Freshman. Nothing beats being awfully lonely at the most Prestige University in all America. Wait, something was missing.. Lonely and socially awkward and/or disturbed. Hayley had never been comfortable being in new situations. It took her at least a few days to analyze everything around her before she felt at ease. Even then.. "Hayley, right?!" A high pitch voice peeked out from the silently mumbling students gathered in the University Hall. Shuffling her feet back and forth twice to finally turn her head over to the annoyingly sound next to her. In front of her was this extremely coldly dressed blonde chick, fluttering her eyes as if there was a hair poking in it. At least, that's how Hayley interpreted it. "Heey yes, I'm talking to you Hayley. I'm your sorority sister Becka! I haven't seen you in like.. Forever right?!" Hayley now recognized the girl in front of her. She was the one that showed her around on the first day: it took her 5minutes to realize her mouth wouldn't shut up for the next hour or so, so Hayley had friendly thanked her and left silently. It wasn't the best way to handle people that were nice to you, but it seemed like the girl didn't held a grunge about it. "Becka, nice to see you...Again?" Hayley's voice squeaked a little, making her cough awkwardly. "Yessss, very nice.. Yes yes.. Right. I was wondering.. We have this party on Saturday and.. Well, you haven't done anything for our sorority home yet." At that point Becka had already unzipped her purse and pulled out a heap of paper flyers. "Hang these out around school will ya? Thanks a LOT." What looked like a duckface and a wink or two, and Becka made her way out of the Hall. She had pushed the flyers into Hayley’s sweaty hands and whilst unbelievably staring Becka's way out, the first and last flyer stuck to her sweaty fingers so hard, the rest fell onto the floor. "W-What, wait..?..EHH!" The white, polished floor was spread out with bright pink messages like 'LET'S ROCK ON SATURDAY' and 'BRING YOUR BEST SMILE!'. As for the gathered Hall: They were all waiting for the lector to return with their algebra books that were freshly delivered this morning. So, waiting people plus unhandy uncommon girl equals.. That's right, laughter.

Her cheeks blushing bright red and her knees feeling sore from picking up all those flyers, Hayley didn't feel the need to get that new textbook anyhow. Therefore she made sure her task would be fulfilled by tonight. The start of her journey: The library.

'Mental diary entry #8767. Another quiet day in the library, I've began to grow bored of them somewhat, as much as I love the peace. Occasionally confusing people is still quite amusing, but it will not be a good source of entertainment forever, even though it feels like I've been here that long already... I am scared, somewhat. About going insane one day. That shouldn't happen though, as long as there is something decent to read, and people beyond my time to observe. Some of them are actually very interesting. Clark, for example, actually spent his time making sure books were in the correct sections today. I respect him for his efforts, even though others will probably ruin his hard work eventually by being lazy and not putting books back in their correct spaces. Keep up the good work, Clark. You are a true hero behind the curtains. One that will sadly never be appreciated by anyone around you.'

It was easy to watch people when they couldn't see you. Matthew often took advantage of this, knowing the people more than they perhaps knew themselves, with no conversation being necessary. He stared from above, atop the shelves, until he could find something of interest. More often than not he found nobody doing anything interesting, not a whole lot of people stayed to read, they'd rather take the books home, and return them later. Matthew was a little saddened by this, but tried to never let it get to him too much.

His thoughts wandered, as he looked around the library. There had to be somebody else of interest around. He began to wander, looking for something to do. He thought about maybe picking up a novel later and giving it a read. But what kind of novel? A mystery? Romance? So many choices, so many good books. He found it hard to decide. He'd save those thoughts for later, for now he wanted to observe the people, surely there was somebody that'd entertain him aside from Clark. Maybe if Clark was just here more often everything would be fine... Oh well, he'd make do.

The thick, wooden door opened up with a huge swing, whilst Hayley hung from the doorknob. With a loud bang the other doorknob hit the stairs next to the hallway that knocked over a pile of books on Clark’s desk. Clark? Hayley knew this because he was the man that always fetched her the oldest books he could find in the archive. He’d always check with her if she’d want to read it first before putting it on a shelf. She knew Clark from her science class, but she rarely entered the library herself. It usually was filled with a lot of people and Hayley just couldn’t bother with them whilst reading. “I’m sorry Clark!” Hayley quickly whispered, respecting the silence that was to be held within the library. “I don’t remember this door swinging open so easily..” She then coughed at the lousy excuse and picked up the few books that had fallen down. Clark was nowhere to be seen at first sight, so she just placed the books back where she had found them. Her brown leather boots softly sounded through the hollow halls filled with bookshelves. As she her eyes gazed upon all the glorious books she had yet to read, her sorority task quickly slipped her mind. At the first desk she came across with, the flyers took place with a fluff. “Clark?” She mumbled again, noticing he might just gone out to get lunch. Late lunch, that is.. It was nearly 3!

The big, main stairs took her to the 2nd floor, huge silver letters marked the dark wood above the first shelf: ‘Novels: Romance’. Strangely enough, there wasn’t a soul to be seen. Where did everybody go? Was 3pm a calm moment at the library? Who knew..

Her finger slowly slid over a few books to get some dust off. Bad move. An upwelling feeling made her gasp for air and.. “HATHUUUUU!” A loud sneeze. “Pardon me..” She softly whispered, stupidly realizing probably nobody heard it.

“Since I am alone…” Hayley’s eyes suddenly started to twinkle whilst she pulled book after book out of the shelves. Thick, dusty books were being held into her tiny arms until she couldn’t stack any more. With that done, she took place in the most cozy corner she had ever seen: A large, red couch looking rather vintage was curled up against a fireplace that wasn’t lid atm. A small table was set besides it and a small reading light was put upon it. It was perfect! Her books quickly found place on the other side of the couch as she unzipped her boots –Yes, she was a little strange indeed- and took the first book in her hands. “Captain Blackbeard.. I’mma read you.”

'What was that?' Mathew actually was caught by surprise, hearing something fall over. He walked along the shelves, coming to the end where he found what happened. A girl had came in and knocked over the books that were on Clark's desk. He crouched down, tilting his head slightly as he observed. 'Oh dear.' He watched as the girl thankfully put the books back, at least she was polite enough to fix it. Curious, Matthew watched as she began to walk through the Library, Matthew followed quietly. Which wasn't hard, considering his footsteps were silent across each shelf. He never really liked floating, he always liked to still walk. But floating had it's uses for getting him to places. He stared at the flyers she was holding, wondering what they were for. Was something interesting happening? He wanted to see, and as she put the flyers down, he wanted patiently for her to continue on, before jumping down and scurrying over to them. He picked one up, starring at the pink message. 'A party? How interesting... Though this flyer is an eyesore.' He complained, setting it down as to not have a floating flyer around longer than he had to.

He glanced around, noticing the girl had gone up to the second floor. He floated up the stairs and onto the top of the shelves to observe, though couldn't see her book selections. He lowered himself, hanging from the shelf by his feet. Or at least he made it appear that way to himself, he was honestly still just floating. 'Many fine options here, I wonder what she'll pick? He smiled, though he soon heard something from the girl. He raised an eyebrow, glancing at her. 'What?'

“HATHUUUUU!”

Her sneeze startled him, causing all concentration to end. He fell to the floor, his head going through but his body staying. He squirmed for a moment, before pulling his head up. He was thankful that he didn't fall to the first floor. Even if it wouldn't have hurt or done any damage. He stood up and simply stared at she excused herself for the act, confusing him. 'Well, it's not like she did it on purpose. How could she?' Since he was beside her now, he simply watched on as she picked out book after book, he was surprised she could carry so many. Though there was no need to, he stepped aside as she walked past him to go find a place to sit down. It was just too weird to have somebody walk through you. And being inside someone was awkward for him, as well.

He stayed at the shelves, and watched as she sat down with her books, and took off her boots. She looked like she was going to spend a long time reading, this seemed to be the end of any possible fun for the moment. 'Blackbeard? Not what I was expecting...' He admitted to himself, as he considered his options. When he really thought about it, there wasn't anybody else around... 'It's rare for there to be a lone person around the library... Maybe I can use this as a chance to cure some boredom with actual conversation.' He had a small grin, that was most certainly an idea. He didn't see how it could go wrong. He slid farther back along the shelves, looking around for a book. It'd be strange to not have one, he figured. He randomly grabbed one off the shelf, not paying attention to the cover that simply read "Rabbit Production".

'This being visible thing is all mental, right? I want to be seen, so I will be seen? I never really tried it...' Matthew pondered on how it worked, instead just deciding to try it. If it failed, she was just one person. Nobody would probably believe her that a ghost was talking to her, right?

Slowly, he walked out into view. He was rather pale, and acted surprised to see the girl. "Oh... Hello." He greeted quietly, a small smile on his face. If anything, he looked ill. It most certainly wasn't intentional, but it's not like he really bothered to check what he looked like.

It wasn’t until she had flipped the 5th page the realization slowly sunk in. This wasn’t the childish Peter Pan’s Blackbeard story. It was a more alternative version that had detailed descriptions of a woman slowly killing a whore crew aboard and saving Blackbeard as her own personal slave. She turned the book to the side to notice the +18 sticker on the back. ”Lovely.. This isn’t romance. Someone must’ve put it back on the wrong shelf..” Hayley was just about to stretch out, throw the book onto the table in front of her and grab a new one when she heard a man’s voice from the hall in front of her. A strange shiver ran down her spine and the fear of having to socialize with a man made her panic slightly. Her sweaty palms quickly held the book tighter and opened it up again. With a sweep she put her finger down on one of the pages to make it look like she was eagerly reading line by line. On top of that she lifted the book up so that their eyes would not meet. If only she knew..

“Hello.” Hayley murmured. For some odd reason the whole room had turned colder than before. A long silence made her wonder. “Did he leave already?” Something inside of her shouted not to lower the book to check, but her curiosity called out for her. At first sight she did not see anything, and let her eyes scan the rather small reading room. Slowly, her eyes widened when a tall, young looking man stood in the corner of the room. His clothes were very old-fashioned yet classy. Not daring to look at his face yet, she noticed his pale skin colour as he held up a book. Her stare must’ve lasted at least a few seconds before their eyes met. “Oh..?””God, those eyes.. But why does he look so ill? It looks like he hasn’t slept in ages..” She thought, not knowing that might actually be the truth. ”Sorry..” Hayley quickly sat up to take her boots off the couch hide the book she was reading beneath them on the table. After all, she was reading a mature book.. What ought he to think about her now!

'At least it's working... Have to note this for later.' Matthew thought to himself, not realizing that he had grown accustomed to not speaking whatsoever. He only realized what he was doing when he noticed her staring, perhaps judging him. Forming an opinion? It was all fine with him. His expression remained the same as she apologized, "It's not an issue. It's actually been awhile since anybody has passed me even a glance." He explained, knowing he probably didn't make much sense. Making sensible conversation would perhaps be a tad more difficult than he thought. He took a moment to think about a topic that might go well with her. Books? That was one. Though he wasn't sure about how to converse about Blackbeard. He didn't even know there was a romance novel based on that... He tugged on his scarf a little, thinking for a moment before continuing.

"Sorry. I tend to say odd things at times, feel free to ignore it." He held the book close, still unsure of what it even was. "Are you fond of this Library as well? I have a lot of memories here, ones that span back pretty far. A lot of things have happened here, special things, wonderful things. It has a rich history... I suppose you could say it has a special place in my heart." Of course, he didn't have a heart. But she honestly didn't need to know that, right? Kids these days didn't care as much about details, did they? He didn't think so, from some of the ones he had seen. There were always people who surprised him, though. "I'm sorry, I don't talk to people much, I sometimes ramble on about unimportant things. It's a fault of mine, I suppose." He tilted his head slightly, looking back at her curiously. He forgot how nice it was to just speak to somebody, he appreciated the conversation more than was probably sensible.

The expression on his face did not turn into a frown or a grin when most people around this campus must’ve already judged her like crazy. Who takes off her boots in the library and who reads mature books all by herself on school? Anyway, she took a second book from her pile and tried to focus on the title of it. But all she could think about was the man, still standing there, probably hoping to get a little small talk out of her. Because, the ramble he made didn’t make any sense and made her wiggle uneasy from one butt cheek to the other. The words he spoke were English all right, but it had this old accent to it. Some words were pronounced weirdly and instead of listening to what he actually said, she focussed on his lips forming all the words. When he finally shut his lips, Hayley confusingly waited for more. Was there more to come? Or was it her turn to say something? ”What.. Did he say?” Lightly biting her lower lip, hoping he’d just leave now, Hayley panicked once again. ”Say something Hay, say something! He’s bloody staring at your like crazy!”

“I don’t get why people don’t look at you, you have the most bright eyes in the world.” Hayley opened up her book and as she started to read the first sentence in it, she realized how socially awkward that is to say to a complete stranger. Once again, she tried to hide herself behind her book and peeped a small ‘sorry’. As her cheeks blushed bright red she did not allow herself anymore to lower the book at – all.

'Bright eyes...? A side effect, perhaps? I don't recall having bright eyes... I guess it's possible to forget things over the years, but still...' He tried not to ponder on her words too much, as there was plenty of time for that later. Of course, the way she just went on to another book made him realize that she probably did not want to talk with a complete stranger, if she did, she'd probably be somewhere else. He wasn't sure where, but it'd probably not be here. "Well, thank you for the compliment, and the small bit of conversation. I... Suppose I'll let you go back to your reading now. Apologies if I was a nuisance at all." He walked over to the opposite corner, deciding to look at the book he had picked up. Once he read the title, his pupils shrunk. 'What is this? Rabbit Production?'

He slowly opened the book, going through the first few pages to figure it out. 'Rabbit mating? Why would anyone want to read about this?' He questioned, gripping the book as he read through each page. He was so focused on figuring out the possible interests in the book that he didn't notice his fingers going through the hardcover, due to being too focused on the words inside. 'Where is the interesting fact in all of this? Who would care how animals mate...?' He turned to the next page, his eyes narrowed as he continued reading. He wasn't going to stop until either the pages stopped, or he came to a conclusion.

As soon as he came, the man left. Well, he didn’t exactly left, but he went to the other side of the reading room and opened up his book over there. It was rather weird to have someone in the room whilst she read. Uneasy about why he wanted to talk to her, Hayley silently continued to read her novel about a British man traveling around the world around the 1830. The story itself was written carefully and every word made her read the next. As she flipped through the pages, the hours passed by. It soon became 6-7PM and not even her hunger could make her stop. It was at 9pm when the darkness started to bother her, the cold was even more noticeable and she could not longer ignore her hunger. To not disturb her fellow reading ‘buddy’ she tried not to make a sound as she pulled up her boots and laid the book onto the table with the other books. Silently, she lifted the pile into her arms, and walked towards the man. The title of the book was showing since he held it up high. What a strange taste of books he had! “..Rabbit reproduction?” Her mouth was dry and her neck felt sore from looking down so long. “Anyway, I’m leaving. Bye.” And with those words she made her way down the main stairs and stood in front of the big door of the entrance.

The pile of books was placed onto Clark’s desk so she could take them with her later. With one hard tug Hayley tried to open up the door. It stayed shut. ‘Hm?” Again, but this time harder. “.. You kidding..?” The last time she had tried to pull the door with both of her arms, with all her force, but still no luck. Hayley couldn’t believe that this was happening. She was locked in? Seriously? Who doesn’t check if the library is empty before locking for the night? “Oh fuck..” She whispered with her eyes towards the 2nd floor, rubbing over her belly. It made the strangest sounds, begging for some food. It seemed like she was sucked into the book so deeply, she did not notice anyone locking the door..

'Nothing! Nothing in here is of interest! This is a lost cause, I have been here for hours...' Matthew was glad he didn't require food, water, or sleep. It allowed him to spend hours trying to find one decent point in the book. Sadly he was having no luck. Also sadly, the girl had approached him. And noticed what he was reading. Slowly, he closed the book. Staring blankly. "I was trying to find the material in here that interested people enough to actually have it in this library-"

“Anyway, I’m leaving. Bye.”

'That's a great note to leave off on...' He looked down at the floor, unsure of what to think at that moment. He hesitantly stood up, deciding to go put the book back in it's rightful place. Though, as he approached the shelves near the stairs, he could hear the girl's struggle with the door. He slid the book back into place, before turning and staring down, concerned. 'Is the door locked...?' He questioned to himself, able to hear the growling of her stomach in the silent building. He felt bad about her situation, slowly traveling down the stairs to try and assist how he could; with his knowledge of the walls she stood inside of. He approached slowly, his voice rather soft as he spoke. "It would appear you are stuck in here, yes? With that noise I heard, I assume you're hungry. There's an employee lounge in the back, There ought to be some food somewhere in there. I can't show you any exits, but I can show you to something to eat. Don't worry, I'm sure nobody'll mind." He didn't consider the fact that he hadn't mentioned himself being trapped in the library. Curse of being in here so long, probably.

Every possible scenario’s went though her head: She had to stay there for the night? The man could be a possible danger. Who knows? Maybe he likes young, innocent girls that look like they haven’t slept or eaten decently in a long time. Maybe he’d.. NO! ”Don’t think about that, that’s disgusting. He seems like a fair man.. I hope..” Talking about the devil, the time she was having a conversation all by herself about this situation, he seemed to realize she was indeed stuck for the night. His slow way of approaching her made her take a few steps back to knock her back against the door. Whilst taken a deep breath, Hayley took a few seconds to let his handsome appearance soak into her memory. Though there was something odd about him.. He didn’t seem quite.. ‘youngster’ as he might seem. But yet, he was captivating to her. “Food..” Hayley slowly nodded to his question, and didn’t even bother if anyone would mind her taking the food in the lounge. With an empty stomach she couldn’t possibly try to escape a 1000year old library. “Yes, please.” The fewer words she spoke, the best it seemed. Better to not get too comfortable with a stranger so late at night, right?

He couldn't help but chuckle at her response. "Very well. It's towards the back of the library, a short trip. Follow me." He turned around, slowly making his way towards the back of the library. There was plenty of time to waste, though he figured she wanted to eat sooner rather than later. His footsteps were silent, though he walked steadily. "So," He began, continuing to stare forward. "I saw the flyers, that you brought in. Seems like quite an event." He was curious about how that'd go. Though he had his assumptions that it would be loud, and probably not to his tastes. It was conversation, none the less. Thoughts passed through his mind, about the employee lounge. He recalled the door having a lock on the inside, and narrowed his eyes at the thought of it being locked. Usually he could just go through a wall, but now he had somebody watching him. He began thinking up a plan in case the situation presented itself, it was always good to be prepared. Though he only had one idea in mind, and it was risky. But it could possibly work. It could also go horribly wrong, but that was why it was a risk, and not a solid plan.

'I'm overthinking it. The door probably won't be locked, it'll be fine. Who locks the doors inside the building as well, anyways...?'

Hayley started to follow the man through a hall, which was dark and barely lid by a few candles that stuck to the wall. They were clearly 7day candles that were slowly coming to their end. It gave an authentic feeling, almost as if they went back into time. Every step they took echoed loudly thanks to the brick walls that had no windows. It was until they reached a corridor, Hayley stopped for a second. There were a few candles that weren’t lid anymore down a hall, leading to the other side the man wasn’t taking her. “What’s this way?” She asked curiously, slowly stepping closer to the darkness. It was only until she was halfway the hall, with a gleam of brightness behind her where the man stood Hayley turned around. “Aren’t you coming?!” Her voice has this exciting undertone, and she felt the urge to explore. Not waiting for him to follow her, she let her fingertips slide over the roughly and wet feeling walls. When he fingertips started to feel sore from the rough surface, she stood still. A tall, but narrow door ended her journey. Not a second later, the door cracked open slowly and Hayley pushed it further open with her white sneakers. A stairs leading down was lightly lid by thick candles. One every 6 steps. “Hey.. You! I’m going down here..” She mumbled, finally realizing she didn’t know his name. ”Silly me, I never really asked him..”

Once again, her hunger has faded away.

"What's this way?"

'Oh dear.' Matthew thought, turning his head with a small frown. What was she up to? She got distracted so easily, had she not been focused on food moments ago? His thoughts were interrupted by her call, and with a sigh, he followed her, unsure of what was attracting her down the hall. Curiosity was sometimes a terrible thing, he was afraid she might get herself into trouble. Or just starve, if she forgot to eat like this often. Must of been rather lucky, or maybe he just was looking at who she appeared to be, and not who she was deeper inside. He would of thought deeper into it, had she not opened a door that led into the lower level of the library. As he reached the door, he stared down, noticing the candles that were lit. "Odd. The candles in the hall aren't lit, but these are...?" He thought out loud, actually becoming curious as well. He focused on the main area of the library, he hardly wandered elsewhere due to nobody being around. 'I've become forgetful after so long... Who has been coming down here?'

Though he was about to start wandering down the stairs, he stopped himself. There certainly wasn't anything that could harm him down there, it didn't mean it wasn't a tad spooky. "Ladies' first." He said, gesturing towards the stairs. "Watch your step, it looks like it's a long way down..."

Hearing he was clearly following her made her think. Maybe he didn’t think she was weird, unlike all her sorority sisters. That made her slightly excited she had maybe found a new friend. ”Now now, don’t get too excited!” And with a quick shake of her head put her teeth down on her lower lip to keep her giggle suppressed. “Lady? Eh.. Thanks. I’ll be fine though.” Hayley then took a few steps down, looking at the man behind her for a second. “I don’t think we’ve met before? Eh.. What is your name?” Hayley then continued to walk down the stairs finally arriving in a dark and low basement. Though it was really dark, there were a few shelves filled with books places against the walls. They seemed specially made for this kind of place, so it must’ve been special to be here. When Hayley picked up one of the candles on the stairs, she noticed the floor was coated with dark red carpet, making their steps not noticeable anymore. And now that there was more light, Hayley spotted an old, wooden table filled in the midst of the room. There were two more doors to each side of the room, made out of the most beautiful wood ever: It had carvings of all kinds of strange creatures, and decorated with something that looked like diamonds or precious gems. They might have been fake, but they looked stunning to the eye. It almost looked like a royal family had taken shelter here. “What is this place?” Soon her eyes started to get used to the dark, though that did not prevent her from knocking down a few piles of books on the ground or a statue or two that she could save at the last moment. Fortunately, he could not see her red cheeks showing up.

“Hmm?”

With each silent step Matthew took down the stairs, the more forgetful he felt. It seemed almost wrong, as if there was something important he had forgotten. It certainly provided enough reason for him to go down. "I suppose I never introduced myself. Sorry about that." He stared down, past her, focusing on the path ahead. "Matthew is my name. First name, at least. Langerous is the second." He looked away, at the wall beside him. "Odd sounding, I know." He added in meekly, as they reached the bottom. Matthew observed the area carefully, walking slowly. He cringed as the girl proved to be a walking apocalypse, knocking over most of the things in her way. 'I don't think asking her to be careful will do any good.' He admitted mentally, thinking she could honestly use some assistance. Not just right now, but perhaps in general. She appeared to be quite quirky, and he wasn't sure of how the outside world treated a person like her. It was concerning, to say the least.

Looking at the doors. He simply stared at them, as he searched his mind for memories of them. Nothing came up, he figured it was something he had long forgotten. Much to his annoyance. "Well... Considering these doors, and the time period they were perhaps built in..." He carefully approached one of the doors, resting his palm upon it. "They could be a number of things. Treasuries, storage rooms..." His hand fell, as a thought crossed his mind. "... Tombs, even."

“Mine’s Hayley.. Summers. Nothing odd about that surname I suppose..” Hayley stepped towards the two doors whilst Matthew spoke about that he assumed would be behind those doors. It made her shiver slightly. A tomb wouldn’t be the best discovery of the year as she was terrified of anything mummified. Something just made her panic when she thought about those old movies her father used to watch where mummies moaned out to you in a dark and cold pyramid. They would chase after you in the slowest way possible and yet be terrifying. It just didn’t seem right to her.

“Let’s hope it’s not.. That last thing.” The door, luckily, wasn’t locked. It opened up alright, but not too smoothly. It seemed as if the door hadn’t been used in quite a while and a dust cloud hovered up from the carpet ground inside. With her candle she tried to lid up the room she was trying to discover but the dust made it nearly invisible to see anything. It was when Hayley took a few steps in an image was created: There was a huge bed pushed to the side of the gigantic room, with the most beautiful white blankets draped around a wooden frame. The dark carpet continued, as she walked inside the room. “Are you coming?” For some odd reason, Hayley had started to whisper. As if, someone would hear her. The room was richly decorated with what seemed like the most beautiful furniture ever. It was old fashioned, that was a fact, but people pay loads to get these kinds of coaches inside their homes. All together it looked like a room people would actually live and sleep in. It even had the smallest kitchen ever, Hayley noticed.

With most disbelief she said: “Did someone.. Live here?”.

Matthew nodded slowly. "Agreed." He responded, trying to take a moment to observe the books. He was curious what they would contain, though he figured it couldn't be anything too overly important. Though there could be. Before he could examine their content, Hayley was already opening one of the doors and going inside. He followed quickly, the dust thankfully not proving bothersome for him.

The room was, to say the least, a relief. No tombs to be found. He almost face-palmed, feeling stupid for assuming his mother and father were that glorifying of themselves. Of course, he hadn't seen the whole area. Plenty of things were possible. He stepped forward, as he answered her question. "I believe so. Libraries used to be used as homes, a long time ago. The past owners of this place were extremely wealthy." He smiled softly, looking around. "This place...It's dark, old, but has stood the test of time quite well. I'm surprised."

'Probably didn't look much different back then, aside from the dust.' He thought, waiting as she was the only one with a source of light. Wandering around in pitch-black darkness wasn't one of his specialties. He needed to keep an eye out so she didn't hurt herself, or the things around here, as well.

After examining the whole area Hayley looked up and walked towards her new friend. “I could come and study here.. It looks so lovely! Compared to my sorority place this suits me way better..” She stared at Matthew for a few seconds, only having a candle to feed her sight. What was he thinking? He followed her down here without a question, as if he had nothing to loose. As if he didn’t even care what was down here. She, on the other hand, had this impulsive need to go on adventures. Sadly, that never went unharmed. This time it did, luckily, because she wasn’t alone. With a deep breath she shook her head. “Sorry I’ve taken you here. I’m such a weirdo..” With her hand brushing her hair back, she turned to the door. Almost too soft too hear she mumbled:“No wonder I never make any new friends..”

"I certainly like it. Though some more light for reading would be appreciated." He could come down here for peace and quiet now, and had more books to read. Hayley seemed to like it as well, so perhaps he'd see her more often than not. Though, soon she was apologizing to him, much to his confusion. "Hmm?" Matthew turned, blinking. Had he appeared uninterested? Matthew forgot about himself for a moment, walking up and placing his cold hand on her shoulder. "Weird just means different. Unique." He said calmly, offering a small smile. "I think your curious nature is quite interesting. I'm curious about a fair number of things, myself. You shouldn't be down on yourself just because you're different. There's always somebody who will understand you."

'Though I'm not sure anyone could accept me in my state...' He thought, though he hid his concern on the thought.
