I mean it really isn't set in stone if they are formed or not, just no one really spoke up about them this entire OOC TBH. Maybe like the Avengers they can be formed later down the road?

From the posts I've read, it sounds like there isn't really anyone standing up for mutants other than Superman, on the 'good' side I mean.

Maybe the Avengers, when formed, could be an X-Men style team, fighting for those people persecuted by society. (Superman as an alien, Mutants, etc), gives them something to actually Avenge after all and gives a genuinely ideological reason to be formed rather than just Superman trying to outdo Luthor.

This is just me spitballing ideas here haha, tell me to go and I'll head back into my lair and brood for a bit.

I don't think it is fair to Morden to generalize that all his idea for the Avengers if Superman trying to outdo Luthor.

Morden and I have discussed his plans for the League and the Avengers having to deal with Supes and Luthor. He has a plan and knows what he's doing. When the Avengers show up it'll be great I promise. Just wait. For a while.

By the way new Lex post out!

I apologise if that sounded like I was generalising, not my intention at all. I think I worded that last one badly.

But yeah, sorry for any misunderstanding.

Yeah, it seems highly unlikely that the X-Men don't exist. We just haven't had anyone step forward to play them.

Listen, nobody has said the X-Men don't exist. But at the same time, I won't allow someone to make a passing reference to the X-Men for absolutely no reason. If the X-Men are going to exit, they are going to exist, not just because you desperately need some random NPC to show up in something you have planned.

Come the fuck on. Plan ahead. It's not that hard.

I don't think that's the issue at hand. Carol made a reference to the X-Men because we're fighting the Brotherhood. That's a natural connection to make. It would be like if one of you fought Doctor Octopus, you might make a Spider-Man reference. They're intrinsically linked. So if they don't exist for whatever reason, we need to know before our characters contradict that fact.

Then I'd say if they are so integral to anyones post - they should consider a) playing the character themselves/ finding a player to take on the commitment - b) if it is only a passing reference, should it be in the post at all.

Let's just not force anything to happen within a couple of the days of the game starting. Let's show some commitment to not contorting the suspension of belief to the point that everything happens within five of seconds.

Context and timing matter an awful lot. Let's not rush what need not be rushed.

Also thats a huge group to exclude - if they didnt exist for any other reason than no one has chosen to play them - Morden would have stated at the start up. Work with what and who is at hand - if your arc needs the Xmen people should commit to making that character themselves.

Woah, alright. Gowi made a reference to the X-men because Carol was fighting the Brotherhood of mutants. I don't think that shows a lack of insight. Saying that he would need to consider "playing the character himself" is frankly a little absurd when discussing the entire X-men team. I don't see how asking if the X-men exist causes such a ruckus, a simple "yes they are there" or a "no they haven't formed yet" would have sufficed.

@Gowi

As far as I can see theres no problem mentioning the group if they have not explicitly been excluded (which they have not).

But dont write them into your arc, if they do not currently exist (which they dont)
If you need them for your arc to make sense - apply for the character or find someone else that can commit to it.

Just mentioning them for the sake of filling out a post, when no Xmen characters are being played, doesnt seem to add up. If they are more than just a passing mention - you need those characters to actually properly exist in this World (by your hand or someone elses) before including them.

@Gowi - Im not saying you're mentioning was wrong - this isn't my game, Im just saying. In line with what I can see Morden has said - Just makes sense that the characters exist properly - via application before their inclusion in an arc.

Passing references are a hallmark of a shared universe. Go to any of the Lee/Kirby stuff, and you'll see a ton of it.

Yeah, I think with them being such a huge team, Morden would have mentioned if they were explicitly being excluded. Just that no one has applied for them yet - or enough of them to form a team.

I don't remember Gowi ever having Captain Marvel call to the X-men for help. In fact only PC characters have responded and are part of that arc. Never once has he shown in any capacity that the X-men were going to play a role in that story other than one little line of text.

Seriously, can we stop this. It is a little annoying that we seem to have a debate like this arise every time somebody asks a simple question. The last time this happened was when I asked about the Watchtower. We don't need to argue every time someone needs something to be cleared up. This is like, the third time.

*EDIT
So can we agree that the Xmen exist but let's keep them on the down low until we have players to fill out a team. Does that satisfy everyone's needs? No one has to go back and edit a post.

@Eddie Brock @Vandy- Im going off of what Morden said there - I understand making passing reference to character is really integral to a shared universe. But they have to exist properly first, right? Especially if its a big team or character, if there are even small mentions here and there you might hamper someone elses ability to play members of the team at a later point.

Im not arguing at all - just attempting to be clear. Nothing here is being written in an angry or entitled tone. Just reiterating the GM - Its entirely possible I got the wrong end of what he was saying.
