Hmm, that's an interesting take on that, I was thinking ancient mythology, so I'm not sure if Satan would fit haha

@CandiBarr

She has yet to be taken, but it'll be interesting to see her, I just read the new Magnus Chase book that involves her hahaha

@Jones Sparrow Yay! I'm not familiar with Magnus Chase, so perhaps I'll have to read up on his take of her character. I'm obsessed with the t.v. show Vikings right now which is why I'm craving to play Freyja.

Not all people classify Satan as a myth though

Most of the others ones people do. Not my call though, just an opinion

It should be okay. Satan isn't omnipotent. Depending on the "myth" he isn't even number two, he's number three.

@ActRaiserTheReturned Well when he says ancient myths, I think he means those that are so old they aren't believed to be real anymore, not popularly anyway. Like Greco-Roman, Egyptian, Norse, Aztec, etc.

@ActRaiserTheReturnedI think by ancient mythologies, he means ones no longer practice on a large-ish scaler know a days, so as to avoid conflicts and what not that might arise.

They always show shades in a bad light but I always see him as a balance and the only reason he is so moody is he kind of got the bad end of the stick job wise. I mean, his brother rules over the sky as well as the gods. The other rules over the oceans which makes up most of the earth and he gets to sit in never ending darkness and rules over the dead. Can't say I would be completely happy and wonderful either in those situations.

The story of Hades and Persephone has so many different versions. My favorite is actually the one where Hades kidnaps Persephone but eventually they fall in love because Persephone can see past everything to view what is really in his heart. When she is ordered to return to her mother she is torn on what to do. Hades tricked her into eating the Pomegranate seeds so she didn't have to worry about making a choice. He saved her from that and even gave her a small amount instead of forcing her to stay in the darkness with him all the time.

In one version, he even opens up the underworld so that a spring time tree may grow there to keep Persephone happy and herself.

He is not a bad guy. Not really.

And that's something I am planning on exploring, actually. Since he won't really have so many powers at the beginning, he'll have to cope with the idea that his abilities might isolate him.

RE: The Satan debate. I'm a Christian and while I don't especially find that idea offensive, others might. Not to mention, last time I played an RPG like this it was ruined by the introduction of elements like that. In his own story, Satan is insanely powerful and not well defined.

In my case, both Sin and Marduk were considered the heads of their respective pantheons at some point, so they might have the whole leadership thing going for them. Maybe they're the head of a highly successful company, with their human personality being a hard-assed near-psychopath to get to that position, which naturally conflicts with their own deific personalities - Sin's perhaps more debatable on this topic, but he covers wisdom, so I'd assume he's quite friendly to most, whilst from what I'm reading about Marduk, he's almost certainly a good person given his battles against entities such as Tiamat, though perhaps inclined to be good at combat in various ways, so there's that. Hell, maybe I make both of them to start with, and they're the heads of rival companies, even... something like that, if I can actually roleplay a company leader effectively. As for Kur... I got nothing. Maybe something to do with indomitability, since he's apparently representative of the land and/or mountains. With that in mind, you said "mortal forms" rather than explicitly "humans" in the first post; would it be reasonable to make a character that starts off as, say... a lizard of some form? Probably not, but I'd just thought I'd bring it up as a fair point.

Holy fuck u don't see interet checks grow like this very often (or at least I don't :P ) so this is pretty hype.

OK BUT NOW ITS TIME TO ASK THE REAL QUESTION.

Ya'll use real pics or drawn-pictures for your characters?

I think some people here don't know that this is an after the end scenarios. It's up to the GM ultimately but I'm seeing things like CEOs and crime bosses.

That's because you haven't seen a Jones Sparrow RP yet!:P hahaha just kidding

And as for pictures, either one works! I usually do descriptions if I don't find a picture that suits what I'm looking for! I'm laid back when it comes to that kind of stuff haha

@Pathfinder

The setting will take place a few years after the "end of the world" So things will start popping up like certain gangs or towns, but yeah absolutely not any CEO's and stuff. Plus with the way I'm probably going to do it, our characters are just gonna kinda "wake up" and really have no idea what's happening. They'll know the bare basics of the world, and things will be instinctive to them, but they won't be something too powerful immediately

Oh, right, end of the world and all that... what about ex-CEOs? People who had a company (or "had", if they spawn into mortal existence abruptly rather than being born into the world as infants), but then lost ("lost") the company on account of the apocalypse. Would they be reasonable? Okay no I'm just stupid. Jones already said what was going to happen with characters, so just kind of... ignore me.

Wepwawet was one of the Egyptian dieties that represented connections to war as well as being one who opened the way to the Du'at once the soul had passed the judgement of Anubis.

So ultimately I would say he would seem to be a rather intimidating person yet he himself is rather open to greeting strangers and giving his opinion on matters even if they don't pertain to him with a strategical mind with a good eye for details. Even with his representation of war he would rather find means of preventing bloodshed then rather causing it - The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.

He was at times viewed as being a brother to Anubis due to the similar heads, which while Anubis is a Jackal, Wepwawet was that of an Egyptian Wolf which until recently was actually also thought to of a been a species of jackal.

So I somewhat want to throw that into the mix though first have to talk to the person who has Anubis reserved as their character.
