Name: Nala Biting-Lance Rand
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Faction: Outsider Mage

Personality: Mellow and calm in her daily life, Nala is rarely the first to speak. When she does speak, the words have been predetermined, and the structure is both brief and pointed. Before she acts, she observes with a cautious eye. Her behavior is bound beneath a set of conduct laws. They are courage (which is to behave without fear of man), wisdom (which is to understand what action best fits a scenario), and kindness (which is to act with the intention of bettering one’s fellow man). While the virtues she seeks are far beyond her, since Nala is impatient and has a thirst for discovery, Nala holds herself accountable to them.

Bio: Parents were nobility, but they left their station to become outsiders due to Nala being born a mage. While the father, a luminosity knight, chained to his daughter the collar, it was used primarily as a tool to make her use her magic for good. Much of her childhood was spent with only her father, mother, and younger brother hunting along the outside lands until at last they found the Outsider’s city. Her brother joined a gang, the CharHornets, and Nala was only spared the temptation by her father, who restricted his mage daughter with a heavy hand. It was only because she rarely left the home, and only healed for the CharHornet boss that Nala did not see the horrors her brother did. She saw the haunting in his eyes instead, and the tightening of his inner being, now closed to her by a hardened shell. Her father saw fit to train her body in order to discipline her mind and magic, and so she learned the way of the lance in a small room, and how to carry herself and armor in a way befitting a Luminosity knight.
Her father has recently died of sickness, and her mother married another man. Nala remains a servant of the CharHornet leader, and is still used to heal his gang members. Now, however, the gang wants her assistance in torturing his enemies.

Stats:
STR: 6
AGI: 8
PER: 7
INT: 9
WIS: 6
CHA: 4

Spells: Healing (of minor wounds. It would take her a day of constant rest and spellcasting to heal a broken arm, for instance), Heal Poison (purges poison from the body -- the catch is that she must be able to recognize the poisonous substance, or have a purified version of it on hand), Restore Strength (she restores strength to the person’s limbs and removes aches and pains. The spell simulates a well-rested body, but the spell only prolongs the effects of still-building fatigue)
Skills/Techniques: Wrestling, Spear fighting, Armor and Weapon upkeep
Combat strategy: She likes to go right for the neck or the heart. She would not be comfortable with incorporating magic into her fighting style.
Equipment: Thin-tipped spear, iron pauldrons and gauntlets, chainmail, chestplate and greaves, which have been modified from her father’s armor to fit her. She also carries a hand-and-a-half sword that her father did not teach her to use, and a round buckler shield.

Name: Fredric Dirk Ferdinand

Gender: Male

Race: Human

Faction: Luminous Knights (MIA)

Personality: Fredric was always and idealistic and charismatic man. Recent events however has forced him to temper that idealism with brutal realism. Though he has almost limitless strength of spirit, his body can only push him so far. Fredric devotes a majority of his of his down time in study, meditation, or training. Still, he will not refuse conversation and is often the unofficial leader of his group.

Bio:Fredric D. Ferdinand was born into a family of low ranking Luminous Knights. The lack of status did have its benefits. He had a loving family, good friends, and a great childhood. He not only joined the LKs because he was from a military family, but because he wanted to do real and lasting good for the people of Altea. The happiest day of his life was the day of his Initiation Ritual, for he finally had the power to do good. With the help of his new squad mates and the LK, the world will finally be rid of the evil outsider rouge mages. After a few successful brigand apprehensions, and a raid repelled here and there , Fredric and his close friends/battle brothers were assigned to deal with a small time mob boss of a offshoot of the CharHornets. Usually the LK wouldn't concern themselves with the affairs of Outsider cities but the mob's influence was starting to make its way into lands under LK protection. This mission ended up going horribly wrong.

Name: Ardrian Nesus
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Faction: Killirie's Claws (Former), Outsider Mage

Personality: Ardrian was ever the jester of life, mocking it all but for the few previous things he held dear. A Mage by fate and a thief by trade, Ardrian's sense of humor and optimism border the extreme, yet in his heart seared long ago the still aching lessons of brutal reality, of tragedies that, while make him no less genial, still weigh his soul down somewhat with the burden of its memories.

But what others see in him was only a thief, and a bothersome one at that, always taunting, mocking, jesting, and of course, stealing. His way of coping with his past, some who knew him might say, but fortunately, or unfortunately for them, it was not so. Ardrian was exactly what he wanted himself to be, not a thing forged by passed faults, and being a fraudulent thief is oh so very fun.

Bio: Ardrian got the short end of the stick ("As did my mother. Literally." He often joked and laughed) of being born a mage. All the expectation, envy and detestation of being one, but his talent was close to nonexistent. At least he was not born collared, yet that fact alone made his childhood, shunned by the mage community in his part of the Undercity and steered clear by the rest, no less lonely. His parents died in a gang war when he was five, leaving him in the care of their closest friend, Gilian, who, while at least pretended to be friendly, was distant. So what else could he do but befriend the only one left who would tolerate his existence. Himself. It worked out just fine, though some would say he went insane (some people really did not find his jesting amusing).

Ardrian joined his parents' gang, Killirie's Claws when he was 11 (Gilian happily wiped his hands and responsibilities clean). He was a street thief, a beggar, a trickster, a scout, and for a while even an animal exterminator. Later promoted to thug for hire, but his nonstopping mouth and his tendency to annoy instead of terrify earned him 2 years as a bookkeeper for the gang (He was one of the few who were bright enough, and those the gang found better use for). At 17 he was a strong young man, agile and full of life with little to no moral qualm of getting his hands dirty on anything required of him. Everything was a game for Ardrian then, a challenge that laughed him in the face that needed to be taught a lesson.

An assassin was not exactly what Ardrian had in mind of an interesting occupation. He did not particularly like shedding blood, or the look he was given before the flash of steel that ended a life. He coped fine for a time, but for one day when he realized how his being a mage was no longer...true. To others, at least. Now when they looked at him, they see a killer, a survivor, a rogue. Not a mage. Never a mage.

This was good, Ardrian reflected. Was it? Magic had been his entire being, his identity defined by it, molded by it, and then it was...nothing. What had this revelation altered in his life? Absolutely nothing. But when he compared his identities, an assassin was no less distasteful than a mage. He missed the time when he was only a thief, when every mischief had been fun, every coin a triumph. Killing was messy, and in him some small remnant of a never-truely-formed conscience persisted still.

So Ardrian left. He simple left. No one leave the gang but in small bloody parts in an wooden box, but who could, who dared restraint his infallible spirit and optimism? (and a few properly placed threats with knife).

Young, sly and full of vigor before a new unexplored world of challenges, his childhood self revived and his heart unburdened, who can say what Ardrian Nesus, ex-mage, , orphan, gang member and assassin is going to achieve? Start a few wars, perhaps. Explore the unending storms of Altea where no man had tread before, maybe. And certainly, lots and lots of stealing.

Stats:
STR: 6
AGI: 8
PER: 10
INT: 6
WIS: 6
CHA: 4

Spells:
  • Flash: Ardrian summons a ball of light in the palm of his hand which he can crush to produce a devastatingly bright flash and blind everyone around him including himself. (He usually covered his face somewhat and so recover faster that others who were caught unaware)
  • Food sense: Ardrian can sense food. If he's in the middle of nowhere he would know which direction to go to aquire food, especially if it's fruit or vegetable. Omnomnomnom.
  • Imprint: Ardrian can touch something and leave an imprint on it, which he is able to follow and sense as long as he wants up until he mentally server the connection.

Skills/Techniques:
  • Thief stuff: Stealth, lock-picking, etc.
  • Assassin skills: Long knife for close quarter combat, throwing knife, short bow and crossbow for assassination.
  • Hand to hand combat, street brawling, quarterstaff

Combat strategy: Ardrian is a mage, yet the abilities he had developed so far are rather useless in actual combat. He would rather put an arrow to the back of an opponent's back or a knife in the neck rather than risk direct confrontation. A fight with him usually ends fast and ugly, depending on one's knife speed rather than skills. If forced into a fair fight, Ardrian would fight to retreat, not to win. If he does retreat, that promise an ugly death in the dark for the opponent soon after.
Equipment: Long knife, throwing knives, quarterstaff/walking stick, short bow + arrows. Lockpicking equipments.

Name: Alicia von Eternus
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Faction: Luminous Knights

Personality: Emotionless and distant - that's how everyone would describe the wonder child. Her upbringing left Alicia with little to no social skills, or people to use them on. For better or worse, she is completely straightforward. She will always speak her mind, no matter how brutal her honesty will be. The very few friends she found during the years as an initiate all attest that she has a warmer, undiscovered side.

Bio: Daughter and heiress to the richest and most influential man in Altea, the "Wonder Child" joined Luminous Knights as an initiate at the minimum allowed age - 16. At that point her whole training and subsequent service was more or less a formality. But it wasn't because she received any special treatment or anything - she already was a better warrior than most of the trainers tasked to instruct her. For Alicia, the grueling exercises were barely warm-up, and combat training would end up with the instructor on the ground. The longest an instructor stood on his feet was three seconds. Hence the nickname of "Wonder Child".

The few friends she found during that time learned the horrifying reason why. Her training started as soon as she could walk - at the age of three. Alicia's father hired an instructor to teach her an exotic martial art, and to hone her into a perfect weapon. Both parts succeeded. Except there was nothing left of a girl named Alicia.

Stats:
STR: 8
AGI: 10
PER: 10
INT: 4
WIS: 5
CHA: 3

Spells:

  • Sword of Judgement- Conjures a projectile in shape of a sword, floating above her and following Alicia at all times. Up to four can be maintained at any given time, and they can be launched at any target anytime Alicia wills it. Swords of Judgement are used in all other spells.
  • Revealing Light- Detonates a Sword of Judgement to disperse it's energy in a wide area. While this has little to no power to hurt mages, it will greatly interfere with non-mental illusions and invisibility, as well as other wide area of effect spells.
  • Entrapment- Commands the swords to circle around the specified target instead of following Alicia, effectively trapping them unless they can somehow slip out of the circle of swords following them.

Skills/Techniques:

  • Etra-Shi - The exotic and nearly forgotten martial art, supposedly of elven origin. This fighting style consists of using two long swords of differing lengths and weights in sweeping, spinning motions. Etra-Shi puts massive emphasis on enemy prediction and split-second planning. When properly executed, it looks like a mesmerizing dance of blood and flying limbs, where each attack misses the user completely as she cuts through the opposition.
  • Battle Trance - The key to Etra-Shi, Battle Trance is a form of meditation. The user purges her mind of all emotion and thought, leaving the mind solely focused at the combat at hand. For the user, it's like the world became slower, allowing her to move with inhuman precision. However, this technique is extremely taxing on both mind and body, and when it ends, the user will be out of the fight. Alicia can stay in Battle Trance for a minute. Then she requires at least a day of rest before using it again. [While Battle Trance is active, Alicia's PER and AGI is doubled.]
  • Battle Tactics - Alicia is well taught in command and flow of battle, making her a capable, yet inexperienced leader.

Combat strategy: The first thing Alicia will do is to gauge the enemies. Note the weapons her enemies use, their positions, their stance. From there she forms a basic plan. Conjuring up 4 Swords of Judgement, she will charge into combat with Battle Trance, and for all intents and purposes she'll be an one woman army, at least for a minute.
Equipment:

  • Izanagi & Izanami - The twin swords Alicia wields, bearing the hallmarks of Whedius - Master Dwarven Smith. Outclassing even most paladin arsenal in their quality, these swords are worth a literal fortune.
  • Valkyrie's Armor - The lightweight and extremely sturdy armor which, while not as tough as plate armor, allows Alicia complete freedom of movement. Bears the hallmarks of Whedius.
  • Bloodline Seal - Alicia has a red, massive, weird tattoo on her stomach. As far as she knows, every member of her family has one, as it is tradition. Those who seen it claim it creeps them out.

Name: Lucia Stein

Gender: Female

Race: Elf

Faction: Luminous Knight, Overseer

Personality:
"Life gives you lemonades, you go ahead and sell 'em at a profit."

Lucia Stein is many things. She is aloof, careless, reckless, smart, mischievous, cunning, lackadaisical, lazy, hardworking, infuriating...Lucy spins on a dime with her behaviour, but it is exceedingly apparent that she does it all for one thing: her own enjoyment. After all, why live a life where you can’t even have fun? What life is there to lead if everything just feels like a pain to trudge through? Her assessment of her choices are often based on one question: "Will it be fun?".

Lucy shows exceedingly high amounts of interest in all kinds of magic, despite her status as a Luminous Knight, and has often lost herself in perusing books of magicks, as forbidden as they are in the ranks of the Knights. She has gotten into trouble more than once for hiding these materials in her bathroom, living quarters, and office, but has been let off with nothing more than a stern warning. Similarly, she doesn’t instinctively possess any sort of prejudice towards mages, and is more than willing to sit around and query them about their magicks. Her black and red garb often allows her to appear as an unsuspecting noble who just seems to like the fantasy of magick, and not a Knight of magick-banishing light.

Lucy exhibits traits of a social gadfly, and often addresses the elephant in the room in the most bluntest way possible. She is clearly learned in tact, for she is able to present herself well enough in official meetings, but she drops all pretense of that once she feels like she should take the status quo by its hands and give it a whirl. There’s no two ways about it: she knows she will cause an uproar if she points out a certain matter at hand, but she does it anyway. She takes great joy in doing this, obviously.

Oddly enough, she enjoys her work of pencil-pushing, and occasional ground work, and doesn’t seem to have much on hand to bother anyone about. HR has, however, received complaints from her that, quote, unquote, “There aren’t enough pretty guys in office. Please rectify this.”, “Not enough cake is available during lunch. Please rectify this. PS, pie is also fine.”, and so on and so forth, much to the chagrin and amusement of the staff at hand. None of these problems have been fixed so far. To be completely fair, who would pay any heed to these complaints in the first place?

Biography:

They used to say that romance is dead. That’s funny, because it was clear that, when Lucius Stein met Illya for the first time, and fell heads over heels for the elf, romance was still well and alive. However, that would be another story for some other time. This tale belongs to their daughter, Lucia Stein, a tiny creature adopted into the family of these two lovebirds.

Lucia was practically born in to the career of a Luminous Knight. Her fascination with the art of Luminosity already surpassed those older than her at an age of 7, and it only escalated from there onwards. Training under her father with the specially crafted sword of the Stein family, she only entered as an initiate at 17, mainly because she was conflicted over the whole necessity of rigorous training despite her skill with her sword, and the removal of her soft, soft bed, replaced by the hard ones present in the barracks. It took an entire year for Lucius to convince his daughter that it wasn’t that bad as she made it out to be. He was lying, of course, as Lucia found out afterwards.

Lucia was never the examplary trainee, almost always wandering off during her training sessions to read more books in the library. Of course, her height and her elf ears were the few things that made her life pretty, honestly speaking, shite in the barracks. While she floored the other trainees easily, by ramming the pommel of her sword before they could even see her move, she preferred instead, the road of passiveness. Bullies were quick to learn that, however, broken noses were bad for their complexion, so they steered away. She disobeyed trainers on a regular basis, and once took a Paladin on a wild goose chase around the entire training field, skipping and ducking out of the way of his attempts to hold her down. That having been said, however, she was already quite skilled at her age and her standing. Yes, there were complaints that she was an anarchist in the making, but her results were always outstanding, to say the least, and it left no quarter for her dissenters to complain about her.

She became a Knight soon after, and had her fair share of combat with the mages. It was during one of these skirmishes that she learned of fascinating extravagance that is magick. The colours, the flexibility, the variety of forms that is magick, it was all so enthralling. Had she been raised with the exposure of magick, surely, she would have gone down that path instead of this one. So enraptured was she by the wondrous excitement that was magick that she began to shy away from direct combat with mages, choosing instead to study their kind.

She was recently promoted to work as an Overseer. She isn’t exactly too high up within the ivory tower, playing the role of a pencil-pusher and surveyor. She is quite content with her job, though, as mentioned, HR gets quite a lot of rubbish from her.

Stats:
STR: 5
AGI: 9
PER: 8
INT: 8
WIS: 9
CHA: 1 (???!!!)

Spells:
●Diminish: Lucy creates a radiant field of Luminosity around herself. All magicks within two metres' length are weakened when she brings up this spell, causing disruption in some way or another. The effects may vary depending on what magicks are in the vicinity. Illusions flicker and appear unsaturated in colour, healing spells work at half the speed they usually do, offensive spells lose part of their potency and projectiles lose both their potency and slow down within the area. It is a dual-edged blade, however: Lucy's magic, as well as her comrades', are also affected by this field.

●Extinguish: Lucy fires a projectile of Luminosity from her hand. If the projectile strikes a magical construct of any kind, it causes a weakening effect on them not unlike her Diminish spell, or outright blows it apart with the power of Luminosity. Its effects depend on the magical strength of its target. A creature created from high concentration of magicks will be less weakened by the attack than a weaker one. Should the projectile strike a magick-less being or object, it acts more as a non-lethal blow. It has been said to feel like a strong punch thrown their way.

●Witchbane: Lucy's signature spell. Lucy coats the blade of her sword with the radiance that is Luminosity, causing it to burn with the blazing light and fire that rivals the sun. Each slash that connects with a physical body leaves a scar of light that burns painfully momentarily, before fading away gradually, charring the skin around the wound occasionally. The residual burn seals off magicks as well- a cut upon a mage's arm causes them to have difficulty in using said arm to wield their magic. Along with its sealing burn, her sword is able to cleave through magicks, dispelling them with just a mere swing of her sword.

Skills/Techniques:
●Issatsu
A technique commonly used by Luminous Knights of the Stein family. It has since lost its relevancy after the dissension of most of the Stein family from the Luminous Knights, and the preference of much more formidable blades available. It focuses highly on extremely fast aimed slashes from various stances, including when the blade is still sheathed. Users of this technique are expected to have deft hands that would make a street magician or a famed pickpocket envious. Issatsu’s training does not extend only to cutting things down before they notice it, but also to angle their blades in certain ways to avoid the target as well. While this seems like a practice that would only wow crowds, it has its uses.

●Tactics? What tactics?
While sitting around and waiting it out to study the opponent’s moves is a perfectly acceptable action, Lucy prefers the alternative: give them no quarter to use any of their moves. Lucy adapts easily as to what the situation demands of her, changing and switching her tactics on the fly, rather than sticking to just one trick all the time. It’ll wear out eventually, and patterns will become discernible.

●Annoying
When she wants to be, she can be a pest of extraordinary proportions. Why is this a talent? Surely she won’t rely on this on combat, yes? Who in the right mind would continuously goad combatants that require concentration and a cool head to distract them? Really, what a silly talent to have!

●Well-Read
She seems quite well-learned in various magicks. She might not be able to wield them, but can identify them at a moment’s glance, allowing her to differentiate between healing spells and offensive spells. This is, of course, very important for PR. No one likes a person who shoots a medic by accident.

●Economics
Lucy dabbles in economics in her free time, and seems to be raking in quite the amount of monetary income from playing with houses and residences alone. She has an arguably intimate knowledge of how economics work, and is quite skilled in ensuring her investments are profitable to her family and herself.

Combat strategy:
Lucy’s modus operandi is high pressure game. She attacks relentlessly, all the while shutting down magickal ability with Diminish. By continuously engaging the enemy, even the smallest of cuts can seal their magick as well through the use of Witchbane. The aggressive attacks of Issatsu, nearly too quick to be discerned by human eye, makes sure that exclusively magic users are completely overwhelmed. That is not to say, however, that she can’t change it up when facing other opponents of other disciplines. She is willing to do anything in a fight, from taunting, to throwing sand in the eyes of her opponent, kicking them when they’re down, goading them into attacking her first, lull them into overconfidence by acting the weaker one, annoy them by refusing to draw her sword, and so on and so forth.

She prefers, however, to not fight at all, if possible. That’s bad for PR. No one likes it.

Equipment:
Lucy wields a strange, single edged sword with crimson and gold hilt and sheath. It boasts peerless cutting ability, and clumsy stabbing ability, almost as if it were made exclusively for slashing. Its steel is of a tempered variant that allows it to channel Luminosity with relative ease as compared to regular weapons. She treasures this sword, both as a weapon and a precious item.

Her armor is simple enough. She wears light chainmail underneath her rather extravagant attire, as well as pitch black steel greaves.
