The surgery didn't take as long as suspected......thank goodness. Dr. Brenant was in one of his moods, and currently Sky taking the brunt of his snappy comments and orders. This was a regular occurrence; the doctor often became like this after a rough day of work. Sky had gotten used to it and made sure to read lightly around her employer.

After the surgery was over and the tumor was removed from their patient's side, it was by then lunch break.
Removing her scrubs, Sky walked out into the waiting room. There was only one person with her cat.......so it was a slow day.

Shaking her head she turned to the receptionist, "I'm headed to the cafe for a coffee and snack;you want anything?"

The older woman looked up, then smiled and shook her head. She was currently on the phone with a rather concerned citizen with a sick herd of cattle.......an out of town call.

Sky nodded, then going outside she jumped into her truck and drove to the town's nearby cafe. She fixed her braid, then stepped out onto the pavement. Going inside she went to the counter, and ordered a quick coffee along with a sandwich......and a donut.

While waiting on her order, she leaned against the counter and gazed around the room.
When her eyes rested on a nearby table she blinked. Were those two of the girls from the camp site this morning?

Even if it wasn't the longest drive, it felt like the longest trip Kaden had ever taken. Always one to talk or hit on any girl nearby. But this time, everything was different. For the entire ride back he remained silent. His stare focused forward. Sometimes he noticed strange things. Could he hear better? Sometimes he smelled things he'd never caught on to before. But, Kaden shrugged it off thinking he was just acting crazy. As they went, people got off. Going to different places. He didn't say goodbye when he left. A simple wave and he was on his way back home.

When he stepped onto the front lawn of his house, nothing seemed to have changed. Same small white house with chipped paint. Broken steps on the back porch. Rotting doors to the basement. Untrimmed high grass, and patches of dead grass. Everything was a mess. Home sweet home. Kaden stepped through the front door and found beers and alcohol still uncleaned. He sighed before yelling. "Hey Dad, when the fuck were you planning on cleaning all this shit up?" Silence until heavy footsteps came into the kitchen.

Kaden was his father's son. Except there still seemed to be an innocence about him. Promise of a better life that had all but vanished from his grizzled dad. Harrison Reid. A once great treasure of Red Lake until he injured his knee, lost his scholarship and became an embittered man. "What did you just say to me?" Trying to act threatening, but Kaden was in the mood for a fight. He stood tall and didn't back down from his father.

"You heard me. This is your fucking mess, so clean it up."

"And where were you two nights ago? Drinking and doing drugs I bet."

"At least I wasn't drinking by myself."

"You piece of shit!" Harrison smacked Kaden across the jaw. Grabbing him by the shirt collar and shoving him against the wall. "Punk like you can't talk to me like that."

"What are you gonna' do about it?"

Harrison raised his fist up to hit his son again. But this time Kaden felt this strange sensation. The punch looked a lot slower than usual. Kaden dodged it and Harrison screamed in pain as he hit the hard wall. "Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! Get out! Get out of my house now!" He shook his fist and shouted. Kaden could take a hint, but this was new. He had to find someone to talk about this with. Everyone was pretending like everything was normal.

The door swung open and Kaden went sprinting down the road. Phone in hand, texting Riley.

'Yo, where the hell is everyone at?'

Kade smiled while she giggled when he mentioned his grandmother, it was no lie, she would knowing that woman. he seemed relaxed, but he was still tense, as if waiting for something to go down, could be the trauma of what happened to him or like with anyone that came back from deployment, they were on edge, either way worked. when she mentioned pie. "oh, trying to bribe me huh?" he asked. "which is completely okay, i will welcome a can of soup at this point, as long as its not government issued" grinning back at her.

at the mention of a project he arched a brow. "oh?" a little weary before hearing her, and he could see her being a fashion designer, and he nodded. "okay" letting her continue explaining, and really the home cooked meal made the decision, but he didnt want to appear or come off cheap so he didnt show his interest til he heard the rest. "oh, you want me to help make you a studio room" nodding. "yea, i can do that" looking to Sarah and her daughter, when they were invited as well. at the mention of hearing the phone that had stopped ringing now, missed call or it was picked up by someone else, Kade laughed. "no, no special hearing plugs, trust me, you dont want to hear better with machine guns going off all around you, its hard to concentrate normally"

''Bribe you?'' Vanessa asked with a very innocent voice, laying her hand on her cheek. ''I wouldn't dare sir.'' She looked at him with a open, fake surprised face and then giggled again. ''ha, see? Even if I would bribe you, your okay with it as long its with food'' she said and grinned. She giggled and smiled when he said that he could help her make a studio. ''Thank you!'' she said with a smile, leaning over and maybe a little to enthusiastic, giving him a kiss on his cheek.

She leaned back, a little surprised herself too, and looked at him. ''Ehm.. Sorry, that was really... inappropriate'' she said and looked down. Then she looked at Sarah with a smile. ''Hey, I am gonna leave you here with your daughter and see if I can find a good paint shop nearby, just in case your parents don't have the colors I wanna have and after that I am gonna prepare dinner.. any things we dislike?'' she asked and looked now at all of them for a second.

Krista:

Krista leaned slightly forward listening to her friend when she mentioned she liked her since she was twelve Krista blushed deeply, and smiled at Cassandra. "Well now that you know that I like you as well it makes things a lot better." Krista said with a soft smile and then turned her head when she saw the door to the café opening and spotted Sky from earlier ordering something from the front counter. "Hey it's Sky from earlier." Krista said pointing over towards her.

Riley & Sarah:

Riley turned her head when she heard the phone going off as well, apparently both her mother and Vanessa didn't even hear it as well. "I actually heard it as well." Riley said and then heard the phone being picked up, and she quickly started to pick up a very muffled version of her father's voice and then the phone call ended. Riley watched as her father getting out of the front door and heading over towards his car as he pulled out of the driveway he stopped the car near Riley, Vanessa and Kade. "I have to go to a meeting at the bank, shouldn't take long i'll be back by tonight." Sarah turned around and hugged her husband and kissed him. "Alright i'll see you tonight, and don't worry about dinner tonight either, we will be at Vanessa's tonight." She told him.

He looked at Vanessa and smiled at her. "Really good to see you again, i'll see you later." He looked towards Kade and then nodded towards him and started to drive away. Sarah turned to look over at her friend and smiled at her and nodded. "Just text me, and we can swing by and help you out with dinner if you want." Sarah told her and then gave Vanessa a hug and whispered into her friend's ear. "Ask him out, you had a crush on him for like ever." She said and looked over at Riley who was looking down at her phone texting one of her friends.

"I'm at my place right now, Krista and Cassie are at the café i'm not sure where the rest of the others are at whats up?" Riley texted back to Kade.

Kade smirked when she tried pulling the whole innocent trick on him, even the hand to the cheek. "yea, sure you wouldnt" seeing that so fake open mouth suprise, he couldnt help but laugh when she caught him. "your right of course, it would be alright as long as it was food" he agreed, shaking his head when she giggled, something she did all the time back in school, though he nodded. "your welcome" arching a brow when she kissed him, nothing major, just on the cheek but he wasnt expecting it.

"no, its okay. first time in a long time i was kissed by a woman and not a randy camel or something, its fine" smiling to show it was, in fact fine. he turned then, and looked down at Riley when she said she could hear it too. "you heard the phone?" he asked her, staring down at her, his eyes questioning, curious even as to how that was possible.. though he didnt get a chance to think much more on it, as soon Sarahs husband came out of the B&B and pulled out. when he gave the nod to Kade, it was returned in kind. "i'll meet at your house then Vanessa, i got to get settled.. and i got no dislikes when it comes to food" nodding. "it was nice to meet you again Sarah, i'll be seeing you around, and you Riley" watching her again. "keep out of trouble, if you can manage it" straightening from where he'd been leaning against Vanessa's truck. "you can show me some places tonight, where you'd like your studio, what or how you want it to look.. all that" having heard Sarah whisper what she did, he cleared his throat. "bye for now" and he headed toward his still running Motorcycle.

Seeing the first girl, whom she recognized as Krista, point at her, Sky smiled politely and nodded before stepping closer to them, "Small town.....how you guys doing?"

She wanted to ask about the wolf again, but being in public with such a delicate topic was risky. Instead she just implied; tilting her head to one side as she kept one eye out for her order.

It came after a moment, and keeping her attention on the others she paid the bill. Moving over to them she remained standing, "The others still seem to be okay?"

She was concerned for them, which was a first as she never really had the chance to care for a friend or someone outside of her family. It made her feel funny.....happy almost.

Cassandra smiled and nodded, before following krista's gaze to the door, and Sky. Cassandra recognized her from before, from earlier back at the camp site. After the wolf attacks. Cassandra gave sky a smile, and said "we are good. The others seem okay too" at least Cassandra hoped they were. They had all seemed okay, when they were all saying goodbye back at the tv, when they arrived back home

Vanessa smiled and nodded. ''You know where it is, I guess'' she said and then looked at Sarah and Riley. When Sarah had bend towards Vanessa and had whispered in her ear to ask him out she looked at Sarah, a little shocked but also her cheeks turning bright red. ''Sarah.. I would like to get that recipe for your husbands famous pancakes'' she said and nodded towards the B&B. She then turned to Kade and smiled. ''I'll show you my idea's, I kinda drew it on paper'' she said with a last soft smile and then walked all limping towards the B&B.

Lucky for her, it was close by and so when she sat on the front porch and Kade had left, she looked again at Sarah. ''You.Are.Crazy'' she said but laughed. ''He totally heard what you said and now I am a total fool!'' she said and raised a brow at her best friend. ''I know, I know, you mean it well but we both are just back in town and who says he didn't meet someone in his time by the marine. Women can also be on the marine'' she said. ''So.. No, I am not gonna ask him out, not at all.. He never liked playing soccer with me back in the 'old days' '' She said and shook her head. ''Anyways.. Back to business... I would really like it if I can have it so I'm able to use that recipe for tonight'' she said.

Kade had pulled off, but one good thing about living in a small town, you knew all the ways to take to circle around and it wouldnt be long before those on the porch of the B&B would hear the roar of his bike as he came back down the road, stopping right in the middle and turned toward the B&B "your not a total fool" he called up. "this saturday night, you and me.. we'll go out Vanessa" revving the bike as he smiled. "and the only reason i didnt like Soccer is cause every time we played, you dominated" smiling, clearly it was going to be a shock to them all that he'd heard, after he'd pulled off, but most would just think he'd stopped and listened in an ally or side street. he winked, revving the engine as he peeled out as he shot down the road now, leaving her unable til that night when they went to her house to tell him if she didnt want to go on a date or not. he headed down the road, grinning as he headed toward his home.

Vanessa was.... Shocked when he re-appeared from around the corner and first told her she wasn't a fool, then practically told her they would go on a date and then give her the reason why he never liked soccer with her. She nodded and didn't know what to say, though she also had not time to speak cause he was gone even before she could open her mouth. Now she had to wait till tonight to answer him and she looked at Sarah.

''Help?'' she said and kinda nervously laughed but then got up, kinda forgetting her feet and feeling it again when she stood. ''Ehm, I'll grab that recipe later.. I need to do some cleaning and then cooking'' she said and smiled. She 'walked' back to her car and climbed in, she started the engine and waved. She then drove to her own house and parked, lucky her she still had a crutch laying in her car so she grabbed it and used it to walk properly to her house and there it started. Being limp on one side wasn't helping but she cleaned up the work stuff as good as she could, even though it took her a little longer.

When she was done with the cleaning, she got everything around for a proper meal. She would make some soup and then baked potatoes with a fresh salad and pork chops and as desert ice cream with self made chocolate sauce. She looked in her cabinets and saw she only needed the chocolate. She texted Sarah: 'Hey, Can you check if you have one pure and two milk chocolate bars? I need them but can't go to the grocery store right now.. If you sent Riley I'll pay you back' Kiss and hug V

Krista:

Krista looked between Sky and Cassandra for a moment when she came over and asked how they were all doing, thinking for a moment she still wasn't sure what to even say about the wolf attack from earlier. "Their doing well I guess, looking around for a moment before saying quietly. "Just that it was really weird for a wolf to even act like the way that it did." Then their food came over and Krista reached for her plate and motioned for Sky to sit. "Join us theres room for two." Krista said, and then remembered that Sky worked at the vet. "What do you know about wolves, just curious?"

Sarah & Riley:

Sarah was about to help Vanessa back into her car, and then looked at her friend when she asked for her husband's pancake recipe, knowing that she really did like them. "Of course Vanessa I can give you his recipe for you, just don't give it to anyone only the family knows it." Sarah said with a wink, and watched as Kade drove off on his motorcycle thinking that he had already left but then she heard him driving back hearing him yelling towards Vanessa about a date on Saturday which she smiled. "I'll help you out with your date then." Sarah said, and watched as Riley was heading back towards the house. "We will see you later tonight." Sarah said watching Vanessa getting into her truck and then driving off.

As Sarah got into the kitchen, she felt her phone vibrate and it was Vanessa going over what she asked she took the moment to look through the cabinets and couldn't find the chocolate Vanessa was asking for. "Riley! Could you go down towards Lamb's Market and get some pure chocolate and milk chocolate for Vanessa?" Sarah called out.

Riley was sitting in the dining room, and winced slightly when she heard her mother yelling across the room still it was really weird to hear things much louder then they should have been. "Yeah sure thing!" Riley said as she got up and headed out the front door, she got onto her bike with the new purse under her arm as she pedaled off towards the other end of town. Riley headed over towards the isle she knew that had it and grabbed the two things of chocolate and went to pay for it.

A few minutes later Riley was already at Vanessa's front door and knocked on it.

Sky nodded to Krista's response, but when the girl offered her a seat she glanced to her coffee and donut. She would have time to eat....the clinic was slow today so there was no risk of missing any action.

Taking the seat Sky thought for a moment, then shrugged with a sigh before taking a sip of her coffee, "Well......typically wolves aren't too keen on attacking people.....and I've never heard of a wolf just randomly biting a group of campers and then running off without further damage......"

She glanced to the other girls, noting once again that they had no wounds or marks whatsoever.

"Rabies of course can be a concern....."

But if they were to go to a hospital for testing and treatment, they would have to explain the absence of physical damage........

It was all very confusing, and Sky nodded, "I'd like to go out and look around the campground when I have the chance...but it wont be any time soon....."

She came across an idea however. If she were to sneak a rabies test from the clinic to one of the victims.....that could be a good way to figure out what happened.

She glanced at Krista and bit into her donut. She couldnt imagine the confusion and worry going through the other girl's head.

Casssandra fell thoughtful as both Krista and Sky spoke of wolves. She sipped her drink, thinking. "Most wolves have a specific behaviour, or a tell in their mood-usually it's their ears, or snout, their tail and body. This wolf...Somehow, it seemed a combination of a lot of different wolf moods" She said softly, glancing at the other two.

"Do...Do you think something happened to this wolf? Someone hurt it, maybe?" She asked thoughtfully "It seemed...well...most animals when they attack, they go for killing blows...really, everything that wolf did...it didn't kill any of us, or try to..." She forgot for a moment that sky hadn't been there, engrossed in her thoughts, and in getting them out, for a critique.

Kade drove down the roads, taking the turns that would put him on the gravel road that lead to his grandmothers house. the black and chrome Suzuki came around, taking the last turn on the gravel road, his back tire flinging gravel as he turned, that he had to slow down. thinking of his grandmother dead had caused him to tighten his grip, which caused the throttle to opened up more. when he came around the last bend, the the roof of the house could be seen, he slowed. there it was.. home. beige bricks with black shingles and red and white trim. it was more cottage looking then house, with its corner porch and the homely feel.
he stopped in the drive. the yard held the same lawn statues, the old fake well house, and the bird baths. the lawn was in need of a mow and a good weed eating around the house, but it was still the same.. same sights, smells, sounds, which since it was tucked in a small secluded area, there wasnt nosey neighbors.

shutting the motorcycle off, and the kickstand down he climbed off, taking a second to unhook his duffel, which he tossed onto his shoulder, he walked up to the house, and couldnt help the flash backs of him and his grandmother. walking up onto the porch, he reaching into his pocket for the keys, and sliding the key in the door then the deadbolt, the door was open and he stepped inside and for the first time there wouldnt be a greeting waiting for him or a warning about bringing anything covered in mud into her house or she'd tan his hide. just remembering it, he smiled and laughed, closing the door behind him, he sat his duffel against the stairs and began getting the house going again.

Vanessa was a bit surprised when she heard her doorbell so fast and called: ''Door is Open Riley!''. Once Riley was inside and laid the chocolate bars on the counter Vanessa smiled and looked at her. ''Thank you so much'' she said and took her wallet and gave her five dollars. ''I guess this is enough'' she said and then gave another five. ''And that, is for the effort, and don't you dare to say no because I'll just put it in your pocket then'' she said with a little smile and winked. Then she turned around and went back to stir the vegetables into the soup she was making. It was a large pan that she was using but that way she knew for sure they all had enough. ''Wanna help?'' she asked Riley as she already had laid down the potato's, salad ingredients and the pork chops on the counter for cutting. She smiled and putted the last carrots into the soup and then let it slowly get boiling.

She moved over to the other side of the counter and started to cut the lettuce and put them in a bowl. ''Your mom said you went camping with some friends, how was it?'' she asked and smiled at Riley.

"Alright." Kaden shot out a fast text back to Riley. He figured the cafe was only slightly closer to his house so he'd hit up that spot first. "It just concerns the night we had last night and all that happened. I'm sure we'll talk later. Heading over to the cafe to talk with Krista and Cass. Something strange is happening." He finished off the text message and gunned it down the street, sprinting hard. Harder than usual. It was slightly noticeable, but he felt he had never felt the wind cut against him quite like this even in his hardest sprint on the football field. Wasn't long before he saw the sign for the cafe coming up to meet him. He had to slow down so he didn't slam into a car parked on the street. Right as he was about to enter, he noticed he wasn't too winded. Still breathing heavier than in a resting state, but he was catching his wind much faster.

When he flung the door open, he saw Krista and Cass. But also Sky, whom he didn't quite trust with what he wanted to talk about. Kaden walked over to them. "Hey Cass, Krista." Untrusting eyes aid upon Sky before looking back at his friends. "You mind if we talk about last night? Just us three…"

Riley Stark:

Riley smiled at Vanessa as she handed her ten dollars though she didn't really want to take it from her family friend and knew that Vanessa was very stubborn. "Thank you." Riley said with a soft smile as she opened up her new bag and took her wallet out putting the ten bucks inside of her wallet and quickly puts it back into the purse that Vanessa gave her. "I really do love the bag you got me Vanessa." Riley said as she sets it down on the stool near the table. Riley felt her phone going off and opened it up for a second seeing that it was Kaden, it did seem to be really weird with what had happened the night before with the wolf and knew there were a lot of weird changes. She even could hear the phone going off back at her house when she was outside and easily heard the conversation that went on between her father and one of the bankers.

"I do have to agree, but i'll text you later come to my place tonight if you want." Riley texted back before turning her phone off her attention going back to Vanessa looking up at her and smiled. "Yep we did, but we had to cut our trip really short because we could see wolves near the campsite last night." Riley said softly she didn't want to reveal to much with what happened. "So what do you want me to do?" Riley asked looking up at Vanessa and smiled at her.

Krista Chambers:

Krista looked at Sky as she explained about wolves, she had the thought of the possibility that the wolf that attacked them all could have been rabid. However she didn't even see the wolf foaming at the mouth however it was really aggressive from what had happened the night before with the wolf. "It could have been, but I really don't know if it was rabid or not I mean yes it was aggressive." Krista stopped for a moment looking back at Cassandra, she had a feeling she could trust Sky and she did work with the vet clinic and knew about animals way more then she ever could before she continued. "It did bite us last night, but when we came to there wasn't even a scratch.." Krista said softly and then she heard the door open and saw that it was Kaden.

"Hey Kaden." Krista said with a smile, and when he asked if he could speak with the two of them alone she looked over at Sky and then over at Cassandra. "I uh kind of told Sky what happened last night, shes a vet and knows more about animals then we do." Krista said and motioned for him to take a seat.

Cassie looked up when Kaden entered, asking to talk with them. She wasn't too sure telling Sky was a good idea, but she decided to trust Krista. "Is something wrong, besides the whole wolf thing?" She asked. Kaden seemed...a little freaked out. Which was understandable, considering everything that had happened, but still...She herself seemed to have accepted it, and now was more curious about the puzzle of what had happened, of how they had no scratches on them.

Sky had frowned when Krista explained that even though the wolf had bitten them, there were no visible wounds. It was odd, to say the very least.
She was about to reply, then a vaguely familiar young man entered the cafe. He seemed tense.......almost concerned about something. When he approached the table they sat at Sky recognized him as one of the kids from the camp.

It was then that he stated he needed to talk with Krista and Cassie......alone.

Shoulders scrunching up Sky saw the untrusting look on his face. He had cast it towards her ever so slightly, but she caught it. She was an outsider to their little group......and she assumed that what happened the night before, was something some of them didn't wish to share with outsiders.

Looking down at her coffee cup Sky bit her lip, and inhaling slightly shook her head. Krista had assured the boy that she could stay, but she didn't want to intrude on their matters any more than they were comfortable with. The wolf attack was frightening and confusing. It was only polite to respect their wishes to keep things under wraps.

Clenching one fist Sky cleared her throat, "I'm alright Krista......But I should really get back to my shift."

It was a quick lie to excuse herself. The clinic was quiet today and she hadn't received a warning text from the other staff for her assistance. She'd probably go back and check up on some of the patients......maybe take a few for a walk.

Tilting her head Sky nodded her thank you to Krista and Cassie, "I hope you guys figure out what happened.......thank you for the chat."

She then attempted to slide out of the cafe seat and head for the door.
