Rogrim's Death song
We go on now fathers to never to return
Do not light torches for our return
We go now to our deaths
Singing with hammer and blade
Requiring no aid
We dare not to fade
But we return to old halls
Seeing Rogrim welcoming us home
Deep in the earth our first
Bidding us to return to stone
For us we go to save
Save life by returning to stone
Giving back Rogrim's blood

Torlar lord of the Purple Mountains nephew of the dwarvern king Thormir marched onward to the east even with the death of the king they marched. Despite being filled with grief of his royal kin's death, his company the Sons of Stone of five hundred continued on. Filling grief with hatred and anger to fuel their strength in the long days ahead. Where they march to is to their doom, singing the dwarvern song of death as they marched. Threw lands of both men and elf they marched, both let them pass unhindered. Men paid no heed to their song. The elves despite the wicked hatred between the two races let them pass, knowing the truth behind the grim song from better times between them. It was rallying the races of the world

They marched to the Black Fortress, a strong hold that keep the filth of orcs, goblins and other creatures of the nightmarish void in the vast ash lands. One bastion to give hope to the rest, rallying to the aid of one another to push back the black tides after the Sons of Stone head perished. Giving their life on the dreams of hope that darkness would be pushed back again.

News of the darkness marshaling forth again forced the hands of Kings and lords a like to push aside their petty differences, least for the sake of the realm. All races rushing to build their armies for the onset of war. In their wisdom the elf kings sent men to aid in the defense, in the light of darkness they needed the time. Bands of mercenaries also came, coin wouldn't matter if there had been no where to spend it, growing a conscious in this grim time. Warriors great and small all flock to give the rest hope, to push back the evil tide or delay its coming

Okay this is very basic there will be tons more in the ooc, if this takes off. I hate spilling a big idea to have no one take an interest, so just basics for now. I encourage questions so please ask or feel free to add suggestions. This starts as a defense but there is an underlying plot to this that will take off.

Dwarves and Elves hate each other with such a passion that if any small bands travelling threw the others territories they are 'snuffed' out. But averting any major war for the past 300 years. There are several factors that created this hatred, but the biggest factor was when the widowed Silvan Queen Shyael fell in love with the Dwarf Iron King Targrir. The elves claimed that she was taken against her will but it wasn't the case (Think Rhaegar and Lyana.). When her son Orist came to her supposedly rescue her, seeing her lovers life head in his hand she had killed herself. Other periodic skirmishes had happened but when Orist and Targrir waged war it nearly annihilated both races thus called the War of Annihilation.

Elves are the only one that can wield magic but only a select few are capable of such a task. Reserved for only the highest and noblest of families. But it cannot be used excessively, doing so would first turn them mad and as a side effect would age them vastly. The lifespans of elves range from roughly 2000 to 3000 years. They do not suffer from old age but rather die in their sleep when the reach to the time of their death. The oldest they can appear to be is in roughly there mid to late forties according to the human stand point. They hold no religion except that of the earth. The typical elven army has very limited amount of heavy infantry just the initial line to hold the enemy at bay. Relying on light warriors and archers with their speed and accuracy

Dwarves are what you think they are. Beyond stubborn and greedy to a fault, but loyal to fault. Their beards are the one thing they care about more than their pride. Any who cut off another beards pending on the severity of the crime include exile up to death if it cut short enough. Veteran dwarf warriors decorate their beards with rings of iron, gold and silver pending on their deeds in war. The more they have the more respect the commanded. Life spans of dwarfs range from roughly 250 to 300 years of age. But there has been freak occurrences of regal dwarves they have lived up to 400 years. Their god Rogrim was also the first dwarf or so it is said. Dwarves the die in battle are said to have their bodies sewn in stone to serve him and their blood to feed his essence so he might return. The Sons of Stone are dwarves from all walks of life and is a secret from all. The most honored position any one dwarf can hold, even their kings bow before them because their warriors of a single purpose when the walk to war. Expected never to return

Humans are well that's we are ha ha. In this world though they have more kings than can be counted. Each of them war each other to gain more land and prestige. Bleeding themselves mostly. They're influenced by both dwarf and elven cultures. But when the darkness looms they're usually the first to get stabbed since their the most numerous of the races and have spread wider and further than dwarves or elves. Religion is mixed in a handful of varrieties

They're a heavy unit thick with armor and arms. Best way to describe them is that they're a mix between The Roman Legion, Spartans and the Vikings with a heavy dwarvern touch. The dwarfs have no heavy calvary but make up for in sure brute strength and stalwart defense. The Stone Sons in particular are a very secretive fighting force in their culture. Only certain high standing figures are the only known members. To be a member that particular dwarf has to have a pure lineage back to the original founding fathers. One cannot simply join them they're are sought out and to join the legion is to have their house blessed with both riches and honor after their death or over so many years of service. Members cannot even tell their spouses or family who they are. But they come from all walks of life, they could be miners, soldiers, craftsman anything

Elves and humans are the only ones with calvary. Elves are more a hit and run when it comes to their tactics but are the best in the buisness when it comes to light arms and archery. Humans their trump card is their knights, heavy mounted/dismounted calvary but have a moderate mix between the rest of their forces.

When it comes to the female gender its in the Elven army that they really stand out, have equal rights and have had or have general type figures. The most equal society and far above the dwarf and human nations. Among the human nations ladies either dress and feign their gender or become apart of a ranger group that lives among the woods where they can gain authority. Their are exceptions as I will detail in the OOC this weekend they had been a few warrior queens in their history. Dwarven women according to husbands, brothers and kings alike are more terrifying than a dragon. Which most would rather face a dragon than an angry spouse. Their appearance while being more muscular due to their racial identity look more like any human woman but on a shrunken basis, so no beards ha ha.

I find this confusing. First you describe the stone sons as an elite company of noble dwarves that can trace their lineage back to the big bang. Then you end it by stating that members doesn't even need to be soldiers, but can be miners or craftsmen. Well... which is it?

Well, you can be an elite craftman, you dont have to be a soldier to be elite, and dwarfs don't have to be warriors by trade to be good at fighting, they're dwarfs, bulky build is the standart

Dwarfs are fighters by nature yes but they're picked as younger dwarfs before they start their actual trade and trained before they start their actual trade. Returning to training after so many years to shake of any rust. If their father, grandfather or anyone on a dwarfs mother's side are to have fought and revealed themselves. Unofficially they have some training from that family member since its inevitable that they will be called to service. I will get going on the OOC after I get back from the store.

My point is that craftsmen and miners always have been considered "low-class" occupations (in any culture in the real world at least). Nothing for a noble dwarf that can track their lineage back to the founding fathers. While soldiering is well in the list of typical nobleman's work.

I find it strange that two so very different worlds should be the same. Surely there is an explanation.
