I would just like to point out that Akira Toriyama himself said that the Power Levels were always intended to be utterly meaningless. Hence why the Scouters were constantly wrong or getting broken.

EDIT: Also, putting numbers on all of this stuff is likely to encourage people to compete over who can make their numbers bigger in the shortest amount of time, turning this all into a giant pissing contest. Speaking from experience on that front.

Been watching the crap since uh...1990? The really early dragonball. Could count me in, if we take some of the toriyama's cheeky humor and quirky puns and not just the screaming and pounding contest that seemed to permeate in the later Z parts.

Dragon ball Super has spaketh there are 13/12 (??) Universes, with universe 7 being the Gokufest, just saiyan.

Nothing prevents us from making an entire similar-not-quite-universe. So AU, then.

As for stats... we know scouter numbers are bogus, after all. Plus Frieza broke them down by farting.

I'd compensate the fact that having more power doesn't mean being any better. Circumstances can change to give people the upper hand.

In fact, having more power means you're less likely to be wary about things and subterfuge.

I'd use tiers, instead of a raw number scale and stats...

And ironically, lower tiers would allow you to pick secondary non-combat abilities.

(So if anyone wants to make a Bulma, it'd be quite good for the team)

If I were to use stats for something like this, I'd have the character's overall power level act as a pool of stat points to distribute among a small number of stats.

- Stamina (acts as HP, and in a way a character's resilience in combat; high stamina is basically a defensive tank).
- Strength (in a nutshell, physical attack power).
- Speed (accounts for reaction time in combat, to achieve blocks and dodges).
- Ki (goes into Ki-based attacks; your Kamehamehas and Galick Guns, and the ability to raise other stats).

Maybe I got lost in the previously presented stat system, and mine is basically the same thing. The only hitch with any stat system is that it has to have a tangible function in practice. I wouldn't worry so much about people trying to raise their numbers up over each other because that can be moderated easily enough. An award system for participating in major combative events would suffice. Plus, then we could start applying transformations and fusions with some outlook on power.

But then, I also kind of like Atomic's idea of using tiers. Tiers in tandem with cooperation from members, and, IMO, a willingness to accept some defeats to characters such as major villains in the first bouts when necessary, if we do drift in that direction.

I'm up for this, I've been rping dbz for a while now. I had a system that I'd made for forum dbz roleplaying which was tied to word count and worked quite nice, so it meant the more you wrote AND posted (as the number of posts was a contributing multiple to the overall PL score) But to be honest, I'd say avoid PL's if you just wanna have fun and dick around. Just have ranks that say something like rank d = Krillin. rank c = tein. rank b= piccolo, rank a = goku rank s = Super levels or something. It'd be way easier to just have ranks.

I have a One Punch man RP if anyone is interested in that? If not it's cool, but I thought I should mention it since it's not so far off this kind of thing.

I have a plot idea for an AU dbz RP though. Had it for a while but never got to use it.

The premise is that Goku as a child never got that bump on the head. He grew up evil and is the first kind of boss.

The second leads on from the first. The second being that After Goku is either defeated or victorious in the first thread, He get's in contact with vegeta, who in this time line had become the first super saiajin in the galaxy, and was consequently the king of planet Vegeta. At that point he's fighting a war against freiza for control over planets and shit. TBF the second idea could stand alone as a thing, as all characters could just be involved in the war effort on either side. But if it led on from the first, it could be that earthlings go out into space for whatever reason, to track the dragon balls and shit
