Yo, dating sims are awesome, I don't care what anyone says. I just never got into Huniepop because I'm bad at puzzle games.

I've been playing a lot of Xenoblade Chronicles X since it came out friday. Reminds me a lot of witcher 3 and fallout 4, being an open world game. Not sure how they story is, but the characters are pretty fun. World is also massive. Bigger than witcher 3, fallout 4, or skyrim. Is so much you can do in the game. Also looked to see if there are any bugs in the game, but this seems to be none. Pretty impressive for how big the game is. Granted Monolift Soft is good developer and very rarely do you see bugs in nintendo games.

I've been playing a lot of Star Wars Battlefront, which is pretty uncommon for me. Normally I'm not one for first person shooters, but Battlefront has certainly got me hooked..and I must say, I'm not half bad. I think the main reason I got hooked was that nostalgia. I wasn't the biggest fan of Star Wars as a child, but my brother absolutely loved it so it kinda grew on me a tad. However, Battlefront encouraged me to watch the movies again, at an age that I can actually comprehend everything, and thanks to that I'm obsessed. Oops.

My usual genre usually sticks pretty close to Nintendo games, mostly Pokemon and Mario. A couple Xbox games, a few PlayStation games with good stories, Etc.

Also, anyone remember Bomberman? That game was and remains amazing.

I agree with @Kieran, I stick close to Nintendo games as well, such as Fire Emblem and Pokemon.

Right now, however, I'm playing Bravely Default--which is a very beautiful game!! I love the ost, as well as the artistic scenery. The style is pretty unique, as are the game mechanics and the characters really pop out to me, most likely because there are four playable characters--which I have no problem with. I'm not that far in, as I've only just reached Florem. But I love it nonetheless.

Holy hell, that's a thing?
I was talking about the classic PlayStation version, but hell, I'll have to check that one out.

Just be careful doing later on in Bravely Default. Won't spoil, but do stuff that makes it kind of hard to finish the game.

Meh. Wandering into this section for a bit...

We're playing Talisman: The Magical Quest Game these days. Fun game. Not the most demanding of a computer, but doesn't make it boring.

D&D style adventuring, with the computer-mixed card stacks serving as DM, all placed onto a boardgame style board.

How important is it for people here to collect achievements ingame?

Been currently mostly playing The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth (as per usual, with my near 400 hours into Rebirth and Afterbirth). I'm awful at it but I'm still addicted to it, for some reason.
Recently bought Rampage Knights, a 2D roguelite brawler. Looks ugly as hell and controls are kind of clunky, but still manages to be quite a lot of fun.
Still trying to muster up the enthusiasm and time to play through Far Cry 3. Every time I try to finish that game, I get sidetracked and lose interest because I've been running around killing random patrols for two hours straight for no apparent reason.
And also just got back into Tribes: Ascend since they supposedly rebalanced everything and such. Automatic weapons are still BS.

Going to be attending an all-night gaming session of CS:GO, Flatout, Battlefront, Battlefield 1942 etc with some friends some time during the holidays at Inferno Online in Stockholm, who boast to be "the world's largest gaming centre". Going from 10pm to 8am. Should be absolutely miserable by the time we're done.

It depends on the game. If it's a game with a narrative or some form of linearity, not important at all. If it's a roguelite like The Binding of Isaac, I become a bit obsessive with unlocking everything. Then again, most achievements in The Binding of Isaac are related to unlocking new content - so there's that. If it's a multiplayer game like CS:GO, sometimes I start achievement hunting - but most of the time I just play for fun.

We find those achievements of the "do the entire game again, only on ludicrous difficulty"-type to be quite annoying.

Its much more fun with achievements based on funny combos or easter eggs or other unusual circumstances. Collect n elven left ears is a decent one. Chop down an entire orcish horde while wearing a blindfold, a loincloth and wielding a red herring isn't.

I certainly hope it's okay to revive this thread.

In any case, I've been playing shit on my ps2 emulator. Great stuff. Specifically, I've been doing;

Seek and Destroy, a 2kawaii4u tank combat game where they're sentient and do stuff. Really shit, but endearing somehow.

Naval Ops: Warhship Gunner. GREAT game. You're a ww2 officer of your selected country (I picked glorious americaland. USA, USA!), who got teleported across space and time into an alternate earth where you gotta take out an evil empire. You can customize the fuck out of your ship, which is awesome. Oh, and even though it's mostly ww2, you can find laser cannons and launch f-22's from your ship if you want. Weird shit.

Armored Core 2/Another Age: BEST. BEST. BEST. These games were my life back when they were out. Literally amazing. You're this dude who pilots a super-customizeable mecha on mars/earth, and you gotta save the planet/make loads of money respectively. Great shit. Story is solid, gameplay is sexy, 10/10.

And on my comp (steam anyway), I've mostly been playing From The Depths. It's sorta kind of like minecraft, but crossed with Mount and Blade: Warband, twenty-minutes-in-the-future tech level, and set on a planet that's like 95% water. Much better then it sounds. I've been building UFO's and trying to make a proper, manly battleship.
