Mike growled after Fell as he yelled at him "Don't you dear fucking lecture me, I been doing this for a fuck load longer then you have. I would kick your ass in a duel but you know what, you really are not worth my time or effort". He then walked off with Draco following him, he then heard the commander call and sighed before he grab his kit from his cabin, it was all designed after dragons including the helmet but then again Mike had always had a fascination with them. Draco landed on his shoulder as Mike got his special armour ready which changed when Draco went full dragon.

Mike then move on after helping the recruit he had knocked to the ground, the young man nodded to Mike in respect before the two of them followed the rest of the Mercs to the meeting.

She was nearly to the training grounds when she heard the announcement for the meeting. She sighed. That was a lot shorter of a break than she thought, or maybe she took a lot longer with her own training than she realized...

She grounded herself once more and headed over to Eliot with a smile. She chuckled softly as she noticed Ashlinn poking and forcing her way to fix and clean his wounds. "Hey! You coming or what?"

Edith steeled herself as the crowd parted for Calliope's approach. She shifted her bag to one hand so that she could take the Harbinger's offered one. The other young woman had warm hands, and they helped to calm the nervous Familiar. "... but I promise I won't bite." Edith smiled at Calliope and allowed her to lead the way to the Circle's center. Once she was standing alone, she opened her mouth to speak only to pause and look around almost frantically. Her eyes rested on a nearby table that she quickly pulled to the center, cringing at the awful dragging noise.

"Hello... I am Edith Marna Volner, Apprentice Professor of Lore at Velriya University and Assistant to the High Professor of Lore. If you have little brothers or sisters, I've probably taught them a thing or two... So, um, I needed this table because I have important information... and it requires a demonstration... and...," Edith trailed off, finally looking around the tent and into the faces of the men and women surrounding her. Some looked annoyed, others looked impatient, still others looked interested, and among the crowd were a few looks of encouragement. She glanced at the three Estuary leaders and find her resolve looking into their eyes. They needed this information more than anyone because any spilled blood would unnecessarily rest on their shoulders.

Edith took a deep breath, and again turned to the table before her. "I recently translated a volume of old lore dated to the beginnings of this war. The book was a journal of discoveries from a wise hermit, Kano, that abandoned city life to live in the forest that now lies deep within the shadow lands. His fight for survival uncovered many secrets about the Cimmerians. Though the volume is incomplete, I was able to find something very useful. It's no solution to the war, but it will be helpful in saving lives... I hope." The last part was whispered under her breath as she began to pull items from her bag. Stashed with her clothes and notebook was a branch, some flint, and a jar wrapped in paper. "There is a special tree that grows across Velriya in small, mostly hidden groves. It is called the Lux Orbisque, the light bringer. We have been able to cultivate a small grove within the greenhouse of the university. Originally, we thought the name had come from the unique, almost metallic leaves that it has; they reflect even the moonlight. But I found the real reason." Edith sparked the flint and lit the end of the branch. It began to shine brightly and flickered only slightly.

The young woman began to reach for the jar but realized that unwrapping it would be difficult with only one hand. Edith let out a melodic whistle. A rustling could be heard from the tent's entrance, and then Sunspark flew in and over the crowd, landing on the table. The Familiar smiled down at her vein and mouthed a thank you as she handed him the torch. "Please don't be alarmed," she said as she unwrapped the jar. Inside was a swirling cloud of darkness that resembled the nearing Cimmerian storm. She could hear the crowd grow disgruntled at the sight. "This is a sample collected at one of last season's battles. Now you must watch closely."

Edith held the jar away from her to one side, causing those closest to her to take a step back. She then looked to Sunspark and nodded towards the lamp above them. The raven handed back the torch, which Edith held out to the opposite side. Sunspark then flew up to the lamp and distinguished the lamp with a flap of his wings before carefully settling back down on the table. The bright shine from the torch cast a mesmerizing glow on the red haired woman as she turned to face the leaders of the Estuaries. She brought her arms towards the center of her body, and as the light of the torch touched the glass of the jar, the darkness within immediately began to retreat. When Edith had brought the jar and torch directly next to each other, the jar could be seen visibly vibrating as the darkness compressed itself into a corner of the jar. An audible gasp came from the crowd. "With torches made from the Lux Orbisque, people could travel relatively safely at night, lines of lesser Cimmerians could be pushed back during an attack, perhaps it would even slow down a greater Cimmerian."

Finished with her demonstration, Edith set the jar down and gave Sunspark the torch to relight the lantern. She then extinguished the Lux torch and placed it on the table next to the jar. The darkness still stayed to the side opposite of the warm branch.

Dominique picked a spot where he lent against one of the supporting poles of the tent, cross armed and facing directly into the centre of the Circle. Originally he thought his ears deceived him when Calliope mentioned moving in the night. This was unheard of. The possibility was completely ruled out of the harbinger's mind but then again, would it really ever be unlikely? The commotion from the crowd was a mix of mostly confusion and a little bit defiant. However, what Dominique really awaited was for Edith's speech.

Soon enough, Calliope had lead Edith to the centre and it was finally time for her importance to be revealed. Dominique would never, ever have believed what just happen. He had originally grabbed the hilt of his knife when he saw the jar with a vice like grip. However, what followed was frankly unbelievable. The darkness was moving? Cowering from the light? Dominique stepped forward to the front of the crowd to get a closer look. Also he wanted to know what other members thought too, especially the Estuary leaders.

Ashlinn sat in between a few Merc's in the circle and listened to what her own leader and the leader of the Harbringer's was saying and she didn't know what to say. She looked around, knowing it was a pretty bad idea to travel during the dark. Everybody knew that, and the crowd was aware of this too. She watched the Familiar with the demonstration and nodded, it was a great thing.

She then got up from her seat and walked up to Kieren. ''Kieren?'' she asked softly. ''If you feel okay with it, I would like to travel along with the young recruits.. Snow's wings can light up in the moonlight.. So she can also help with keeping us inside the light'' she said and gave a soft smile. She knew it was a low chance she had but, she could try and she really wanted to help.

Mike looked at Ashlinn and Kiran as he suggested "If you two choose to go, allow me to offer my services as protection during the trike, Draco fire can keep the darkness at bay when he lights his whole body on fire. Since he's a dragon, his own fire does not hurt him at all, instead it makes him more powerful and prepared for whatever comes this way". Mike always liked to offer his services to help people epically when they were as beautiful as Ashlinn was but he contained the flirty side so he could be serious and mature in this situation.

George von Strong, a well respected Mercenary and trainer who now walked up to the young leaders. ''Traveling by night is very dangerous, if you really want to do so, then not just a few lanterns will be enough.. There are more dangers than only the Cimmerians though of course they are the most dangerous'' he said. He then looked at Ashlinn. ''And you, I forbid to go along on this trike, I am not gonna bury another part of my family'' the man said.

Ashlinn's normally calm attitude and look in her eyes had already started to tense up when the man, her father, had walked in, and now he started to talk to her like she was a little kid, she clenched her hands to fists and narrowed her eyes. ''Is that how you call your abandoned daughter? 'Family'?'' Ashlinn asked and then for a second looked at Mike. She did a few steps back and then exited the tent, directly followed by George. ''Ashlinn Maria von Strong, wait'' George said and Ashlinn stopped, turned around and walked up to him. ''If I was your family, then you wouldn't have cheated on My Mother and would have chosen for us when she gave you the chance.. But you are just like every other man and you don't think with your brain'' she said. She literally had spoken now more in two minutes than ever before and everyone that was still outside, could see that she was pretty angry. ''I am not your daughter, I am not your family and if I wanna do something, I do not need your permission'' she said. ''Yes you do, your mother pointed down that until you turn 25 you are under my care'' he said. ''But let's not make trouble right here..'' he said. ''Oh come on.. Trouble is your middle name.. The only thing you took care of is half of my DNA, which I will always deny and the fact that I grew up without a dad'' she said. ''You didn't even care for giving mom some extra money to live from.. She had to work her ass of just because you and your new bride were to greedy to help out'' she said. ''That is not how it went'' George said and sighed. Ashlinn and George stared at each other and both narrowed their eyes. ''You know that I might not be able to fight as well as you, but I know enough herbs and poison's to make you blind for the rest of your life'' she said with a very cold voice. George was shocked by this threat from his daughter but didn't show it.

''Dad?'' a younger boy asked, it was Fernando, Ashlinn's half brother. Today was the ending of his first year as Familiar as it was his 19th birthday. Ashlinn looked at Fernando, even though she hated her father for the fact he left her mother and her without ever looking back, she somehow couldn't hater Fernando. ''Yes boy?'' George asked. ''We were here for a meeting.. Not to get Ashlinn upset'' he said. ''True son, but she wanted to go on a very dangerous mission'' George said. ''As she said, it isn't your business dad, she is 21.. And regardless of what Miss Maria had said or put down.. You can't expect her to listen to you if you never was there for her'' Fernando said, he was only 19 years old but he knew very well how other people worked.

Silver, Fernando's vein, laid down next to Snow. They pressed their noses against each other and then Snow climbed over Silver. The two veins, regardless of being cat and dog, were like best friends. ''Thank you Fernando'' Ashlinn said and then walked off, heading to her house, she stopped by her half brother. ''And, happy birthday'' she said and then continued walked, she whistled and Snow flew up and followed her mistress home.

Despite her interjection, it seemed that neither Eliot nor Ashlinn heard Liara as she approached. There was so much going on at that moment as everyone scrambled to get to the meeting.

She let out a soft sigh and looked to Arlan. "Well my friend, do you suppose we have one more fight in us?", she smiled warmly, her voice was soft and comforting as she ruffled the fur between his ears. Arlan was getting old, and she knew it. She wasn't fully aware of just how deep the bond between them ran, and had no clue how old dire bears lived. But there was a tingling deep inside her heart, one that worried her. She tried to push aside the worry with a reassuring smile, then turned and started towards the tent where the meeting would be held.

She found herself a spot near a few other Mercenaries, but kept more towards the rear of the group. The girl was a mess. The formation of her braid was nearly unnoticeable through the fray of lovely black locks which fell out aimlessly. She still had smudges of dirt all over her face and hands, and even a trace or two of lunch marked the sides of her mouth. She lifted an arm up to make sure her stench wouldn't clear the tent. Her nose wrinkled as she cursed herself, swearing to bathe after this was all done. Despite it all, she probably didn't smell any worse than any others around her, especially since most had spent the day in the training yard anyway.

The spot Liara found was vacant enough that Arlan was able to nestle down at her feet. The chair was rickety and creaked as she sat, but it was in perfect view of the lead speakers of the Circle. So many were gathered, she smiled to see them all. It comforted her to see so many, from all different calls of life, actually together for the same cause. It's what fueled her hope of their victory. "We're not alone in this", she muttered to herself.

She listened intently as one spoke after the other, and then Edith was introduced. Her gaze was always a hopeful one, though she feared the worst when they spoke about traveling at night and the dangers. She kept quiet as an argument erupted between a Practitioner and her father. It caused her to look down at Arlan as she reminisced about her uncle. Oh how she longed to see him again, mostly to apologize for her last words to him that day before she departed for her walk in the woods. Her face betrayed none of these emotions, until Ashlinn had mentioned abadonment. Her jaw twitched and her lips twisted forcefully into a neutral position. She kept in her seat as the argument moved outside the tent, hoping for the meeting to continue on, uninterrupted by the family squabble.

Mike sighed and he followed Ashlinn but he stop by her father and told him "You ... need to learn to understand your children feeling better sir, Because stuff like this will always happen. I lost both my parents at a young age but you are still part of her life. SO you better get your ass in gear". He then ran off following Ashlinn to her house and knocked on her door saying "Hey Ashlinn, can you let me in? I just want to sit and talk with you?"

Ashinn's father looked at Mike with a raised eye brow. ''This is family business young lad, not your business I would say'' he said. Fernando sighed. ''It's okay Mike, I'll bring him home.. Could you try to check on Ashlinn.. We all know she isn't much of a talker but maybe that Snow can help you..'' he said and then took his father back home.

Ashlinn sat at home and had made some light for herself and just sat on her small couch. She didn't own much, just a little house most near the forest with a separated bedroom, which she btw mostly used to make her potions and ointments, a small kitchen attached to her living room and a small bathroom. She mostly slept on the couch and that you could see as a pillow and blanket laid on it. It wasn't very comforting and she knew that if she would marry, the elders would give her a bigger house which meant more room for herself and Snow. But she wasn't really interested in much people around her. Of course she knew that Mike, the merc with the dragon vein, had a crush on her. But, she didn't know..

As if she was thinking of the devil, Mike knocked on her door and asked if she could open the door for him. She sighed and then got up. She walked over to the door and opened it for him. ''Hi..'' she whispered, this was kind of the first time she started a conversation with him. ''Come in...'' she then said, knowing he wouldn't go away so easily. Snow meowed and jumped from the couch and walked to the kitchen, there she had another pillow and she would lay down on that one, always did on the rare moments Ashlinn had a visitor.

Mike smiled at her as she let him in as Draco flew off his shoulder to Snow and waved to her. "Sorry for dropping in on you unannounced her Ashinn but I was really worried about you after what happen in the middle of the square" Mike said to her as he offered to make her a cup of tea or something small. Mike did have a crush on her but at the same time he knew the right thing to do would be to sit with her and chat with her to help her know that she always had him if she wanted to talk to someone.

Draco was still waiting for Snow to say hello back though he looked around the small kitchen, it was not that much bigger then the kitchen at home with Mike.
