>refund and ticket transfer not available
>sneak onto a different train going to somewhere 2 hours from home
>caught
>talk way out of it
>forced to pay £120 for ticket to SOMEWHERE I'M NOT EVEN TRYING TO GO
>now can't afford a hotel
>lie to parents about booking a hostel so they don't worry
>spend last scraps of money on ticket home for tomorrow morning
>time to sleep on the street yay

One day I will become a competent adult. Today is not that day.

I don't think it really qualifies as an adventure. Just a shitty series of events. Adventures have to be interesting or exciting or something right?

Down the line you'll probably look back at it in hindsight and realize your a richer man at that moment than before. A lot of interesting things can come misfortune, and those stories are more interesting to read than something prepared and executed by the book.

A train ride that would otherwise become mundane becomes a little more humorous. And if you're speaking to us now, you still came out of it well enough and you're alive.

I have a college professor who has fond memories of sleeping under newspapers in a subway in South America.

One day, this will at the least make a great story to tell your friends, kids, grandkids, or whomever else is important to you. Hell, that sounds like an awesome story for a stand-up comedian to tell, and the sort that people wouldn't quite believe at first.

I dunno, I didn't think occasionally sleeping rough was a big enough deal to constitute an adventure or whatever. It's not the first time I've ended up doing it, just first time in a new city... maybe that says more about me than anything else. I posted this because of the ridiculous series of events leading up to it.

Anyway it was pretty uninteresting. Just fucking cold and wet like you'd expect. I also met some very nice people in a mcdonalds who let me stay there for a while. Gonna leave a 5 stars on TripAdvisor :P

And if you tell this story to the right people in the right way, you might get laid.


Is that an offer, V? ;D And here I was hoping to get laid for my personality or something.

EDIT: Yeah I forgot how terrible the British railway system is. Here in 'merica it's fucking stellar. Probably because we built them out of a true sense of Manifest Destiny, and you horrible heathens didn't have God's approval to destroy everything in your path in the name of religion!
