Players: 7/9

"You are free to sever the chains of Fate that bind you..."

It has been sixteen thousand years since the Dragon Campaign ended, and humans took their future. Five thousand years ago, Dart Feld and his companions saved the world of Endiness from Melbu Frahma's plan of destruction. For years there was a comfortable peace between the nations of Serido, Tiberoa, and Mille Seseau. Hundreds of years later, war broke out. Man turned against man seemingly over night in a frenzied desire for carnage. No one could figure out why. That is until a what was considered a lost race resurfaced.
Mermaids.

They told the humans and what was left of the winglies that when the Moon That Never Sets crashed into the Tree of Life, the world's life began to crumble. The only thing that could save them now was, to everyone's surprise, the being of the 108th fruit; the Moon Child.

Everyone knew the legends, old and new. Every 108th year, a child would be born with a special soul. The soul of a god. This child would bring peace and joy to Endiness. However, every time this occurred, a creature known as the Black Monster would kill and devour the god child. The cycle had supposedly gone full circle in the city of Neet when the Black Monster killed Princess Louvia, daughter of Queen Theresa, twin of Shana. The Black Monster made a mistake killing Louvia rather than Shana, leaving the Moon Child alive. They now know that the Moon Child was the bringer of destruction and the Black Monster was revealed to be Rose, the Dark Dragoon, who slew the Moon Child to prevent its ascension. This however was not entirely accurate.
The Moon was not the true body of the Moon Child. Melbu Frahma was wicked and deceitful, he wanted the power of the god for himself. He created a psudo-body, the Moon That Never Sets, as a way to steal the Moon Child's power. When at last he was able to take the power, he sapped energy from the world to allow the transformation, using the Tree of Life as a channel.

When Melbu Frahma was defeated, the channel was left open and the planet's life slowly flowed out into the Moon That Never Sets and dissipated. After Shana passed and 108 years went by, the Moon Child did not descend to Endiness, and never would again. The soul of the god was trapped once more within the Tree of Life and several new fruits grew on its boughs.
Eight fruits. Each containing a fragment of the god's soul. Each ready to fall and bring hope and joy once more to Endiness.

The mermaids say only the Dragoons can claim the fruits, but the spirit stones have been lost through the ages. It is said that Dart convinced the others to seal away their Dragoon Spirits so they could never be used for evil. He spent many of his later years searching for the Dark and Red-Eye spirits. They were never found. He told only his children how to find and retrieve them, but like all things, this too was lost to the tides of time.

Basic information about the world.

I know that in the game, the morphs are based on insanity or "battle rage", but since the world is deteriorating, it has become more difficult to make the transformations.

Dragoon magic: unable to summon dragons, however the other magics are usable.

I am not expecting anyone to die but it something does happen, the dragoon will pass to another person.

The only races are mermaid, wingly, and human. Gigantos are extinct.

Name: Jerus Jericho

Age: 23

Gender: Male

Race(mermaid, wingly, human.): Human

Dragoon Spirit: Red-Eye

Weapon: Hand-and-a-half sword and dagger

Appearance: Red hair with a subtle hint of black, making it darker than normal, lean, muscular build, earned from years working in fields and helping the blacksmith, 5' 10" tall, with blue-green eyes

Personality: Jerus is a quick wit with a subtle serious side, often making light of situations no matter how grave they are and always will to lend a helping hand. The only time you see him be serious is when someone's life beside's his own is in immediate danger. Is also quite the chivalrous gentleman.

History: Jerus was born the son of a blacksmith in the city of Fletz in Tiberoa. Most of his youth is reminiscant of working in the forge, helping his father both make and repair armor, weapons and even house hold items. When he wasn't doing that, he went and helped his friends work in the fields, whether it be tilling, planting or harvesting, he'd do it all. This led to a very athletic young man. When he turned 18, he set out on his own, his father having taught him the basics of how to hold and use a sword and dagger in combination. In the words of his father, "Just a sword allows for slashes and thrusts that can be blocked by armor and just a dagger means you get too close to deliver those weakpoint striking blows. The two together are a perfect balance."

Keeping those words in mind, he's traveled ever since, unable to find a suitable place to become a blacksmith and, while he enjoyed helping with it, he wasn't meant to be a farmer. As he's traveled, he's grown more and more proficient with his chosen weapons, having been taught a little more by soldiers and guards on their down time.

Character Sheet

Faeri Kinheart - 17 - Wingly

Dragoon Spirit: Jade Dragoon
Weapon: Gnarled Wooden Staff (In the picture.)

Appearance: Faeri is a rustic skinned youth whose eyes are hued an oiled-bronze color. He stands at about five-foot seven and has a scrawny, albeit toned frame. As he turns his face to the side, one may noticed the avian, noble-like features to his face. His strong cheekbones, his slanted jaw, and straight-nose. Even his lips are rather full. He has long eye-lashes that turns his masculine face into a rather feminine conundrum and ravenous hair that masks a truly sterling color beneath the dye. He hides his body underneath desert-clothing, tribal robes, and oriental sashes. All of these are ragged of course.

Personality: Distrustful of most, Faeri tends to stray away from others if possible. His past has made it hard for him to even imagine himself having comrades, much less friends. He uses others to advance his own goals, and while those are typically his own survival, they can lead to trouble when enacted. Above anything else he values his own freedom and will do anything to maintain that and his peace-of-mind.

History: Kidnapped at the age of three, it was obvious that his life had been pre-determined. For most of his childhood he believed his last name was Ventori but as time passed, mistakes were made, and lies discovered; he learned that he was born to a band of wanderers. Upon learning that he had discovered the truth, the poor father that had kidnapped him had ushered a jade gem to him; revealing that the wanderers were a sadistic cult soon afterwards. He had been tasked to undermine them by the kingdom but in the process learned of Faeri's existence. Sort of unimportant at first, the old man continued to explain that his target was the child and he had to--according to untold reasons--crucify him. He, however, could not. His own heart weighing on him.

Eventually the old man and himself was cornered by rogues asking for the Faeri's head. When the old man refused, a battle ensued. The old man turned out to be quite the knight; though the odds were stacked horridly against him. He had to sacrifice himself in order to allow Faeri to escape. After that, Faeri traversed the wilds. Over time his heart hardened and he made it his goal to maintain his freedom, no matter what. With a memento--a one-of-a-kind green gem tied around his neck--he remembers the bold action his protector took.

Just a note.. that I was too excited to remember to mention.

All dragoon spirits are currently dormant, there is no way they will react to your character nor will they be able to be used. You may have it in your possession at the beginning of the rp, but sorry guys, no fancy dragon armor yet.

So with a 108 years passing since the game's storyline what type of changes are there to the setting? Like is it still pseduo-medieval or has it progressed to something like the industrial revolution or is advanced beyond medieval but not quite that modern?

I ask cuz 108 years is a good chunk of time that's passed and there was already some fairly advanced stuff like that metal clad steam boat or the chunks of magitech.

Also what of the lands east to Endiness?

@Shurikai I made it so that his protector just couldn't kill him otherwise. And more-or-less made the kidnapping an assassination attempt due to his Wingly heritage.

@Jerkchicken
To be more precise, its been about 19,426(give or take) years since the events of the game. In terms of technology, they have progressed, but not much. Mostly because of the magic failing within the planet and the strange warfare that's plagued the people of Endiness since. So, a more modern take on weapons. Better quality and such.

We don't currently have exact plans with that area, however, some things are still in the works. There is a good chance we will make it over there and to the islands to the west.

@Renny
Awesome. It looks great to me, go ahead and move him to the characters area.

By the way, is your character real open about being a wingly when he is around others?

If yes, there is A LOT of racism these days, so expect to not be treated with much respect by villagers or.. really anyone.

@Shurikai No. He's very distrustful of humans, so he keeps his origins fairly secret.

Not wanting unnecessary attention drawn to him, Faeri is more or less that lone ranger that most are curious about but hesitant to approach.

Ok so I have big issue with the amount of time passed in that I can't suspend my disbelief. I find it really damn stupid that nearly twenty thousand years have passed there is are grand radical changes to the setting and it still continues to be a generic fantastic version of Medieval Europe. It's way too damn big of a number for not nearly enough to have happened setting wise.

In the real world according the wikipedia the beginning of the medieval era was in the 5th century which began at 401 AD and if I did the math right the time between that and now is only 1615 years. 20 thousand years ago would place us in stone age where man was running around in skins being hunters & gatherers building huts and shit.

The loss of magic (which honestly isn't that big of a deal since humans in the game since they could never wield it directly like a typical rpg mage, outside of being a dragoon which was the really big thing for humans and magic) and the war would actually accelerate technology, especially with war and the concept of a arms race, where you try to develop something to beat the enemy's thing and they counter with some other improvement and it continues.

And what sticks out to me is the Queen Fury. You know the thing in the third or second disc that's part of the big story arc revealing more backstory and some development of the party? The pride of Tiberoa's navy, which I believe was mentioned as being a technological marvel of the nation which did not use any magic. That thing is basically is one of those civil war ironclads which is a steamship, but with silly battlements to make it look like a floating castle. So Endiness or Tiberoa at the very least already has pretty advanced tech to make a working large scale steam engine.

So in the millennia that followed before the war and the millennia during the war you're saying that the technological foundations that allowed for that steamboat to be made that there have been no advancements in like making that piece of technology accessible and better as well as supplanting it with something more advanced within despite it almost being twenty thousand years since its first (at least ingame) appearance?

Yeah, I just can't believe it and refuse to. Maybe with something smaller and under like a thousand years I could believe not much has happened, but the moment you toss something that absurdly big it just gets silly. Seriously in that span of time you could dig up the long dead remains of the party and put them in a museum exhibit of ancient peoples.

At leas the events of the game had the excuse of being possibly some sort of post-cataclysmic setting that got rebuilt given that during the human-wingly war magical nukes were being tossed around that not only scarred the earth but also messed with reality in those areas affected.

@Shurikai Those are some hard to contest facts. While I've never been one to nit-pick at one's ideas... when someone put forth evidence that stark... well, its a bit crazy to not respond.

On one hand, its your Rp and you can do whatever you like, on another, the simple action of changing the time-lapse is all that really needs to be done. What we gonna do as a RP group?

Is Jerkchicken even a part of this roleplay? Cuz I don't think they are and if not... they're literally just here to nit-pick.... which is kind of sad. In a big wall of text, even... I will admit that yes, you make sense, but it really doesn't matter. The setting is the setting. It's Shurikai's rp and that's how she's made it.

That said, it's really not a big deal. And I don't think it's even that hard to fix. Is there a specific reason you chose that number, Shurikai?

You have a point, the time jump is very illogical.
I forgot to mention that cities and towns and such are a lot more modern, Take Seles for example: rather than just being village with a few houses, it has grown into what.. I would say Mille Seseau. Maybe a little smaller. Bale, Fletz, and Deningrad are also quite a bit larger.

Its also the life force of the planet that is disappearing, which is causing magic to degrade. It also caused many mines to dry up more quickly than anticipated(illogical!), or collapse. So they wouldn't have as much opportunity to improve.

I know that tying the mines directly to the health of the planet is silly, but I'm a silly person!
Sorry, couldn't resist a stupid joke.

So, how much time would you say it took to do all this and to make people believe that the dragoons and dragoon spirits are nothing more than a myth? If its not possible to have it happened within the next hundred years, what extra upgrades would you suggest?

@Renny
There is a kind of corruption going around, the source of it is unknown, but we are going to start in Seles during their Dragon Festival.
Which is basically a celebration to the myth of the Dragon Campaign and the events of the game.

Ezmeralda, Krinos Solstice(who is MIA), and myself have been working on this for just over two years now. I think we have most of everything covered. We'd be happy to answer any and all questions, provided its not about the plot. I am open to suggestions, so if you have any, feel free to shoot me a PM. :)
