I have been a fan of the recent Star Wars RPG system by Fantasy Flight Games. I primarily enjoy it because of its Narrative Dice Mechanic that moves away from the simple pass/fail paradigm to one that creates more and more narrative density with each roll. I recently came across a conversion of the game engine to place it into the Elder Scrolls universe. It is titled 'Edge of Tamriel' and I have all of the conversion documents.

So let me invite 4 brave souls to journey the wonderful land of Tamriel. Partaking in adventure, intrigue, and mystery! Our setting is the Provence of Skyrim in the year 200 of the 4th era. You are summoned to the north by a mysterious client who offers great wealth in exchange for the discovery and retrieval of a long forgotten substance.

I have been thinking of setting up this kind of game for some time now and looking forward to ruining it with you fine folks. The conversions rules are no longer locatable on the web. But I have them saved locally and will be setting up a Mega Share space to those who are interested.

Let me know if this game idea sparks your interest.

Sounds cool to me. I haven't used the new Star Wars system, but I can check it out and get the basics down. I love the idea of anything ES themed though, especially if there are actual mechanics to it. Consider me intrigued.

I have collected the 'Edge of Tamriel' documents on my mega drive:

mega.nz/#F!2FFzlABJ!kNvpBijcPLJE558G4a..

For those who are interested please go ahead and start making your character concepts. Use the rules to make a starting character, no extra XP, and please god no Lycanthropes or Vampires to start. Seeing how Elder Scrolls is a single player experience, I want to try and have a balanced party (the fighter, talker, healer, thief), though even if characters are only moderately specialised in each.

I am going to wait until I get one or two more player before migrating into a game. But do not be afraid to post your character concept so the group can balance itself.

[edit]

Here is a quick article on the dice system we will use. Just note that I am now going to post any FFG materials as I do not have permission.

The basic bones of my character:

Angelique De Mersot - Breton Mage

90xp
STR END AGI INt Wits Pers
2 (+20xp) 2 2 (+20xp) 3 4 (+40xp) 2

Archtype Mage: Destruction, Conjuration, Alteration and Enchanting
Core Skills: Cool, Vigilance, Rumors, Search, Mysticism, Knowledge (Daedra)

Free rank in Destruction
+1 Rank Conjuration (5xp)
+1 Rank Cool (5xp)

Angelique is a young Breton from the Kingdom of Daggerfall. She hails from a middle craft artisan family of no particular note. Like many Breton’s Angelique was magically gifted, unfortunately her family could in no way afford the tutors and guild dues that would have allowed her to develop them. Instead they decided to marry her off to one of the local minor nobility. She was a beautiful girl and the marriage was considered quite a coup for the family.

Angelique was heartbroken, her dream to study magic seemed dashed but as she brooded upon her fate she hit upon an idea. Sneaking into her fathers strong room by night she stole her dowry of several thousand septims, which was waiting to be paid. She fled with the coin and took passage to Wayreth. At this safe remove from her irate family and jilted husband she spent the money on the rudiments of a magical education. Unfortunately no matter how she scrimped and scrounged the money began to run out. In desperation she turned to the life of a sell sword, hoping to find coin and magical knowledge to support herself.

@Evestra Looking good! I like the background for your character. The setting is going to be 1 year before the events of Skyrim.

[update]

I am heading off on a trip for 1 week (No internet access). When I return we will get the game going. See you then.

Name: Ka-Vara

Race: Argonian

Archetype: Battlemage

Strength: 2

Endurance: 1

Agility: 3

Intellect: 2

Wits: 3

Personality: 1

Wound Threshold: 12

Strain Threshold: 14

Max Magika: 12

Starting Experience: 100XP

Free Rank: Survival

Amphibious: Argonians can breathe underwater, and do not suffer setback dice imposed due to swimming.

Resistant: Argonians have a Resilience skill of 3 when resisting diseases, and they cannot be Poisoned.

Major Skills: Destruction, One-Handed, Block, and Conjuration.

Background: Ka-Vara entered the world in the swamps of The Black Marsh under the sign of The Shadow. While this would usually mean he would undergo training to become a Shadowscale, the recent decline of The Dark Brotherhood meant the young argonian could recieve no such training. This hardly affected him though. He never really enjoyed the idea of being an assassin. Having heard tales of mighty battlemages from a traveling storyteller, Ka-Vara instead aspired to master the art of magic and mace, to become a battlemage like the ones in the tales.

Ka-Vara's father was a retired adventurer. He was adept at combat, but knew very little of magic, so as Ka-Vara grew up, his father taught Ka-Vara every thing he needed to know about fighting. Once his father passed away, Ka-Vara inherited a large sum of money and all of his father's old adventuring gear that hadn't been sold after he retired. Ka-Vara left The Black Marsh soon after, and for the next 5 years, he's traveled all over Tamriel, learning magic where ever and when ever he can to fulfill his dream of being a mighty battlemage like the ones in the tales he heard as a child.

I don't think either will be joining us. If they didn't make their Character Concepts during your absence, then they most likely lost interest.

Yeah sorry, I'm involved in a lot of gross life stuff right now that's conflicting with my roleplaying. I'll keep subscribed though and if I get some more free time I'll jump in.

If anyone drops out, let me know. I've never been in an Elder Scrolls RP (this site seems to lack them) and have never played the Fantasy Flight Star Wars RPG

So let me get this straight. 1 moment you say you're interested, but after someone tells you there's plenty of room, all you can say is "We'll see".
