Ink buff seems a bit weird to me, since your characters wish is focused around creation rather than restoration. I think there's a more unique way for you to support others than just a typical "buff" ability. Ink realize feels a bit weird if it's limited to just the elements. You may want to expand on how she got to poland and why, as well.

I think you should reevaluate your abilities and go with something else. The paint motifs you have throughout your ability set are more fitting for a witch than a magical girl. Theme and coherency in your abilities is critical. Also, I'd suggest revaluating the dynamic between your characters heritage and her world view/how she acts/who she is as a person.

Reorganize her magical ability so there's more distinction between the core ability and secondaries, but it's perfectly fine otherwise. Also, move the charisma bit to her wish.

Your ability set seems a bit weird for madoka. I'd suggest looking for something else, or completly redoing it in a magical girl way. Also your secondary abilities shouldn't be greater tiers of your core ability, rather, they should be new applications and uses for it.

The shell magical girls become is still controlled by the soul, and should (correct me if I'm wrong, which I likely am) still need normal things to survive (food, water, air). If you were to, say, shut down the brain by directly manipulating the soul, then the person would stop breathing, their heart would stop, and they would likely die.

We know that magical girls bleed, because Homura is shown to bleed in Rebellion. Therefore, stopping blood from pumping should have an effect.

I see where you're coming from with perceiving a personality/bio disparity, but there are some aspects of Kei's identity that if I can't repair with selective rewording, I'd rather keep and then bench the character in her entirety and write a completely new one. Give me about 15 hours to figure that out (busy day), I'll see what I can do and get back to you.

Also, please explain how her paint themes don't work for a magical girl? Do they contrast with her wish or are each of them individually too varied from a core theme? Are they too destructively focused? I'm lost.

Soul Gems are what contain the girl's consciousness. Magical Girls can survive even if their head is completely destroyed, as long as they're properly repaired with magic.

I mean, they're basically liches. As long as their phylactery is intact and they're not witchified, they can't die.

It contrasts her wish a lot. It seems something that has to do more with her subconscious rather than her wish necessarily, which makes it seem like something she'd have as a Witch rather than a magical girl. I can get you new stats but I don't think it's necessary.

Ah, that's fair. Simpler to patch up than I expected, so I'll snip and snap and fix that up along with the rest of the edits. still haven't tweaked the kathy story either whoops

Me and some friends have also extrapolated that magical girls also don't need to eat or sleep, though going to such lengths would require knowing the lich bomb, and probably wouldn't feel all that good at first given how your brain is hardwired to do that stuff. Also, it's questionable whether magical girls can become drunk. Magic is one hell of a drug.

Not that it's relevant, just noting it.

@Cleopatra The 'throwing the knives with the cloth' was mostly to ensure she doesn't actually have to drop her cloth in order to throw the knives, and also replicate the "floating knives" effect that's in her image. Mostly, the knives will be invisible, and then she throws her cloth around and the knives appear, and then another strike to send them towards a target with Magical Girl amount of power, I imagine with a light purple special effects aura around them to signify kinda strong thrown knives. Haha.

Weird? I thought the power was actually very basic and bland compared to some of the other characters.
And shape shifting was intended as a new application of the core ability of manipulating one's physical self.

But fine, I'll think of a more "Meguca" power set. I'm open to suggestions. What would be acceptable "Madoka-like" powers? Gravity control? Telekinesis? Rainbow beams? Is it enough if I shift the core ability to be shape-changing instead? There's canon examples of that like Nagisa in Rebellion, so I think that would fit in.

@Cleopatra I changed the soul binding bit, since I get how that wouldn't work.

But for the other ability to do with the soul, the finisher, would still work (I think). There is a soul to hit, technically, it's just in the shape of a gem. The finisher is literally attacking the soul gem, not the magical girl.

If that isn't okay, I have another idea in mind for it.

Sayaka's gem survived a fall off a bridge without breaking, so I think we can assume that they're not quite baubles in terms of fragility (depending on what was in the truck, of course). The ones which have broken over the course of the series have (as I recall) been either chewed up and broken by witches or targeted specifically by other magical girls at a very close range. So their palm-sized nature does help a lot in that case.

I put Kei's on an anklet specifically to match up with the Achilles' Heel metaphor.

Sayaka got killed by Mami during episode ten. Not even a called shot, a sudden attack while she wasn't ever aware and boom, dead. If we have an attack that specifically targets the soul, no matter if it's a big Tiro Final -esque attack or a sudden hit with any weapon within reach, and the only way that could be avoided or deflected in any way was to just say "It missed", it's either going to be stupidly overpowered or so underpowered it never feels like a real threat. I think that's what you call "Balance"
