"Th-that's good," Israfil said, "It would be terrible if it caused a rift between you two." It made him feel a little better about his poor performance during the mock battle.

"Well, a lot of people don't realize the drastic difference in complexity between Quantum thought and simpler AI," Tera elaborated, "They think that our minds...our souls...are nothing but programs."

Blythe shrugged. "I won't let that happen. She's my twin, I don't want the bond we share to be ruined by such a thing." She said.

"I suppose that's understandable. But the difference between you and the AI we're playing against is quite clear to me." Claire answered. There was a certain difference between the two, that was for sure.

"Yeah, we're all comrades," Israfil said, thinking suddenly of Solomon. "I really appreciate you standing up for me, but I'm going to go talk to Solomon, I don't want the distance between him and us to get any further."

"Thank you," Tera replied, appreciative of the respect Claire had for Quantums. She decided she didn't need to elaborate further by using the difference between animals and humans as an analogy for the difference between simpler programs and Quantums.

Blythe nodded. Although she didn't expect it to help, whatever Israfil did was up to himself. Blythe preferred to stay away from Solomon, though.

"So, do you play board games like often?" Claire asked, looking at Tera. It would be nice to keep a conversation going.

"Not that often," Tera replied, "Only if I have people to play with. What about you? What do you like doing in your spare time?"

"I usually like to read a lot, things like romance and mystery novels are a very good read to me." Claire told Tera. Sure, she also read books for her study, but that was different.

"I enjoy reading too," Tera replied, glad to have found common ground, "Specifically I like books, it's just...different when you have a book in your hands, flipping through the pages, than just having an electronic file."

Claire smiled, looking at Tera. She could completely relate to what the Quantum was talking about, there was just something amazing about books, they were magical. "What kind of books do you like to read?" Claire asked.

"I like fantasy, science-fiction, fiction, non-fiction, almost anything, really," Tera replied.

"What book did you like the best so far?" Claire asked, figuring that Tera might appreciate it if Claire showed some interest in her. They were on the same and working together, so it might be good to get to know the Quantum better.

"I..." Tera hesitated, "I like a lot of Zanoss ETF's work...they're a...famous Quantum professor in Horizon." Zanoss was as old as the Race War itself, having been one of the major philosophers that drove the Quantum independence movement. To the Ascendancy, they were an enemy of the state, but their works emphasized the sanctity of Quantum life, and addressed a lot of questions Quantums had about being 'artificial sentients'. Zanoss' works were considered 'terrorist publications', but Tera trusted Claire enough to tell her that she had read Zanoss' works without being called out as a traitor to the Ascendancy.

"Zanoss? Aren't his works considered kind of bad?" Claire asked Tera. She had had the name several times before and though she wasn't familiar with what he wrote, she had head that it was no good.

"Well," Tera's eyes shifted around a bit, "Zanoss is blamed for escalating the Race Wars by advocating for...Quantum freedom. B-but Zanoss isn't a supremacist, he doesn't believe that Wildtypes or Ascendeds are beneath Quantums, at least, that's the feeling I get from his books. Y-you won't tell anyone I read his work, will you?"

"Don't worry, I won't tell anyone." Claire reassured Tera. Although she didn't if the books were really that bad or not, Claire figured that it wasn't the best idea to damage Tera's trust, right after telling something like this.

"I know that maybe it's a bit childish and the books are old, but I really like the collected works of the Grimm brothers." Claire admitted. Perhaps a girl her age shouldn't be reading fairytales anymore, but still, she just liked the stories a lot.

"There's nothing wrong with that," Tera reassured, "there's something to be said of the simplicity and universality of children's stories. Though it is unfortunate that outgrowing the moral lessons in them is taken as a sign of 'maturity'."

Claire nodded in agreement. It was true, the moral lessons were things one eventually outgrew, although to Claire, the stories were still very nice to read, even though she already knew many of the stories. It was just nice, to read about those magical worlds where anything could happen, and where things always had an happy ending.

A message was sent out to both of the twins' drives, informing them to report to Lieutenant Encarnacion's office.
