*Quietly squees in delight over above post*

I have returned triumphant from history class, another 2 100's on my tests. Woo Hoo! I am really enjoying history, quite a bit, though it is a world history overview so we are just getting a small taste of everything but it is tantalizing. I may end up taking more just for fun.

-Name: introduces herself as Cal, when asked for her full name she gives any name including the letters C, A, and L, and the last name Blake

-Gender: Female

-Type: Banshee/Rakshasa

-Appearance: As a human, Cal can appear as a young or old woman. As a young woman she's usually described as attractive with striking features and light skin. Her hair is a wavy auburn and her eyes are bright amber. She stands around five foot six. As an old woman she appears very frail - her eyes are a washed out gray and her hair hangs long and white. She hobbles around at the same height as her younger version, but she's usually bent over.

-Age: somewhere in her twenties, appears around 24 or in her eighties.

-Powers/Traits: Cal is a mixture of a banshee and a rakshasa. She is able to see when people will die by touching their skin, and will know if someone is a few minutes from death if she's in their presence, regardless of whether or not she's touched them. Her screams stop people in their tracks and can be loud enough to cause intense pain or shatter a human's ear drums. She can easily switch between her younger and older human appearance unless she's weakened. On her Rakshasa side, she can shape-shift into almost any land or sky animal. Like her human forms, her energy is expended in switching between shapes, not maintaining her current shape. It takes more energy to switch between large shapes than small shapes, but neither takes an excessive amount of energy. Whatever damage she takes in one form will appear in any other form she takes until she heals.

She is well versed in English, French, Spanish, Russian, German, and Italian from her travels. She's trained in combat but prefers to avoid it, and is an excellent pavement and escape artist. Her specialty is being able to gain information from nearly anyone without them becoming aware or suspicious of what she is doing.

-Background: Her mother died in childbirth, and Cal barely survived the process herself. Her mother's fae background and the complications of her birth made her into the part-banshee she is. She grew up with her father, a Rakshasa, and moved around the world a lot. He raised her as best he could, but Cal always got the impression he was training her for something rather than teaching her to grow up right. He taught her how secrets ran the world, and the best ways to discover those secrets. He told her how to blend into the world and move around without being noticed. He trained both her fight and flight responses so she'd be prepared for any situation. And then, when she was ready, he introduced her to the Bain and Hoyle company.

For most of her father's life, he had worked for Bain and Hoyle. He was near the top of the company when he had Cal, and he worked a deal with them. If he took leave and trained his daughter to work for them and it all went according to plan, he would be given back his position when the training was finished. By the time she was seventeen she was past the level her father had been at when he joined the company, and she was introduced into the work. Her father returned to his former position and the began to use her to gather intelligence the agency needed from people for a few years. Gradually, she began to go on various other missions, although her specialty remains in efficient and clandestine information collection.

I don't entirely understand the description of the world; is it a separate realm, like an alternate dimension, or is the RP set in the "real" world, with the supernatural being kept a secret from humanity?

The Veiled World is the world behind the 'mundane' one we see. So London and New York and Sydney and Moscow and Beijing and Mumbai all exist as we know them, but the Veiled World exists right alongside them, hidden from the sight of most of humanity.

And congratulations LT, and yeah Atticus and Henry! Oh, how I've missed all these characters!

Mila Mokosch

"Still waters run deep....."

Gender: Female

Creature Type: Fresh water spirit

Appearance: Mila was and still is a young woman of traditional beauty. Rosy skin with a scattering of freckles across the center of her face. High cheekbones and a finely shaped nose and lips along with long flowing hair. Deep and striking eyes which seem to shift between green and blue never truly settling for either. She has a womanly figure standing at about 5'5''. This is what she looks like under "normal" circumstances.

When you get on her bad side she can get quite scary, changing from a spring maiden to a creature of malice. Her skin turning disturbingly pale almost translucent and she has no visible pupils to speak of. Her hair clinging to her soaked body in a disarray of copper strands.

Age: 122 actual age, apparent age 18

Powers/Traits: Mila is a Rusalka which is the Slavic equivalent of the Greek Naiads or fresh water nymhps. But where as the nymphs of Greece were largely altruistic creatures, Rusalki are just as likely to drown you as help you. They are spirits of girls who died before their time and returned to live as spirit beings in our world, near where they had once lived and died. They are not invariably malevolent, and will be allowed to die in peace when their death is avenged. The rusalka is rumored not to live long on dry land, but with her comb she was always safe, for it gave her the power to conjure water when she needed it. According to some legends, should the rusalka's hair dry out, she would die. They live their lives without men but like to entice them to join their dancing. The men are lured in by their beauty and sweet laughter. Once you join their dancing you are doomed, for their victims are overcome by a persistent ticklish sensation which can only be relieved by dance. They usually die from exhaustion, de-hydration or starvation. Wearing fern on your body will protect you from the Rusalki, they can't pull you under or force you to dance their deadly dance.

While these legends hold some truth they should be taken with a grain of salt. They vary from region to region and are at best vague in their depiction as not many lived to tell the truth. Mila brings to Bain & Hoyle company her wit, sharp tongue and talent of quiet observation. She has studied Slavic folklore for a great deal of her life and is fluent in all South Slavic Languages including her native tongue of Bulgarian.

Background: To make a tragic story short, Mila was a young girl born in the 19th century to a simple and hardworking farmer couple. A pretty girl for a farmers daughter she had no shortage of suitors. Her parents had recognized this and sought to marry her to off to the wealthy son of a merchant. Naturally Mila was against this arranged marriage wanting to marry for "love" and being young and stupid she all too quickly fell in love. He was no merchants son, having less money on him than a stray dog of the streets. Mila didn't care. She had a child out of wedlock which disgraced the already questionable reputation of her family. Enraged Mila's father took his daughter to a lake where he made sure no one would ever find her again. He drowned her, believing her death would save their status in the community. It took her days to get over the shock of dying before she realized she hadn't. The desperate act of her father was one of the cursed ways to create a.....Rusalka. Not long after she found a group of Rusalki which taught her much . They told her there was still a way to die peacefully but Mila wanted to make the best of her life. At least that was what she told herself. For her to die peacefully her murder had to be avenged. But even after more than a century with her father being long dead, she still lived. She joined the Bain & Hoyle company after being recruited by the Siren Henry. Skeptical at first it took a few sweet words and the promise of unlimited access to the Bain & Hoyle library to convince the red headed Rusalka. By the way don't ask her how they met because Henry won't let her hear the end of it. As a fairly new agent of only two months she's still finding her way in the prestigious enterprise.

Right, well, the reason I'm asking is because I was wondering about obvious non-human creatures - would they need to hide from humanity in order to not be seen? I was thinking about making an application with a CS featuring either a minotaur or one of the giants from Albion (like Gogmagog), but am not sure if that's possible in the setting or not. It'd no doubt work if he had some sort of human form, but that doesn't fit in in neither of the creatures' mythology, if that is of importance.

However, the "species" itself doesn't really matter. What I'm going for is some sort of physically powerful and mentally aggressive, not overtly intellectual character to add to the cast, so if anyone knows a better suited creature, that might work too.

I would think it would add an interesting element to have a Minotaur or some other such creature. Perhaps he has obtained some type of totem or had a spell caste upon him to allow for his imperceptible movement through humanity? I would say also that it might be tougher to play a character that is more bestial, just from a interaction stand point, but if you think you can pull it off, then I say go for it.

You know what, that might just work. I'm imaging the character having a cursed placed on him, rendering him human in appearance and with relatively diminished power. He'd only be able to return to his true form for shorter durations. The longer he stays in true form, the more painful the experience gets, until he'd eventually die after about... 24 hours? His transformation to and fro would be painful as well, but it wouldn't be quick nor quiet, thus requiring him to do so before whatever task he needs his strength for. Not to mention the fact that the longer he has stayed in his true form, the longer it will take him to gain the energy required to turn once more.

I'm writing a CS that'll explain further, and let you decide.

Okay, so here's the WIP.

Name: Anselm Dunn
Gender: Male
Age: 2214, born in 200 BC. As human, he appears to be in his seventies.
Type: Giant of Albion
Appearance: Human form and giant form. As human, Dunn looks like an aging man. He appears scrawny and weak, yet retains enough of his true strength to overcome any human. He has long, wispy grey hair that does little to protect his scalp and features cold, blue-green eyes. His youthful posture with a straight, nearly arched back and stern gaze is a starch contrast to his otherwise frail appearance, but tells true tales of a man far quicker and stronger in both body and mind than a first look might have it.

In giant form, Dunn measures an astounding 10 cubits (4,8 meters); a measurement second only to Gogmagog among Albion's giants, as far as Dunn is aware. His hair is darker and thicker, albeit his receiding harline still evident, and his facial futures more pronounced in comparison to his human one, and not in a good way. Simply put; Dunn is one ugly bastard. Nevertheless, his body is immense and muscular, looking every bit as powerful as it is.

Powers/Traits: A healthy endurance and supernatural strength as "human". While he appears to be human, Dunn isn't entirely human even when in the shape of one. He retains some of his heritage, being capable of feats of strength far grander than any human, yet not even in the vicinity of, say, a werewolf.

As a giant, however, Dunn possess strength few creatures known to this world can match. He may squash both natural and supernatural beings alike if they let themselves get caught in his rather impressive reach, is immune to sickness and is capable of taking beatings even worse than the ones he may dish out.
Even so, Dunn is far from invincible. While quick for his size, he is still slow compared to other creatures, and he has no magical capabilities of any sort.

His fighting used to be ferocious but simple and predictable, and his natural aggression often impaired tactical and/or strategical thinking. As Dunn grew more and more accustomed to humanity, however, he found his own thinking biased by it. In terms of combat, it has arguably been to Dunn's favour. He has grown patient ove the years, and his fighting has evolved. He carries himself with far greater measure and is a far greater threat than any giant was twothousand years ago.

Interestingly enough, no giant of Albion ever lived long enough to die of age, which means no one knows exactly how old they get. Dunn is already much older than any other giant ever lived to be, and the fact that his human form has aged into it's seventies suggests Dunn may reach the end of the line soon enough. If that is because of natural aging or because of the curse weakening him, however, is anyone's guess.

Background: Born on the northern shores of Albion (modern day Great Britain, Scotland to be precise), Dunn's birthname has been left to history. He was brought up among the small population of giants on the island. The giants had lived alone for many thousand years on Albion, yet Dunn did not even reach adulthood before foreign humans landed on the island in the form of Brutus of Troy and his fellow Trojans. The giants severely underestimated the tiny humans, believing the huge difference in size and strength enough to determine the winner. The humans proved far more schooled in combat however, employing superior tactics and numbers on the field of battle. Eventually, the leader of the giants - Gogmagog - was defeated in one-on-one combat by Corineus, the most prominent warrior among the Trojans. This marked the ultimate morale defeat of the giants and led to their extinction.

Well, to the extinction of all but one of them. Dunn and a few other giants had fled once the tide of combat had turned, swimming across the North Sea. Dunn was the only one who survived the swim, eventually reaching what is now called Norway. There, he made a new home for himself among the mountains and fjords. He stayed for many hundred years, until increasing contacts with vikings made him rip up his roots and once again resettle.

After this, he would come in contact with both humans and other supernatural beings more and more as the Earth's population continued to rise and spread out. Due to his aggressive nature, Dunn often found himself at odds with both parties, eventually trying to relocate back to his native Albion in 1045, now England, before ultimately being hunted down by the legendary wizard Merlin - or so the story would have it. Whatever really happened, a curse was placed on Dunn turning him into what he despised the most - a human.

As stubborn as any giant, Dunn refused to give up on his ancestry and vowed both to lift the curse and exact vengeance. At first living as a hermite, Dunn would gradually integrate into both the supernatural and human society, gaining knowledge about both worlds in his attempts to find a solution. Giants have a long and good memory, and Dunn's factual knowledge grew increasingly large, as did his logical thinking and reasoning. While hardly a smart human, Dunn came to be a genius among giants. During the renaissance, Dunn finally made a breakthrough in his research, and while he wasn't capable of lifting the curse, he managed to weaken it. Since then, Dunn has been able to turn back into a giant at regular, short intervals. Furthermore, he has been getting stronger and more durable as a human, to the point where it's clear that his heritage has "slipped" into humanity, granting him supernatural strength and endurance.

In the 1800's Dunn happened to chance across a couple of operators of the Bain & Hoyle Company while in his true form, something the other party reacted violently to. After laying waste to his enemies, a sole survivor managed to escape and contact the company, provoking an investigation into this supposedly extinct giant.Soon enough, the Company learned of Dunn and his history, and intrigued by his potential and fully developed communicational skills, Dunn was offered a position within the Company. Since then, Dunn has been paired with more intellectual individuals, something that has been very much a success story.

I am very much still interested in joining in this roleplay, especially if there is this much interest and everyone stays for the duration.

I just wanted to know if you thought a druid would fit into the story. By druid I mean the can control the elements, commune with all plants and animals type of character.
Maybe even going so far as to make him the medical expert for the team if there is not already one coming out of the woodwork.

If the idea of a druid sounds alright I will continue with the character sheet I have started.
If not then I will have to come up with another character.
