I find that having Elder Gods is only cool when portrayed with a sense of mystery. That is, their motives are unknown and completely deviating from any concept a human might be able to comprehend. It's a little difficult to write, but once you get it right, it's pretty fun to read/play. At least that's how I do it on my CoC campaigns- not that I've actually run one in over half a year.

I come from the DM line of writers, in where I know all to well that if you stat it, they will try and kill it. Just look at Skallagrims... Dreamer Skallagrim in the first Multiverse. Everyone one wanted to fight him never mind how ridiculously strong he was. XD

Ao doesn't even have a sheet, and I don't plan on making one for him.

Hey, just coming in to tell everyone I'm still around. New Arenas are mostly done but I have to take a break since judging for the Third Labour starts tomorrow, but you can expect all six to be ready and up by the 5th of August at the latest.

Here's a spoiler of their names and a hint at the nature in the meantime.

-Recursive Gameboard: Hope you've been practicing your Metagame.
-Geodesic Valley: Straightforward, in a roundabout way.
-Onslaught Station: A Prisoner's Dilemma run through a meatgrinder.
-Clockwork Fairground: A race to the finish - but it's not about who comes first.
-Timeshare Lodge: Where schedule conflicts become invariably fatal.
-The Rhino's Den: Never bargain with a Demon unless you have to.

I've always thought the multiverse needed an ultimate goal to motivate the characters and drive events. A main quest to complete. Perhaps a simple collect-the-McGuffins for ultimate power? Therefore, people with similar goals, such as world peace or destruction would band together.

I have a persistent world idea where that's the case. I mentioned it here but you were not around. Have you heard about the fighting game called skullgirls? It's inspired by that. People will try to find a special artifact that will grand their wish and give you special powers but you will become the next target of the other people wanting the artifact, so will likely team up to take you down. If your heart and wish isn't pure then it's super easy for your wish to become corrupted and there's a voice in everyone's head trying to corrupt them the closer they get to the artifact, twisting their good intentions to something sinister.

Np, RL always comes first, besides I get to procrastinate some more!!

Taking notes from my character-a-day strategy, I see.

That, too, will work. Honestly, anything that is in huge demand but low supply will work as an ultimate quest item.

Why bother with recruitment? Anybody with enough interest would notice a tab that said "Arena". That's what I did when I noticed so many years ago. I went by a different name then though- not like that matters or anything.

I think with all the power-wank that is the arena, everybody would rather be part of their own little faction with all the different characters they use being in that faction. Of course, there are people who have both "heel" and "face" characters. If nothing else, it should just be no factions, as it's always been. Who needs team work anyways?

I don't know what you're talking about, but as far as I'm aware there aren't tabs saying 'Arena' in the Multiverse, which is IC.

You're wrong, actually, a lot of people like to join the big pre-existing factions with their different characters, because most people don't have a universal theme in which to sandwich all their characters and rarely if ever have a set of characters with applicable morals and ideologies. Also, factions are ultimately just a story tool, to deprive ourselves of such a useful method of story telling would be foolish, it's already hard enough I find to get my characters into convincing fights with realistic motives. Factions help out immensely in story telling, even the little neutral players can run around causing trouble for the people working with factions, where-as neutrals fighting neutrals is incredibly pointless and often makes for a lacklustre fight without proper motivations.

What you seem to be suggesting is we should discard story in Arena and just fight amongst ourselves for no good reason, which is a poor interpretation about what the Arena Multiverse is. I'd recommend reading things more thoroughly in future as many of your points seem misinformed.

Don't take this the wrong way, but when you flounder in describing the Arena as a 'power wank' and essentially pew pewing on the Multiverse and story telling in the Arena, I like to nip it in the bud as soon as possible. You're giving out the wrong ideas about what the Arena is about to new people, which is story telling with a greater emphasis on conflict.

Why must my favorite character ideas, take the most research!? Not that the research is boring at all or that I mind it, it's just that I wished the process would move so much faster so I could play them already!

Mmhmm, I do more research for Arena than I do for my actual History Essays.

Haha!!! RIGHT! I know what you mean. Heck, I've probably learned more from Researching for roleplays than I even did when I was in school. Granted, most of it is non-essential information, but you never know when someone might want to know this random stuff, right!?

Yeah, I know a weird amount about tanks after spending about half a day designing my battle mech character. That's information I really don't need.

Well, I research more than ways to make something work. Scientific articles, Lore, Clothings, names, weaponry, cultures, languages, creatures, religions, you name it. I really like some of the really old stuff buried in weird corners of the Internet.

Yup. Thankfully there's Game and Film theory to do the heavy research for me for allot of the things I'm interested in. I mean I had no idea before that DBZ was using actual theoretical science in their fights. That must throw Skalla's whole world into wack.

I mean, I might not have even learned that their are four fundamental stats of matter not three(never mind that only 1% of the universe is made up of liquid, solid and gas's) as we have been lead to believe in school. Goes to show you the Arena is where you go to really learn SCIENCE!

You must become more of a nerd so that you can know earlier on about plasma from videos about how real life lightsabers would work.
