Well, they're more reliable then that since the Church's militant arm uses them as their weapon of choice.

As for still having the Black Keys, I just want to know why the Church let them keep them, now.

@VitaVitaAR

Seriously, well I need to review my Church Lore on the enforcers then. Hmmm, maybe I could make the Family more connected to the church then with the family building and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generation all being enforcer/magus of the church helping generally with bounded fields around their churches. Or just make Jonathan a unseemingly dangerous Executor... <-- I'll just take that option lol

We've actually got a Church operative bio pending right now. ^^;

That being said, deepening the connection to the Church works fine. If they're closely tied enough possessing the Keys should work out fine.

A-Am I mistaken here? I thought members of the Church like, didn't use Magecraft. Out of principle, or something...

@Yuri, @NRVNQSR: Well, the Church... actually uses a lot of the principles of magecraft.

For example, Black Keys are formed purely by passing prana though the hilts to produce the blades. Sacraments are outright a type of magecraft. While no, I don't think they're the biggest fans of it, this fact and the fact they've allied with magi and even consented to the instruction of some of their members in magecraft means they're at least willing to tolerate it if it furthers their goals.

@GummyCat: Yes, you can.

Well that's the magical foundation of the Church/Sacraments. It's independent from the magical systems utilized by mages. Mysteries created without the system of god are heretical to the Church for the most part. Kirei and Ciel are oddballs here I believe.

Hmm, I suppose that's true, but the fact that Kirei and Ciel exist at all(well, Kirei before he gave in to literally being evil) and that they have allied with specific families in the past(such as the Tohsaka during the Fourth Holy Grail War) still indicates they're willing to put that aside in certain circumstances.

Still need to be able to do potentially do magic to use the Black Keys. Bit of an awkward bit, there: hate magic (or at least the association); need it to deal with anything. :P

I'm not saying they can't use magic. They just use the magecraft of the Church. Christianity is its own "branch" of magecraft so to say, and everything else that doesn't use god to create mystery is deemed as heresy.

Hmm, that is true, yes. Still, they've allied with specific families before and specific members do use variants of magecraft(of course, the Church's variants), so I don't think there's anything particularly wrong with what's been done or planned so far.

Confuses the hell out of me. People usually seem to go for Saber or Rider from what I've seen in past Fate RPs. XD

I had an unconventional assassin in the works but switched it for an caster :P If anyone wanted to know what he was, it was going to be Sherlock Holmes but it was too difficult to work him out as a heroic spirit so yeah xD
