Long story short, I want a way to test some of my characters in a more combat-oriented scenario. I've been roleplaying for a while but I've never bothered with any arena based forums in the past. I've done some reading, mostly regarding T1, and I think I'm ready to get started. So, on to what I'm looking for.

Like it seems many others have been doing here among the interest checks, I'm looking to learn from someone more experienced at RPing combat. More importantly, I want to find out how well my writing style fits a combat situation with someone I can trust to offer constructive criticism. On top of that, I'd like some help getting some of my characters Arena-ready. I have them fleshed out for story- and character-driven plots, but most are nonspecific as to combat ability and mostly just flow with the tone of the RP.

I certainly do intend to join the major Arena threads shortly, and I expect you'll find me there as soon as I decide at least one of my characters is adequately prepared. In the mean time, I'd like a quick mid-powered bout or two to see how things go and if I actually enjoy this style of writing.

At some point in the near future, I may add a couple of my characters here as a baseline to work from starting out. The majority of them are inspired by D&D-style fantasy settings, with a few other universes (mostly Dresden for more modern settings) thrown into the mix. I typically don't use guns with any of my characters, but that may change in the future depending on how things go.

Anyway, message me or post here if you're interested in helping me out. I only ask that if you post here, you toss a mention my way so I remember to actually look.

@Skallagrim Here's the character I've been working with so far. I mostly just took him straight off a D&D character sheet I've been wanting to use for something here anyway. Let me know what you think.

@SkallaGrim, either you can help the young one or I will. Ryouko is good enough to stand on his own two feet now. So I could take on another youngling. That is, if you feel you have too much on your plate.

I have agreed to a mentor match with Fallen, to make up for the lack of instruction by Rilla. If you want to Seed, I don't mind. I was simply going to run Fate through a series of attack/defense exercises to see what he knows.

I was speaking of actually taking him under my wing and teaching him...well, pretty much everything. To bring out another fine fighter.

You can still have your match.

Aye. Although I prefer to see what someone has to build on and tailor instruction that way. Different styles of teaching.

I teach in a very specific way that makes what I see irrelevant. A mentor should never fully tailor to the student, but rather the other way around for proper passage of skill and knowledge. In my experience, that is. Of course, it's also entirely up to FateWeaver.

I'm also proposing this because I know you're a busy person with your family now. That, and you are going to have your hands full with the war as it is plus your side battles. I, on the other hand, have nothing but free time.

I suppose. Everyone is different in instruction and learning.

On second thought, I lean more towards teaching high-tier characters/fighters. I'm not sure that's something this person would want to delve into.

Apologies for my apparent absence from my own thread, had to work last night. I am now around again to respond to things promptly for the next few hours.

@FateWeaver D&D ... Dresden Files???

Well, have a look at my character sheets and you will find loads of D&D inspired characters.

Dresden... check out my character Edrik Pedrone, Wizard of the White Council!

Also, glad to have you aboard.

For anyone interested in taking him on, I've made a minor change to the effect of Warren's belt.

What I'm really interested in is a fight (or a few) to see where I stand among the established fighters and see how well my current writing style meshes with this form of RP. Also, some advice and criticism on the characters I build as I go would be nice. That's going to be more of a long-term thing I find in other threads, but it's always nice to have help starting out.

With that in mind, I'm willing to get into a number of matches against a variety of opponents. Especially as I get more characters ready with their unique skill sets. If you let me know what you're looking to fight, I can work on that type of character first if it's something I already have started. Until then, I'll have to make do with Warren for now and he'll take on anyone willing.

Of course it would be right in front of my face.

Now that I see it I remember looking it over once already.

I could do something in the Mild Powers range if you want. I could send my sheet in pm's and go over what 'mild powers' means as far as I'm concerned if it would help.

@Gun Any or all of that certainly couldn't hurt, as far as I'm concerned.
