From the Hunter S Thompson reference at the beginning of this review, you know what PoW needs? A Hunter S Thompson of journalists in Precipice, a wayward counter-culture explorer.

I'm heavily considering writing a post, but I feel like I've already gone through all the obvious Brazil plotlines. I need something new... and creative... hmmm.

@Mihndar

Do what I did: Chinese Graffiti.

Or: the loosely connected collection of plot lines involving four Hong Kong teenagers doing teenager things in Hong Kong. Involving but not limited to: underground club and LSD culture, potential local politics, the gambling scenes, and car races.

I was going to write this weekend, but we had a fury-of-god style storm and everybody lost power. Electricity went down here sometime Thursday night/Friday morning and it didn't come back until a few hours ago.

I can report, however, that driving through a city with no power at three in the morning is kinda really cool.

You can get the same feeling driving through a city at like 3AM when there aren't any cars on the road and a lot of lights are off.

Make it all the lights, then turn off the streetlights and stop-lights.

Downtown kept their lights, and there were patches that still had lights, but there were also long stretches where there was no power nowhere nohow.

I remember driving home from that balloon festival in town, about this time a couple years ago. It wasn't dead-of-night dark and there were lights. But I really liked the empty darkness on the streets.

It was also the first time I listened to U2's Running to Stand Still because the Lansing radio station was running a U2 special thing that Saturday since they were performing for the first time in Lansing out at MSU.

I put out my post, kind of half finished because I wanted to finish the exercise and graduate OCS people in time for Istanbul, but that appears to be on hold.

I'll see y'all after 10 August. Basic training's gonna be a blast.

I think while Evan's gone I might put a tactical hold on anything involving Armenia and Turkey/Istanbul. If because I know he wants to do things in it, and I'm not sure how fragile it might be. I know he didn't give a sort of "while I'm gone..." list.

So until he gets free time at the academy to at least loiter over things and give direction - if not having time to write - then I think we should let that region be.

Well, I still got Sahle there, and he needs to move...

...but I won't make any moves that mean anything to Armenia.

No you still got to post.

Most of what I'm asking/expecting is nothing like an invasion of Armenia or Turkey or Istanbul that might fuck something up. Unless we want to have a player pick up Turkey to somehow involve itself in the brewing conflict enough that it could reasonably divert resources from any dream of re-taking Armenia and Istanbul. Like wake up Veo and have some theater involving the Turks and Persians.
