Niel Grace

Niel examined the place with interest. This looked fun. It was like a playground, but with better toys. Bouncy things, balance beams, jumpy things. He could understand why Kim wanted to go here. He edged closer to Kim while still marveling at the place. "Heeey Kim. What're you singing up for and can I do it?" Niel asked, the eagerness in his voice barely hidden. He guessed it was some sort of gymnast competition thingy. Looking around he could do at least a good half of what everyone else was doing with ease. Niel was a little unfamiliar with some of the movements he saw but he figured he could catch on pretty quick. He'd always been pretty good at doing physical things. If there was money involved even better. The only problem might be some of the forms, they might ask for insurance and stuff he didn't have which could be problematic. Maybe he could borrow Kim's if it came to that. Maybe she could even help him with this weird gymnast stuff, it looked pretty awesome.

Now that she was signed up, Kim wondered exactly how X would provide the dice rewards. She'd gotten her first die from Ramona, but it was unlikely that X would continue to have other people hand her dice. Maybe X would ship dice to her by mail, or have them magically appear in her "inventory"? Regardless, she couldn't ask while she was surrounded by this many people, so she decided to answer Niel's question instead.

“There’s a gymnastics competition next week. You can participate too if you want – I think there are cash prizes for the top three winners,” she said. Kim looks contemplative for a minute, then starts saying her thoughts aloud, as much for her own benefit as for Niel's. “Hm. I would help you practice, but males and females have different competition events – we both do floor and vault, but males also have events like still rings and parallel bars that I don’t know how to do. It’s kind of arbitrary, but that’s how gymnastics works. I can still show you stuff just for fun, though.”

Kim walked over to an empty spot on a mat. She was wearing jeans and a sweater, which are not the type of clothes one should do gymnastics in, but she decided that they were acceptable for simple exercises – after all, she’d gone freerunning in similar clothing, and it hadn’t been an issue. She took a few deep breaths and bounced on the soles of her feet, trying to get back into the correct mindset. After checking behind her to make sure that there was enough space, she swung her arms up over her head and leaped backwards, arching her back as she did so. Briefly, her hands touched down on the mat - then she used her arms to push off, bringing her legs back over her body and ending in a standing position. Kim brushed the dust off her hands and said, “That was a back handspring. It’s pretty fun to do, and not very hard to learn as long as you have a trampoline and a spotter to help.” She took a step and winced as the motion pulled on her muscles - she'd forgotten to stretch beforehand.
