The scientist have found a way to blend human and animal DNA. The government has agreed to fund this experiment. The question was where to get volunteers. After much discussion it is agreed to offer the option to young criminals as away to avoid jail and turn their lives around. As one of these young criminals you will have to learn to control your animal instincts and learn to change at will. If you survive the training you will became a solider defending the United States. The teens are kept an apartment complex that was build under ground. The idea was to give them enough space not to kill each other. It was understood that the teens would do exactly what they were told or they would be destroyed. They would be tested and educated. It was hoped that they could become the soldiers of the future saving others.

Bio: Growing up in an orphanage was hard for Eddie, always being bullied by the older kids under the negligent eye of the attendants. After all, there was little to no hope of ever being adopted from Black Rose Orphanage, notorious for producing about a quarter of all criminals in the city. Eddie ran away when he was just 14 years old. Made a living selling stolen merchandise most times from breaking and entering. It wasn't until later when he made his name in the local underground fighting arena. Scouted by a local gang, he steadily rose in ranks of the underground arena and became his gang's best fighter. He favored grappling and joint techniques over striking earning him the nickname "Vise". One night walking home after visiting some bars he bumped into the current champion in an alleyway. Johnny "The Champ" Murdock was waiting for Eddie to end his fighting career, jealous at how he was getting more fame than him and afraid he would take his title. He pulled a knife and quickly slashed at Eddie's face, giving him the scar across his face. Eddie had no choice but to fight back and tried to take away the knife. Eddie quickly went for the blade but Johnny wouldn't make it easy. They both where grabbing the knife, trying to out-strength each other until Johnny slipped on an empty bottle and fell backwards, Eddie following suit. It was a hard crash to the floor, Eddie noticed Johnny wasn't moving. The knife stuck on his chest, Eddie panicked, ran away. It was long until policy caught up to Eddie and so here he is facing a choice; to volunteer on the program or jail.

@KatherinWinter Umm, I mean he has basic gunsmithing knowledge... as most hunters do, since it's a long trek into to town, and in his case it was probably through a lot of snow and ice as well across slopes, (ie it was often unfeasible, if not impossible to travel). It's necessary for their survival. I'm not saying he can take some copper tubing, some duct tape, a nail, and some bullet and make a gun, he just know how to clean most guns, or at least how to figure it out, and can replace broken parts if he has spares. (he does need spare parts, he's not a blacksmith/metallurgist and can't make his own parts)

Does that make sense? (I think that addresses your issue, but I'm not sure)

He is allergic to dairy. He is very rebellious, and does not respect authority. When he was 11, he ran away from home because his parents were abusive. He has lived alone on the streets with nothing but his 3 pocket-knives and his one pair of clothes. Over the years he taught himself how to sneak and thieve, and he has gotten into many fights, teaching him his fighting skills. He had always avoided the law, until recently when he got greedy and tried to steal an I-phone unsuccessfully. He was arrested for this and his many other crimes. He was given two options: prison, or this experiment.
