Everett hadn't called for Dags for seemed like hours. He was still bleeding and getting tired, on the plus side of things he was starting to sober up.

Rain beating down from the trees made it hard to tell just how much blood he had lost. Between the alcohol and rain he could only hope it wasn't as bad it seemed to be.

He gave thought to trying to find a place to sleep, and continue his search for Dags in the daylight hours. He was starting what time it was. That and a hundred other questions where in his mind.

He knew deep down that Dags would be okay. He was a wolf after all. Dags was reliant in Everett for many things, but wasn't to say Dags couldn't take care of himself. Knowing that didn't lessen the worry at all. The panic maybe but not the worry.

His hand had quit glowing sometime ago, he didn't know how long it was but he damn sure didn't want to find out what the limits of his powers were here. Not in these conditions, not like this.

Trudging along he heard a voice off in the distance. He knew that voice… was it… Tessa?
“TESSA!” Everett paused for a moment before rushing to where he heard the voice.

“Tessa, thank goodness, what's… ahh shit. “Any sort of excitement was dead the moment he saw Mal and Grant hunched over Dani. Everett had no idea what was going on. He instantly assume the worst, but if he was completely honest, all he could think about was if that was Dags and not Dani. Everett felt horrible about the thought but, Dags was all he had.

“I hope yalls doin some Romeo and Juliette shit and this is a right good time to say alas poor Yorick I knew him Horatio.” Everett said wincing in pain as he held his bleeding head.

Olivia enjoyed the party. It all fun and games, and alcoholic beverages were free for all that enjoyed it. They were not their type, and Grant and her had juices. Throughout the entire party, she had been stuck to her new boyfriend like glue, inseparable, and she was glad for it, as he led her around Everett's house. The party was also where she had her second kiss, although this one was different from the rest. As she was about to get a plate of finger food for them to share, smiling to Grant as she saw him, she tripped on the end of a rug, falling face first onto Grant, sending them both crashing to the ground. Her lips landed on his nose and soon the food followed. Olivia blushed a deep crimson, horribly embarrassed by the whole ordeal. She quickly got up and picked away the pieces of food from Grant's face, before extending a hand to get him up. Both of them then had a good laugh about it, as it was indeed really funny. However, the party only went downhill from there. She witnessed King running off into the woods suddenly without warning, but the surprise of that was overwritten by Jade yelling all of a sudden.

With her yells and screams, came the earthquakes. The ground began shake, as a multitude of fissure appeared on the ground. The ground actually split open, and that's when the party-goers started adding in screams of their own and ran for their lives. Olivia followed Grant as he tugged her along, not having any idea as to where they were even heading to as well. However, her memory ended there. She woke up face down, body aching as she struggled to get up. As she inspected her body for any injuries, she saw several bruises on her arms and legs. She was sure she had more as well, as her back hurt as well. As she stumbled to her feet, first thing she noticed was, no Grant. Olivia felt horribly disorientated and confused. The last thing she remembered was holding his hand and running off into the woods. Taking several steps forward, she shouted out "Grant? Are you there?" Pivoting her head around from side to side, still no Grant. She began to sob as she stared at the darkness of the woods. She was frightened, confused and lonely. And her body ached and hurt.

"Grant..Where are you??...Geeee..Can you hear me?!"

He still couldn’t believe it. Even after she had started to form words out of her mouth and looked around, Grant couldn’t believe that DanI was alive. There was, in no way, she was out of the danger zone, but the fact that Malcolm had saved her life brought such joy to his heart. When Grant had set Dani’s head on the ground softly, he found himself giving Malcolm an unexpected hug. It was light, but noticeable. “Thank you,” he said gratefully, the translucent tears falling down his eyes and landing on Malcolm’s neck. Grant released the hug and went back down to Dani, smiling at her.

“I’m alive?” Dani confusingly asked, echoing Grant. “What do you mean?” She asked.

“I, uh,” Grant paused, looking around, “I found you here. You had a piece of wood lodged into your throat. If it wasn’t for Malcolm, you would have died.” He told her. Dani looked at him with an even more confused look on her face.

“How did he?”

“Dani, I’ll tell you all about it later. All that matters is that you’re alive.” He hugged her lightly. Dani simply smiled.

When Grant held Dani close to him, he heard two familiar voices call out around the same time. One was closer and that was Tessa’s. She found them and asked if everyone was alright. Grant was going to answer, but then he heard the second voice call out again, this time in a familiar nickname. It was one he was given by a certain blonde girlfriend of his. Grant instantly propped up, setting Dani head down gently. “You guys wait here, I think I hear Olivia.” Grant said, leaving without so much as waiting for a response.

Grant probably walked no more than ten yard and soon the sight of Olivia came to him. She was covered in bruises and looked scared beyond belief. “OLIVIA!“ Grant, despite his still half-broken, half-bruised arm, went over to her in a sprint. He took to a stop just a few feet away from her, and hugged her. “I’m so glad you’re safe. I was so worried. When I found Dani..I wasn’t sure what happened to you, but you’re alive.” His voice, though muffled because his mouth was buried in her golden locks and her shirt, was filled with such jubilance that he could hardly contain himself.

Grant probably spent maybe almost a minute hugging his girlfriend until he brought their eyes to a gaze. “The others — they’re a about thirty feet or so that way.“ Grant said, pointing to the direction behind him. “I don’t know what’s happening, but we should get back. I need to get back to Dani and Tess is probably worried. Malcolm is there too, he save her. And Everett showed up too.” Grant was frantically rambling. His mind was racing all around. He was glad that Olivia was safe, but his mind was still stuck in that fearful state of when he found Dani. “Come on!” Grant, without even stopping his rapid thought pace, pulled Olivia’s arm with his only good one and ran back to where he remembered running to. It wouldn’t be long until he saw the group and rejoined them.

The next outburst came as a surprise to Scout, and she dodged to the side just as a fissure broke through where she had been standing. Jay’s screams faded into white noise as Scout hit the earth that tilted down directly into the forest behind, and as branches clattered down from above she held herself in the fetal position and withheld a scream of panic. Thanks to her stress-made shields, however, she sustained little damage from the trees above. The ground beneath her, however, seemed to crumble and shift slightly from the tremors and added weight, and Scout felt her throat betray her as she wound up tumbling down the hill, crashing through undergrowth and tall grass until she collided with the side of a tree. Her right ankle snapped against a log beside the tree, letting out a sickening crack as her body settled messily on the roots below.

Pain filled her body, and the small teen sucked in deep breathes in order to fill her lungs and force herself back onto her feet. Jade was still screaming, and the earth rocked with each stomp of her foot, leaving Scout little time to limp towards the others before another shake threw her off balance. Landing on her hip, Scout let out a loud, pain-ridden scream, throwing wild and unsure glances over her shoulder. Jade appeared in threes at first as Scout felt her eyes shake and water in fear, and in one last desperate effort to calm down the girl Scout shrieked,

“Stop it!”

Taking only a moment to catch her breath, Scout once again got up and began trudging towards the others, sweat and blood and dirt freely coating her arms and face and clothes. She kneaded at a sore spot on her head, wincing as she felt warmness seep onto her hands, and her chest heaved with a mixture of fear and exhaustion. Whatever calmness she held before had faded into a small light, and all she wanted to do was cling to another sane person and pass out. They were so far though, Scout could barely see them within the shade of the forest, but her eyes were sharp enough to see their stiff, huddled shadows and her ears easily picked up on their desperate cries despite the grinding earth. The added lightning managed to help outline their shapes, and Scout wasn't sure if nature was trying to help her out, or get her killed.

As she closed in the space between herself and the others, Scout felt the hair on the back of her neck rise, and heat suddenly filled the air. Glancing back, her mouth fell open in shock as she saw light glimmer from the fissures made by Jade. Lava, that had to be lava! Scout thought that she was simply some kind of earthquake-maker, but no, she was using lava to cause this wreckage. Scout stumbled slightly as another tremor curled the earth around her, and she grabbed onto the closest tree in an effort to steady herself. The others were so far already, and Scout winced as she realized she was still in earshot of Jade’s wild screams. Not good.

curse these short legs

Scout pushed herself off the tree and, despite the fact that her ankle might be sprained or worse, broke out into a labored sprint. Her breathing quickly became detached and hoarse as she felt her leg tremble and burn with each hard step she took, and she tried her best to call out to the others but her throat was raw with misuse. Scout broke through the woods quickly, ignoring the fact that the undergrowth and low-hanging branches were tugging at her clothes and face, sending long, red scratches across her bare flesh.

She wasn’t sure if she was crying or not, her face was already drenched with sweat, and the cut on her head spilled messily over her right eye, half-blinding her in a sticky veil of red. She thoughtlessly rubbed at her face, trying to clear her vision, and as she did so her bad foot twisted awkwardly on a few unsteady rocks, causing a blinding-white pain to fill her body.

Scout stumbled and shrieked, though instead of falling flat on her face she shot her hands forward and picked herself right back up, ignoring the sudden sharp feeling of pebbles and twigs digging into her palms. Her sprint shifted into a zombie-limp, but she tried her best to keep up whatever speed she had retained. Jade was now much farther behind, and Scout felt as though heaven was blessing her for once as she saw the backs of her friends not too far ahead of her.

Glancing at the state of the others, she thought against calling out for help, and instead gripped her bad leg with both her hands. Using the added support, she once again quickened her limping pace, ignoring the fact that her lungs were currently on fire and her head pulsated like a beating heart. Scout just wanted to get away, to safety, and her aching body wasn’t going to stop her. Instinctual fear burned in her chest, blocking out any wishes of staying calm and collected, and Scout merely had one thought in mind.

Alicia looked up at her girlfriend and watched as her girlfriend summoned up an umbrella made out of water, and watched and felt as the rain water from her hair, clothes and skin was added to it as well doing the same for herself. She looked down at her clothes and saw that they were completely dry now. "I guess you can dry quicker now after your swim meets and practices." Alicia said softly as she grunted slightly as she was lifted up into Kat's arms, and carried over towards the others she watched as Katalina extended the water umbrella towards the rest of the group.

Alicia looked down at Austin seeing him going into a full mental breakdown hearing him muttering about Tessa and that he couldn't find her anywhere. "Austin, Tessa is a strong girl i'm sure that shes okay." Alicia said trying to cheer him up as best as she could, then looked over to see Scout making her way towards Jade trying to calm her down. For a moment the shaking seemed to stop, maybe Scout had gotten through to her friend. “YOU’RE NOT GOING ANYWHERE!” Just like that Jade yelled again and stomped her foot onto the ground, the earth started to quake worse then before. Alicia looked at the ground in horror as she noticed something started to glow out of the ground, then came the intense heat, and knew that it was the magma coming out of the ground.

Alicia looked up at her girlfriend as she felt something wet and warm drip down onto her cheek and noticed Kat's nose was starting to bleed from the use of her ability. "We have to run now!" Alicia yelled loudly as she tried to get out of Kat's arms, knowing that by carrying her she would only slow Kat down and drapped her left arm for support instead and held onto her girlfriend as tight as she could.

Alicia started limping dragging her right leg across the ground, pain surging through like wild fire she was groaning her vision was getting blurred from the pain. She looked over her shoulder as she witnessed Scout tripping and falling down onto the ground, watching her friend starting to fall behind the rest of the group, before slowly catching up to them.

Tessa said hi to Everett, watched her cousin run off toward Olivia. In the meanwhile she knelt beside Dani, her other cousin. “Yeah I think Grant is exaggerating a bit. I think you were just knocked out a bit, and you know how head wounds bleed like crazy.” She gave Dani a reassuring smile. Then looked toward Mal, he had a power after all. He could heal. That was neat. Also it explained why King didn’t look like he had had his ass kicked by Jay yesterday.

Her head spun as Alice came into the small area the group had gathered in. She was freaked out, understandable, she was saying something about someone chasing her. Tessa reached out to take her hand, hoping it’d be reassuring. Just as she had some force pushed her away from most of the group of friends. She lost her footing again, as she stood up there were plants appearing before them, splitting the group in half.

The vines were nasty looking, and surrounding them. “Everett get the others to the street, to town. Cut the vines if you can.” Tessa cried out, and turned to Alice. “Take a deep breath.” For as calm as her voice sounded, her heart was pounding. The new spike of adrenaline was not helping. Fear coursed through her veins. Damn why did she get such a shity power. The ability to light stuff on fire right now would be welcomed.

She looked between the others in her group. Mal looked like he was about to drop. Alice decidedly was freaked out, she looked as freaked out as Tessa felt if she was honest. Grant had his arm to worry about. Tessa took a deep breath and carefully tried to push her way through the vines. Her hands and arms quickly became cut up.

Her mom was going to kill her if she survived this.

Kata’s head was pounded and more blood was trickling down from her nose, and she could barely make out what was being said. Jay was yelling, Scout was yelling, Jade was yelling, Austin was crying, Ash was trying to comfort Austin, maybe? She couldn’t tell anymore who was who. Her vision was blurred but she soon realized that Jade was about to go all Krakatau on them. She didn’t realized that Alicia had slipped out of her arms, and was about to protest at Alicia until another angry throb went through her head and she lost all grips on her powers.

The water umbrella came falling down, drenching any of the teenagers that had been left in the area, as well as the ground around them, and the lava. She grabbed onto Alicia and looked at her. ”We’re gonna get out of here babe… even if it kills me.” She muttered under her breath as she supported Ali, who was also supporting her.

As they tried to run/ limp, Kata didn’t realized that Scout had fallen behind them, more focused on trying to make sure that she and Ali made it away from Jade’s radius of magma. She gripped onto Ali more and whimpered, her head still throbbing in anger. The nosebleed had seemed to stop, for the moment, as they continued away from the angry Jade.

Nina was glad for the momentary reprieve of rain, thanks to Katalina. However, it didn’t seem to last too long as Jade stormed into the area. She looked about ready to pull a Mt Saint Helens and just explode. Nina could feel the heat rising from the magma. Something in it was calling to her. Maybe the destructive nature of it, and the fires it could cause. Her hand twitched on her lighter as she looked up at Jade. ”You don’t want to do this Jade! We’re not your enemy! Hell some of us here are you friends!” While it wasn’t true of her, she knew Alicia and Ash were friendly with her.

However, inwardly everything was yelling at Nina to run, but her legs refused to get up. Even when Jay dragged Austin off the ground and away she stayed right there. ”Můj Bože…” This was how she was going to die. To lava. Of all the things in the world to cut her miserable life short, it was going to be lava. She never saw that coming.

Then flashes of Tess and Petyr came before her eyes. NO. She would not die here. She would not leave them alone. She pulled herself up and looked at Jade and then to Ash, and tugged on him. ”We need to get out of here Ash, just like Jay said. C’mon!” She tugged on his arm more, and tried to get him up. The heat was no longer bothering her, and she barely noticed that the rain was once again pouring on her, all she knew was that she and Ash had to get away from Jade, just like everyone else already had.

Figures of red running, muffled sounds of what seemed like words — that’s mostly what Jade heard. In front of her were people heading for what looked like woods or a forest. She couldn’t be sure. Jade couldn’t sure of what she saw, be it friend, foe, something in-between. Almost everyone and everything that seemed to reach out to her or that would alert someone else under duress was simply white noise to her. The only ones she seemed to be able to hear clearly were those that she had fixated most of her attacks on. The words of Jay, urging the shadows to run was heard by her as if a loud speaker was being played in her ears. She saw Katalina next to a shadow, looking fearful. Then the words of a certain dark-haired, red jacket-wearing female called out to Jade. The blonde’s head turned towards her, eying her. Jade’s eyes were blood-shot red, and her teeth were gritting against each other. “Friends..” Jade simply said, her voice eerie.

Taking one step forward, Jade froze, her head starting to give unimaginable pain. She saw …images of someone. No, not just someone, it was more than just one person; she saw several people in front of her. Again, the red started to fade. For a moment, she saw the wreckage around her. Jade’s eyes widened. What happened around her? Who had caused it? As she asked herself those questions, she then looked at those who were looking at her. They were looking at her as if she was fear itself. She saw Scout on the ground, Katalina and Alicia nearby, Jay holding Austin, and Nina was next to Ash.

Jade looked behind her, seeing that what was left of the party had been wiped out. She didn’t know what happened. Jade had no clue how it happened. She remembered just dancing and suddenly being in such a blind rage that all she saw was red. Jade didn’t like this. Gripping her head as her hands covered her ears and her eyes widened, Jade out a fearful scream, Jade fell to her knees. The only sight she seemed to have was the very ground that she was uncertain how it got that way. “Please..make it stop..” Jade cried out lowly. “I don’t want to--” Jade was cut off by something.

She was shaking her head, as if trying to fight off what was happening to her, but she couldn’t. Soon Jade’s view of the ground was going away. The clarity of the brown and green of the ground was soon becoming hazed by an overlay of crimson red. The vividness of a clear mind was suddenly gone and Jade’s previous wrathful self emerged once again.

“You are no friend of mine, Jelen!” Jade’s blood-shot red eyes went to Nina, a death glare meeting her. “I did nothing to you and yet you always looked at me with such a look of superiority. What makes you think you’re any better than me? Just because you’re not called the town slut, you think that gives you the right to look down on me!?” A wave of emotions that have long since been buried came to the surface as if Jade’s words themselves have become like the lava she started to bring through the cracked earth. “And you, Hunter! You broke my heart, stomped on it, and you took everyone away from me too.” Jade stepped forward, eyes falling on the red figure that resembled Alicia and Katalina, the one that hurt the most. “And then there’s you, Hargrave,” Jade’s body turned slightly, aiming it at Kat, “you’re the one that hurt the most. You came out of nowhere. You had no kind of previous connection to us and yet you ended up befriending MY best friend. You ended up taking HER attention away from ME! You’re going to make her forget all about me and I’ll end up all alone! That won’t happen — that CAN’T happen!”

What had to be going through her mind? All these years of Jade holding all of this in, finally it was being let out; all of the pain from being looked down upon, all of the heartbreak she felt from Jay dumping her, and to the fear of losing Alicia to Katalina — everything was being poured out for everyone to hear it. And she was just getting started. Jade disregarded everyone else. Her entire attention was undivided. It wasn’t split between everyone else. As much as she was livid with Jay and Nina, the one that Jade had all of this hatred and anger for was at the redhead beside her best friends.

With a raise of her arms, Jade commanded the magma to rise even faster. She willed it to do as she commanded. Though it would come with the cost of her nose starting to bleed, the magma came as if it were self-aware and sensed Jade’s intentions. It came above surface level. A wave of it started to fly forth Katalina — and by extension — Alicia. It came at both of them fast(as Jade forced herself to made it so, with the cost of her eyes and nose bleeding). If nothing wasn’t done fast, both Alicia and Katalina would burn alive.

Grant was relieved to see everyone, including Alice too.

When he and Olivia joined everyone, there was a wave of happiness that set in with Grant. Even though they weren’t exactly safe, there was at least strength in numbers. With his girlfriend, his sister, his sister’s savior, his cousin, a dear friend, and someone who could protect them, Grant felt safe. Even more to the point, he felt confident that they would be able to get past anything as long as they remained together as a group.

Well, that was until something forced them apart.

Grant didn’t even see it coming. It was like, one minute he was smiling, holding his girlfriend’s hand as tight as he could, and the next minute, thick vines forced them into groups of four. Grant screamed out to the top of his lungs; he screamed for DanI; he screamed for Olivia; he screamed for the strength that came with being in a group. Unfortunately, those screams were in vain. Grant was, along with Tessa, Alice, and Malcolm, separate from everyone else. What was worse for Grant was that he was without Olivia or his sister by his side

“OLIVIA! DANI!” Granted screamed at the top of his lungs, hoping that the sound of his voice. As great as it was, Grant hoped it would be enough to break the vines. But it wasn’t. He wasn’t able to do a damned thing. The vines were spiked, so he couldn’t pound on it, hoping to wear it down. If he were to pound on them, he would only hurt his only good arm.

Grant didn’t know how to fully use his power. He didn’t even understand it. Even if he did, would he be able to do? Would he be able to force the vines open just by repelling it? He just didn’t understand it. When the fear and panic set in, Grant began to breathe heavily and started to pace back and forth. “We have to get out of here,” he mumbled to himself over and over again.

Scout turned wildly as she heard Jade’s voice grow closer, eyes quickly catching the wiry girl’s figure against the rainy forest backdrop. Red-orange gleamed low within the man-made cracks in the earth, burning hot with something Scout had never seen in person, and as Jade’s voice rose in volume the lights grew brighter and closer. Scout turned back towards the others, pulling her bad leg along roughly as she cried out for them to keep running, and then in the corner of her eye she saw it. The moving mass of red-hot goo, lava. It looked much grittier than Scout expected, more black than red, but she could see lighter colors within as it burned through the forest and slowly crawled towards the others. Her gaze quickly switched to where Jade was staring, and she felt her mouth fall open as she realized who the crazed girl was after. Katalina.

“Kata– Katalina!” Scout’s voice was hoarse and her throat ached with rawness. She wasn’t sure if it reached the two girls, but that didn’t matter. The only thing on Scout’s mind was protection. Those two were going to die if she didn’t help them. Scout cried out Katalina’s name again, though it sounded more like a pained croak, and with sudden inspiration she burst into another sprint. She closed the space between herself and the two other girls quickly, though she practically fell on her face once or twice trying to get over, and without a second thought she planted herself unsteadily in front of them.

Her ankle was pulsating, the heat around her was almost unbearable, but perhaps it was for the better. With her mind frayed by panic and fear, Scout found that forming her shields was simple, as if stress was the main producer of her power. Scout pulled both her hands back, wobbling slightly as she tried to balance most of her weight of her good ankle, and she felt her fingers burn with energy. Moving fast, Scout brought her hands quickly together until her wrists painful collided, and as she did a large, glimmering wall of blue formed. It grew as Scout shut her eyes and concentrated, and it curled at the edges in an effort to catch and hold the slow-moving danger in front of her.

Pain bloomed again, not from her aching body though, but from her mind. A migraine formed quicker then she would have expected, but her face failed to falter. She was too focused on the distorted scene in front of her. Jade stood far behind the flow of lava, but still Scout could see her twisted face, her heaving chest, and her wild movements. The rumble of the earth below her feet was all in sync with Jade’s maddened mind, and Scout felt compelled to cry out to her friend again but as she opened her mouth to scream the lava finally collided with the wall. Scout grunted, not expecting to feel a sensation of weight fill her out spread hands, and her feet slid back considerably against the wave that was pushing against her shield.

Scout was screaming, she wasn’t sure why anymore though. Her mind was blank, full of white noise and the color red, and her body felt numb and senseless, but still her mouth was open and she was screaming. Perhaps it was the fact that her ankle had begun to twist due to the added force of holding back the river of lava, or maybe it was because she could taste the blood that was spilling from her nose like a stream, but still Scout couldn’t be sure. Maybe… She was just scared. Scared of dying here, like this, without being able to let the others escape.

“Ghh, ugh, someone–” She threw a slow, unsteady glance over her shoulder, fingers curling slightly as the lava pushed her back a bit more, “stop… Jade, please? Can’t h-hold–!” Her voice turned into a loud shriek as she was pushed even further back, and by now her hands were burning hot and gleaming a bright blue. The lava had begun to rise as it congregated against Scout’s shield, and though she had curved the ends to try and keep it from slipping passed her protective measures she couldn’t help but see that the more lava that pooled down the more likely it would be to overflow.

how do you stop lava

Scout tried to focus, tried to see passed the fear in her mind. She needed a plan, something to rely on, but for that to form she needed focus. Shutting her eyes tight, Scout let out a breath, trying to ignore the world and chaos around her in an effort to formulate something, anything, to get them out of this situation. A sudden push brought her back to reality though, and Scout blinked open her eyes in panic as she felt something in her begin to shatter. Break. Glancing at her force field she gasped, eyebrows knitting together as she saw the faint lines begin to form where the lava was colliding with the blue shield.

Panicking slightly, Scout pushed her mind to the limit, attempting to both strengthen and grow the force field, but she was already almost at her limit. Her body was heaving, trying to calm itself though her mind was blaring with anxiety, and her vision was split and wavering. Whatever pain she felt before was nothing compared to the state of her head, and she slowly began to sway against the heat and rain. Slowly and with a bit of hesitation, Scout lowered herself down onto one knee, gasping in relief as she got the weight off her bad ankle, and she turned her head again slightly, eyes wide and wet with tears and rain,

“J-Jay…” She called hoarsely, arms trembling with exhaustion and pain, “lava… Jay, Ali, KaAA–SOMEONE!” Scout’s yelling was unfamiliar, foreign, she rarely let her voice rise above a whisper, but in this case she couldn’t be bothered to speak normally. “Stop the lava now. Water…? Would that work? Moving Jade? We gotta, YOU gott–AAAGH!” Her body contorted as a sudden ache bloomed from her hip, seemingly coming from nowhere. Was this another side effect of using her power? Stunned into silence, Scout returned her gaze to Jade, wet her lips once, and then she cried out,

“Wake up! Please, Jade!”

A force he couldn't see or hear forced Everett back. He was caught so off guard by what happened he ended up face down in the mud.

“FUCK!!” Everett shouted with a face cover in mud and blood and who knows what else. A word that came from the pain of banging his head off the ground. A few moans of pain accompanied him roll over to a sitting position. Shock, disappointment and an overall sense of bewilderment, struck him when he saw they were now surrounded thorny vines. Shit they could pass for demonic tree trunks.

"Well, anyone got any ideas?" Everett said trying to get the mud outta his wound. If it didn't get infected, it was gonna be a miracle. Hell, if they survived at all it was gonna be a miracle.

Alicia looked over at her girlfriend and kissed her on the cheek lovingly, and looked at her girlfriend lovingly. "No one is going to die here in these woods, okay love?" Alicia said as she turned to hear Jade's voice again. “Please..make it stop.. I don’t want to--” Alicia stopped to look over her shoulder at her best friend Jade, she heard that small break in her friend's wrathful voice and stopped that's then she knew that Jade her closest friend was still in there somewhere. Alicia knew she would never hurt her or any of her friends, eve if she did have her little outbursts of anger Alicia knew that this person behind them was controlling Jade somehow.

“You are no friend of mine, Jelen! I did nothing to you and yet you always looked at me with such a look of superiority. What makes you think you’re any better than me? Just because you’re not called the town slut, you think that gives you the right to look down on me!? And you, Hunter! You broke my heart, stomped on it, and you took everyone away from me too. And then there’s you, Hargrave you’re the one that hurt the most. You came out of nowhere. You had no kind of previous connection to us and yet you ended up befriending MY best friend. You ended up taking HER attention away from ME! You’re going to make her forget all about me and I’ll end up all alone! That won’t happen — that CAN’T happen!”

Alicia looked among the group of her friends that were around them, whatever or whoever had control over Jade was using her anger against all of them. She stood there frozen in place seeing Jade summoning a large thing of lava out of the ground. She was frozen in fear as it came directly towards her and Katalina. Was this how she was going to die, by the hands of her best friend using her ability against Alicia and be buried and burned alive like the people of Pompeii? Just as Alicia closed her eyes she felt a sudden wave of heat over her, but then a glowing bright blue light filled her vision.

“Ghh, ugh, someone– stop… Jade, please? Can’t h-hold–!” Alicia opened up her eyes seeing Scout in front of them protecting her and Katalina, she didn't know that Scout had an ability like she did as well. She looked around the surrounding area if there was anything that could help, she felt completely useless she couldn't use her ability due to the lack of metal around here. Alicia kissed Katalina once more on the lips deeply and lovingly looking at her girlfriend. "I know you are in a lot of pain right now my love.. but I want you to use your ability on the magma, that will quickly cool that rock." Alicia said looking over towards Scout seeing her now down onto her knees now. "Thank you, Scout.. just hold out for a long as you can." Alicia said.

Jade was most likely not going to listen to anything that the others said, maybe she would be more then willing to listen to her in stead. Alicia slowly started to limp forward away from Scout and her girlfriend. "Ash wait up, I want to try something!" Alicia said wincing it felt like her whole leg was on fire as she slowly started to make her way towards Jade, seeing the red in her friend's eyes as well as the bloody nose. Maybe if she could convince her best friend to calm down

"Jade! This is not you at all, please stop!" Alicia yelled she yelled as she slowly managed to make her way further and slightly closer towards Jade. "Please just calm down, no one is here to harm you.." Alicia said softly as tears started to flow down her face she started to approach Ashton and leaned herself up against him for support.

Katalina could barely register the words the she heard. Something from Jade about how she had stolen Alicia away? It didn’t make sense… She and Ali had been friends for years. She wanted to yell at Jade, tell her how she wanted to be friends with the younger girl, but her head was throbbing, and her vision was blurring. She could feel the heat of the lava rushing towards her, and she knew it, it was all over.

Then Scout, brave Scout, ran in and shielded Alicia and Kata. There was a god, or something. Maybe a flying pile of spaghetti? Who knew. However, all Katalina knew was that Scout had bought them some time. Then Alicia spoke. "I know you are in a lot of pain right now my love.. but I want you to use your ability on the magma, that will quickly cool that rock." Kata kissed Alicia back briefly and nodded.

Before she did anything, she turned to Jay. ”Jay, after I do this, you need to teleport Scout and me the fuck out of dodge. I’m not going to be in any shape to move.” She held her hands out in front of her, and for a moment the rain seemed to pause around her. Her eyes focused on the beads of water in the air around her, before she moved her hands again. The water shot forth and washed over the lava.

The sound of the water hitting the lava made a loud sizzling noise as the hot magma cooled off from the cold Washington rainwater. Kata could feel more blood running down from her nose and into her mouth, mingling with the remnants of rain, leaving a metallic water taste. That was far from her mind for the moment as she continued to manipulate the water she could to cool off the lava, leaving piles of cooled rock in its wake. Her head throbbed more, and her vision at that point was at the level of needing glasses badly.

She pushed herself as far as she could go, before everything started slipping. ”...sorry love… gonna nap…” She uttered those last words very quietly before falling over, letting the sweet oblivion of sleep and unconsciousness take her.

Nina couldn’t believe what the hell Jade was saying! What the hell was wrong with that girl? The only reason Nina had ever really glared at Jade was when Jade hit on Petyr, right in front of her! However, Nina realized that trying to talk to Jade or even try to slap her down a peg would not work right now. Jade was not quite in control of herself it seemed. She had asked for help. For it to stop. Something wasn’t right. Something was manipulating the girl. It became more obvious when Ali’s new girlfriend became the target of her wrath. She knew Jade had a rep, but from what Ali had told Nina once, Jade would never actively hurt her.

”Got it Ash.” Before Ash left her side, Nina leaned up and kissed him on the cheek. An impulse or something. Right now was not the moment to analyze whatever the fuck that gesture meant. ”Take care of yourself… don’t want to lose you either.” She looked over to Austin and ran over to him.

”C’mon up Austin. Tessa will be fine. We need to get the hell out of here so we can find her eventually. If she’s smart, which we both know she is, she and Petyr will try to find one another and they’ll protect one another. Now c’mon, we need to move.” She gently tugged up Austin and handed him a scrap of her dress. ”Now dry your eyes and let’s get the hell out of here. We’re going to live.”

As the liquid-hot magma was slowly raised, Jade’s arms guiding the direction it was to go towards, the raging blonde’s lips curled a twisted smile. Though blood dripped both from her nose and mouth, it did not affect the vice of wrath that Jade was experiencing right now. It didn’t make whatever was going thorugh her mind alter Jade’s plan of killing Katalina. If anything, it only added to it. The blood, though just metaphorical before, was now, more than ever, literal. That meaning it literally was blinding her vision of what was going one; only, Jade didn’t know that.

A low, maniacal laugh emitted from her mouth, sounding off the unregretful trance Jade was in. The thought of Kata being burned alive within second was making her give in further and further into her inner-demons. And then, just like the aspect of hope everyone thought they had, Jade’s laugh was gone. Her twisted smile, gone. What was the cause of this, one might wonder? It was another blonde, one with crystal-clear, blue eyes. The same hint of blue and white that her eyes had were in the force field that she had put up, protecting Katalina from sure death.

Jade roared. She more than roared, she screamed to the top of her lungs, pushing her body forward as she put more strength into her control of the lava. Though this helped what she was aiming to do, it wasn’t for Jade’s body. She felt surges of sharp pain course through her arms and head. Blood poured out of her eyes and nose almost as if it was a fountain with minimal pressure. It traced into her mouth. Jade tasted the bitter flavor her own blood. Jade ignored it though. She kept on focusing on Scout and Katalina.

Then Scout would speak, mainly about someone getting Jade. She didn’t hear most of it though. She was too focused on the blonde and redhead in front of her. Even though her body was either at — or near — its breaking point, Jade was too determined to make her plan of ending Katalina a reality. Even if she had to kill herself to do it.

“Wake up! Please, Jade!”

The shrieking words entered Jade like a train into a tunnel, with the headlights on Jade’s darkness. She saw them, and heard the horn from the incoming train trying to reach out to her. If only for about a moment or two, Jade had came to. Her bluish-green eyes breaking through the pure red and black that had been her eyes. She saw in front of her and saw what was about to happen. In her mind, Jade had a look of complete and utter shock. She saw her…lava? In her mind again, Jade didn’t know what was happening. It was like before, but this time she saw that Katalina and Alicia and Scout were all in the way of that lava. Jade, for a moment, had no idea what was going on and what she was doing. For a moment, Jade had lowered her arms, but as they went halfway, she felt those mental puppet strings pulling at her. It was with that, Jade’s clarity was once again gone, but that had been enough time.

The crimson red eyes returned. However, it was too late for Jade to continue along her plan. In-between the moment of clarity that Jade had and something forcing her back into this state, she saw that the magma in front of her was cooled off. She saw that it was no longer thick, moving magma, but just hot stone. Jade’s eyes then widened. Her mouth wanting to speak, but all that came was a scream of disbelief. Added to that, she then, in plain sight(mainly due to the pink streaks in his hair), saw her ex-boyfriend grab Alicia and the unconscious Katalina, and take them god-knows where away from Jade.

“NO THIS CAN’T HAPPEN!” Jade roared, making an effort to do something before all was ruined. As soon as she took a step, she felt that sharp pain. Her legs felt intense pressure and she was about to go down, but through sheer willpower, Jade stopped her body mid-fall. Her arms were dangling mildly and Jade’s head was looking down. Her back was aching and the blood from her eyes, nose, and mouth was falling to the ground. She saw and she blinked a few times. Each time that she did, blood clouded her vision. She shook her head and found herself vertical. Jade took a giant for Scout, and a giant step for the raging bitch inside of her, arms raised, mouth unleashing hellish scream.

Until she wasn’t.

A flash of bluish green went off in Jade’s back, the thrill of lightning being sent through her body. Jade’s mouth shrieked louder than ever. Among that, her head turned and she saw Ashton behind her. ”When did he..?” Jade didn’t know. She didn’t have time to register it. The same moment that she had felt that surge of electricity being pushed into her body was the same moment that Jade had proceeded to fall face-first to the wet, cracked ground. Her eyes slowly faded into the back of her head. As she fell, Jade saw the slight of everyone. When her eyes were about ninety-percent closed, she saw the hint of a shadow in front of her. She didn’t know what it was, but it’s not like it mattered. Jade was unconscious, her body laying flat on her stomach.

Grant had spent the last minute or so pacing back and forth. His mind occasionally heard from hearing what the others were saying to his own stressed out thoughts. In his mind, he was frantically stressing over about how he might or might not be able to see Olivia again, or his sister. He didn’t know what was going to happen to him. He didn’t know if they would find a way out of here, or if they were going to die with each other. Grant had no reason to believe that he would get out, or that any of them were. He had no idea what was going to happen and he was freaking the fuck out about it.

When he was pacing towards the vines, Grant saw Alice touch it. That caused him to stop and saw that it was so razor sharp that it pierced her skin. Immediately, Grant stopped his pacing. He simply froze in place, eying Alice, trying to asses if she was all right or not. He held her in high opinion. She had always been nice to him, always talking to him when others didn’t. Like Olivia, she was one of his closest friends. So, when he saw that she was hurt, Grant felt worried. He was always one to worry about others.

Stepping forward three paces, Grant heard Alice speak. He stopped, and looked at her. She was asking if anyone had any kind of power that would be helpful in getting them out. Grant, knowing he had some kind of power to that effect, looked to Tessa and Malcolm. He knew Mal had healing powers, so that wouldn’t work. Grant couldn’t recall if Tess ever told him if she did or not, though maybe she did. Earlier in the day, Grant remembered something about her mentioning invisibility. Perhaps he was just imagining it. Today has been quite the day as it was, so maybe he was wrong.

“I, uh,” Grant spoke, but Mal had taken the floor first, citing that he couldn’t help with the destroying of the vines. Again, Grant would speak, “I don’t know if it’ll help much, but I seem to be able to repel objects,” Grant spoke softly and nervously, “I mean, I was able to send an Xbox One controller against the wall and completely reduce it to pieces.” Grant said, “I probably won’t be able to use all my strength because of my arm,” Grant lifted his left arm as slowly as he could so he didn’t alert the pain in it. “It was fractured earlier today. Tessa did the best that she could, but the sling broke earlier Grant said, gripping his injured arm.

He didn’t want to say it because at the time, it was a bad time for him, but his father, Wesley did it. He gripped his arm so tightly that the sling that Tessa did for him was snapped in half. The pain in it wasn’t as bad as before, but it still hurt Grant when he was raise it too much, thus why he tried not to move it all that much.

Tessa stopped trying to fight the vines, her arms were covered in scratches, and blood. Of course, Alice's power was to control plants, Mal could heal, and Grant could create force walls, or whatever it was called. Her power was essentially useless in this situation. Really so far it was only helpful in avoiding getting caught while sneaking out of the house, and not getting called on by the teachers. Maybe eventually she'd have a use for a power where she could only turn invisible when the person wasn't actively looking at her. Well maybe it could be helpful after this. She could distract the guy chasing them, and maybe get away easier than anyone else could. Maybe even hit him on the head with a really big rock. That'd be good.

"All right I've got an idea then." Tessa's eyes were bright with the idea. Now that she knew everyone's power... "Okay Alice, you hold the plants still as best you can. Focus on just the one spot. Then Grant you try to do your, force push or whatever it is, against that spot. I'll try to pull away in vines I can. And Mal, if I get spiked by a thorn, try to not let me die. But don't heal me all the way. You look like you're about to pass out. Make sense everyone?" She could only hope it would work.

Some days, Petyr just couldn't win.
The party had started off just fine. More people than anybody had expected showed up, including some old friends, and practically nobody had even mentioned the recent unpleasantries. The adults left a bit into the evening, leaving the high schoolers to a nice campfire to spend the night around. And then, the strange things began. It all started with Richard King suddenly getting up and waltzing off into the woods. Not long after, the proverbial shit hit the fan in all of its traditional style.
Out of nowhere Jade started to pitch a fit. What had gotten her so worked up was impossible to tell, but she was roaring furiously and stomping her foot on the ground. In the seconds following the first stomp, Petyr remembered the conversation from the previous day with Nina; Jade had been one of the people she'd mentioned had received an ability of some kind. Not long after, he found out precisely what her's was as the ground began to shake and shift under his feet. A great upheaval followed, knocking him backwards and sending him sprawling. When he managed to get to his feet, dust and smoke had started to cloud the area. All he could see was what was barely in front of him, save for the gigantic fissure that now tore through the area. And, as much as he tried, rational thought refused to come to him; it was driven from his mind by a sudden sense of panic. Even his worry for Nina and Tess left him. All Petyr could think was that he should, no, he needed to run away as fast as he could!
And so he did. He turned around and bolted into the woods, trying as best he could to ignore the screaming. He had no idea how far his legs carried him. Ten, twenty, thirty yards? It was impossible to tell. But eventually the rush of fear-fueled adrenaline faded, and he began to slow. His strides grew shorter as his breath grew heavy, and soon he was turning about trying to get his sense of direction. The sound of nearby voices drew his attention, several of which he recognized. He stepped over some bushes and into a small area where several other party-goers stood- one of which was Tessa. By the time he got close enough to do anything but pat her on the shoulder and try to be reassuring, Alice had come running up followed closely by a torrent of force that knocked him off his feet again. And then a clutch of black, thorned vines came spiraling out of the ground and enclosed them. And judging by what happened as Alice tried to deal with them, getting out of there would be far from easy.
"I don't know how much good mine's going to be here." It was a half truth, really; cold and ice could prove effective against plants, but he didn't have anywhere near the capacity to do so on such a grand scale. Besides which, something was nagging at him about the whole situation, especially after Grant mentioned what he could do. But if I see an opportunity to do something, I'll take it."
