Considering that I believe interest has waned considerably, I'd ask if those still present would like to continue or would like to perhaps endeavor on a new (ancient or more modern) national RP; if anything this RP has shown me things that work and things that don't.

That said, I'm still down to continue!

Still up for continuing. The vast majority I believe are still here, those that have yet to post are just lacking subject to write about from the sounds of it.
Perhaps to avoid long delays, a time should be set before we move on anyway.

Regardless of what you do, should you decide to make a new NRP, i'd be up for that also.

I am up for continuing, but I have very little to contribute at this moment. Maybe if I declared war on someone it would jump-start things?

If rebooting, I'm fine with that too.

One issue I have with this current game setup is simple lack of agency. As a regional power, I feel hemmed in and without control, especially when next to a lot of Great Powers. I feel like I am reacting more than acting in this game thus far. I get that there are differences between Great and Regional Powers, and maybe I was playing wrong, but still not entirely enjoyable for me yet.

Again, maybe getting into a war would fix this.

I understand this. I think it's an issue of the era; as during the 19th century, those non-Great Power nations simply had little to contribute. This is something I learned, and one thing I would change in the next iteration.

@Theodorable Just out of interest. What sort of Ancient or Modern setting was you thinking for this potential NRP?

I personally would like to continue, it might be out of bias for the time period though.

@Lone Wanderer I had three ideas.

1. Ancient: This would be akin to the times of Rome. There would be Civilized nations, like the Romans, Hellenes, Carthaginians and Sassanis. Secondly would be the Uncivilized/Barbaric tribes. The former would have higher order, better technology and leadership, while the latter would have (based on game mechanics) increasing population and the desire to migrate, thus bringing these two different types of civilizations into conflict.

2. Imperial: With technology starting around 1905 and going until we decide to quit, this game would see nation states rise and come into conflict over ideologies (freedom vs autocracy, for example) and have an emphasis on military technology. This one would probably have the most balance as people joined the ideological faction and weren't left out in the cold.

3. Modern: Probably set in the 2030's-ish, this would see the game start just as the last global Superpower nation falls apart and leaves the world ripe for the picking, as if it were. So nations that foster democracy would want to try and uphold world order while autocratic nations would just and take the opportunity to annex, conquer, et cetera.

--------------------------

While I enjoy the 19th century, several problems exist:

1. Regional Powers are limited. While I was curious as to whether Braiyusal and Nehalania would go to war, unless Braiyusal simply played his cards right I just couldn't see an outcome where he was going to win a war because Nehalania's industrial base was simply too potent. That was just a single example though.

2. The system I created, while great for ensuring it is both a game AND an RP had some flaws. I did a TERRIBLE job of representing the economies as well as the NPC nations.

3. I've learned to make better maps!

4. I want to give every opportunity to active players to have agency. Skylar and Boop and several others were much more active than some of the Great Powers, but were limited by the time/game mechanics and that made me feel bad.

I'd love to keep going however if we do make something new I'd prefer the imperial period.

@Theodorable All those settings sound awesome.
I especially love the Imperial setting, as the early 20th century has always interested me with its ideologies and changing warfare. I also think that the time period would have powers not of the major variety more involved. If it was a vote, Imperial would get mine.

I'm primarily in favor of a 2030's setting, if we can get around little naggling issues like "nuclear weapons" and such. Take a leaf from Black Ops 3 or Endwar and say proliferation of ballistic missile defense systems forces a return to conventional warfare?

All three ideas work for me really. I'm not opposed to continuing this game either if you want to reboot with new rules and turn settings.

Can I make a suggestion. Theo what if we did Imperial or Modern but with the same nations/map. You'd need to update the history perhaps I mean we could talk on chatzy about this idea and how the world would've changed.

I'm fine with any of the selected time periods if we do reboot. Also @LordZell the problem I see with doing the same map sadly is that it won't leave much room for new players. At least I would imagine it being a bit difficult for them.

I'm interested in being a Iron age empire with some peculiar cultural traits centered around the region north of Cavelle bay on the east side of the mountain range, the one west of Olympia Bay.

Any details on the region north of Cavalle I should be aware of?

Okay, seems this RP's going into a new iteration.

Ancient sounds like a interesting path to go. Would also mean being able to develop more unique cultures will be easier since with a modern tech RP you tend to have more uniform cultural norms (unless it's a extremely huge planet where multiple independent industrial revolutions manage to occur or something).

Changing vote to ancient times. Allows for more individualistic combat and diverse cultures.
