Beyond Humanity: Chaos quarantine.
Progress, advancement, evolution. These are concepts that have driven humanity forward through the ages. And even now, in our modern era, progress hasnβt slowed down in the least. Progress brings us prosperity. But now humanity has been offered a gift. A chance for humanity to go beyond itself; to become something more than human. We thrive on advancement, but how willing are we to advance ourselves? And will this gift truly bring us advancementβ¦ or will it lead our society to ruin?
It all started on the first of March, 2016. The city of London was thrown into confusion as the entire city was put into lockdown. Any and all exits out of London were completely obstructed by the countryβs military. Any contact with the outside world was made impossible. The millions inside of the quarantine were given no explanation why they were caged in the grand city. To others was told that a dangerous virus was the cause. But no, in the city there was no plague, no pestilence. But as the first day proceeded towards dusk, the true reason quickly unfolded. The first humans awakened. One obtained the power to lift a car. Another manipulated fire with his will. And yet another found herself capable of transforming into a mighty beast. The more time passed, the larger these cases grew in number. They numbered in the thousands, their powers as varied as their goals. Thus concluded the prelude that plunged London into chaos.
You are one of many, awakened to your power that night. This power and how you use it is completely up to you. So what are you going to do? Will you use your powers to do everything you have wanted? To acquire anything your heart has ever desired? Will you fight those who would dare use their powers for evil? Will you seek the truth behind your powers? Do you want to achieve ultimate power or would you rather shun the chance you were given? Or maybe, nothing of the above interests you and you just want to escape this quarantine as it continues to plunge further into chaos?
Whatever you do, the choice is your own within the chaos quarantine.
If I still have your attention after this, awesome! Let me shortly summarize: You are a human who has just obtained supernatural powers. You are trapped in the city of London, which is now completely quarantined. You will have to survive in this city, fending off other superhumans and securing whatever you need for sustenance and comfort. In the meantime, you will probably be struggling with various topics; such as where these powers came from, or how to become even stronger for reasons that are your own. Or maybe you would rather see this society return to normal and find a way to cure it? Or maybe you just want to find a way to escape this damn place.
As the above implies, I try to put a lot of emphasis on what you, as a player want. I have tried to make this a very flexible setting with many different factions, important NPCs and plotlines. All of which players could involve themselves with or leave by the roadside, with fitting consequences as a result. Simply put, I want the players to choose individually what they want to do and how they go about it. I plan on having it go somewhere between open world and a group RP. Every player will get to know eachother, but they are under no obligation to join forces or even have the same intentions or goals.
This also means I can accomodate different group sizes. Depending on the amount of interest this gets, I can adapt things. This is also the reason why I placed an "advanced" tag on this. Honestly I do not really care too much about how well you can write, as long as its proper english and a normal length (no one-liners, I usually like to have 2-3 paragraphs with sometimes more).I am only an average writer, and thus I am not expecting the writing of a bestseller from my players. I am, however, expecting active player participation and decision making. I intend to drive a plot forward based on the choices that you make; based on who you ally with, who you antagonize, ect.
Furthermore, I do not intend for this to be a very cute RP. There will probably be a lot of blood and gruesomeness very fast. The only thing that I will shy away from is (explicit) mature content, because that would be in conflict with the RPG rules. Therefore, if you can't stand the idea of somebody being gruesomely eaten by a group of angry lycanthropes... you have been warned :D
Lastly, I will also mention that I have very little GM experience. It's also a small warning that things may be quite bumpy because of my inexperience at times. I hope to find players who do not deter from something like that. ^^
Well, that's it! Thanks for reading. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
