The problem with the whole ranked system, now everyone wants to have "ranked" matches. Everyone, no matter how terrible their writing is, suddenly wants to have ranked matches without actually joining the community and taking part in "official" ranked events.

I was under the impression only a mod could actually decide who won, so if people fight without joining the leaderboards or having an official judge their match just won't be finalized.

Strictly speaking, Rilla should probably saunter over to their OOC and let them know of this, in case they weren't aware.

Only a mod can.

however, whoever they got to promote their match to ranked can give them the win.

Or can people now set their own matches to ranked?

Nah, anyone can start a match ranked. It can only be changed in the future by a mod.

Not like it really matters if a mod has the final say if it counts towards the leader-boards or not.

It won't, unless they can get another mod to validate it for them. I'm not sure if they all know that's under my domain, so to speak. Seussy might.

True, but it defeats the ranking system and official events uf people can strut around with 12-0 records never facing any of us in offical matches.

They won't have that record, because a mod has to dictate who won the fight, and therefore who is allocated points, if you catch my drift. Literally all an unsanctioned ranked fight has is the word 'ranked' next to it, nothing else.

Ever heard of Elfen Lied? I have a character in mind who is sort of like that but can attach his ability on to stuff outside his body. His magic is visible but in terms of attack power, there you go.

So as a new user, I have had the difficulty of needing to pump out characters to have diversity and to stay up to par with others. I'd also like to refrain from using the same character in two simultaneous fights.

Would ten be a good number?

10, 2, 200. It really is up to you. Four characters is more than enough really.

Just keep fighting and making characters. Characters will come naturally as you experience new stuff in the Arena, as well as when strokes of inspiration arise. Don't try to pump out X number of characters, cause you'll realize soon that you won't even want to play most of them, because there isn't much going for the character or you're just not feeling them. Just because you have an idea for a character, doesn't always mean you'll end up making it. I always just jot them down somewhere and come back to it later and see how I feel, particularly if they aren't all that inspired, or if it's only a momentary thing. As many character ideas I have floating around on my character Sheet thread, I only have 2 completed sheets and a half completed one. But those are ones I know I want to use. The others I usually test by bringing them into storylines involving other characters. I.E. Before I started work on Taro and Yasu, I wrote a small piece involving them in my Fight using Mason(The Prismatic Archer) vs. Rilla's Demon Elf who's complicated name I constantly forget. (I like simple names.) Then, in my Character Sheet for Hadyn, much of his Origin story details some side characters here and there, but a man named Arsto in particular. I may or may not develop a CS for him as well, but I'm hoping to dig a little into that particular character while I journey around with Hadyn.

I guess what I'm saying is don't force it. Sometimes the characters are good ideas for Arena characters, other times they might just make good NPCs. Don't get me wrong, I throughly enjoy when a person can constantly spit out characters like ImportantNobody can, but let's be honest here, how many of his characters do you think he actually uses? If anything, most of them are just rough ideas that could potentially be other New characters. No offense to him, of course. I enjoy his works.

Just find what works for you, though. You shouldn't feel the need to just Pump characters out.

Ooooh. Colorful.

"-No mortal should and will stand a chance in a fight" No mortal should stand a chance against a Medium-Powered character, to be honest.

Also, I feel like there is this large gap of power between your definition of Medium and High Powered individuals. I'm also pretty sure Ultra is typically labeled above High in most characters I've seen, High being that gap you seem to have jumped over. High-powered characters, for me is the fun zone. Much more creativity in power, more loose, and typically where a lot of characters that participate in these tournaments are at. But, they aren't insanely powered either with every power under the sun and capable of destroying universes with a glance. I think High powered might be able to destroy a planet with some elbow grease involved, but not a typical thing to happen either.

Well fine then... here is my definition of a high-power champion(/character,but champion sounds so much cooler and arena-y.)
HIGH POWER:
-Basically all of his/her attacks have some sort of power attached to it.
-A low power character would have an extremely difficult fight.
in summary every fantasy MMO character at Max level.
- If they are not magic, they probably have really powerful enchanted armor or extremely advanced technology.
-What I imagine when I listen to power metal and they mention mighty warriors or something.

Examples for each level:
no-power:some random roman gladiator.
Low:every sword-and-sorcery,Conan the barbarian type wizard, because they have to plan like days/weeks ahead of time in some ritual to make their spells.
Medium:a super hero like iron-man,or captain america, who have powers/equipment, but they have to be in a group to take on something several times more powerful then they are alone.
High:the typical high-fantasy, practically a demigod wizard who have taken down large beasts. (such as Gandalf.)
Ultra: basically every Important character (both good and evil) in the dragon ball universe. (do I really need to support my reasoning.)

For me, it is testing characters at varying levels so that I can be best prepared for tournaments and such.

My favorite so far, although the fight was never finished, was a HungerGames-esque type battle. The Arena was pretty simple, a large forest. What made it interesting was that there were something like 9 other practically God like warriors in the same arena trying to kill each other. The poor Forest didn't stand a chance.
