@Stir: Year's deliberately unclear, but no more then fifteen years after the conclusion of the Fifth Holy Grail War, and therefore five years after the final dismantling of the Fuyuki Grail in all routes but Heaven's Feel.

@Medjedovic, @GummyCat: So you're paired for sure then?

Also, on a general note, Fio and my Saber need a Servant and a Master respectively. ^^;

@VitaVitaAR
In terms of @Medjedovic and his master finding a Servant with me, I conclude we have a pairing! Although I guess you didn't need me to say it out loud xDDDD

(edit: I agree on the terms if Medj does, and also 1st to get both Master and Servant on the board xD)

Speaking of Masters!

Name: Erasmus Tormod
Age: 55
Gender: Male
Appearance: Hrmph.

Personality: Erasmus is a (formerly) traditionalist mage who's coming to terms with the idea of his own mortality after the death of his wife of thirty years in a car accident. As such, he's decided to make the best of the time he has left, spending as much of it as he can with his grandkids and trying new things. He's gotten a crash course in the modern world, always trying to get more time for his grandkids and hobbies. As he likes to say: "50 is the new 30."

Skills: While Erasmus is in far better shape than he has any right to be at his age, he's still a 55 year old man and tires out quickly. However, he's also a SCA enthusiast, wielding swords and rapiers with ease as part of his regular Renaissance Fair attendance.

Abilities: Erasmus's family has been practicing Rune Magic since the days of the Vikings. He has a large number of mid-level magic circuits, meaning he can cast spells in rapid succession. As such, he knows how to draw the runes from memory and is capable of doing so in the heat of battle. Of course, one of the main issues with using Rune Magic in combat is finding a way around the range problem... which he claims to have done with help from his grandkids.

Brief Backstory: Again, born to a long line of Runic mages dating back to the Vikings, Erasmus was raised in the traditions of magecraft. Eventually, he married, had kids, and then they had grandkids. His wife was killed returning from the airport to drop the children off for summer camp, which lead Erasmus to worry about what would happen to his grandchildren when he was gone. His plan is to use the Grail for something most Mages would find insultingly mundane- to ensure his grandchildren will be secure long after he passes.

Name: Palas Makos
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Appearance:

Personality:
Palas possesses a lax nature that is at once callous and observant. He has a rather loose set of morals if only due to a deficit of cares to give to any higher consideration of others. If given the easiest way out, Palas will gladly take so even if it means throwing those with his trust under the rug so to speak. He is manipulative and not the least abashed by any misconduct or trickery he may enact. Oddly though, Palas has an intuitive perception and fine eye for detail that ranges into meticulosity that greatly aids Palas’s artifices. He does not have the craven traits attributed to deceivers, observing considerable pluck under the greatest of pressures. His confidence can be called brazen, and his speech manners this fact quite well.

Skills:
Subversive Activities
Palas is a master of artifice, being incredibly well versed in matters of histrionics and physical stealth. He can navigate through the most observant of watchmen with unparalleled subversion, noting the subtleties of the human expression that indicates future courses of action on an instinctive level so as to circumvent discovery of his being before it is even fully perceived. This ability to read expression has been honed to a rather remarkable level to the point that Palas has the capacity to perceive actions based only on a vague “sense” of hostility or wariness emanated by others. Of course, those martial artists of the East who are able to suppress their presence in this field are able to negate this perception. Palas proudly wields a silver tongue, and is by no means averse for devious wiles and treacherous elocutions. Whether the deed be stalking, infiltration, or impersonation, as long as it is within the realms of subversion, Palas is able to perform with remarkable ability and cockiness to boot.

Abilities:
God’s Carrier: Hades’s Cap of Concealment
A cap made of a spectral black sash extending more than a dozen feet while being around a foot wide. The cloth can be freely wound up into a cap form and the cap form can be freely unraveled to its cloth form automatically. It is the prototype of all Noble Phantasms that “hide the figure.” Normally kept in the form of a sash, anything covered or enclosed by the cloth cannot be observed through magecraft and optical means. Using optical magic to block all forms of magical detection and any presence of magical emanations from the wearer, it is incredibly effective against those relying solely on magecraft to detect enemies. It does not obscure sound, smell, body temperature, or the wearer's tracks, so its usage is mostly situational. Without such indicators being readily apparent, it is possible to easily walk by enemies while keeping quiet, and it allows for the easy kidnapping of others through Bounded Fields without detection. While in its sash form, it can be held by multiple people at once, and it can wrap itself up automatically to return to its cap form. The cloth of which it is made is of a very complex weave estimated to have "reached five dimensions", and complete reproduction of the cloth is impossible for humans.

General Magecraft:
The standard know how for anyone that calls themselves a magus. Includes fixing broken glass, minor healing, etc.

Spiritual Evocation
Palas, though not an adept by any means, is most experienced in this field. In particular he observes good talent in the ability to form familiars from beings like wraiths or ghosts. In addition, he is capable of operating mystic codes utilizing spiritual evocation, which he possesses in limited number of for minor utility purposes inherent to reconnaissance and maneuverability.

Mystic Eyes of Deciphering:
Mystic eyes inherent to the priests of Plutonium. They allow the user of the eyes to analyze the effects of a weapon or being. Like an advanced form of automated structural analysis, utilizing these eyes allows Palas to immediately discern the basic composition and potential effects of a weapon, spell or object. These eyes are geared towards pointing out danger inherent in the composition of these objects, and are thus most effective in scouting out potentially harming effects towards Palas. However, these eyes are subject to thaumaturgical resistance, and as such will not be able to be utilized to decipher the natural abilities of a decent magus or higher species. These eyes are the ultimate tools for observation, and handily fit into Palas’s role as an observant infiltrator rather than a combatant.

Brief Backstory:
Whenever there is political intrigue afoot in the Association, one can be assured that Palas will be employed. He was never one to be praised for his aptitude in magecraft, and indeed his lackadaisical mindset runs quite contrary to the principles of work set down by any decent lecturer. He has no real potential in combat, and his skillset is completely hopeless in a real confrontation. As such, he has no place even as an Enforcer. However, his lineage which descends from the priests of Plutonium and which has secured the favor of Hades in the form of his mythical cap, nets Palas a niche in the Association. He is neither Enforcer nor active participant in the actual system of the Association. Rather, he is best titled a spy. He is employed to infiltrate the most impenetrable of defenses and eavesdrop on the most secretive of conversations. Palas’s current assignment is to enter the holy grail war now reinstituted in America, where he is to do what he does best.

@clanjos: Accepted.

@NRVNQSR: Okay, the bio isn't all bad but I have two major issues.

Firstly, how exactly would he get a cape out of Gilgamesh's treasury? Unless it was actually physically existent still and somehow usable for him, there's really no way. In Bazett's case, she has a Sorcery Trait that allows her to materialize Fragarach and still needs to go through a rather involved process to actually use it.

Secondly, the Mystic Eyes aren't acceptable in their current state. As written he could instantly understand the identity of a Servant by viewing their Noble Phantasm(s).

Edit: Also uh, I just realized, he can be skilled in subversion but actually having the Servant Skill subversive activities is not what that's for. ^^;

I copy pasted prillya so you may have misunderstood but yeah he has a sorcery trait from having Hades's favor as a descendent of his priests. That's why I said God's Holder, not just Hades cap.

The mystic eyes only gleams effects and composition. How would it perceive name or owner? I sort of understand what your saying though so I'll reword that.

Uh for subversive activities I just slapped that name on. The actual servant skill let's you take out a majority of an army before it notices you, which is not what is happening here. I didn't know masters could have servant skills lol :}

@clanjos Mostly the way your character thinks about his grandkids and their future. My Rider also had similar thoughts, only after his, not his family member's, death.

@NRVNQSR: My mistake about the skill. Masters can't have Servant skills but with how bad some characters I've seen pop up in old Fate RP's on another site have been I was worried for a moment.

Still, the combination of things here is something I have to take issue with.

If he can perceive what any magic does instantly it's very hard to counter him and he could still easily figure out what NP is by what it does, and therefore figure out what the Servant's identity is. He can also very easily counter any defensive magecraft anywhere. This comes from a "fun in RPing" angle, too. Wouldn't it be more fun to write him needing to work really hard for infiltration and using counterspells to penetrate defenses then just coasting through it?

The same kind of goes for the Noble Phantasm, honestly. Also, wouldn't the NP have a really heavy mana cost? And possibly need some weird things to use it? Remember, Bazett has to spend days making the iron balls for Fragarach.

I don't know about your first point regarding the eyes. If I knew Excalibur fired a beam of light I wouldn't know it would be King Arthur's lol. I will remove parts about knowing the processes and stuff of the weapon/object because maybe then I could say he knows where the stuff came from and then have a really good guess.

Also for figuring out stuff, he only uncovers what is a direct and possible threat to him. Also I don't believe there are such things as complex as a counterspell. A 5 prana fireball dies to a 6 prana magic missile. A 10 prana boundary field gets trashed by a 11 prana random mook blast. It's just a fundamental brute forcing over whatever is in front of you.

Of course, the point of the eyes is to know the structure of a defensive field or spell which allows you to know its weaknesses. It doesn't mean a lovely deity in the sky rains down tools for the guy to immediately dismantle any defense he sees just because he knows its weaknesses. He knows stuff, but he won't be able to counter it unless its done by a third rate magus who also has no mind about concealing his stuff. Dismantling something like Kayneth's field will take resources this guy won't ever have. It's a handy more in depth structural analysis(Which any magus can do). I also never intended this character to be the type to brute force through stuff like your implying. He has no combat ability, nor does he directly have the capacity to harm others. He just knows stuff and doesn't try to die.

-Gonna reword the eyes to clarify what I wanted to say-

For the cap, I'm pretty sure it should have a lesser burden than Fragararch. It's an E ranked noble phantasm that's also highly situational. It also is not an activated NP, being something that already has its effects in the materials its made out of considering people with no magical aptitude at all have used it. If it reversed causality and fired laser beams of doom I understand your point, but this cap is like an utility thing that doesn't do a lot, considering that it can't even stealth you completely. Anyways, if you want me to add a mana cost on it, sure. The character has negative power in combat, so its not like mana costs would have ever mattered.

-Thanks to Stir for telling me about the stuff I'm talking about-

Okay, hopefully I'll be getting more done today.

In addition, we're approaching the point where we have enough pairs to start. Naturally I'd like everyone to be paired, but once we have enough pairs I'll be able to start off the RP. One or two more should do it.
