The Reign of Vampires: Humanity in Chains

Introduction

Four thousand years have passed since the rise of the Vampiric Houses and the Blood Tide. Within days Am’leth fell into the claws of the new Vampire Overlords. As a result, humanity was shackled in chains, becoming slaves and servants for their new masters.

Lord Dragan, Master of House Turarian and the one responsible for the Ethereal Eclipse that blankets the sky in darkness oversees the labour camps of Fal’mek – a small mining colony. Here, humans work fifteen hour shifts, mining for rare crystals that are said to contain arcane energies.

Vampiric Houses

House Turanian:

House Turanian is by far the largest of all the major houses. They were the house that instigated the war between human and vampire and it was Lord Dragan who cast eternal darkness onto the world, ensuring that their race would face no interference from the light of the sun. While not fatal to vampires, the intense light of the sun does weaken their powers.

House Sa’mi:

House Sa’mi is ran by Lady Garmel. House Sa’mi owns the largest of the human blood farms. Despite the horrific sounding nature, the blood farms are perhaps one of the more lucid of the possible sectors that a human can be placed in. Because the quality of blood is important, Blood Bags as humans are referred to are given the best quality of foods and are treated as fairly as is expected, only some personal servants of Vampire Lords are said to be treated better.

House Storm-Shadow:

House Storm-Shadow is the birth child of Lord Inquisitor Dalex. House Storm-Shadow is the secret hand of the Vampires. They are responsible for intelligence gathering and assassination. It is this house that is actively ensuring no resistance movements are even conceived.

Resistance

Very few even dare mention the word for if heard by their masters, the Vampiric Inquisition will be sent, slaughtering anyone they believed to have any link to some form of resistance without tribunal.
However, no matter how small, there is a faint glimmer of hope. The Children of Sol. This resistance movement thus far has remained undetected by the Vampire Overlords. Using Arcane-Technology and the very crystals they are forced to mine, CoS have managed to craft weapons capable of destroying vampires with ease.

Sounding good so far.

@Ojo chan 42

That's fine, those from the Vampire Houses will most likely share surnames.

As for aging with Vampire, they are born like humans and age at the same rate until they reach their prime.

I have to ask a few questions about vampires being born.

So, vampires are alive then? Why are they immortal if they can reproduce? Or do they have a limited lifespan? Did they ever evolve from humans? Were they a magical mistake? Demonspawn? Are they into possibly leaving the planet so that they can continue to reproduce and expand to new planets and continue to grow in numbers? What are they going to do about the longer term impending death of the sun? Are they just some kind of divine curse-mockery of humankind?

If humans are totally subjugated, then what do they really do every day? Do they fight amongst each other? What constitutes the vampire's ruling body? What about animals on the planet? Does Africa still have elephants and lions and shit? What about vampire nations across the globe? I assume China is all vampires. India? Are there any places still run by humans?

Are any of the original vampires around from the initial takeover 4000 years ago? What about vampires from earlier than that time? Are they still around? Could I possibly play one that woke up in a time-capsule or tumb of some kind? Cuz that'd be rad.

Vampires are mystical creatures like dragons, fairies and so on. They have always been, much like humans and every other creature.
The world that this is set on isn't Earth, but a created fantasy world like the Eldar Scrolls or TP's Disc World.

The vampires are very hardy, but not invincible. The only way the vampires are able to seem to live forever is that they drain the life-force of other creatures, which is why its important that they keep humans alive and as well as they can. Lack of life-force will cause vampires to go into a mortise-hybantive state.

As for the sun exploding, the age this is set in is around steam-punkish technology and understanding. They have little knowledge of stars exploding.

For human day to day lives, they live in small camps/villages which often run much like they did, there's taverns, brothels and such. However when the work bell rings, everything stops and the humans will go to their assigned jobs.

There are one or two villages on the outskirts that are still human controlled, though it is difficult to find them as they try to stay hidden.

And many of the original Vampires from the first uprising are still alive, in fact every house master is one of them. If you wish to play as a Vampire from 4000 years ago you're more than welcome.

Cutting off limbs is a good way, also stakes through the heart.

@Karolus brings up a good point. 4K is a long time. How inbred is the human species now? I'm sure vampires have been breeding them for the best blood and labor.

@Karolus

It's a 3:1 ratio in favour of the humans.
After 1000, or so years, most humans have just accepted the way things work. Humans who report others are often rewarded if their information is true, and punished if it is not. Working conditions varies from sector you work in and who the Vampire Lord of that land is.
The Vampiric Inquisition has agents in every major city and town.

As stated, any mention of potential uprising is quickly eliminated. - No matter how thin the connection.

@Wraithblade6

The Vampires are not believe that mass genocide is the best course of action for a few reasons, one being that they will eradicate one of the few things keeping them alive, the second is that most people only fight when they feel threatened, keeping a loose grip on the humans and having them stay in your hand is better than them slipping through your fingers.

Most day to day lives are as they were, especially Dragan thought it best to keep human activity as comfortable as possible to ensure that humans remained... 'loyal'.
