well, most probably, once we get going it will slow down a bit. the whole Karasu x Mitsurugi bit couldve been done in a colab. and rather than hours, i think we should move on to days or half days. its nice to get everyone on the same time zone, but especially with this many people, we need to let the players advance through the day with their actions. No time skips until everyone has had a chance to post at least once and only if the day is over with. I mean, if i'm talking with chad during lunch and 5 hours go by when i had a meeting with the boss at 2, my efforts to catch back up at the end of the day could easily set me back another 5 hours, rp time. Or, if i colab with Johnny, we do a day's worth of activities but since it fit on one post, only an hour passed. While i like the idea of people posting when they feel like posting, youre gonna end up loosing all except those two people because they ran ahead without us. Ambiguity is perfect, so long as everyone's on the same page.

<.< my two cents..... dunno why i wrote all that.

Well one thing I thought about last night before I went to sleep was that a Collab could have been done and was likely a better choice rather than bombarding the IC with several posts. However with that said that is where I feel people would need to be apart of the Skype group or something since throwing messages around there wont be as bad as here. So basically there we can chat and so on and leave the OOC for a little chatter here and there but mostly for more important things. The other benefit is that if lets say Me, Mr Snuggles and Miss Punches want to do a collab and someone else who isn't in the Skype group would want in (had they known) then of course they can't because we would have never known and that's not exactly fair as they're missing out on their chance to Roleplay. However with that said I know not everyone has Skype nor would want to join, I'm just saying it would be beneficial to, however I don't see anything wrong with us posting here in the OOC we are planning a Collab and wanted to know if anyone wanted in. That sort of thing

Also I honestly believe it was just the hype of posting that lead to so many posts right off the bat, I think people were itching to get stuck into this...but that will calm down.

As for the time thing I am open to suggestions...the only other thing I can think about is placing a date/day and when it is AM or PM. So no specific times of course. Cause as it is if I change the time to 06:00 AM and some people will end up waiting till the ideal time before posting and if I skip to 09:00 AM then they may have just missed work xD I don't know...I'd rather bounce around the half days where people are generally on the same side of the clock than restricting people so that they have to wait till a very specific time to post as their character and even then when it does change to that time who is to say they are going to be able to post? Don't know just throwing that out there...I'd like that sorted before anymore posts go up

As for the whole Free to Advanced topic. Honestly...I like to blow off sometimes and just write a load and post that up but to do that constantly? it'd be boring...I enjoy interaction but I like it to move at a fair pace and I don't always feel like writing a ton. If this were in free it'd move fast and with one liners and people who likely wont even follow the rules properly. Casual is that comfy medium where people respect the rules and post at a fair pace. However I don't want my preferences to push another Roleplayer out so I feel for the future if people are going to interact with one another that a collab is in everyone best interest...just make sure to Hider that xD One thing I have to note though is that many people seem to have different ideas of how casual should be which is fair...however I'm trying to look at this in a way where we can all get mostly what we want while compromising. Those who like to post faster should certainly assume the whole Collab thing. However those that can post once a day can likely just post in the IC as normal...

Honestly I'd like to talk this out nice and calmly and see if we can all reach some common ground so that the RP can cater to everyone's wants and needs...or at least most of them. The only time the collab idea may be broken is when...something like a large story event is happening but in truth I don't think those will ever involve everyone and it'd be a bad idea if they did. I only have a few concerns about collabs becoming common but they're nothing I don't think can be worked around...however this will bump up individual post length's but save page space as well as make it easier to follow.

Anyway...Suggestions? or anything?

Could we work in time blocks? For example, you could say "Alright, it's now 6 AM to 9 AM.", and everything that characters would do in that time can be done. It would prevent people taking off ahead and keep everyone somewhat together with time in case interaction occurs, but also allows a good amount of flex, keeps it fairly easy. The person who's getting up at 6 sharp - or is still awake, if they're a bit of a party animal - can do their thing, but the person who gets to work at 8 can roll with that.

Posts wouldn't be all that restricted that way either as far as interaction goes, especially when a collab is involved, and people wouldn't get too ahead either time-wise even with heavy interaction.

@vFear Well...there are 24 hours in a day so we could move it in blocks of 6? We know someone will get up at 6 in the morning while someone will be lazy and waking up at about 12 xD The other thing is that do I update the days by 6 hours every 12 hours or so? Allowing those who come on a bit later to probably be able to fit in a post within that time frame.

Regardless what were are onto here could work.

@Kurisa Sounds like a plan to me bruv. I think that'd work sensationally, considering what we have going on. c:

Alright.

Posted my first IC, adjusted a bit on my character beforehand, assigned a ward, and added a description of the place Liz is running. I figured it can't hurt to make it an official place in case anyone ever feels the need to take advantage of if.

As for the topic of time-blocks, post barrage and so forth...
I actually think
Also I honestly believe it was just the hype of posting that lead to so many posts right off the bat, I think people were itching to get stuck into this...but that will calm down.

Pretty nicely explains what is happening right now. I'd expect things to calm down, specifically when people start interacting. Writing long-ass posts to establish the character is not unheard of, and once you're actively interacting with others, that kind of length is just not realistic, so things will happen on a smaller size. That's just how it is. While I can absolutely feel NuttsnBolts (I woke up to 17 posts out of nowhere, after all) frustration with the current situation, I think it's temporary and shouldn't be overestimated. That's not meant as a criticism for NuttsnBolts though, if they feel uncomfortable with the situation it's their right to have an opinion and act accordingly, I'm just saying that -I- would personally wait and see.
Time blocks too will become less of a problem, I'd wager. Though to be brutally honest, I wouldn't really say that's a huge problem at any rate. Interaction doesn't have to be synchronized if the people are miles apart, does it? I mean it'd make sense to synchronize times for people in the same ward, to avoid overly awkward contradictions...but if someone somewhere -entirely- else RPs about a night-time event, then I don't see why it can't be day on the other end of the map. Those events don't necessarily have to happen at the exact same time, least not in my opinion. "Snap together" the timelines when people move towards interaction, done. Or maybe I'm completely misunderstanding the whole problem...which is possible.
If a solution was to be found, I'd vote for the "bouncing around half days" version. But that's based on my view that synch doesn't matter -that- much, so take it with a grain of salt.

As for the whole skype deal...don't take it personally, I'm sure you're all fine people and all, but I'm a bit antisocial when it comes to that. I prefer my skype "uncluttered", and only have like 10 or so close friends in there. If this here thing lives long enough to make skype-based collab-ing relevant for me, I'll probably give in at some point.

@TraitorJust to clarify the only thing we do on Skype is chat xD Just bicker with eachother and on the odd occasion talk about a situation or something but that's fine, it isn't for everyone which is understandable. I find it beneficial to just chat there rather than in the OOC as things could quickly get lost if done in the OOC. The collabs will likely be done here in PM's or something, they will likely end up being brought up in the Skype chat then mentioned in here to see if anyone who isn't on Skype is interested in order to be fair to everyone.

As for the time thing I'ma just wait till a few people give their opinions before deciding on anything

No offence taken!

If there was going to be a time slot system, then I'd have an AM/PM if anything. The only reason why people need to know about the time of day is for when they describe the sun and light, or the moon and shadows. Many other RPs run fine without a time feature and I know a few where almost 100 posts have passed and somehow it's still the same day. It's like a movie or TV series, some have long stories that can span across an entire day, but the audience isn't concerned about that as much as the "whodunit" scenarios.

Oblivion and FloodTalon are the only 2 that are within my vicinity of Ward 13 but it's just the wrapping my head around the rest that isn't helping. :\

@NuttsnBolts That is a good point. I mean I don't think we need to be very specific with times in our posts, however I just thought about the whole AM/PM thing and my only concern is people mixing the whole thing up with the day/night as AM/PM contain both really...if we did it in 12 hour blocks, one being from 06:00 AM to 05:59PM and the next from 06:00 PM to 05:59 AM we'd basically operate on a Day (Sun) and Night (Moon) sort of thing which means people will be pretty much commenting about the same time of day and thus no need for specific times which could mean less restrictions. However what I want to know is do I change the 12 hour blocks every 24 hours? that's another thing we need to work out...(Just to clarify: By restrictions I mean someone let's say posting their character doing something at 09:00 PM and then someone let's say posting their character at 07:00 PM with the first person wanting to meet the second person they'd then have to...travel back in time? xD I'd personally find it confusing to see someone posting in the future then posting back in time. I think it's much easier to just comment that it's a sunny day and go with that...may add weather as well)

Well various ghouls travel around the Wards, mine included so there is going to be some more people to interact with but also no one is restricted to a single ward. The main idea of the "Ward of Operation" is so we know the place your ghoul would likely spend most of their time.

On that note, I have a lore-related question. One I can't really remember from having watched the anime and read most of the manga quite a while back.
Is there any kind of "border control" in between wards? Anything to physically separate them from one another? Or is changing from one ward to another like crossing a street? I don't think either version really specified, and if they did I don't recall it at all. I do have sufficiently planned out crossing borders with either of these versions, but I'd still like to have that clarified to avoid awkwardness.

Well as far as I know there doesn't seem to be to much issue with passing through Wards. The only ones I'd say that have some form of border control are the ones controlled by some form of Organisation. So the ones that are Neutral are pretty straight forward to pass through

Okay, back. ^^

Anyway, I too have concerns with the time-lines and think that we should just do a day or night scenario where we don't really say what specific time it is just that it's day-time then one of the co-gm or the gm could switch to nighttime? I also wonder if it would be a good idea to modify the posting order slightly where you have to wait until 2-3 other people post before you can post again. I don't know, I just don't think 1x1's popping up will be good.

So for clarification we are using a time slot system? Sounds good to me and I would like to say that we all do mess around a little too much i the Skype jlchat so for now on I'll cut back on that a bit so I can focus on mostly plot, character interactions and character development
