The multiverse. Imperceptibly big and yet almost humorously small. Of course, nobody even knew of the existence of the multiverse... until the invention of the Stepper Box. With the flip of a switch, anyone who can make one can teleport themselves to what is literally the most exotic locale they could ever visit: another universe. With the flip of that same switch another way, that same user can freely travel between alternate timelines, realities, and phase spaces. This spectacular convenience drove trillions of beings away from their homes and into the wild blue yonder, the secrets of the multiverse open to all their wishes. The only thing that stands between them and eternal happiness is the natives of all these universes they are so blithely invading.

When confronted with a potentially infinite amount of possibly hostile people they have no connection to, these multiversal travelers banded together. Dozens of factions formed within short order, each one desperate to eke out a living in the multiverse. Through decades upon decades of fighting, trading, and assimilating, this cavalcade of factions gradually wiped each other out into only a small score of exceptionally powerful and extensive groups. The three most powerful factions were each united, not under the banner of a charismatic overlord, but under the philosophy their members followed.

The Dunkelzahn Institute, dedicated to ensuring that people deserve to travel between universes, no matter how much cajoling it takes to make them earn that right. The Sentient Milieu, dedicated to guaranteeing the happiness and prosperity of the multiverse through giving away its spectacular gifts... for the right price, of course. The Order of Immaculate Reality, dedicated to eliminating threats to each universe's safety with extreme prejudice. Three factions, each of them violently incompatible and none of them inherently wrong. Unbeknownst to the rest of the multiverse, an eternal war is fought between these factions.

The only thing that can halt this eternal war is whatever lies at the center of what is known as The Set Of All Sets (also known as the S.O.A.S.)-- a massive cluster of universes, each one made entirely of one specific material. No one has ever managed to penetrate any deeper than a single layer of the S.O.A.S., due to the sheer difficulty of finding a safe space in a solid wall of antimatter. Anyone that can, however, will be well on their way to unlocking the key to total control over the entire multiverse, and all that that entails.

The unlimited amounts of power sourced directly from the Dyson Sphere allows agents of The Sentient Milieu to stay comfortably warm and energized wherever they are.

Base: The Great Library. A massive structure built solely for storing media of all types, The Great Library is a receptacle for all known media in the multiverse. Thanks to the unusual similarities between fiction and many universes, The Great Library technically stores nothing but nonfiction. The wealth of knowledge stored within The Great Library allows agents of The Order of Immaculate Reality to intimately understand whatever situation they may be entering.

Then again this one does fulfill the 'you meet in a prison, try to escape'.

Not sure how to rate it. Dunno, guess it depends on how well Vohaul produces movies. Presumably they do good work, cause they are pulling out decent effects.

Huh... my interest in this has been raised even further by that opening post. A prison for multiversal monsters that doubles as a horror attraction? Awesome idea.

I wonder, would they also imprison various villains there? I had a nice idea for something relating to that.

Well, actually, the big plot is that a multiversal media conglomerate is trying to film the Ultimate Horror Movie by basically making a cross between a game show and a snuff film. To that end, they've massacred the population of an island prison, kidnapped a bunch of people from across the multiverse, and then started dumping in monsters and psychos.

I deliberately left how everyone works with this vague. You can be someone coming in to investigate the distress signal, you can be someone they kidnapped, you can be one of the 'monsters', you can be a tourist looking to check out all the hellholes of the world. It's all up to you!

So the horror show gonna be pay-per view, have a theatrical release or be subscription based?

How long should I wait before I ignore @Rick Sanchez so we can move on? I want to give the benefit of the doubt, but I've seen him viewing the thread since my post and we've had nothing in three days. If he returns we can say he was in a different hallway or something.

I'm willing to wait longer, but I'm getting kinda antsy at present.

Ah, so I wasn't the only one waiting for something.

@Sodium, just so you know, I was expecting Aoi to effortlessly annihilate the two aliens in a single post (or something like that), so as to avoid accusations of overcomplicating things. That's not to say she has to do that, of course.

I tend to opt for a little bit of struggle in fights. Effortless mook destruction isn't quite as fun in roleplaying as it is in video game RPGs. Plus, as things are, Aoi is focused on froggy and wouldn't notice the wormsuits closing in. On top of all that, I like to wait for everyone to pitch in. It's not fun unless everyone gets a chance to do their things, right?

Anyway, glad you're still in this. Sorry for the misunderstanding!

I'll also allowed OCs so long as they're connected to a non-original universe' end quote. so you're guy may perhaps not be acceptable for this RP also aren't space marines male only or at least wear very and i mean very gender neutral armor
