The Red Seelie Eliminate the Impossible / What remains is Truth

Member Seen 2 mos ago

@AbysmalDemonI have a bit of interest in this and certainly could play an aspiring coordinator. However,I have to ask why having played X/Y is needed? Specially when this will be a new region with an original plot. The last game that I played was Leaf Green and from there on I never had the chance to lady my hands on any Pokemon game again.

If it's just because of the Mega Evolution, shouldn't out be the Professor's rule to teach the children about it? And if it's about the new Pokemon, we can always use the wiki as a surrogate pokedex.

Anyway, I'm waiting for your answers. See ya!

Yea Im just gonna point out abysmal, this guy does raise some key questions

I think everyone interested in this would be familiar with Mega Evolution anyway.

I think what he meant was that it's preferred that you've played X and Y, since we're playing all the way up to that gen. ORAS also counts I suppose.

Its mainly because of three things.

1) Yes, mega evolution. I guess your right, that can be taught.

2) Yeah, new pokemon. Your right, you can look on wiki. But really, you wanna look through pokemon, like, five hundred them. Its just better to know them.

3) Moves/Abilities change. There have been many new moves/abilities, and im sure you dont want to look through them.

Ohhhhhh @KoL I see what you're thinking. You don't need to know XY to do the RP. But you need it to Co-GM. You can still play in the RP even though you you don't have XY experiance.

Some moves and abilities don't translate so well into actual RP, and logistics behind moves may not be so fun to follow by the book in RP. So for instance allowing creative use of moves.

And then there's the matter of having moves in general, which in game were designed to be learned progressively to suit the level group. What do we do here? Do we just get to choose 4 out of their entire learnable moveset? Or do we have to choose low levels, and if then how do they learn stronger moves? And then there's limit, we can keep to 4 sure, but there are just so many moves.

I have no clue how Abysmal is gonna handle it but.

Yea some moves and abilities really do not translate well into roleplaying (and some are broken...), but I guess the idea is that when you first get a Pokemon, its weak, usually its body isn't exactly battle trained (It only usually fights as a way to survive), and such it can't handle the power of stronger moves, as such it just can't use them properly (it can use them just not well enough to be battle worthy, If you catch my drift), as such It essentially needs practice or Experience, to be able to us the moves in a way that would be effective in battle.

but that's just my take on the whole idea

Can you give me an example of a move that wouldn't translate well?

There is going to be a device that you register your Pokemon in(we still need a name XD) and it gives you updates on your Pokemon. Ex: levels, moveset.

Move, that doesn't translate well, hm lemme think Dragon Ascent... I can also name a Broken Abilty considering the way of using it Gale Wing's

Also, Abysmal. I know your the GM and this is your Idea and region, but its a roleplay, you don't really have level's, think more of the anime, where even a well trained first evolution could defeat a Final evolution.

Just saying

I just wanted them to have a general idea of it, not necessarily levels, but it could be.
