I get really annoyed when OOCs get swarmed with random chatter and it clutters things.

Depends on the context, Gowi summed it up well.

I also really hate it when people make dick characters that seem to be solely made for the sake of being a smart ass douche.

This we can definitely agree on. The nihilist-wannabe character who's too cool/dark to care about anything also applies.

What also is a little annoying is why is this character even on a team in the first place? Their personality just doesn't fit the idea of working together with others.

These type of people also tend to be incessant godmoders and powerplayers. They often want to triumph above all others on the roster, and I've seen quite a few powerplay their characters to the top before the GM interfered. And, worst of all, I feel for the GM who has to deal with it. Having been in that situation before (both in RPs where I watched it play out, and RPs where I was the GM), its hard to get through to these people that their character isn't fitting the bill. They'll fight you on it, but instead of logically dropping out of the RP, they want to justify to you that their character belongs, even when it really doesn't. They also try so hard to say "I'm not a godmoder/powerplayer" when all prior evidence contradicts it...

in my opinion, the problem is that some players can't understand that some characters don't work for roleplays do to their personality or power set. Unlike stories that may feature the character, roleplays require cooperation and the world isn't built to fit the character unlike a novel or short story and that is why dick characters seem to usually fail. What I would say to people is that if they want to make a dick character then make them plausible in the roleplay's story and also give a good reason why they're even with the other characters.

My second complaint about the Guild is how touchy people can get and that just seems a little ridiculous to me since this is the internet and I've seen far worse on YouTube and Facebook compared to the Guild.

Related to the above, when someone submits a character that seems normal, if a bit quirky, and then turns out to be a psychopath and kills another players character with his consent. Then when the GM changed it to a attempted murder and he's brought to a trial for it the character denies responsibility for his actions.

I believe there's a fine line between discussing things you like and having a few short conversations, and then using it like an IM message board where people post in it within minutes of each other.

I'm all for having conversations in the OOC that I'm in, but people do need to find important info sometimes and 5 pages generated within 24hrs doesn't help.

Sort of a related subject:

When a game progresses so rapidly that you get left behind because you can only check it once a day.
As much as people bitch about others never posting, can we also acknowledge how bullshit it is to have to read 3+ pages of IC back-and-forth because you spent a day at the zoo instead of glued to your laptop?

I actually got killed in the first GM I played, (It was a really shitty game, actually. The GM didn't really know what he was doing, nobody else would join, and I kept Godmodding, and he wouldn't stop me. Aah, good times.) because there was a chain of me and the GM rapid posting after another, and then me leaving for a few hours. When I got back, the GM had gotten bored and frustrated since we were in a tense scene, so he flat out killed my character.

There's no real way around it in forum based RPs. You can try and force turn-order on people, but that will restrict the natural flow of the game.

Now, one of my biggest pet peeves in GMing is when people act all entitled and self-important when submitting a sheet. Like the kind of people that act like you're supposed to let them in. Like, biiiiiitch, you're asking to come into my house, you gotta play by my rules, or get out. Most of these people are the type who argues with the GM over character changes (simple ones at that) rather than just going to edit the sheet. Doing this is a surefire way for me to say no.

Oh yeah, and people who submit "wip" sheets. You either give me the full sheet, or don't give it to me at all. From my experience most of the people that post a wip never finish the sheet at all.

@BelatedGamerWork In Progress. In this case, just posting the CS skeleton and saying you'll fill it in later.

Kind of bugs me too, but then I'd rather not post at all than post an unfinished work so yeah. ^^;

Work in progress. Basically an unfinished sheet.

Or you could send yourself a pm and draft it up in that as it'll allow the bb code. :)

I think people do it to try and reserve a spot so they don't miss out.

In response to @Mr Allen J, I have had people tell me my rp was wrong before and it does become a bit of a downer as it feels like a kick in the teeth. :\

One pet peeve that I have (which thankfully have not yet appeared for the past few years...) is when a person intentionally steps in after a plotted moment and breaks everything that was planned/spoiling it. What the fuck. Can't I have some quality RPing? Why must you ruin a moment of mystery?

Yuuuuuuuuuup, I really hate when this happens - enough for me to bitch someone out for it. lol

I hate it when people insert themselves into current scenes. Which always feels forced, or something. I mean, I'm totally fine if they ask, or give you a bit of a heads up - like, "Yo, I got an idea, mind if I have my homeboy show up?". But, when you just have your character pop up in someone else's scene, unannounced, it really feels like you're intruding.

And I hate it.

This is why I usually dedicate a post to news and announcements.

I'm somewhat guilty of doing the "posting WIP sheet" but I do make it a point to complete my CS asap. (Even if it's incomplete I don't just post the skeleton template - I try to fill in at least half of the sections before the horrible free wifi kicks the bucket, or my laptop battery dies on me.)

Lemme go a bit beyond the "When people leave without saying anything" complaint;

What really annoys me is when people leave, you ask them if they're coming back, and they still ignore you. Luckily almost everyone will respond if I PM them about it, but you do get that occasional person who just refuses to say anything on the matter.

What's worse is someone that says that they'll come back, but never does, so you have to wait again and again.

@Prisk As far as I see it, there's no such thing as "have to wait". There comes a point where they either post or they get left behind so that the RP can survive.
