Agreed. Upward mobility gives us somewhere to go. As a prince there will be Damsels to save, or backs to stab, Whatever it takes to make us king.

I'd rather do that, start as a young prince, and make our way upwards.

Murder our parents for the throne? Oh, yes please.

I suppose specifics such as "prince" or "princess" can certainly be elaborated on as we go. Glad we all have sort of agreement/preference towards this station though xD

Okay so so far we are a non-magical human Prince/Princess. I think for now we do basic world building. What kind of environment is the kingdom? I opt for a more traditional medieval setting like forest and hills with some plain land with maybe some other varied terrains scattered about. Any other specific thoughts?

'Fantasy Europe' the basis of all uninspired fantasy worlds, (who crib from the inspirational Tolkien) would be fine. A mostly agrarian society, interspersed with cities would be fine. I'm personally a fan of having the kingdom close to or with access to the ocean. Maybe it's a Mediterranean ocean type deal, with the water surrounded by other landmasses? That way we could have a convenient excuse for wacky foreigners, they just came off the boat.

If all else fails, I have a good website or two for generating completely random maps of varying size [they are quite...large] http://donjon.bin.sh/fantasy/world/

Mediterranean-esque kingdom, foothills and plains with varying biomes as we extend from home? Sounds good to me though.

Any limit on creatures or magic? As in how outlandish is can be.

Magic should be grounded I think. As in, a powerful mage could shoot a ball of fire or levitate a boulder, but not part the sea or destroy a mountain. As for creatures I have no opinion.

Creatures? Standard fare, maybe a few of the weirder D&D esque ones if we need some spunk. Don't want to get too complicated, y'know. Ogres, trolls, elv-...*cough*...-...Goblins, etc.

I think we should probably go the route that magical creatures aren't something an average person would see. Rare enough to make them something special, but not so much that we're making them go extinct if we kill one.

B-beholders. We're dead if we see one. Er, it sees us..

Rarity but not total extinction is good to me

That'll make it all the more special when we craft a chariot driven by twelve beholders. (Jokes! (For now...))

Who's starting? I think we should have a turn progression for at least one cycle, and once everyone has gone, we can open it up again.
Does the most excellent Cuddle Pot wish to have the honors? It would make sense if he was the first one, since we could get a sense for the writing style.
How do we feel about romances? We would have to create an NPC to romance with, and their behavior would change each turn change. Not to mention that people have different opinions on romance. (I'm always touched when someone brings their lover the heads of their old partners, but that's just me.)

Corollary: How does everyone feel about making dramatic overarching changes to the world? Say, during someones turn, they create a rival kingdom, which invades us? That would totally spin the plot into a new direction. We're starting with a very basic world, which is giving us a lot of possibility to make it unique. How unique should we be allowed to make it? Would ret-cons be a possibility?

I don't think we are ready for IC just yet. But when the time comes I would be happy to take the first post as long as no one objects.

Romance sounds okay but let's take that sort of thing fairly slow so everyone can get there own feel for the character and how they want to react to them when it's there turn.

As for dramatic changes. Absolutely! However let's have only one huge thing going at a time. Like for instance one post we can't have a enemy kingdom invade and the next a massive meteor is careening towards the palace!

Also I think we can start developing the character. First male or female?

Same. But how about a prettyboy prince, who everyone mistakes as a girl?

I'm neutral either way, I enjoy Rping as a woman, though they tend to be action girls. Roleplaying as a dude is also pretty easy, because I have intimate knowledge on how to Rp as one.
Prettyboy princes are icky, so if we were a man, I put my vote in for a non-prettyboy man. If we're a woman, I'm down.

Damn looks like I'm tiebreaker. I vote for male mostly because it seems everyone has some experience role-playing as one. As for appearance I think we should leave it ambiguous so everyone can have their own image of the character. Thoughts on this?
