A few notes note on post standards, pacing, and setting before you begin (Respectively).

First posts in a roleplay, whether by GM or by players, pretty much always end up disproportionately long compared to what's needed from later posts. And that's ok. But don't set permanent personal standards for length by your or anyone else's first post. Having standards that are too high will make posting more difficult than it needs to be, and no one wants that. Stick to the essentials, which is this: Does my post respond to other players, if necessary? Does my post give something for other players to respond to in their own ways? Do I feel like I've put enough effort into my post to make it worth reading? Are the unique and interesting parts of my character and my story arc being explored in this post? If you can honestly answer yes to all of those questions, length, ultimately, doesn't matter.

On in-game time. Time will run semi-linearly in this roleplay. I'm asking you to use discretion here (but feel free to ask if you have a question). Two gods in conversation with one another obviously will be interacting on the same time scale, which will be pretty slow (doesn't take an hour to say a sentence). However, gods working on their personal projects will usually take longer, and to keep an interesting pace, in-game time in these posts will be pretty fast. Try to maintain a balance between interactions that take place quickly and actions that take place slowly, so that characters don't get left too far behind. This will have to be a team effort, to some degree. If you make a post that details your character taking a long while to produce something big, you may have accidentally shot ahead of the others a bit, so ping your Sense of Attraction and slow down to interact with other characters. If you've been debating with other characters for a while, the participants may get a little left behind time wise, so have them do some time-consuming divine acts in the space of a single post or so to get up to speed. Don't stress too much about it, but I'll be keeping an eye on you all to see if you guys ever need to speed up or slow down relative to one another. If everyone's doing something fast or something slow at the same time, then perfect, but that won't always be the case.

Lastly- Your character can appear anywhere nearby the wreckage. They might remember their death, or they might not. You may actually want to write up their death, and that's ok, but don't drag it out too long. They may take to their powers like a duck to a pond or they may not even realise the extent of what's happened. They may do something rash with their powers. That's cool, but try to give other players a chance for their characters to finish their internal monologues and start interacting with one another before that. Gods can tell the difference between humans and other gods, mostly by the fact that gods don't have souls (at least not in the way that humans do). Gods will be able to sense and remove the soul of a human, but they'll see one another as humans see each other. Feel free to shoot me any questions. If I don't get any questions I'm probably the smoothest GM the world has ever seen.

@darkwolf687 Yep, he's still good.

[@Antartic Termite] Just wondering, would there just be one huge thread for the entire roleplay or several locations in which the players can interact?

Mostly this thread. If it blows itself too far up size wise, I might look at alternatives, but I strongly doubt that'll happen. Of course, you're free and encouraged to make collab posts, so long as you can complete them quickly and use them only when necessary- For example, for a fast, close conversation between gods or when they collaborate to make something.

Damn you took care of that in three-four paragraphs while it takes me 30+ minutes to explain it all xD

Hehe, sorry... it just seemed the thing to do for a new goddess who hasn't quite realised the extent of her powers.

I'm probably going to do my next post on Thursday, by the way. Feel free to start messing with each other once you've made a starting post. Try not to barge headfirst into your own realm too quickly, though! There's still plenty to do around here.

My post could take a whole, I'm writing for a deadline again, and said deadline involves a magazine.

Which means I no longer have time to do anything but write.

My apologies for the delay! I started a draft of Alex's post, but haven't had a chance to polish it to better fit in with the posts that have already gone up. Tomorrow's my day off, so I'll try to have a post up then as well.

Summary of the first posts we have so far: Kylie has immediately gone superhero and is putting out the fire, Jonathan is making his own fire just to clear his way from the wreckage (FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT), Kaya is on fire somewhere, Qunin is doing the nice guy thing and healing people up, Aleksa is playing with sharp objects, Josh is having an existential crisis, and Shadrach is completely spaced out as usual, having donated his glass to Aleksa's glass pile and is naively showing Josh his own blackened skull. He's insensitive sometimes.

As always, remember to ping anyone you're interacting with directly. Remember that characters interact with their new divinity in their own unique ways, and Shad's just another character, not an example of how yours will think and perceive things (though I don't think we've had any problems there so far). And of course- Keep doing whatever it is you think is dramatic to do! The story is yours to manufacture. There's no pressure to do anything other than what your character feels like.

Which means I no longer have time to do anything but write.

The irony is crippling. Take your time.

Tomorrow's my day off, so I'll try to have a post up then as well.

We'll wait. All good.

Big question! Are we all apart of the same religion, like Greek Mythology and it's polytheistic ? Or do we each have our own religions?

Also, @Antarctic Termite, how does one ping someone after making them the focus of your post? Sorry, I'm new :-/

Just do what you just did. It's just tagging a persons name. ( [@(Whoever's name)] )

First of all, the main post is pretty clear that if you're applying for a new character, you post their sheet here first, and wait until it's approved before you repost it in the character thread. I've only skimmed through yours so far and it seems fine (I'll read it in depth later), but I've had to reject about five applications on a quality basis so far, so there's a reason I added that rule.

As for the question... I can't actually figure out what you're trying to ask. Are you asking whether the characters all practiced the same religion before they died and the roleplay started? That's up to the writers. Each character will have their own spirituality, although almost no one has paid any attention to that in their interests section so far, so I'm assuming they're all agnostic.

Or are you asking whether the setting has a unified religion? I went over that in some detail in the main posts, but to recap: The original religion of Makarya is a diverse mix of folk religions based on local gods and spirits, often tied to things like constellations, communities or landmarks, and anthropomorphic representations of animals and living things. The majority of the population is now Buddhist, especially in the rural north, and a large proportion, primarily city dwellers, are agnostic. Avernale itself has a massive immigrant population, and as such is home to numerous mosques and churches, and almost certainly at least one synagogue. In general, though, Avernalese people have a strong culture of religious experimentation, with very little stigma towards those who choose to change their religious views (though some immigrants may not share this tradition so readily).

I will get things in order eventually xD just finished and sent off my university application, so now its into practice for the admissions test... In between excessively long gaming and youtube binges. Because I am a bad student like that...

Take your studies seriously, but try to leave some time for a post too.

Wait I was supposed to post it in here? I'm so sorry! I can go delete it and re-post it in here if you'd like! I skimmed through the main post I completely apologize. And yes, I was asking if each god (the ones we're roleplaying with) had their own religions that people followed, or if we were all united in one religion that people worship.

Greg is accepted, by the way, so you can leave him where he is. No edits needed.

Neither. Not yet, anyway. The roleplay starts at the moment of the character's death- The moment when they gain their power for the first time. If you want to set up a cult, feel free to do so- You have practically unlimited resources. If you want to try and herd the other gods into a pantheon with you, great! That'll open some fabulous opportunities for fun interactions! But everything you do will have to start from scratch. This is why I try to describe any groups of disciples that the deities have as cults rather than religions, because the chances that you'll be able to set up a really large and institutionalised religion like the Greek pantheon (or even Mormonism or Scientology, to use modern examples) in a matter of days is unlikely.

Nope. Other than the fact that the island of Makarya exists in the Pacific, this world is identical to our 21st century edition Earth historically, politically and geographically. You can make witches and supernatural beings by adapting any willing humans you may find, but they'll be the first.

Sorry, so sorry, but my post is finally up! My perfectionism was kicking in hardcore--I wrote about five different splintered versions of the damn thing--and I wasn't feeling well yesterday. But I was determined to get something up tonight! Might edit it a little later, if that's okay.

I promise in the next post Alex will start interacting with the rest of the world. She's had a long day; she just needs to take a beat.
