Well, to get this out of the way, I think this will be a DM heavy RP for sure.
Other than that:

Sorry to go on like this but I just wanted to give my view contrasted here (though pretty much akin).

I might get back to bisecting @tobiax next but I'm out of time.

Main point about Energy, @Windicator and @Aurrorian, is that in early games such as Digimon World, and even in the Digimon Story series, Digimon do have an MP stat. Now, I know what works in video games doesn't work in tabletops, but, well, Digimon are sort of geared towards fighting, like, it's natural for them. So, I couldn't see justifying a daily limit to the number of Spitfires a Digimon can do, especially if they're as likely to miss or hit. I did, however, put daily limits on certain terrain modifying features. I feel like the Energy stat is just something that you don't MontyHaul with in giving items that recover Energy frequently if you see the players having an excess of damage output. Maybe it's not good to rely on that, but there's no hard way to stop a DM from putting something they don't expect a player to be able to use on an enemy, only for them to have what's needed to use it, or carry it around until they can. Example here.

Sure, This will probably happen eventually also.
If I had to say, it's almost mandatory for that matter in VG where you really can just fight for your life every 7th tile no rest and no real other logical factor. It's a fair point that digimon don't exhaust their move pool easily, but can you really imagine wargreymon just spamming terra force in any story setting? I guess those might be in but having a CD might just work to balance the thing out but I saw nothing of the abilities so I don't know any numerical values to base my opinion on.

I see you've also stumble on Jared on the off note.

my take on the "predator incident" as told by jared, is that the GM should have been more careful with a particular item, if needed to be made in first place so that it just might be destroyed upon defeat so players would not get OP just like that. maybe facilitate it with an outside source or just give some OP ass potions with little duration (though jared has a video with dangers of potions).

@WindicatorI admit I may need to adjust the energy costs, but I still can't seem to justify not having an Energy stat.

But you get my point, yes? It's as much about the DM as it is the players and the items and enemies included in the game. Don't give heaps of experience, that way the upgrade-a-stat or be able to level up dichotomy remains a balance on the players, because investing more in stats means taking more BattleExp to Digivolve (when the DM lets them.)

I guess I can see where you are coming from seeing as how grounded this system seems to be to the one present in Digimon World and changing the mechanic from a "Energy bar" to "Special slot/Technique slot" or possibly just CD based would change the dynamic drastically but I seemed to have had shifted to the PnP mind set and yeah, most of them have reasons even besides tracking for existence of such slots.

I can agree with you would it be implemented in a efficient way with some thought put into should we really see X spamming its signature ability/technique Y for the next 5 encounters (though that would imply bad balance anyway). I mean in no way to actually invalidate Digimon that are specialized in said abilities/techniques.

On another note, I think I found your earlier Digimon Table Top.

I guess I don't have an argument against this, implementation needs to be thought out however as if flawed the game will probably feel a little dull.

Well each time you use the Giga Cannon you have to roll the Dice of doom.

If you fail the roll your weapon malfuncions and you explode into small bits of data.

You use a Cs as in any other rp

But use stats and rolls to determinate fail or success.

Basically the same as on paper but with a computer at hand.

Dice Rolling online

Well depending on techniques avalible it might just happens that Players can only use their Signature move as that is the only skil they were able to learn.

On the other hand there's from my pow, little reason why not to spam my best attack if it got the greatest chance to hit and deal damage while probably being boosted the best by my stats.

Possibly dedicate the 'Generation' value to learn like 1 ability, and upgrade my character with another Gene pool to draw better stats on level up to myself.

In the end there's just no reason for a Warrior to learn both archery and Magic. Pull out that two handed axe in your right hand, that gigantic shield in your left. Hide behind The heaviest, steam roll armor you can and then charge your enemies like the badass tank you are.

Then depend on the corresponding allies to handle whatever areas you suck at.

That's the warrior way.

Use Roll20 wherein there are embedded rolls that players and the GM can see, or secret GM rolls that only the GM sees.

Well each time you use the Giga Cannon you have to roll the Dice of doom.
If you fail the roll your weapon malfuncions and you explode into small bits of data.

Or the DM doesn't give anyone Machinedramon.
And I do very much recomend something like roll20 where rolls are saved in a chat.

Because then they explode into bits of data?...

Oh... wait... I... didn't tell you there's a good number on my dices.

There's those less than terrible results, and those truly... truly.... Terrifying.

Om that note "a Pink cloud move in above Tobiax head and start raining yellow banana tasting treats."

Because reasons...

Well Ideas, I have many.

I already have a setting in mind too.

My plot may be a bit... cruel.

At least for those that fail to take care of their Digimon, and those Digimon who fail to protect their humans.

Because you realize right?... that if you human 'accidentally' die. Your digimon can kiss their sorry Digital butt good riddance.

Lets just say that on my... Dice of Doom. 'Accidents' happen quite frequently. Sometimes with quite Deadly results...

"You are suddenly bitten by a small digital spider that have been crawling around on your shirt ever since you went too close to that harmless looking tree. The Spider bite hurts quite real however for something composed out of data and the wound might perhaps even get infected if not treated. However its quite clear that this spider is venomous and has injected you with its poison. This Poison sadly won't allow you to scale walls any better than before nor does it allow you to shoot web from your hands or get amazing spider like reflexes. For the moment you feel fine however, just a bug bite... nothing more. However it seems that the bite may become increasingly dangerous over time, in four hours or so it might reach its peak where its absolutely hazardous. One could also say, that you got 4 hours left... to live.

~~Run little human, don't you cry. You knew that one day, you would die. ~~

I don't think that will be necessary.
Plus, the paramount human poisoner is DemiDevimon. Obviously.
