The definition of "Fear" varies from person to person.

For some people, it's insects. For others, it might be animals, or heights.

And for many, it's the Dark.

Ever since the dawn of man, all human advancement has been derived from a single, all-important invention. Fire. Light. The power to drive away the dark. Since then, mankind has travelled far, invented things the old era could never even dream of, and even coming as far as to touch the stars.

However, they have never forgotten their most powerful, and ancient fear.

They remember the dark.

And it remembers them.

• Standard roleplaying rules apply. (i.e. No Metagaming, Godmodding, Auto-hitting.)
• No being a bully OOC.
• This roleplay is set in a fictional copy of Vancouver, Canada. It's basically Vancouver, but I may alter or add locations for the sake of convenience. Your characters do not have to be Canadian, but they have to be in Vancouver somehow at the point of the roleplay's start.
• Character limit of 1 per player.
• During the course of the roleplay, you may privately be given information that the other characters might not have. You are free to explain this information In-Character, but you will be scolded if you just straight up post it in the OOC. See "No Metagaming" above for further emphasis.
• Characters may be aged in whatever fashion you deem appropriate. However, there will be penalties enforced depending on age, regardless of which age you choose. I do ask that you make characters at least with the level of development required to walk and talk, as otherwise we would have quite a troublesome experience integrating your character with the plot.
• If you're going to be gone, tell me. If you're gone for too long, especially if you've left people waiting for you to post, you may be killed horribly, suddenly and gruesomely by me with no notice. I will be lenient with this most of the time, but repeat offenders obviously run a higher risk.
• The GM's word is law. Of course, you're free to dispute the law, just know that I will probably excessive this privilege if you ever start causing trouble.
• You are not a wizard, a ghost, a powerful half-demon ninja assassin or Gilsuke Uchimesh.

Prefers to be called Richard.
Afraid of death, the dark, violence, and loud noises in some cases. Doesn't like heights, enclosed spaces, people, and strangers.

History: (This one is easiest first) Raised in a religious household with abusive parents, Richard didn't have many friends. Realized his sexuality differs form others at an early age, punished by his parents for it. Has a younger sister who has multiple personality disorder. Was frequently at school with bruises and a sad expression, some wondered but never took the problem into their own hands, or cared enough to really see what was going on. Moved out of his house as soon as he could get a job and now has a restraining order on his parents.
Lives in the dorm room at his college but has an apartment for the summer.
On a tight budget as most of his paycheck goes towards his college. Works at a pet store when he isn't at college and is assistant manager.

Persona: Timid, doesn't speak up much. Hides behind his curtain of hair and wears concealing clothes, even in the hot summers. Dresses nicely. (Nice zip jackets over button up shirts, tighter jeans but not skinny jeans.) Silent most of the time, but can talk his worth when actually spoke to. Very organized and neat,
enrolled in a nice college at the moment for his interest in the culinary arts. Has two ferrets, Scooby and Shaggy. Takes walks during the day and eats healthy, finds fast food repulsive. Cooks for himself most of the time. Has anxiety and depression. Effective worker when he wants to work towards something, although usually over works himself.Still has an old flip phone because he doesn't talk to many people.

Skills:
-Very good cook, if he says so himself.
-Has a wide range of knowledge for animals.
-Very organized.
-Taking some side classes in the medical field in college right now (In case of a kitchen accident), and can suture.
-Good writer and illustrator

Likes: Fond of animals, not so much people. Likes cooking, especially healthy food. Reads often and likes to be active, practices yoga when he can't go outside because of the weather.

Dislikes: Loud noises, abuse (animals/people), ignorance and violence.

Why is this being set in communist territory? What if communism is my character's trigger fear?
