Check out the OOC!
I will be accepting character sheets until Sunday, the 22nd and will be choosing the replacement players from them.

Alright, the IC has started and it is getting close time to recruit more members. I am only looking one and A MAX OF TWO players and although I hate it (very much...) if I receive more than two interested members, I will need to choose out of the submitted entries of who is going to be accepted. I am more than willing to put you on the waitlist and add you in at a later time in which we loose more members or can handle more people. However to make sure that you and the group will fit, here's a small list of what the general feel of the group is like and other little tips and information:

- We have been going so far for four months and I have plans for this roleplay to go on for three parts (essentially three roleplays). If you want to take a break and come back down the road, feel free to do so. There will be multiple points of entry and exits so people can do that. If you become bored/tired/etc. tell me so I can find a way to fix it or if you are going to drop, make sure to tell me. I won't have any hard feelings, I promise. This roleplay will keep chugging along if people drop.
- I am going to warn you that for a Casual level roleplay, things do move slower than the average roleplay(sometimes taking up to a week before another post). However the OOC and PMs are always open for communication so don't worry about having total silence.
- Although this roleplay is in Casual, there will be long posts. For the most part most of them will be from me but we do get a few chunky posts from others at time. Don't be afraid of chunky posts if you're joining.
- This group does use TitanPad for collabs between two(or more if needed) people. If you don't know what that is or never done it before, don't worry we'll be more than happy to help out.
- Many people had to redo their power section. It might be best to read a few character sheets in the OOC to see how things work and feel free to ask me if you have any questions at all about it.
- Reading the IC posts concerning the TSP and Reformers is highly, highly encouraged. Reading the other IC posts with members still present is a very good idea
- Input is highly encouraged whether through the OOC or through PMs. Many large choices and such are going to be taken care of by the group instead of solely by me. Although I have the overarching plans and ideas, we are creating the story and the journey together so feel free to contribute as much as you like.

Summary (AKA, the TL;DR):
-This is the first roleplay for a three part series (tentative to change depending on how things progress)
-Our characters are going to be a group of average people find themselves intertwined between two opposing forces with superpower like abilities
-Throughout the first part of the roleplay, the main objectives for the characters to accomplish is to learn how to control their newfound abilities and to dig deeper into the history between the two groups
- The setting is in modern times with a slight futuristic edge on weapons and technology within the two opposing forces

Brief History:
2001. It was a year that changed everything but not in the way most people think. Unlike the news of the Twin Towers falling, the happenings of the Sierra Project was kept a secret. A small team of scientist under the watchful eyes of the U.S. Military went out to find a way to enhance human performance to prepare themselves for the future. However, instead of finding enhancements that could allow a person to grow physically stronger than normal or allow a person to be able to survive harsher terrains longer than normal, they created something much more than they could ever dream of. A serum that could give inhuman abilities to about a quarter of the people given either by injection or inhalation of the gas produced.

After the original group (nicknamed Generation Alpha) were tested on and the serum was found to be perfected, the Sierra Project moved to phase two with the introduction of Team Bravo in 2004. A group of ten were chosen to accomplish tasks deemed impossible by normal humans. However, things didn’t go as everyone expected as Gen. (generation) Bravo was decommissioned and the Sierra Project was shut down in 2008.

Now it is 2014. Saturday, May 3rd to be exact and a few people that previously worked on the Sierra Project are becoming restless. One of the scientist was planning something and was delivering three vials of the serum in New York City. However, plans fell through as a minor car accident happened while riding the bus, breaking one of the vials during this process. Thus releasing a gas throughout the bus and unknowingly affecting a quarter of the people on the bus. Burger flipping teens, a first year middle school teacher, a recently divorced alcoholic, a tourist from Canada; just a group of average, everyday people who are soon going to be thrusted into a situation they would have never seen themselves in.

Welcome to the rebirth of the Sierra Project, Gen. Charlie.

Special Notes on Abilities:
Although I would like to see a growth in each character’s ability, I do not want the final outcome to be something too overpowered. The abilities are going to manifest in five stages ranging from a total lack of control (level one) to full mastery (level five). For most of the first part of the roleplay, the characters are going to sticking to level one and brushing into level two later down the road. Out of those in in Gen. Alpha and Bravo, few are on the top end of level three or emerging into level five but most are level four.

Rules and guidelines:
-Follow the Fundamental Rules of the Guild and Casual Standards. Seriously, read them if you haven’t because I will harp on you if you don’t follow them. Especially the Fonz part and rule five.

-Play fair. Seriously, no one wants to write with the metagamming Mary Sue or the invincible godmodder. With the way this roleplay is going to work, our characters are purposely going to be weak and without knowledge of what is going on.

-I’m not too much of a stickler when it comes to post but please use common sense. If you know spelling or grammar is not your strong point (which it isn’t for me) use a spell/grammar checker before posting. Running low on time so you're just going to throw a random, half hearted post to fill your quota? Don’t do it. If it’s going to take a bit long than you though, not a problem. No matter if you are just coming into Casual and barely reaching the minimums or writing paragraph after paragraph of Advanced level work, I want your post to be a good representation of what you can do.

-Have any suggestions or ideas, please tell me! Although I’m the GM, I’d love to have feedback and help creating this story.

Possibly in. What kind of powers are we looking at? Are we talking performance enhancement?psionics? Magic?

I'm thinking along the lines of a superhero type of powers that can somehow be loosely explained by a genetic alteration. If you ever watched Alphas on Netflix, something similar to that or like X-Men but not as powerful. I would say yes to performance enhancements and psionics to a certain extent but I'd say no to magic.

I'm in...
Was thinking about something really unoriginal for my character's power. Lately most games have implemented an observation/focus ability. Although at level 5 it might be on the limit of metagaming...I'd like to try such a character, if I'm allowed that is.

Could these abilities reside in the range of natural abilities that are enhanced to superhuman levels? I was thinking about a renovated version of 'super speed' for a character, but I have no idea if that would be appropriate.

Oh, and I'm interested, if that isn't already apparent.

Could I ask for an example of the ability you are talking about because I'm not exactly sure what type power you are thinking of and all that it encompasses? I try not to be too picky about what power people chose so if we need to we can try to hash it out and make it work somehow.

Yes, that will work out great. Yes, you can use that for your character but just remember that you won't have full control over it until much further down the line.

Also, make sure that you(and everyone else) think about your weaknesses for your power. For example, maybe since your character can move at an accelerated speed, their metabolism moves at a highly accelerated rate while using their power which means they will need to consume extra calories to use their ability or easily become more fatigued since their energy runs out quicker. By no means do you have to use this as your weakness if you don't want to but I just wanted to make sure everyone knew about this and you were a perfect example to use.

I'm debating if I should explain more about the two groups or leave that as a surprise in the IC. Thoughts or ideas about that?
I'm currently creating the character sheet for you guys which you can either post here, pm me or post in the OOC when I get that up and running. Also, to keep things organized, I'll probably post something in the character sheet sub-forum for all the major NPCs we come across and update it as we go along.

Alright, added the character sheet. If you have any questions or anything about it, ask away. I'll start working on mine so that you guys can have a reference. I'm going to be leaving in an hour so I may or may not finish beforehand. If not expect it later tonight.

I'm up for this. I either want to play someone who's just really proficient with whatever they pick up (be it a tool or a weapon) or someone with electrokinesis and flight. Think that'll work?

I rather have it electrokinesis or flight rather than having both. Tool/item proficiency would be fine by me but just remember that they won't be perfect in their powers right off the bat.

Eh, they'd more be using the electrokinesis to facilitate flight, kind of like how Magneto somehow manages to fly even though he only controls magnetism. It'd more be a specialized use of her skills rather than a secondary power.

Alright but you might have to wait until your character gets to level 2/3ish before she can start to show signs of it.

The would be several options to start from. But while having different ways at the get go when we close in to the end they become similar
First one would be an older detective, somewhere in his thirties. A lifetime of work in the industry having to find clues even where there are none has made him quite perceptive. Once mutated, he would become better at tracking people, finding clues and I would also go so far as adding lie detection. End game time would seem to slowdown while focusing, but even this cannot be kept up forever. Any distraction may pull him out of focus breaking his pace.
This character would be on the smart side playing it safe-er. In the end he would become a poor Bruce Wayne...none of the gadgets, some combat training(unfair advantage against the so called cannon fodder.) and a rundown car to provide transport
The second would be a young free climber. This discipline requires a keen mind as well as a trained body. Finding the fastest route and being able to pull it off is quite difficult. This character would turn to parkour early in the story since climbing seems to static for him. "If you can see the end, I ain't interested". His power development would be more inclined on movement facilitating. From the things that he dose not find interesting momentarily the color would fade out. Making his place of interest more visible, he won't see glowy stuff as in games thou...his reckless way of life spills over in his eventual combat.
Similar to the detective, his sight aids him in tracking people and spotting objects. Towards the end of both their developement the battle nature of this ability becomes more noticeable. Focusing to turn the battle in their favor by dodging and countering, but being on the edge where any hit may loose them their fight.

I really like it! I would be fine with either character and the abilities you described for both. Just make sure that you remember that the more powerful you make your character, the larger the weakness has to be.

The weaknesses will arise as the powers manifest and grow but they will show up pretty early. The weaknesses might not be at it's full potential until the powers grow but I'd still like to have it down in the character sheet
