Solomon glared at Blythe fro a moment but then relented, "I suppose you're right, your personality is stronger than Israfil's."

"Wh-what do you mean?" Israfil asked, distressed.

"Well, you're kind of a coward, and you're indecisive," Solomon replied.

Israfil looked crestfallen.

"You just need some confidence," Solomon said almost encouragingly.

"Wow, you're really an asshole." Blythe said, glaring at Solomon. "You know, perhaps you can try to do other things than treating others as if they're beneath you and making them feel bad."

"Hey, I'm just telling him what Lieutenant Encarnacion will probably tell him later anyways. And I'm offering to help him overcome these shortcomings," Solomon said, putting a hand on Israfil's shoulder. Israfil cringed slightly.

"Well, guess what? That's the Lieutenant's job, not yours. So quit acting as if he's inferior to me, you, or anyone else here, because everyone has strengths and weaknesses. Not to mention that you just said you got your own ass kicked as well." Blythe said to Solomon.

"W-well..." Solomon was at a loss for words, and grasped at an excuse, "RHS is...I mean, he's a machine. He probably controls his cog like he controls his own body."

Tera cringed a little upon hearing this.

Blythe let out a sigh. "It doesn't matter if someone is made out of flesh or metal. Anything and anyone can be beaten. If you fail to defeat your own opponent, than don't talk down to others for doing the same." Blythe said in return. "And just for the record, I don't believe you're sounding very friendly when you refer to your teammates as machines rather than individuals. Quantums are AIs, they are known to have a conscience, feelings, thoughts, everything that defines a human. Perhaps you should try treating them that way."

"Come on, the training is over. Let's go somewhere else." Claire suggested to Tera, noticing how she cringed. Perhaps it was the best to leave, before things were getting worse.

Solomon fumed but couldn't think of anything to say. He still thought Sion was creepy, but he had forgotten that Tera was also a Quantum. "Goddamnit!" He said in exasperation and stormed off.

Israfil cowered a little at the arguing, but relaxed when it ended, looking at Blythe in admiration, "Wow, I couldn't talk to him like that."

Tera followed Claire's suggestion, "Thanks. I'm used to hearing stuff like that, but it still kind of gets to me. I'll be fine though." She looked over at Blythe in gratitude for standing up for her and her kind.

Blythe listened to Israfil and shrugged. "He's an asshole, you shouldn't let him say stuff like that about you. But then again, speaking up to people like that has gotten me in trouble quite some times already, so it's not always the best option." She said.

Claire nodded. "That's understandable. It's never nice to hear when people say bad things about you, or your kind." She said. "Anyway, maybe we should try to do something more cheerful than thinking of such things. What do you do for fun?"

"Th-thanks," Israfil said, "Though he's not entirely wrong; I do need to improve my skills, and it wouldn't be the first time that someone's told me that my mindset is what's holding me back."

"I like to...read..." Tera said, a bit crestfallen since reading was not exactly a social activity. "I also like games of all sorts, card games, board games, computer games...what do you like to do for fun?"

"Just that he's right doesn't mean that he should be an asshole about it." Blythe said to Israfil.

"I like a lot of things, actually. Maybe we could play a board game together?" Claire suggested, hoping Tera wouldn't mind some company.

"Yeah, I wish he didn't have such a chip on his shoulder," Israfil agreed.

"Sure," Tera said, heading over to the recreation room with Claire. "Are there any games that you're familiar with, or did you want to learn something new?"

"Most Asceneded are like that, unfortunately enough." Blythe said to Israfil. If anything, he seemed nice, even if he was a bit of a coward.

"Something new could be nice. Do you have any suggestions?" Claire asked Tera.

"Yeah, I suppose," Israfil said, a little deflated. "D-do you suppose...I-I don't mean to sound treasonous, but do you suppose things would be better for us...Wildtypes, I mean...in another empire...like FAS?"

"Hmm," Tera thought for a bit, "How about this one then?" She pulled out a board and set it on a table. Though it was technically a 'board game', everything was more or less handled electronically to save the trouble of remembering rules, performing calculations, and loosing small pieces. "It's non-combative, mostly about resource management."

Blythe shrugged. "Perhaps, but I doubt that it would be much better. I mean sure, the Ascendancy isn't perfect, but every empire has its flaws and bad apples." She said to Israfil. She wasn't being very optimistic, but that was just the way she looked at things.

"Sure, I suppose I can give it a try. How does it work?" Claire asked Tera, taking a seat at the table. It should be fun to do something other than missions and trainings for a moment.

"Y-yeah," Israfil agreed, "B-but please don't tell anyone I asked that, I'm not really considering deserting or anything like that."

Tera explained the basics of gameplay, how to choose a starting location based on good coverage of resources, how to expand from there to acquire resources that couldn't be had at the start, how to spend those resources in order to synergize and take advantage of game objectives, and what the victory conditions were.

Blythe as shrugged. "What you consider is of no concern to others." She said. If he wanted to go to another empire, than why should anyone have the right to stop him?

Claire listened to what Tera told her, trying to remember it all. It did sound a little complicated to her, though.

"That's...very free-spirited of you," Israfil said at a loss. Treason was a serious matter, but Blythe seemed to be brushing it off. "How do you not let what other people think affect you?" he asked, intrigued.

"We can start out playing against AI, if you want," Tera proposed.

"A lot of people tend to compare me to Claire, due to the two of us being twins and all, so whatever I did, I would be compared to her. In the end I decided that I shouldn't try to please others and that if they can't accept me the way I am and that I'm not like my sister, they are no people I need in my life." Blythe explained to Israfil. To her, it was as simple as things could be.

Claire nodded. "I think that would be a good start." She said, hoping that woukd help her understand it better.

"A-are you resentful of Claire?" Israfil asked.

Tera and Claire played fora bit against the AI, which was not overly aggressive. The game required some thought but was not too difficult.

"You don't think this is weird do you? Playing with a Quantum AI against board game AI?"

"Not at all. I don't like that people compare me to Claire, but that's not her fault. I have no reason to resent her." Blythe said to Israfil. Her sister was a nice girl, and Blythe definitely didn't resent her.

Claire shook her head. "I don't see why that should be odd." She said.
