The way he pronounced his warm words made her stop walking forward. It was until she was about to turn around, she felt his ice cold hand onto her shoulder. She ought to run away and scream, wondering why he was so freezing. Ok, admitted, it wasn’t very hot down here, but that did not mean his blood wouldn’t at least try to heat up his outer ends. Hayley turned around:”You think I am unique? Really..?” She gasped a little at her courage to question what he just had stated. “T-Thanks..” And for the first time since they met Hayley softly smiled at him. She decided not to mention his cold hands because he had complimented her for the first time since she arrived at this university. “Let’s head out.. Al right?”

Matthew nodded slowly as she thanked him. The smile he received made him happy, honestly. "No problem." He wasn't usually able to do that for people, he was glad he could help. It was much better to him than anything else he honestly did in his current state. He lowered his hand, deciding to accept her offer. "Sure. There's always time for me to come back and examine this place in the future." If only she knew how serious he was. Oh well.

He glanced back, staring into the darkness for a moment. He shrugged of the feelings he felt about the place, deciding to move on. "No time like the present. Back up those creepy stairs we go, eh?" He chuckled, slowly beginning to walk. This night was proving to be a nice one, one of the best he'd had in many years. He was thankful to her for that, and honestly felt like it was a debt he couldn't truly repay.

Once they were up and well, leaving the dark place behind, Hayley found herself in the teachers lounge after Matthew has shown her where. It was a rather sad lounge to be honest: There were just a few old 1-man sofa’s and the kitchen was rather old. The sink seemed like it hadn’t been used in a couple of months but the coffee machine seemed like the newest of its kind. Indeed, Hayley did seem to find a packed of ‘knacki’ sausages in the fridge and a packed of beef noodles in one of the cabinet. So grateful it had been something hot over a sandwich the searched for a pot to heat up some water in. “Do you want some as well? I don’t care if I have to share.” Hayley said, clearly in a better mood than when they met. Whilst slicing the knacki’s into pieces and letting the hot water boil, she shivered for a moment. After checking the heating system, Hayley had to conclude they had switched off the electric heating system for the night. “Other than food, could we find a warmer place to eat? I’m feeling kinda chilly..”

The noodles were fastly boiled and the entire kitchen had a faint cheap beef smell. But hey, better than nothing, right? Hayley filled up a huge cup with the junkfood enough to feed two persons or one with a huge hunger. After sticking two forks into the hot, steaming bowl she looked up at Matthew. He looked at her so sweetly and caring, she could not help but to give him another of her rare smiles. Why had she been so open to him? "He's so.. different."

'Heheh... Food's back on her mind.' Matthew thought, as he led her to the lounge. The place wasn't as impressive as the lower floor had been, but it had food. Therefor he assumed it was considered superior. He stood a small distance away as she searched for food. He gently shook his head at her offer. "No, thank you for the offer, though." He replied politely, as he couldn't eat. He was curious about what would happen if he tried. Would it just go through him? Probably. He thought about a warm place in the library... Without the heating, there wasn't much choice for her. Actually, there was one. He figured he'd make it known. "There's the fireplace upstairs... Though he don't have much in the way of making a fire in here, I don't think." He pondered on it... Those horrifying flyers would make decent fuel for it. But those were probably important. He honestly had no idea on how to make a fire with their current tools.

"Hopefully that'll work for the night...?" He asked, referring to the food. As he wasn't sure if there was any more in the library. Even if she was still hungry after eating all that food, he knew she'd be fine until tomorrow when she could get out. He tugged at his scarf, her smile filling him with mild embarrassment, though he wouldn't admit it. 'She seems to be doing better... That's good.'

After a shrug Hayley threw one fork back into the sink and inhaled the damp of her freshly cooked food. When she looked at his face, it looked like he was trying to think. Though, it looks like he didn’t get very far with that. He looked like he wasn’t very good at making decisions, or just wasn’t thinking out of the box. “How about.. We tear up that rabbit book and use it to make a little fire? I mean.. I don’t know why you’re not bothered by this cold, but I am.” Hayley sounded slightly annoying. She didn’t mean to come over as irritated like she sounded, but it was true she have had goose bumps for the past hours and her body did not seem to like it.

With a deep sigh on his slow reaction time, Hayley made her way back to the mail hall in the library. Making her way to the small reading lounge, she noticed the wood that had been lid in the fireplace was lumbering slightly. Little pieces of red ashes flew around as she sat down next to it and started to munch. “Oh.. Delicious..”

'That book does have a use, after all...'

"I suppose you could say I have a resistance to the cold." He explained briefly, putting aside the attitude. She perhaps had other plans for tonight that weren't able to happen due to her situation. It'd irritate him if he could be cold, as well. He watched her walk out, and he simply stood there, not caring to keep following her every time she moved. She probably could use a little time to calm down, as well. Matthew knew he could sometimes snap if irritated, and didn't want to end up doing so to her. So he instead went and took a seat in the cold lounge, only knowing that fact because Hayley had told him it. He stared blankly at the clock on the wall, listening to the ticks. He slowly looked down at the floor, wondering if any of this had been the right decision to start with.

'Mental diary entry #8768. The night has gone quiet for me once more, and I have a saddening feeling that nothing can truly replace it. It is apparent I can make myself visible, but because of my differences I seem to be rather irritating, due to not being able to know how living beings are feeling, considering I am no longer one. The stares I've gotten have made me feel rather repulsive, swatting away my assumptions of looking normal. At least I've learned a few things, tonight. I should keep this quick, and head upstairs. She might feel worse if I take too long... Of course, for all I know, she might feel better about it.'

Standing up, Matthew made his way out of the lounge, and upstairs. As he approached, he noticed the lit fire, and Hayley eating her meal. He spoke up. "Sorry. I was checking the time, and it was hard to see in the dark." He said as an excuse, standing and starring down at the fire. He figured he appreciated having it at one point, but he couldn't recall ever actually putting it to use.
