Also, plotwise Desperado has been contracted by the guild. I dont mind the 2v1 but I invited him because I assumed this was going to end up as a 9 V 2 what with how many variations of seed you had. So yeah, that was me trying to even out our end.

Yeah, just replace what Seed is doing with Tetsue.

And like I said, I don't see anyone worthy enough for me to use Seed. So I'll just have fun with Tetsue.

Yeah I'm good, actually. Gun is a no bullshit kinda guy and isn't roaming the universe to play happy slaps with people. So if you aren't going hard then im going home. Because honestly this whole thing is already like pulling teeth and the passive aggressive, unearned superiority complex has made me more than just a little bored with the idea of this fight.

I really thought about 'defending' the Arena and I was going to stay quiet about my opinion. But since I was tagged I'll just go ahead and throw out why I decided not to join.

The problem (and this is my personal opinion) is that I feel most high/god tier matches end up becoming a pissing contest where each person tries to win with their own version of pseudo-science. Many battles end up dying in the OOC area because of such things.

I honestly don't think this thread will last very long; people will get frustrated, people will drop, egos will be bruised and butts will be hurt. Not to mention many high/god tier powers end up being very similar to one another with physics controlling/shattering abilities. It's all very boring to me.

Give me a pair of swords or brass-knuckles and I'll happily go toe to toe with anyone in the Arena. Throw in DBZ and beyond powers and I'll sit on the side lines and root for my favorite writer. I've tried upgrading some of my characters to this tier just to take part in this fight, but I lack the creativity to come up with something that I would feel good about using.

@Terror of Light How could you not dude? It's like Germany declaring war on the Allies, but instead bombing Sweden. They declared war on The Guild, but The guild gets to sit back and watch as other people take up the banner.

Well most people supposed to be on the home front didn't seem at all interested. Someone had to do... Something.

@Gun Being wholly disinterested in the tier that they're fighting in isn't a criminal offense.

@Shidenblades I'm pretty much a rarity in that I enjoy almost exclusively high tier fights, BECAUSE of the pissing contests. They help me understand what IS and ISN'T a good power, they help me narrow that down. I never had an argument over Kanitah's ring ability, so I mark that down as a good power. I had plenty of arguments over Baron's previous versions. I marked those down as bad powers, and rebuilt him every time, but with the same theme. Until recently, where I didn't have an argument about his powers. I mark that down as a good powerset.

@LeeRoyOh I'm not saying it is by any measure. Just slinging facts. No one wanted to or was willing to fight, so this is what we had. But I could care less. I'm no longer involved or invested.

I also have to second your comment on high tier rp's. I dont really care for finding what 'works' any more than the next guy not wanting to argue every time he posts. What keeps me latched is the sheer level of creativity I get to play with. Some of the fun nest characters I've ever read have been PC, simply due to their sometimes absurd levels and concepts.

Can't say the pissing matches are particularly fun, but where I'm from that's just combat RP period. Not any specific tier. So maybe you and I are just acclimated to bullshit or something.

I'm aware of the Freudian shit going around, but IMO it's best to just not take some things too seriously. In fact, it gives me immense pleasure to apply fart and poop gags when things get too choppy. I'd recommend the same to each one of you. Go ahead, let thine characters unleash the full might of their bowels, a musical dedication to comradery and good sportsmanship.

No really, all of his powers were designed with the sole intention of theatrics, and somehow ended up being incredibly viable in combat. I have no idea how it happened considering he was supposed to be a generic swordsman.

He's a shining star, a shiniiiiiing staaaaaaaaar!

All in all, high tier fights can be loads of fun sometimes... I think the thing to do is instead of challenging the opponent OOC when they do something impossible/ridiculous, you just roll with it. Unless it's an auto of your character, there's usually a way around it.

Heck, I once fought against a city-nuking PC character with a mid-tier one who could level a few buildings at best. It actually ended up being one of the most fun fights I've ever done, because every round forced me to pull all my tricks out of the bag just to survive... so IMO when you get to the crazy-powers tier, it is actually a lot about theatrics, and just how epic things can get.
