Alexander had been listening to the smalltalk between everyone around him, and Moros' ridiculous-sounding challenge came up. He turned to face him, with what seemed to be Moros challenging both Cecile and Adrian to a Duel. Alexander raised an eyebrow slightly, rather curious to see how this would play out.
Megumi stood up and exclaimed, "Woah there! If anyone's gonna challenge the she-devil, it's gonna be me!" She raised her arm and let the blade of the Duel Disk form. Megumi then continued, "I'm not letting her words go without a fight. You can have Adrian, though. He's all yours."
Both of the Allaire's had glanced at each other then back to Moros smirking at his idiotic challenge. Then he even decided to bet a couple of cards, both of which were cards Cécile had wanted, but hadn't bothered to obtain merely because they normally hunted rarer cards and didn't really buy all that many. If one had actually goen out of their way to try and learn about the siblings and how they started out then they would learn about how their decks were nothing like today, and how they have only dueled for cards. It's better to earn what you have, not to just buy everything. That's what they were taught, and this was the code they followed.
Luckily for Adrien Moros had made this absurd challenge. It had saved him from dealing with yet another newcomer to the conversation who had the audacity to question what he did with his cards! Clearly someone who hadn't truly earned a whole lot in his life. Adrien was then about to respond to Moros when Megumi interrupted him from starting this time. If the little girl didn't watch it, Adrien was about to step in and destroy her without mercy. So he had the choice of teaching the girl who was near the bottom of the barrel, or Moros, someone who clearly lacked any knowledge of Cécile or Adrien based on the fact he was stupid enough to challenge them two to one.
Cécile however saved her brother from this difficult decision. "Megumi, someone should really teach you some simple manners. For one, always be more polite to those who are better than you..." Cécile's gaze had shifted back to Megumi as she smirked. "We can take ours outside, it's a beautiful morning, and Alexander can tag along too, he'll only be witnessing you lose to me again, but maybe he can save you from crashing and burning too terribly after I humiliate you. Besides, you'll be a good lab rat since I modified my deck since we last dueled." With this Cécile brushed some hair off her face as she turned and began walking towards the exit.
Adrien had watched his sister make up his mind for her and had then looked back at Moros. "In that case I'll take you on alone, besides. You're not truly worthy of dueling my sister just yet...Plus those cards will make an excellent gift for her when I crush you, though I'd hat to be rude and not offer anything for you to hope for, so I'll bet...Hmmmm, how about these." Adrien pulled out three cards. A Vampire Lady, Vampire Lord, and Vampire Genesis. "I won them a few years ago by betting what was at the time my only red eyes and my ace card, I suppose they'll do for the purposes of today, oh and we should take the actual dueling area, that way anyone can watch me wipe the floor with you, and they can have good seats too."
Akira clenched his fist at the offer being made before looking to the two and following them to the arena deciding he would stand "ring side" so to speak rather than be in the stands. Looking up to the two of them Akira eyed Moros before shouting up at him. "You had better beat this clown Moros!" he said looking down and crossing his arms before looking back up at the two. "Because if you don't then I will." he said shooting a glare to Adrien.
Cécile had walked out to the nice open outdoors, this was partially just so anyone could watch, and she just liked being outside. It was time she put Megumi in her place though. The girl always seemed to think she had a chance, and she really had none! For one, she couldn't beat the 'Trident Dragion', nor did Cécile even need it against Megumi.
As the young Megumi approached though, Cécile held her hand across her chest as though she were going to hold her shoulder, but didn't actually touch her own body as the Duel Disk activated and prepared itself. "Are you ready to lose yet again, little Megumi?" Cécile taunted as she waited for the spunky girl to prepare herself.
"Hmph, you'll be taking back those words!" Megumi said, raising her already readied Duel Disk. Cécile may have changed her deck, but so did Megumi, and Megumi was itching to use it to beat her.
Alexander had followed the two girls, not trusting Megumi on her own in this Duel. Plus, it would serve as a test to see how well Megumi's new deck would do in Duels.
"Now I would let a lady go first, but you're clearly not a lady with that kind of behavior, so I'll go first!" Cécile teased as she drew her hand.
"Hey!" Megumi said indignantly.
Cécile then giggled and set two face downs. "I'll place these two cards face down, and then I'll summon this little guy in face down defense mode!" She said as she set her monster smirking the entire time. "Your go!"
"Draw!" Megumi said, drawing her first card and adding it to her hand. Her hand wasn't much at the moment, but it would do for now. "I play the Spell cards: 'Shard of Greed' and 'Card Trader'!" Megumi declared, the two Spell cards appearing on the field, a shard of green pottery and a black-robed figure shuffling a deck. "Now I play 'Fiend's Sanctuary', Summoning a 'Metal Fiend' token onto my field!" Megumi continued, an odd metallic thing appearing on the field.
"I Tribute my 'Metal Fiend' to Summon the first step in my deck," Megumi said. "Appear, 'Jinzo'!" A humanoid creature appeared, covered in green and yellow armor. "Now you can't use any Trap cards!" Megumi said triumphantly. "Go, 'Jinzo'! Destroy that facedown monster!" 'Jinzo' complied, firing two laser beams from its eyes at the facedown monster.
Cécile smirked as a scrawny 'Dread Dragon' appeared briefly. "You destroyed my 'Dread Dragon', and when he's sent to the Grave by battle, I get to add one Level three or lower Dragon monster to my hand! And I'll choose my 'Black Metal Dragon'!" She said as the card slipped out of her deck for her to grab.
Megumi wasn't familiar with the card Cécile just added to her hand, but it wasn't that important right now. "Turn End," Megumi said.
Cécile drew her next card and then grabbed a different card in her hand. "Now then, I hope you're ready, little Megumi! I summon 'The Black Stone of Legend', in Attack mode!" The petty looking black stone appeared on the field in its less than intimidating form. "Now I'll activate its effect. By Tributing it, I can search my deck and Summon any 'Red-Eyes' card in my Deck, and I'll choose the 'Red-Eyes Black Dragon'!"
The Black Stone of Legend shattered into a burst of light which faded to reveal the 'Red-Eyes Back Dragon' staring down Megumi and roaring at her.
Red-Eyes Black Dragon: ATK 2400
Megumi could never forget the 'Red-Eyes Black Dragon'. Megumi smiled and said, "Our monsters have the same ATK, so you can't attack without destroying your own monster too!"
Cécile grinned darkly at Megumi. "You truly are second rate, though that still might be giving you too much credit. Now I'll activate the effect of my 'Black Metal Dragon'! I can equip it to any of my 'Red-Eyes' monsters, and obviously I'll be choosing my 'Black Dragon'! Oh, and did I forget to mention it gains six hundred ATK?" Cécile giggled enjoying herself as her dragon's ATK went up with the appearance of the Black Metal Dragon.
"Wait, what!?" Megumi exclaimed in dismay.
Red-Eyes Black Dragon: ATK 2400 --> ATK 3000
"Now 'Red-Eyes Black Dragon', Inferno Blast!" Cécile shouted pointing at Jinzo as her grin never wavered.
Megumi shielded herself with her arms as the fiery blast struck her 'Jinzo', shattering it into a million pieces.
Megumi: LP 4000 --> LP 3400
After the attack ended, Megumi was hit with a feeling of frustration. Her 'Jinzo' was destroyed so easily. Then again, she was dealing with Cécile, who wasn't exactly a pushover.
"Now that your 'Jinzo' is gone that activates my Trap card: 'Phoenix Wing Wind Blast'. With this, I discard one card from my hand, and then I choose one of your cards on the field to go back to the top of your deck, and I'll choose the oh so lovely 'Shard of Greed'!" Cécile said as she pointed at the green shard of pottery that Megumi had.
Megumi frowned even more as the Spell card was removed from the field and placed back onto the top of her deck. Fortunately, she still had 'Card Trader', so she could still recover from this predicament.
"But just wait! Since you ordered now! I can also activate this Trap card! Red-Eyes Spirit!" Cécile's second trap card revealed. "With this I can Special Summon the beautiful 'Red-Eyes Black Dragon' I just discarded! So welcome my second 'Red-Eyes'!"
Megumi could only watch in dismay as a second 'Red-Eyes' appeared on the field, just as threatening as the first one.
"Now my beautiful 'Red-Eyes'! Give Megumi a taste of your Inferno Blast personally!"
Megumi felt the impact of the attack as it struck, kncoking her down and dealing a huge dish of damage to her Life Points.
Megumi: LP 3400 --> LP 1000
"You could always give up now Megumi! Save yourself the humiliation of losing to me terribly once more..." Cécile taunted. "If you don't, I'll have to continue this turn and make you regret this duel entirely..."
Megumi grunted as she got back up. "That was a cheap shot! You won't get to do that again next turn!" Megumi said.
Cécile's dark grin grew just a bit more. "In that case I'll overlay my two dragons! I'll crush you with the joint card that my brother and I use, the 'Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon'! But once more that won't be all! When my 'Black Metal Dragon' is sent from the field to the Graveyard I get to add one 'Red-Eyes' card from my deck to my hand, and I'll choose...My third 'Red-Eyes Black Dragon'..." The final Red-Eyes had been a new addition. The last time she had faced Megumi, Cécile only had two Red-Eyes.
"Now come forth, 'Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon'!" Cécile had raised her hand up high dramatically as the spiraled galaxy appeared and her two 'Red-Eyes' changed into yellow orbs of light to be sucked into the galaxy, only to return as a huge metal covered dragon, which upon landing stared down Megumi, roaring with such a capacity it shook the surrounding area.
Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon: ATK 2800
"And don't worry Megumi, he also has some fun abilities, but I'll let you find them out on your own, your move." Cécile's grin was unending as she waited for the girl to make her move.
Joshua looked down as he saw two girl walk towards the tree he was in. One was a girl with long brown hair and a pair of glasses and the other mid-length black hair and an outfit that revealed a little too much for a girl her age if you asked him. Still, he was going to annoy them until they began dueling. He sat up and watched as they went at it.
The black-haired girl went first. She was smart, keeping her hand hidden by imply setting things. When the brown haired girl went, she looked a bit too eager and she immediately activated three spells cards before she summoned a Jinzo. A powerful monster no doubt, but better for later in the game if he where to give his opinion. Plus, Fiend's Sactuary was good for stalling even though that stall came at a cost.
He could only muse when the brunette immediately began losing due to her opponent skillfully chaining a series of traps. However, her deck was fairly obvious at this point. Simple Red-Eyes beat down. Brute force and burning with little flair. Very simple and effective so he was surprised when the other girl quickly lost three quarters of her lifepoints. Then came the Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon. The Brunnette was screwed. If she played two spells and/or traps, two monster effects, or one spell/trap and one monster effect, she lost by default because of the Dragon's first effect. Then the second would seal her fate. Her best bet was to get rid of it quickly and hope nothing else came out to replace it.
"Draw!" Megumi said, drawing her next card. Things were not looking very well at all. Megumi was in a desperate pinch, and it would take a miracle to save her from it. She looked at her hand, wondering what she could use. "I use the effect of my 'Card Trader'! I can shuffle one card in hand back into my Deck, then draw 1 card!" Megumi declared, performing the action she just described.
"Ha! that's perfectly fine! Your Trap activates my monster's effect! When you activate a card, or use an effect you lose five hundred of your Life Points! Go, 'Flare Metal Dragon'!"
Megumi had not been expecting that at all, and took a blast of 500 points of damage. She would have to be more careful, considering how low she already was.
"Don't worry little Megumi! Just one more mistake and you'll lose!" Cécile began to laugh a bit darkly at Megumi's predicament.
Megumi looked at her hand, looking for a way to at least survive the next turn. Fortunately, she probably had one, especially with that new draw. "I Set one monster, then banish a Spell card from my Graveyard to Special Summon my 'Spell Striker'!" Megumi said, a facedown card and a small viking-like creature appeared on the field.
Spell Striker: ATK 600
"'Spell Striker' can attack directly! Go, strike the she-devil down!" Megumi commanded, and 'Spell Striker' obeyed, dashing past the metallic dragon to hit Cécile with his stick.
Cécile frowned as she was whacked, putting up an arm to defend herself. "If that's all you got then this Duel ends next turn...It's a pity Alexander invests as much time in you as he does, because clearly there are no results!"
Megumi was instantly riled up. "How dare you! I'll have you know-" Megumi was then interrupted by Alexander from the sidelines, "Megumi, concentrate on the Duel. You won't win if you keep getting affected by her taunts." Megumi wanted to say something more, but she knew Alexander was right, and merely said, "Turn End."
"Now then I'll draw, and then let's see what fun way's I can torture you!" Cécile giggled slightly. "First off we'll just have a little fun here and take one overlay off of my 'Flare Metal Dragon' to summon the 'Red-Eyes Black Dragon' that just hit the grave from removing the overlay." The 'Red-Eyes Black Dragon' once more appeared on the field. "Now then, my 'Black Dragon', give her 'Spell Stryker' a taste of your Inferno Blast!"
Megumi braced herself for the attack as it struck the miniature warrior and destroyed it. After the attack ended, Megumi said, "Because of 'Spell Stryker's' effect, I take zero Battle Damage!" With that, she smiled, knowing she got through one attack.
"Now 'Flare Metal Dragon' destroy her last monster!"
Megumi braced heerself for the second attack, having been expecting it, and was waiting for that moment. Megumi's smile did not waver as she explained, "Now I activate the effect of the monster you destroyed: 'Nimble Momonga'! I'll take 500 damage from 'Flare Metal Dragon', but I'll also gain 1000 Life Points, and Special Summon two more 'Nimble Momongas' from my Deck in facedown Defense mode!"
After the facedown card was destroyed, two more took their place, and Megumi's Life Points rose by 500.
I hope you're not planning on hiding behind too many things, I'd have to cry for the lost time..." Cécile placed a card facedown on the field and shook her head ending her turn.
Megumi hesitated a bit before drawing her next card. This would be her last turn if she didn't draw a good card.
Once more Cécile laughed at Megumi. "I hope that nexxt card saves you, or else you only lose again, really Megumi, can you at least try and give me a challenge?"
"Draw!" Megumi said, drawing her next card. When she looked at it, her eyes widened slightly. Her ace monster had shown up. Problem was, she didn't have the means to Summon it, and she still needed to face those two dragons. No, wait... Megumi looked at her other card. If everything went according to plan, it would be a great turnaround. Taking a card from her hand, Megumi declared, "I Summon 'Cosmic Compass' in Defense mode!" An odd piece of machinery then appeared on the field.
Cosmic Compass: DEF 300
"When this card is Normal Summoned, I can Special Summon a number of 'Cosmic Tokens', up to the number of monsters my opponent controls!" Megumi explained, two more identical-looking pieces of machinery appearing. A bolt of fire then shot out of 'Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon's' mouth and struck Megumi, dealing 500 more points of damage.
Cécile giggled some more. "Hey, Megumi, next time we Duel, leave the amatuer stuff at the door please..."
Megumi endured the blast, for it would be the last. Recovering, Megumi declared triumphantly, "I now Tribute my 'Cosmic Compass' and my two 'Cosmic Tokens' to Summon my new monster!" Megumi then began to chant, "Strike fear into your foes, and let none oppose you! Take their power and use it as your own! Arise, 'Destiny HERO - Plasma'!" The purple-armored man rose from the ground and spread his leathery wings, ready for battle.
Destiny HERO - Plasma: ATK 1900
Cécile smiled. "Hey, maybe you are actually a second rate duelist! You can pull off decent moves every now and then!"
Megumi smiled, but her heart was pounding. She was nervous, now that her favorite monster was finally out and about. She just needed to make sure she didn't slip up. "I activate the effect of 'Plasma'! I can absorb one of your monsters, and add half its ATK points to 'Plasma's'
Cécile smirked. "Choose wisely then..." The look on Cécile's face made it very clear she had something planned.
Megumi hesitated, seeing Cécile unaffected by the presence of her monster, but pulled herself together. "I choose your 'Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon'!" Megumi declared, and 'Plasma's' wings began sucking in the Xyz dragon, which struggled for a second before ultimately being absorbed into his wings.
Destiny HERO - Plasma: ATK 1900 --> ATK 3300
Cécile smirked once more. "Well that sends the overlay to my Graveyard so that's perfectly fine..." Her confidence was unwavering and her eyes easily backed it up with the intensity that shown in them.
Megumi hesitated further, debating whether or not to attack. Right now, it seemed like Megumi now had the upper hand, but she was also concerned about that facedown card. 'Plasma' was a strong monster, but even it had limits to its power. Megumi had learned the hard way just how devastating facedown cards could be. "T-Turn End!" Megumi said, not taking the chance.
"Well if you're sure..." Cécile teased. "Now I'll draw." Cécile looked at her card and smiled sympathetically at Megumi. "You know, it was a nice idea. I'm guessing 'Plasma' also negates effects? Since, after all it's the only different card, and of course you activated its effect and my dragon didn't end you. Too bad it still won't save you...I'll simply keep this card in my hand and then activate my 'Black Stone of Legend' from the Grave, this allows me to put my 'Red-Eyes' in the Grave back into my Deck and add the 'Black Stone' back to my hand. Now that that's settled I'm going to humiliate your new monster! I Summon my 'Black Stone of Legend' in Attack mode! Then I'll play this..."
Cécile revealed the 'Moon Mirror Shield' in her hand. "Now I'll equip it to my 'Black Stone of Legend'. Now then, 'Black Stone of Legend' Destroy her 'Destiny HERO - Plasma'!"
"No!" Megumi cried out as a mere stone went and destroyed her strongest monster in one blow.
Megumi: 1000 LP --> 900 LP
Cécile laughed uncontrollably. All the stone did was shimmer and the best card Megumi had played shattered instantly. "Wow Megumi, what was I thinking! I called you second rate, but losing your monster in such a manner, and to such a petty monster...That's just sad..." She sad this last part more harshly as well as her follow up. "Now 'Red-Eyes', destroy one of her other creatures!"
Megumi braced herself for the attack as it destroyed her second facedown 'Nimble Momonga'. "I still gain 1000 Life Points!" Megumi said, her Life Points rising up.
Megumi: 900 LP --> 1900 LP
"It won't matter, after your next turn, you lose!" Cécile had become so cold and so harsh in her words, holding complete confidence and reminding Megumi just how inferior she was compared to Cécile.
Megumi drew her next card, her morale now low. She never imagined something so humiliating to happen, and now she needed to recover from it before the Duel ended. Megumi took a moment to look at her card, then said, "I use 'Card Trader's' effect to shuffle one card back into my Deck and draw." Redrawing her next card, she decided that this would have to do. "I play the Spell Card: 'Swords of Revealing Light'!" Megumi declared, swords made of pure energy suddenly appearing and surrounding Cécile and her monsters. "Turn End," Megumi said.
Cécile shook her head. "A valiant effort, but I told you I would win this turn." Cécile drew her card and then grabbed the other one in her hand. "Now I activate this Spell card," Cécile played the card revealing a fairly common and well known card. "My 'Mystical Space Typhoon', to destroy your 'Swords'."
Megumi watched in dismay as the 'Swords' were blown apart by a strong wind.
"Now I Summon my 'Delta Flyer' to the field, though he won't be staying long. Next I'll finally give you the honor of facing my Ace. I now Synchro Summon using my 'Delta Flyer' and my 'Red-Eyes Black Dragon' to special summon my 'Trident Dragion'!" Cécile raised her hand firmly and confidently as her mighty dragon was Summoned to the field with three rageful roars shaking the field more then her 'Flare Metal Dragon' had earlier.
"Now tremble in fear, Megumi! I activate 'Trident Dragion's' effect, which allows me to sacrifce my 'Moon Mirror' and also my 'Black Stone', each one giving my Dragon an extra attack, and with that, 'Trident Dragion', Wipe out her monster and then go straight for her Life Points!"
Megumi braced herself for the attacks, the first destroying her last 'Nimble Momonga'. While she regained 1000 Life Points, it wouldn't be enough to survive the next attack, which wiped out the remainder of her Life Points.
Megumi: LP 2900 --> LP 0
"And that's the match," Alexander said, slowly clapping while walking over to Megumi.
Cécile giggled cheerfully again. "Well, looks like I win again Megumi." She said it so pleasantly and it held none of the harshness she'd had before, whether or not Megumi would find this insulting didn't matter to Cécile. She had fun with it, plus it was always nice to Summon her 'Trident Dragion', even if Megumi wasn't really worth the use of her ace monster.
Megumi remained sitting down on the ground, feeling frustrated over how little she was able to accomplish in that Duel. In the end, Cécile ran circles around her while she could do nothing. Then a hand entered her field of view. Megumi looked up to see Alexander offering to help her up. "Don't feel too bad, Megumi," Alexander consoled her. "Your deck isn't anywhere near perfect yet. All it needs is some consistency and balancing, and it should stand up to a lot of things." Megumi sniffed, then silently took his hand to get back on her feet.
Cécile sighed. She knew Alexander would always be by Megumi's side to help her out, but still, Cécile smiled and walked over to Megumi and for the first time offered her a handshake. "You've gotten a bit better, Megumi. I hope I didn't get too carried away out there."
Megumi looked up to see Cécile offering a handshake, and, after a moment, decided to take it. "Thanks," Megumi said dejectedly as she shook hands.
"As expected but she's clever." Joshua muttered to himself before dropping from he branch he was resting in. The sight of Plasma had surprised him. That was an exceptionally rare and powerful card He walked over to the youngsters. The loser of the match looked rather down. Well that wouldn't do. She seemed like so looked about ready to quit dueling and he couldn't have that. More duelist meant more fun for him. He walked right past Cécile, not even acknowledging her and possibly bumping into her on purpose, and instead knelt next to Megumi and placed a hand on her head, ruffling her hair a bit. He knew what it was like to be powerless. He wasn't a big fan of it either and could easily put himself in the girl's shoes.
"You put up a decent fight back there. To last that long after lose so many life points in one turn is impressive and a feat you should take pride in." he said to her, giving her a small smile."And to summon Plasma of all things. Unlike your opponent's monster, bringing him out takes some skill and set up. Don't look so glum about this lose. You did very well and you have a lot of room to improve by the looks of it. Given time, you'll completely eclipse that other girl and leave her by the wayside with little effort.
Don't look so down about a good effort. Take what you learned and improve. After all, that's what being a duelist is all about. Losing and learn so you can destroy who you lost against sometime down the road."
Standing up, he walked away, again bumping into Cécile without even apologizing, before stopping after a few steps. "Oh sorry about that, I didn't introduce myself did I?" He said."Name's Joshua. I'll be staying here for a little while. If you want, maybe I'll duel ya sometime. You look like you might be worth it, Miss Megumi. And if your male friend there wants to join the fun, I'll be happy to take him on as well."
Moros looked the cards offered carefully, of course he would duel anyway but icing on the cake so to speak. "Alright then its a duel!" Moros said enthusiastically as they moved to the duel area. "Since I challenged I'll let you go first." Moros said as he drew his first hand. "Don't worry Akira, It'' be a good duel." Moros said cheerfully waving at his supporter.
Turn 1:Adrien
Moros 4000 LP: 5 cards Adrien 4000 LP: 5 cards
Smirking as he put his arm out towards Moros, Adrien's duel disk came to life as he pulled it back towards himself as it finished and drew his cards. "I'll try not to humiliate you too badly, since you seem like a decent guy!" Adrien said as he placed two cards face down on the field and grabbed a third card. "And to do so I'll be placing these two facedowns, and then I'll summon my 'Red-Eyes Wyvern', in attack mode!" Adrien dramatically placed the card onto his duel disk as the dragon then appeared sending a discordant burst of noise towards Moros.
Red-Eyes Wyvern: 1800 ATK
Moros looked at the monster, at this point as usuall he would stick to the defensive, it seemed he remembered correctly that Adrien was using a dragon deck. "If you're done I guess that makes it my turn." Moros said as he drew his next card.
A brief look and Moros settled on his plan of action, if it went without a hitch this duel would be over quickly. This combo was perfect, allowing to supercharge his King with ease. "Alright I'll set one monster, two facedowns and end my turn."
Adrien smirked as he drew his next card. "Very well then! I draw and then activate this Spell card!" Adrien then played the Spell card he had drawn revealing 'Stamping Destruction'. "With this card, and at least one Dragon-type monster, I get to destroy one Spell or Trap card on the field and its owner loses five hundred Life Points, and I choose your right facedown!" Adrien declared as he pointed at the face down card.
"Ow," Moros said, disappointed as his 'Mirror Force' was destroyed and the blast impacted. He shook away the damage looking at the battlefield somewhat more worriedly. That was his primary protection gone but he still shouldn't be in any real danger.
Adrien continued by pointing at the set monster. "Now my Wyvern! Destroy his hidden monster!"
Moros grinned, a good start, his facedown card was revealed to be a turtle wearing a pyramid on its back before it shattered in a flurry of light and was sent to the Graveyard. "Now 'Pyramid Turtle's' effect activates. When it's destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, I can Special Summon a Zombie-Type monster from my Deck to the Field as long as it has less than 2000 DEF. I'll summon 'Wightprince' in Defense mode." A puny looking skeleton appeared holding the small dog it had in front of it as a measly form of protection.
Wightprince: 0 DEF
"But thats just the beginning, now I activate my Trap Card: 'Chain Destruction' when a monster with 2000 or less ATK is Summoned: I can send all copies of that card from the owners Hand or Deck to the Graveyard." A chain rose from the trap and snaked its way into Moros's Deck, grabbing two cards and dragging them into the Graveyard. "When 'Wightprince' goes to the Graveyard, his effect triggers, allowing me to send 1 'Lady in Wight' and 1 'Skull Servant' with him." Moros said as four more cards went to the graveyard. "Still your move, anything else?" Moros inquired eager to get his next turn underway.
Adrien smiled kindly. "Cute, but no, that is all for now."
Moros grinned. If Adrien thought that move was cute, he should wait just a few more turns, then Moros would show him something even 'Cyber End Dragon' couldn't beat. "Well I suppose I'll just Set one monster facedown and end my turn," Moros said looking disappointed.
Adrien raised an eyebrow. "Not much for that one then..." He then drew his card and smiled. "Now then, this is where the fun really begins! I summon a second 'Red-Eyes Wyvern' in Attack mode!" The dragon appeared, making the same noise as the other had and mirrored its other in the opposite manner as it glared down on Moros.
Moros looked on curiously. Two monsters were nice, but he had been expecting him to pull out some sort of big dragon monster thing.
"Now, my 'Wyverns'! Destroy his petty monsters!"
Perfect, 'Wightprince' was sent to the graveyard, but his other monster was made of more sturdy stuff. "I'm afraid that won't be enough to destroy my 'Lady in Wight'," Moros called out as his facedown was revealed to be a 2200 DEF monster. "Better luck next time. Though luckily for you, 'Wightprince' can only activate his effect if I can send both a 'Lady in Wight' and a 'Skull Servant' to the grave which unfortunatly I can't."
Lady in Wight: 2200 DEF
Adrien gave Moros a sympathetic smile. "Shame, in that case now that I move into the second main phase I'll overlay my two dragons," He acted as though the four hundred Life Point loss was nothing, which it was. "To Xyz Summon my 'Queen Dragon Djinn', in Attack mode!"
A black spiraling galaxy appeared in the sky, which the two dragons were sucked into after being transformed into yellow balls of energy. From the galaxy came a half-woman, half-fiery griffon creature, descending down onto the field in all its glory.
Today is Uther's first day at school and so far he already somehow goofed up by losing the map of the school that was given to him earlier by one of the faculty. Minutes passed by until he came across the dueling arena and witnessed that there was a duel going on. Wondering what it was about, he looked around for a seat and ended up siting next to someone who was apparently cheering for the duelist using a zombie deck. Uther was not the kind of kid to cheer off for his friends but then again he didn't really have any to begin with so instead, he continued watching the match in awe.
Moros like out a small chuckle, sure it was a fancy Xyz monster but it still didn't have enough attack to beat his 'Lady'. Now if he could just summon his 'King' this duel would be over. "I'll set one card and end my turn."
Adrien drew his card and grinned. "Now this is where the game gets real fun...First of all I'll play this Spell card." Adrien revealed the 'Card of Red Jewel' from his hand and played it. "This allows me to discard one Level seven 'Red-Eyes' monster to the Graveyard to draw two cards." He placed a 'Red-Eyes' in his Grave, but then waved his hand out and a Trap activated. "However this triggers one of my Trap cards, 'Red-Eyes Spirit'. This allows me to Special Summon my 'Red-Eyes' from my graveyard, so please welcome the 'Red-Eyes Black Dragon'!" Adrien thrust his arm into the air dramatically as his 'Red-Eyes' was summoned.
Red-Eyes Black Dragon: ATK 2400
"But wait, there's more! I will then summon from my hand," He said as he drew his two new cards. "The Black Stone of Legend. Then by activating his effect, I can Summon yet another 'Red-Eyes Black Dragon' from the deck!" Adrien this time moved his hand down as the second 'Black Dragon' burst out of the stone.
"Now from here I'll Xyz Summon one of my ultimate creatures! I overlay my two 'Red-Eyes Black Dragon's' to summon, 'Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon'!"
Once more the spiraling galaxy appeared this time to reveal the incredible, metal covered 'Red-Eyes'. "Not only does my dragon have a nice attack, but its effects are even more cruel," Adrien smirked as the dragon landed and roared shaking the surrounding area.
Moros examined the impressive monster curiously. A cruel effect hm? Well he would see about that, it still didn't have nearly enough attack to contest with him, all in all in was going according to plan.
Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon: 2800 Atk
"Now then, Flare Metal Dragon, destroy his monster, with Molten Wing!" The metal covered dragon paused for a moment, its wings glowing an evil red color as they were engulfed in magma. Then it viciously beat its wings forward and the lava was flung forward spiralling towards the defending monster
"Not so fast, I'll activate the trap card 'Threatening Roar', this card prevents my opponent from launching any attacks this turn." Moros called out confidently as the incoming attack was intercepted by a powerful gust of wind blocking it cooling the lava and cussing it to harmlessly fall to the ground.
"Ha! that's perfectly fine! Your Trap activates my monster's effect! When you activate a card, or use an effect you lose five hundred of your Life Points, go 'Flare Metal Dragon'!"
Moros grunted in surprise as he was briefly engulfed in a violent plume of fire. A cruel effect indeed. Now that he only had 3000 LP that meant he could only activate five more effects before losing the duel, assuming he took no other damage. "Surprising, but it won't be enough, I assume its my turn?"
"Not quite, I'll place one card facedown and end my turn..." The card appeared as Adrien stood calmly with his arms crossed.
Moros thought it through carefully. With a 'Lady' on the field, he was almost guaranteed to be safe from whatever facedowns he had. It would be best to end this quickly before that 'Flare Dragon' could whittle his LP down any further. Luckily he was more than prepared for this.
"If you think that you can win just because you have a big monster out, you're dead wrong. Nothing is stronger than my 'King of Skull Servants'!" Moros cried out as he played it from his hand. The royal skeleton appeared standing on a pile of skeletons rising over the battlefield even taller than Adrien's monster.
"My monster has an unstopabble 7000 ATK, and he'll use it to destroy your 'Metal Flare Dragon' with Revenge Blast!" Moros yelled as the robed skeleton raised his hand. Small wisps of power rose up from the skeletons beneath him and assembled into a condensed purple ball of power and was hurled towards the metal monstrosity.
"I don't think so..." Adrien waved his hand and the Trap card 'Waboku' revealed. "I like my classics, and 'Waboku' here is another one. I take no battle damage this turn, and technically I don't lose my monster either, though technically my dragon would've survived even wihout this effect thanks to my Queen!"
Moros frowned, frustrated. It was one of those pesky cards that his Lady couldn't protect his King from, because of course the card wasn't aimed at his 'King'. "Looks like you get to live a little longer. Just remember, you can't stop a Zombie. I'll set two cards and end my turn."
"Now then, first things first, I'll Summon a second 'Black Stone of Legend' to the field in attack mode." The black stone appeared on the field, lacking all factors of intimidation.
Moros watched, not discrediting the monster. He had enough monsters with no attack of his own to realize that the effect was what made the monster.
"Now I Tribute my 'Black Stone of Legend' to Special Summon from my Deck 'Red-Eyes Archfiend of Lightning' in Defense mode."
Moros waited to see Adrien's next move. It was rather interesting that he had chosen to summon it in Defense mode. Was he going to switch all his monsters into Defense mode?
"Now I'll switch my 'Flare Metal Dragon' to defense as well. Next I'll throw 'Dragon Shield' to my 'Queen' and then I'll place one card face down and end my turn." Adrien hadn't wavered, nor would he, this guy would have to learn a lesson.
Moro's grinned; if his opponent thought that a defensive wall could stop then he was even more wrong then attempting to out attack his 'King'." I think I'll use my spell card 'Dark Hole' to wipe my field of monsters, oh and part of yours, I suppose," Moro's said as the center of the field turned into a dark vortex, dragging in all of Moros's monsters as well as Adrien's 'Archfiend of Lightning'.
Adrien had considered using his trap card, but in the end Moros had fought a good fight. He smiled a bit to himself watching his monster get sucked away and closed his eyes in thought.
"Now I don't like the thought of whatever your facedown is, so I'll activate my facedown Spell card: 'Mystical Space Typoon'!" Moros proclaimed. "With that, your field might as well be cleared, now I'll activate 'Wightprince's' effect in the Graveyard. If I banish him and 1 'Lady in Wight' as well as one 'Skull Servant', I can Special Summon one 'King of Skull Servants' from my Deck!" Moros said, taking the card from his Deck and playing it directly to the field. "His power may be reduced, but he still boasts 5000 ATK, more than enough to deal with you.
Adrien had listened to his 'Flare Metal Dragon; take a chunk out of Moros' life points every time he used effects, or activated a monster effect. It was always a nice sound. Adrien would have to put forth some effort next time he played Moros. He hadn't taken this seriously enough, but unlike his sister, Adrien didn't make a big deal about winning all the time.
"Now to finish you off! I'll equip my 'King' with the Spell card: 'Opti-Camoflauge Armour'!" Moros called out as his monster was covered in shimmering armour that caused it to fade in and out of view. "The 2000 damage he suffered was painful but nothing compared to what Adrien was facing. "Now 'King of Skull Servants', finish this duel with Revenge Blast!" His monster faded out of view, then appeared directly in front of Adrien, a ghost of a smile on its face as the dark sphere filled with the power of fallen monsters gently tapped against Adrien and exploded in a burst of vengeful fury.
Adrien had raised his arms to defend himself as his hair waved about from Moros' King attacking him and then his Life Points reached zero. It was definitely a good match, though if Moros thought he'd seen everything, then he had another thing coming at the next tournament.
"Alright!" Moros cried gleefully as the last of Adrien's LP vanished. He paused, perhaps he was celebrating a little too much. "Uh, good game." Moros said offering a handshake as the dueling area powered down.
"Indeed it was, I definitely enjoyed it." Adrien said while taking Moros' hand and shaking it while smiling. "You're not half bad. It's no wonder my sister likes you." Of course if Cécile had been there, she would have killed Adrien for saying that, but she wasn't.
Moros blinked in surprise. What? What? She liked him? What? "Thanks, I guess." Moros said still working over this new revalation. After a breif moment of thought he decided it was best to pretend it had never been said and not worry about it. Probablly...
Akira had watched the duel in awe the two were such great players he couldnt help but want to play himself. Leaping up onto the platform he smiled and walked over to Moros placing a hand on his shoulder. "Way to go now I don't have to get my hands dirty." he said with a chuckle before turning to Adrian. "I'm sorry I got so heated before. I just feel like we should have more respect for our cards than that you know? they make us who we are." he said before taking a deep breath smiling.
Xavier made his way down to the cafeteria later than everybody else. Xavier noticed some familiar faces, Alexander and Moros. They each had just finished up their own duels just outside the lunch room. As they approached, Xavier opened his mouth to speak but just as a greeting began to come from his mouth, a loud announcement began to ring from the speakers and large screen that hung off of the front of the Cafeteria. "Attention! One of our students has gone missing from the campus. We are currently entering High Alert mode, all students are advised to stay indoors and get indoors if they aren't already. In addition, if you see any suspicious people outside you are advised to tell one of the academy personnel."
The announcement ended and Xavier ran to Alexander, "What should we do?" He asked, the whole situation startled him.
At last this morning Keio was finally dressed and ready for breakfast. The young duelist did not exactly sleep in as much as he woke up early. He spend a good deal of the morning editing his constantly changing deck. That duel against Alexander reminded him of that card he liked to use last year. Maybe he could find a way to balance it out with the cards he currently owns. Eventually sometime after Xavier left Keio managed to get ready when an announcement came over the entire campus. Someone had gone missing and everyone had better get indoors soon. Keio was as far from a doorway as one could get at this moment. He quickly scurried off to the cafeteria and grabbed some food and made a makeshift breakfast sandwich. "Does anyone know who went missing?" Keio sked a random group of people who seemed rather clueless.
Megumi barely heard the words everyone was saying through her depression, and it was only when someone ruffled her hair did she look up. After listening to his little speech, she gave a small smile and was about to say something when the announcement came through the speakers. Her eyes went wide and grabbed Alexander's arm. "What should we do?" Megumi asked, looking up at Alexander.
Alexander was certainly surprised at the announcement, but he managed to maintain his calm demeanor and reply, "All we need to do is stay in our dorms and hope that those on the job will find the girl and the crisis will be over." Of course, things seemed more dire than that. Alexander, being a smart person, figured out that an announcement for what seemed like a minor case wouldn't be announced so alarmingly. After all, it was only a missing student.
Of course, because it was an announcement, it was obviously something more dire. Possibly even a kidnapping. If it were the case, it was imperative that everyone reach a safe location and stay there until further notice. Alexander said to Megumi, "I'll take you to your dorm room. Stay there until we get the all-clear." He said to everyone else, "That goes for all of you. Get someplace safe, and stay out of trouble." On that note, Alexander and Megumi walked off.
Yuji and the others had finally gotten their breakfast, and had been enjoying it when the announcement came. Yuji, disappointed that he was only half way through his breakfast, took one last bite before throwing it away and began to head back to his dorm.
"What a way to ruin a day, eh?" Jin asked. "You go on ahead to the dorm, Yuji, I'll take Yuna back to hers."
Yuna was silent for a moment, then said, "I wanna go find that girl."
The other two were silent for a moment, then Yuji replied, "You're joking."
"I'm serious," Yuna responded.
"Well I suppose it's one way to spend a day," Jim said. "Where do you wanna start looking?"
"Oh, not you too," Yuji groaned.
"Come on, Yuji-kun, we find that girl, we might even get a reward," Jin said, flashing a toothy grin. "Plus, we help a poor girl get back home. Win-win!"
Yuji looked at the two for a few moments, then breathed out a long sigh and said, "Fine, I'll come, if only because I don't trust you two on you're own."
"That's the spirit!" Jin said, still smiling. "Let's go save a girl!"
Moros turned in surprise at the announcement. An intruder? "Come on lets get inside." He said to Adrien somewhat worriedly. He hoped nothing bad happened, it had been such a good day so far. Following both Alexander's and his own advice he made his way back to his dorm. He retracted his duel disk and put his deck into his pocket. "No idea who's missing but i'm sure they'll show up soon." he said cheerfully in response to Keio's inquiry.
Adrien didn't realy react immediately. He'd heard the announcement just like veryone else, but he didn't panic or anything like that. Instead his mind instantly starting kicking into gear. Sadly there wasn't really enough information and he also examined his peers. It was obvious Moros was worried, so it would probably be best to make sure his friends, well if they even considered him one, were safe. "Yeah, let's see if we can't find the others. Come on..." Adrien spoke calmly, though one might be able to tell he was deep in thought as well as his duel disk retracted and he motioned for Moros to follow.
Mean while Cécile's victory was short lived. For one some random guy decided to walk in with no manners, which of course is exactly what this place needed, and also decided that lying to people was a good option. Honestly, giving Megumi false hope at beating her was futile. He acted as if Cécile would never get better, but the flaw in that was that she would always improve. Now maybe she could have a better attitude like her brother. Not actually just focus on winning and just focus on making it great for everyone to watch, and enjoyable for the players too. At this point thoough she just wasn't willing to do that, well not for Megumi anyway. Now if she were versing someone like Alex, or maybe Moros, then just maybe.
Then over the intercom came a message of warning. Either the school were bad liars or they liked making a big fuss out of nothing. Last Cécile had checked the school didn't normally go through all of this for a lost student. So the question was what was really going on, and would she really follow the rules? Obviously to get answers to the first question she was going to have to say no to the second one. So it was decided then that Cécile would decide to be adventurous and try and find out what was going on, despite the rules, besides, clearly she wasn't making any friends. She couldn't help who she was or how good she was. The way that one guy acted towards her when Megumi was the one who challenged her. But this guy acted as though she had picked on a weak innocent girl. God she couldn't stand people who just judged her, or anyone really, based on the first thing they saw of a person. With these thoughts Cécile turned and ran off to try and find either the lost individual, or some idea of what was going on.
Yuna walked ahead, with Yuji and Jin close behind. "Do you even know where to start looking?" Yuji asks Yuna.
"Not really, but I have a strange feeling, almost like I'm being drawn to somewhere," Yuna responded.
"Well that's a lot better than what we can do," Jin said. "We'll follow you then."
Yuji sighed, thinking that this whole endeavor was quite idiotic and irresponsible, which it was, but it was happening anyway. Sadly, he had committed to it now, and he might as well see it all the way through.
Eventually, they made their way to the park. Or course, it was the same one Yuna had first appeared in.
"Why are we here of all places?" Yuji asked.
"I don't know, but the feeling hasn't stopped yet," Yuna responded. "I can't really explain it, but I feel like something's going on, and it involves something important."
"Hey, no worries, we'll be here to help you every step of the way," Jin said, smiling and giving a thumbs up.
Yuna then stopped for a moment, then turned around. "There," Yuna said, pointing to a nearby warehouse.
Yuji and Jin followed her line of sight, then Jin said, "Well that's certainly a place to start. Lead the way, Scooby Doo."
Confused, Yuna turned around and asked, "What?"
"Nothing," Jin said quickly, then turned to Yuji, who had raised an eyebrow at the comment. "What?" Jin asked innocently.
Xavier looked over at Keio who had just asked the group a question. "Oh, hey!" He said, recognizing his roommate. "Do you really think that its fine to stay inside? Shouldn't we try to look for them?" Xavier was of course referring to the lost student. It didn't feel right to just sit around and wait for them to be found. It was almost like Xavier felt somewhat responsible for what was happening. He looked around at all the students that were currently fleeing to either their dorm or the main building, among them were Alexander, the girl he always hung around, and Moros. He nearly asked them to help him look for the student, but thought twice knowing that if they wanted to help they would have thought of it originally. Plus, even if they hadn't said it but still thought it, Xavier had suggested it to Keio loud enough that anybody could hear.
@Ryuzaki As everyon around them began to flood out of the cafeteria Keio simply stood around eating his sandwich. He figured that he could not escape anywhere in the next two second with the door clogged so he walked over to the fountain machine and poured himself a paper cup of milk. He continued eating when his roommate approached him with a suggestion. "If we are in a group then we will be safe from any normal thugs. I'm game game to back you up if you want to search." He firmly told his roommate.
"Well, time for me to get outa here." Joshua muttered to himself. He quickly got off the school grounds before anyone could try and stop him. Once off the grounds, he headed to the park, like he had told the kids from before he would, and found a nice bench to lay down on and get some shut eye. He wasn't asleep for very long before he heard some voice, a girl and two boys from the sounds of it. He ignored them though and just kept his eyes closed, though he was still attentive to his surroundings incase something was to happen.
