could be so creative if they were given the chance and they'd really been given the chance. He was good at pretending that they bothered him though, that slightly disappointed curve to his mouth, a push of a brow, a head shake. It was a fluent move but it slipped back into an easy smile and he leaned back in his seat, propping his arms up behind him. He all but propped his feet on the table, though that wasn't entirely beyond him, he didn't feel like being that obnoxious kid in the coffee shop today. Maybe tomorrow but definitely not today.

He visibly and mentally relaxed at talking to the other boy, and nearly perked when the blonde girl responded to him as well. It wasn't like he expected her to ignore him but having her respond was just so nice. As long as he was talking, he didn't have to worry about the party or the smiling kid, he didn't have to even think about it. He loved company so much that it was nearly ridiculous, it had the effect of someone petting an overly eager dog, he basked in it. When the girl started messing with the door though, he became nearly frantic for a moment, it was that weird fearful edge. What if the fridge wasn't screwing up? What if there was something else? Nervously, he watched her head off to the ladies room, catching something small shoot forward after her, he blinked in astonishment.

Rubbing at his eyes a moment, he decided that he couldn't automatically assume it was connected in any way. He hadn't even seen what it was, it might have been a fly of some sort. It was hot, flies were bound to drift in, right? Straight through the mall, through crowds of people, into a cafe. Perfect logic right there with our brain sergeant Carson Graye. Denial wasn't a pretty color on him and he tried to pretend that he wasn't just swimming in it. Instead he turned his nervous attention back to Curtis, Carson was almost positive that he was a second short of breaking a sweat. Fantastic. Like he needed to sweat into this shirt anymore, this was getting ridiculous.

He just had to calm down. He needed a breather, he wasn't supposed to act like this. "Not a huge coffee fan myself, but I can drink it." his voice wasn't even anymore, it was rising and dropping as if he was on the edge of screaming and running off. Making a face at himself, he forced his mouth back into a smile and drew in a deep breath. "Usually just end up meeting people here, gotta handle my time wisely or else I never end up doing anything. That freezer seems to be a big issue though, look at all that fog. It can't be healthy to inhale that."

"Losing your cool?" Ash smirked, blowing a puff of smoke into the air, his breath doing its best to condense with the snow frosty air. He planted a hand on her back, feeling the slight chill of her skin through the blistering heat of his own. "I take it you don't mind the cold, huh? More or less the opposite with yours truly." He said cooly, reaching for the doorknob and giving it a quick little twist, noticing it was locked. He didn't remember doing that, but there was a chance Chris might've done it before he left. He went to thumb off the lock when a sound similiar to cracking glass rumbled out of the knob. When he pulled his hand away, he noticed that the doorknob had come with it. "Well, shit." He frowned, chucking the knob over his shoulder. He could always melt their way out, but that would be rather rude now, wouldn't it?

A creaking, like old floorboards in the middle of the night began to whine out from the otherside of the door, around where the other half of the nob was. Someone was trying to get in and more notably, someone was fiddling with the lock. Before Ash could do anything about that, a sudden jerk under his jacket reminded him of a very important companion who was now wiggling his way out of his jacket. Ash quickly brought his hand up to the snake and wrapped his fingers around her, grimmacing at how cold she had become. "You're gonna have to warm up, girlie. You're gonna kill my snake." The sound of shifting tumblers was clear enough that whomever was on the otherside was getting close and if it weren't for Yormie, he'd have waited. He shoved the snake back into his jacket and jammed a finger into the lock, the skin glowing white hot causing the lock to melt away and let the door pop open.

"Time's up," he hissed, quickly ripping out a cigarette from a jacket pocket and showing it to his mouth before lighting it with a finger. Smoke was still trickling out of his nostrils and that would at least help cover it up. He cracked the door open and slid out into the cafe, sheepishly smiling at all the new faces. "Uh, the girl and I were fooling around and kinda kicked the freezer into overdrive," Ash glanced back at the door, not sure why that was his default excuse. The jerking under his shirt resumed as thick muscles squirmed along his chest, Yormie poking her head out of the jacket. "Get back in yo-" Yormie nearly lept from his jacket, falling to the ground with a wet slap. The barista shrieked, Ash sighed, Yormie contently pushed her way along the ground toward one of the new faces, her tongue flicking out to get a good scent of the girl. "Oh," Ash said flatly, looking over at the barista. "Get out, now." He ordered her, the barista about to make a protest when she noticed the flames on his finger tips and shot out of the cafe like a gunshot. "Hope you don't like this place's coffee too much, Cutie," Ash looked toward the girl, who commanded Yormie's complete attention. "Sharade's up, girl. Spill while we all still have time to play this little game." Before she could play the bullshit game like the ice queen, he held up his right hand and formed a ball of fire that rotated in his palm. "Oh, and other guy. I hope you're either special or good at playing dumb. Cause if you aren't, you ain't leavin."
